*Urgent Two Weeks Left To Avoid Homelessness
I am creating a new post. So, hey everyone. I have to be out of my place two weeks from today. I have to provide a certified check for $1,776 to the new place (I am grateful they approved me because my credit is not the best). I am broke, and I barely make enough to survive. I have no support system (going to my family isn’t an option), and when I moved last time, I took out the money from my 401k. I don’t have that option available to me because there is barely any money in there. I am hoping for a miracle at this point; even if I get halfway to this goal, I can make that work because I might be able to sell my furniture to get the rest. I am begging because I don’t know what I can do if I don’t have this amount in hand by November 8th. If you can spare any amount, I’d greatly appreciate it. 0/1600

ever since sites like the new york times caught on to the private browsing trick to get around their bullshit paywall, i’ve been using the google translate trick instead. google translate isn’t restricted to text you paste; you can also paste in a url and it will generate a link to a translated version of the webpage you wanted. it’s this service you’ll be using
go to google translate and paste the url of the paywalled article you’re trying to read on the lefthand side (where you’d normally paste foreign text). set the “from” language (the one on the left side) to russian, arabic, japanese, etc. – any language that doesn’t use the latin alphabet. set the “to” language (the one on the right side) to english. it will generate a url on the right, and you can click it and enjoy
(the reason you want to pick a language that doesn’t use the latin alphabet is that false cognates are inevitable. if you don’t want to read an article that’s mostly intelligible but every instance of the word “after” is changed to “anus”, for example, you don’t want to go with german)
this DOES NOT work with every paywall! i just tested it on a number of sites, and it doesn’t work on wall street journal. but it does work on the new york times, the la times, the washington post, and the san diego union-tribune. i make no guarantees!
hope people find this helpful!

under medical neoliberalism, there are only two acceptable "causes" for illness/variation/behavior: an immutable, measurable, essential feature of biology- or things which are your fault.
so you end up with most "progressive" medical approaches striving to bioessentialize things like addiction, poverty, sexuality, gender, crime, suffering, anger, etc because they can't move outside of this paradigm. further, any attempt to assert that something is NOT an inherently biological phenomenon is perceived as saying "this is all your fault and is a moral flaw". we have to move past our obsession with using biology to justify our experiences- it will never be a path to liberation and just reinforces the idea that anything that is not "biological fact" is a moral wrong.

anyways making this post is probably gonna take away the remaining will to live i have left in me but if we do not talk about what is happening to us absolutely nobody else will so please read this carefully
serbs & other minorities (especially roma) in kosovo have already lived in terrible conditions for over a decade, with most of them living in enclaves and ghettos and their mobility extremely restricted among these areas in northern parts of the territory. since the beginning of the pandemic serbs have reported that they’ve been neglected by the kosovo government and most of them left without treatments and medicine to fight the disease. on november 18th last year kosovo police has confiscated arguably all usable medicine from pharmacies owned by serbs in northern parts of kosovska mitrovica. this was noted down as “battling drugs” by the ksoovo government but everything the police took was legitimate medicine, as well as all of covid-related cures.
on the 20th of september this year (2021) a new policy called “state of kosovo” was introduced for serbian vehicle reg plates. just on the first day of the policy over 9k serbian vehicles were already captured and confiscated.
the policy and discrimination against serb residents of kosovo as well as the increased presence of ROSU (kosovo special forces) on territory where serbs lived led to protests against the measures around jarinje crossing. the protest was met with violent & armed ROSU forces.
after the 20th of september the tensions rose once again but i’m not sure they ever left to be honest. three days ago (on october 13th) ROSU forces fired shots at declared goods originating from serbia (mostly covid19 related medication and food), which escalated to rapid fire and teargasing the leftover serb civilian population. ROSU enforced a raid of all the provinces populated by serbs on the claim that the serbian population was smuggling drugs while the vans were literally filled with necessary covid medication that the kosovo government has already been stealing from serbs. people were left injured and one elderly woman died as a result of the teargas attacks.
western media has once more shown it’s ugly face as it managed to paint serbs as the “ever present villains” and the initiators of the conflict while the goods were literally approved by the kosovo border police only to be confiscated by ROSU and the serb civilians waiting for their medication shock bombed & teargassed instead.
ethnic tensions worsened significantly since and many speculate that this was done in hopes of motivating the albanian population of kosovo to reelect the current prime minister albin kurti in the upcoming elections.
absolutely nobody was found guilty on the accounts of firing at unarmed civilians and nato, the un and eu have all remained useless even though they’ve been claiming they will be involved in conflect-solving and protecting innocent civilians.
ethnic cleansing of serbs and other national minorities in kosovo that has been present for over two decades has taken a shape of confiscating medication, firing at unarmed elderly people & leaving them out to die without a way to fight against the repression or the pandemic.

On March 21, US-government-funded Uyghur activists were caught on video disrupting a gathering against anti-Asian racism in Washington DC, barking insults at demonstrators including, “Wipe out China!” and “Fuck China!” The Uyghur caravan flew American and “East Turkestan” flags and drove vehicles adorned signs bearing slogans such as, “We Love USA,” “Boycott China,” and “CCP killed 80 million Chinese people.”
Organized by the Uyghur American Association (UAA), the drive-by heckling of anti-racist demonstrators drew widespread condemnation on social media, including from other sections of the Uyghur separatist movement. Salih Hudayar, the self-proclaimed “Prime Minister of the East Turkistan Government-in-Exile,” slammed “the UAA’s reckless drive-by” for causing “severe backlash against Uyghurs,” and insisted that Uyghur Americans were “not racist.”
The UAA has attempted to distance itself from accusations of extremism and racism, stating that its members’ actions were misrepresented. Despite refusing to rescind their call for China to be “wiped out,” the UAA declared that it “condemns any form of bigotry and stands with all victims of racism.”
However, an investigation by The Grayzone into the Uyghur separatist movement in the Washington DC area has uncovered a jingoistic, gun-obsessed subculture driven by the kind of right-wing ideology that was on display during the March 21 car caravan through downtown.
Leading figures of the UAA operate a right-wing gun club known as Altay Defense. Proudly dressed in US military fatigues, Altay Defense drill in advanced combat techniques with former members of US special forces who also train private mercenaries and active duty US service members. Members of the militia-style gun club espouse pro-Trump politics and anti-immigrant resentment.
The UAA is the US-affiliate of the World Uyghur Congress (WUC), an international network whose first president outlined an objective to precipitate the “fall of China” and establish an ethno-state in Xinjiang. The recipient of millions of dollars of funding the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a US government-sponsored entity, this network works closely with Washington and other Western governments to escalate hostilities with China.
Despite claiming to represent the interests of China’s Uyghur and Muslim minority populations, many of the UAA’s closest allies represent some of the anti-Muslim, far-right forces in Washington, from Republican Rep. Ted Yoho to the Family Research Council, as well as the FBI.
During the pandemic, the UAA and members of its affiliate organizations helped inflame anti-Asian resentment by spreading far-right propaganda referring to Covid-19 as the “Chinese virus,” and claimed that China was waging a “virus war” against the world, “[p]urposefully, intentionally export[ing] the virus to cause the pandemic.”
Behind its carefully constructed image as a peaceful human rights movement, the UAA and its offshoots in the DC-based Uyghur separatist lobby are driven by far-right ideology and envision themselves as militant foot soldiers for empire.

Please help me secure housing
So, my landlord, who is the textbook definition of every single thing wrong with a landlord, is selling where I live. I have to move out by the first weekend of November. As you all know, I am poor. Yes, I work 40 hours a week, and I barely make it. I found a place that accepted me, but the move-in cost is just unattainable for me. I have to have a cashier check in hand by November 8th for $1776. I am looking to crowdsource this amount because moving is just so expensive. Any amount will help like even a dollar will get me closer to my goal. Also, I just want to think you all for the help in the past. Your support has saved my life on multiple occasions.

US police killings have been undercounted by at least 17,000 over the last 40 years. A new study confirms that at least half of the people killed by police were never counted. This is groundbreaking data that reveals a truer scope of death caused by police.
