Pre-release of Strange County

Since many people have asked for this for so long, I think it’s time!

This is a Beta-version of my Strange County hood, it contains no sims and it contains all lots from almost all Strangetown versions (PC, PSP, GBA excluding DS and PS2/XBOX/GC since those are not built yet).

No CC is included and the hood is basically CC-free with exceptions of the following items:

This Strangetown sign

Butterfly Pavilion

Life Stories, Pet Stories and Castaway Stories bundles*

* I am not sure exactly which items that are used, but I know there’s some from each Stories game

You will also need all expansions and stuff packs.

During these 3 years that I have been away, has anyone made the Sims Life Stories/Pet Stories 'hoods for the Sims 2 game and actually playtested and checked those? I do have those 'hoods in my game but I am afraid something will go horribly wrong sooner or later :D

Hello!

Just stopping by to say HI! :) I haven’t been active for almost two (!!!) years now and it’s really nice to see that people are still playing the Sims 2 <3. It even seems that much hasn’t changed since then.

For those who are interested, I am fine, thanks, just horribly busy with real life stuff. Kid-husband-marriage-household-study kind of stuff. Also, I moved last year so my PC is literally thousands of kilometers away back at my parents’ place (is a computer accepted as hand luggage on plane? No? :D ), so even if I had the time for simming I couldn’t play. 

I really miss some of you guys sometimes...

Hi!

Wow... It’s been a really long time since I last logged in.

It’s been FOREVER since I last simmed. No, I’m lying. It’s been one year and one month. That’s how old my baby girl will be in a few days. Even before she was born I understood that those sweet simming days were over, of course I did. Yet I had hoped that I would at least have some time to dedicate to my beloved game but nah... she came and nothing else was important anymore. Happens.

I do miss simming. I miss Don and John and Lilith and Angela. The sims that were born to those sims. The stories I had planned to share. The neighborhoods. You know, I never really got to play that Old Town neighborhood I shared. And I miss other simmers. I do.

But this is not a good-bye. I’m just stopping by to say I’m busy with real life and will start simming again when my baby goes to college, haha.

TS1 Old Town & Downtown for TS2

I’m finally sharing my Sims 2 version of Old Town and Downtown from The Sims. They’re together in one ‘hood and the terrain is meant to match Pleasantview’s - the bridge of Pleasantview connecting the two neighborhoods - but you can play it however you want, of course. Most of the lots were built by Prah, and I’m telling you, he’s amazing! 

IMPORTANT:

* Back up your game! I think I did everything right but just to be sure, copy your The Sims 2 folder from Documents (or where ever you have it) and keep it somewhere safe.

* There are no sims included, game will generate the ones needed (postmen, clerks etc.). 

* Do not try to move the (junior) Goth house from it’s place! Just don’t try it. I had to use LotAdjuster to place it there and once removed, it will be very difficult to get it back.

* Downloads needed:

1) This bridge set by Criquette. Place this custom content in your downloads folder before you load the ‘hood for the first time*.

2) This waterfall by Numenor.  Place this custom content in your downloads folder before you load the ‘hood for the first time*.

* I think the neighborhood will work just fine without that custom content, too, but without bridges the ‘hood would look a bit funny and the waterfall is just beautiful. Otherwise, no custom content but all expansion and stuff packs needed.

3) This mod by Mootilda unless you choose to play Old Town as main ‘hood. 

!!! AND HERE WE GO !!! (Choose the one you prefer)

 - Old Town & Downtown as a MAIN HOOD. 

The folder goes to My Documents  > The Sims 2  > Neighborhoods.  

 - Old Town & Downtown as a SUBURB/SHOPPING DISTRICT.

The folder goes to Program Files  > The Sims 2 > The Sims 2 Open For Business > TSData > Res > NeighborhoodTemplate

- Old Town & Downtown as a DOWNTOWN **. 

I think it’s not a good idea to add this if you already have added TS2 Downtown to your main ‘hood but I’m not sure.

**PS! If there is anyone who is familiar with SimPE and creating custom ‘hoods and would like to test the downtown version for me, I’d be really thankful. I didn’t exactly understand whether the game generated more downtownies than needed or not. It should work just fine as downtown, though, I’m just not sure about the sims.

I’m pretty sure I forgot something... I’m sorry it took me so long to upload it, enjoy and share pics of your sims moving in and lot makeovers and everything. Also, let me know if there are any problems and I will try to find time to do something about it.

I can't wait to play in your Old-Town/Downtown It looks so pretty, is it going to be empty, or is it going to have sims (Like the Roomies, and Mushagas?)

Hello and thank you :) The hood is not going to have any sims for several reasons but most of the sims from TS1 have been recreated for TS2 so it’s really easy to add anyone you want to the neighborhood :). I was thinking about making a populated Old-Town/Downtown main ‘hood but I kind of ran out of time.

I will do my best to upload the ‘hood this year. Promises-promises, I know. These last months I have used all my ‘’free’’ time on slightly more important things than simming. Eating, for example. Or showering. :P  Oh the joys of motherhood.

I love it!

Wheatlake Landfill! Something I thought would be very interesting & challenging to throw into a BaCC, although it was a bit late in my play-through for it to really have an effect. The basic gist:

- Without a landfill, Sims cannot use the street garbage cans or the AL garbage chutes. They also cannot call the exterminator. - Trash can be put into smaller bins/compactors but once those are filled, surplus trash must be put on the ground and allowed to collect flies & cockroaches. The trash can be relocated anywhere on the lot, though. - Compost bins are an acceptable alternative, if your Sims can acquire them. - To unlock garbage collection & pest control, all you have to do is fund a landfill such as this one, with 1 Sim employed to run it. You might also want to make unlocking the Politics career a prerequisite. - If you have a restriction on where/which Sims can “dig for treasure”, like me, then I made it so Sims can only dig for treasure at the Landfill. Because of the rotten garbage and the lack of showers, it’s not as easy as it seems.

It’s pretty challenging, because the trash can tank the environment score and make Sims miserable, and it promotes sickness, which usually isn’t very serious in The Sims but I find my Sims rarely get sick anyway so it’s a welcome twist. Whether your Sim can use bug spray - or only stomp - is up to your own discretion.

Where to go get ‘em - Simthing Blog

These are the things I was hinting at - street names for the 3 pre-made hoods. In 3 different styles. I kinda picked styles that I thought would suit them.

NOW. I know that not everyone plays the pre-mades but you might want to use the street names anyway….

So, here’s that request thing I was hinting about.

If you want streetnames for your hood - For the rest of 2015 - Send a request to me with your street names, your hood name and the style you’d like - and English or Simlish. And I will make it for you no problems at all! They are seriously easy to make, and I have templates so they don’t take too long at all.

Note - I’ve open up my ask to allow anons - for people who don’t have tumblr. Don’t make me regret it.
