“you know me, teags” she mimicked her again under breath, rolling her eyes at the girl. all she wanted to do was gush about the engagement with sam before he had to sleep, but it seemed like kaia had other plans for the girl. she thought she thought she had made it clear that they’re barely even friends, but it looked like the girl never got the message- or knowing kaia, refused to understand the message. “he can’t really be your replacement when we’ve been close with sam since before our falling out, but whatever you want to think, lim.” she waved her off, closing her door before sitting on her bed with one leg dangling on the edge and the other folded. “what ‘i dont know you’ act? kaia, i told you that i didn’t know you anymore. we’re cool and all, but i just don’t know you anymore. it’s as simple as that.” she shrugged, her expression showing how unimpressed and uninterested she was at the current conversation. “you apologized and we are good, but that doesn’t mean we’re friends again? i told you that we were nothing, i don’t get what’s so hard to comprehend?” she questioned. “am i missing something? did you not understand anything i told you that day? i don’t know you, kaia. theres no bad blood and i’m not mad at you, i just don’t know you.” 

confusion etched across her expression, teagan’s words just made everything even more complicated. “huh ? what does that fucking even mean ? how can you not know someone ? what, do i simply just not exist in your life anymore ? is it like we never met and became friends in the 2nd grade ?” she shook her head, completely dumbfounded. exhaling a deep sigh, she lifted her head. “what do you want me to do then ? do i need to prove something to you ? because if you want to hear how much i need you back in my life, then fine, i need you, teagan. i fucking need you, alright ? if there’s anything this whole silent treatment of yours has proven, it’s that i needed you more than you ever needed me. i miss having someone to go to for all the good things and bad things in my life. i miss being able to pull stupid shit with you and having someone i can just mess around with. i miss our movie nights. maybe i have a habit of acting like i don’t need people, or i try really hard to not get attached to one person and rely on them, but i rely and i depend on you more than you know. when i apologized to you all those months ago, i should’ve fought more. i should’ve told you that i need you in my life, that i want you in it and that i wasn’t gonna go anywhere unless you forgave me and took me back.” maybe she was going overboard this time around, but she was willing to say whatever to get teagan to finally talk to her again. cupping teagan’s face in her hands, trying to put emphasis on every word to show that she meant everything she said. “and for that, i’m so sorry, teagan. if you wanna hear a real apology, this is it. i’m sorry for sleeping with graham even when i knew how much he meant to you, even though i knew that you were still in love with him and that you never stopped. i’m sorry for not telling you about it after it happened, for hiding it from you for weeks on end and pretending like everything was fine and continuing to lie to your face. i fuck up a lot of the good things in my life, but if there’s something i never wanted to screw up, it was our friendship. we only have a couple months left in hawaii, and we’re all gonna have to go back to our own lives and go on our own paths. but i don’t want the trip to end if you’re not gonna be in my life after this. i want my roommate back, the same roommate who i experienced all my firsts’s with. our first kiss, our first boyfriend, our first love — i wanna keep doing that. i want to be there in your life to experience so many more firsts’s with you. i want to be there to see you go off and fulfill all your dreams, to see you become an aerospace engineer for nasa, to see you walk down the aisle with some rich guy that may or not may be graham, to see you buy your first house, and have your first kid. i don’t want to keep pretending like we don’t know each other, i don’t want you to keep acting like you don’t know me. because if there’s anyone that knows me, it’s you, alright ?" she paused for a few seconds, dropping her hands to tuck a strand of teagan’s hair behind her ear. “so please, can we just start over ? hi, my name is kaia. i’m an aquarius sun. our signs aren’t really compatible but you put up with me and you love me anyways. the stars have been against the two of us from the start, but you love defying them and proving them wrong, even if there was a set path for the two of us, you don’t want the stars to define our future. you want to write a new path for us, one where we’re best friends and where we’re actually compatible, and where no matter how many times we fight and get mad at each other, we make up anyways. you probably forgot my name at this point, but i’m kaia. nice to meet you.”

still high off of the unexpected proposal, teagan was on facetime with sam gushing about everything that happened and jokingly telling him that the chances of head when they meet up next was no longer on the table. “i can’t believe he got diego to say yes. i knew my parents and pres would give their blessings right off the bat, but diego? i thought he would’ve made him wait at least two ye-” she was explaining, but stopped when she heard a familiar voice with some banging. getting up with her phone still in her hand so sam could see, teagan opened the door and raised her eyebrows as she stared kaia. “i’m not avoiding you if i don’t know you, kaia.” she said unamused. “listen, sam, i gotta go. kaia or whatever wants to talk and it looks like she has some junk with her.” teagan said to sam, hanging up after saying bye and that she’d call him again in the morning and then staring back at kaia. “what do you want?” 

“oh, just drop that bullshit already. you know me, teags. you’ve known me since we were 7. and i know you’re still mad at me but — hold up, are you in a call with someone right now ?” kaia furrowed her brows, hand quickly reaching out to turn teagan’s phone to see who the other person on the line was. at the sight of sam’s face, the grimace on her face became more visible. she let out a deep sigh, scoffing, “so what, is he my new replacement now ?” watching as teagan end the call, she placed the stuff she brought on the floor and crossed her arms. “i want you to drop this whole ‘i don’t know you’ act. i thought it was just some kind of payback or funny little joke at first, but i guess you’re still upset at me — which i don’t blame you for. you have a right to be mad, and i get it, i do. but if you are, then just fucking tell me, teags. i thought we were okay after i apologized for everything ? i thought we were good again ? i don’t get it. i apologized. what else did you want me to do ? was i missing something, is that why you’ve been acting this fucking way since february ?”

despite kaia’s attempts at repairing their friendship over the past few months, it seemed like trying to get close to teagan wasn’t enough. after the apology, she thought everything between them had been fixed and that they were back to normal again. but every time she tried to get closer to teagan, teagan would only push her away - as if their years friendship was nonexistent. although kaia was a straightforward person, she avoided a lot when it came to actually talking things out. but after months of putting up with it and failing with her other methods, talking was the only thing she could do now. standing in front of teagan’s door, she held a plethora of miscellaneous items she had scrapped together at the last second in an attempt to bribe her way back into the girl’s heart if all else failed. “teagan, open up ! i know i gave your boobs an 8/10, but you can’t always  avoid me !”

it was something graham was sure of the since the day he laid eyes on teagan, well, that and then going on their first date. he wanted to marry her. after discussing the plans with his family and asking permission from teagan’s, he needed the missing piece to help him choose the ring and to ask for her blessings as well. he quickly shot her a text to meet him downstairs. she didn’t delay and as soon as she came into the space, his expression twisted into annoyance; his kaia face. “if this was about the slippers, i’d come and murder you myself. but this is uh something serious.” he grabbed hold of her by the arms, “i need your blessing.”

with one glance at his expression, confusion quickly painted across her features. her brows furrowed curiously as she leaned her cheek into the palm of her hand, listening intensively. why did he seem weirder than usual ? “serious... okay,” she repeated after him quietly, nodding her head. as he got ahold of her arms, she shot him a weird look, “what are you do—graham, just spit it out.” kaia said, exhaling a deep sigh. “blessing for what  ? don’t tell me.. graham, holy shit ! is this about teagan ?” she wiggled out of his grasp, standing up excitedly. “are you finally proposing ?”

upon receiving a mysterious text from graham, kaia headed downstairs to meet him. but knowing graham, she figured it was probably about some emergency with his ducks or him missing another one of his slippers, so she wasn’t in any particular rush to do so. strolling into the living room, the back of his head immediately caught her attention—a sense of curiosity rising in her chest as she attempted to figure out the context behind his text. she plopped down nonchalantly beside him, eyes wide and arms crossed before clearing her voice and speaking up. "i better be here for a good reason, choi, because if you called me down here just to fucking accuse me of taking your slippers again—i promise, it really wasn’t me this time. and it can’t be about the ducks either, because i haven’t even done anything to them recently.”

he gave a nod as he shrugged. she was right, they were hard to get. and although he didn’t ask for the brick, he knew it must’ve taken some effort to find it—plus the wrapping job seemed like it took some time—so for that, he was grateful. “no, it’s cool,” he tried to reassure her, but at the mention of it being a gag, he immediately perked up. “wait, for real?” relief and excitement shone in his eyes as he watched her reach in the couch for the envelope. taking it from her, he carefully opened it and took out the contents, revealing two vip kehlani tickets. he read the name in disbelief, feeling a mix of emotions as his gasping mouth turned into a fond smile. “kaia… this… was really cool of you.” his heart felt more whole than it had been in the past couple of weeks and he wanted to cherish this moment. it was moments like this that reminded him life wasn’t black and white. him and kaia might’ve not held each other in the highest regard, but she wasn’t completely terrible. maybe she was even kind of cool. maybe in a different world they were closer than they are now—which got him thinking. “hey…” he put one of the tickets back into the envelope and held the other one out towards her. here was to possible new beginnings. “i believe i said on my wishlist that i wanted go with my secret santa,” he offered with a smirk. “take it, before i change my mind.”

upon the sight of a smile on his face, she felt like a giant weight had been lifted off her shoulders. despite knowing how much he liked kehlani and how he would’ve much he would’ve liked the tickets anyway, it was still a huge relief knowing that she had succeeded in being a good secret santa. kaia shrugged, flashing a huge grin. “it’s christmas, isn’t it ? it’s no big deal,” she said, trying to be modest. “don’t say i never gave you anything though, because these were.. ridiculously fucking hard to get my hands on.” her brows knitting together as she fixed her gaze on the tickets instead. though she was a bit disappointed she couldn’t get an additional ticket for herself, she was glad he would at least have fun. for two people who weren’t on completely good terms 24/7, having some peace and friendliness between them felt nice. letting out a deep sigh, she forced herself to stop staring at the tickets and tore her eyes away. “whoever you’re taking to that concert is a lucky person,” she mumbled a bit dramatically, jutting out her bottom lip. “i hope you two have fun, y’know, getting to see kehlani live and all. must be nice to hear her pretty voice in person.. and to see her perform in person.” she continued on, the desperation in her voice evident as she spoke. her eyes widened when he pushed the envelope back to her, a bit surprised he caught on to her signs and was willing to give up one of his tickets. “seriously ?” her fingers closed around the envelope, looking down at it in awe. “holy shit.. wow. you’re really gonna take me with you ?” she asked, beaming from ear to ear. “—on second thought, don’t answer that. bet, i’ll go with you. i’ll consider it an early birthday gift or whatever, so i guess we’re even.”

FEBRUARY 17, 1996 at 11:54 P.M. — kaia was born under an aquarius sun, aquarius rising, scorpio moon, and aries venus — however, i feel like the signs that were given when i took the test weren’t really accurate to kaia’s personality ! if i were to make up a natal chart for kaia based on her personality, she would be a leo rising, aries moon, and venus gemini instead. for a deeper explanation, keep reading !

so originally for this task i thought all we were supposed to do was make up our own natal chart based on our character’s personality but turns out we were actually supposed to just pick a time and plug it into the test thing (woops) but i chose 11:54 P.M. as when kaia was born since i felt like she would be born sometime later on in the night ! the test gave me aquarius sun / aquarius rising / scorpio moon / aries venus but to me those signs didn’t really seem completely accurate. aquarius rising people are described to be curious, friendly, stubborn and intellectually poised and savvy, and although kaia is a really curious and stubborn person - i don’t think she’s very poised ?? that’s why i felt like leo rising fit her more. moving on, scorpio moon didn’t exactly fit her that well either ! they’re people who feel a lot of things intensely and are emotionally driven. that does apply to kaia but only to a certain extent, since she can be a very detached person as well which is why i think aries moon would fit her more. as for the aries venus, they’re daring people who don’t like to beat around the bush and very direct and up-front. some traits of an aries venus i can see working for kaia, but kaia’s not always direct with her feelings and tends to beat around the bush a lot - which is why i chose gemini venus for her.
