WHY DO YOU SHIP AIRYO? 

thank you for asking brave commentator. you see the reason its very simple: they want to kill each other and its funny as hell. there is nothing funnier than dudes who want to kill each other and this is IT. plus i think they both have a lot of problems they cant help the other to work through and ideally if i wrote a 50k longfic about these guys thed both die at the end. thank you for listening. 

 WHAT ARE THOSE PROBLEMS? 

i thikn both ai and ryoken have trouble seeing themselves as human. (this may seem ridiculous given that ryoken makes 'being human' a personality trait-- im getting to it.) lets start with ai; ai doesnt take HIMSELF as a concept seriously. he was given a name on a whimsy, which i think he internalized (?) in a way by in turn making the initially pun-like name into as many puns as he could and putting his face in as many places as possible. though this may just be his (admittedly) huge ego, i think its also a front; hes making himself into a brain to avoid emotional honesty/vulnerability. and he jokes his way through like all his trauma. he is literally the comedy relief turned last hope character. 

 now lets get to ryoken. ive talked this to death because i "love" ryoken but he really does reduce himself to an extension of his father's will, up to the convention of his naming (a gun being both a tool to carry out ones wishes and the six bullets representing the six ignis/lost incident children, depending on which way you look at it.) despite how much he flaunts humanity throughout the entire series, posing himself as 'superior' to ai, in the end his function, his values, the way he lives his life don't align with this at all. his entire goal is his father's wishes, then and forever. he is human in every physical aspect, but this discrepancy is what makes him super interesting to me, especially when he's talking with the ai whose function was meant to be to serve humans.

WHY DO YOU THINK THEY CAN'T WORK THROUGH THOSE PROBLEMS TOGETHER? 

maybe they can. but i think its more fun if they dance around each other, their problems so similar and interconnected and yet them being fundamentally unable to connect with each other because of the respective duties that have been passed on for them to shoulder. ryoken will always bear the shadow of his father and ai will always bear the shadow of his friends. they will always hate each other, though slightly missing the mark; ryoken hates the ignis because of his upbringing and not because of any intrinsic, programmed reason. ai hates ryoken because he killed all his friends, but the root cause of that wasnt ryoken himself, rather society's response to ai and a kogami who flew too close to the sun. they dont hate each other in their entirety, in the deepest manner, and yet they are the core enemies in each other's lives. they have ruined each other, through this complicated web of things happening and people growing. and i think thats sweet. sorry if this was phrased weirdly/anything was wrong.

Meet Obie, the 10 year old australian shepherd/border collie/great pyrenees mix who brings a whole lot of love and happiness to my mom, my sibling, and me. He’s recently been diagnosed with a large prostate tumor. Due to the size and location of the tumor, surgery is not an option for Obie. 

My family has decided on radiation treatments to shrink the size of the tumor and hopefully give Obie another 1.5 or more years of quality life. He’s still in great health otherwise, and we want to extend his time with us as long as possible. Obie will have low dost radiation every weekday over the month of March.

Unfortunately, radiation treatment is very expensive. We are attempting to raise funds to help cover the cost of treatment, the ~2.5 hours round trip drive to the radiation center every day, and Obie’s other medications, which comes out to about $14,000. 

Obie is an incredible companion and we want to give him the best last years of his life possible. Please help us out by reblogging this post and donating if you have some to spare.
