PROJECT
STATEMENT
- FASHION , ANIMATION AND PAINTING
• The theme I have chosen in response to movement is Irish dancing .
• I began by looking at Irish dancing on a physical level through muscle movement and this progressed into looking at Irish dancing as a whole rather than just body movements .
• This decision helped me with creating art for each of my disciplines as I could focus on different aspects of Irish dancing that ment more to me .
• These aspects were the dance itself and the costumes .
• I explored the fabrics in my own costume and sashes and also the shapes and sounds created by my dancing shoes .
• At times it was definitely a struggle due to lack of resources but I think choosing something that means something to me definitely kept me motivated.
• overall I am really happy with what I have achieved and I feel like I could have definitely kept going with this project.

• FASHION •
This is my full 6 look line up .
All outfits are inspired by Irish dancing from both men and women’s costumes .
I wanted to try and include a range of clothes for everyone- feminine, androgynous and masculine because there is specific requirements for men and women’s costumes in Irish dancing and I have never seen anything outside of that .

This is my first look from my 6 look line up
It was inspired by the shape of an Irish dancing dress and the embroidery in my own costume .

• PAINTING •
This is a drawing I did of one of my sashes from an Irish dancing feis .
I also edited a white sash and messed around with the saturation to bring out the different colours in it as it would have been difficult to draw a white sash on white paper .
I tried painting it with acrylic paints and I like the result but the colours are not an exact match to the photograph .
I feel it would work a lot better with oil paints and if I had the proper amount of time to do it more justice .
