someone should ask me about my new ocs so I can character develop them. combining my interest in sociology and jane Austen to make. some sort of insane polycule

Frances/Francis nightingale: born out of wedlock to a not very well off mother, decided that to get ahead in life she should pretend to be a man and join the army. after leaving she is currently fucking around getting into situations as a regency gentleman. the special type of gender you get out of this particular situation

John wormwood: francis' friend and captain from the army, they bonded partly because John is also somewhat of an outcast being mixed race (his mother was Indian) ; they exited the army and are making their way in society together

Henrietta Gouldsmith: I changed her name from Felicity anyways she's part of an upper middle class family trying to move up, currently her parents have nearly given up on her getting married well as she's 26 (so old!!). Henrietta however doesn't have huge interest in men romantically, and is trying to find ways to gain power in her world while also sticking by her brother

augustus gouldsmith: his family has mostly given up on him getting a good job or married well due to his, as the kids say, incredible autistic swag. He has a special interest in music & is very talented at playing and composing, but no one in his family outside of Henrietta thinks this will go anywhere due to his strange and offputting energies and the stigma against male musicians at the time

for all that I didn't like the Netflix shows depiction of the crows I did love getting to see just inej jesper and kaz fucking around for a whole season cos their dynamic is like kaz -> jesper is like I care more about this guy than I'd like to admit because if I think too hard about having actual friends I might be reminded too much of my dead brother jesper -> kaz is like I live for the thrill to fill the emptiness and self hatred in my heart and this guy is a manifestation of all of these things so of course I chase after him inej -> kaz is like this guy is horrible and goes against everything I grew up fearing but in the world I've lived in and the person I've become he makes me feel safer and more loved than any person back from my home could and kaz -> at inej is like I thought I was too broken to love anything but you make me believe in good and you make me want to work for fairytale happy endings and inej -> jesper is like why do we fucking hang out with this guy and jesper -> inej is like well I know why I fucking hang out with this guy but why would YOU fucking hang out with this guy
