It is wild what ranges I have seen while on my job search. I had a contract position that I was going after that offered $30 per hour. Another contract that wanted offer $26 per hour at my old employer which is far less than what my former employer paid me. (Don't talk about why former employer is looking for my skills after laying me off.)

I find the M rating description to be wacky. Basically, explicit sexual content is a no go. But how far does it go for it to be explicit?

Also M rating lists 16 as the age as for that content being acceptable. It is vague enough to making most things a maybe.

I honestly haven't even used FF.net since 2016, but I was looking for an old fic that I had written that wasn't on my A03 account, so I went there and ya'll...those FF.net people are fucking insane.

Someone literally commented a couple months ago on some smut that I wrote back in 2014 because I was 'breaking the rules & guidelines' (I guess M Ratings don't exist there anymore? IDK) and they wanted to let me know that they were reporting my work.

...I am so fucking glad that A03 exists and that's where I mainly hand out these days.

Most people talk about it when there's an issue or something like that. That website has been going down hill for awhile.

Question- why do I never see anyone mention fanfiction.net on here? It’s as if some people think that AO3 is the only valid place to put your fanfic. I actually have more fanfic on ff.net than I do on AO3, because that was the main fic archive when I was writing Gilmore Girls fic and some other fandoms around the same time, and I never moved them to AO3.

I am able to upload stuff to ff.net. I do have the duckduck privacy extension off in Firefox. So IDK what is happening with you.

However, the website just seems to be more broken. Emails alerts were turned off for me because emails were being returned as undeliverable.

Stats were broken for several months and they didn't back fill the stats.

I stepped away from fanfic writing in 2019 so I could focus my creative energy on my original work. My domain was always fanfiction.net because I'm old enough to remember when fanfiction.net was the only game in town. It's where I started, it's where I developed as a writer, it's where I published some of my best stories.

So imagine my shock when I popped in last night for a nostalgia trip and found the site, from the author's side, totally broken. I couldn't upload a fic now even if I wanted to.

I've been out of the game so long, I had no idea that this had happened.

It's the end of an era.
