Here is Cowboy Hermês Pride art done by @arlechinav-blog for Eiresione Iketiria.
He functions as our Patron of Pride, because cowboys are historically so gay.
Tumblr media
so since Hermes is the greek god of herds and cattle and stuff, does that also mean hes the god of cowboys?

Oh hey I wrote this ✨
66 Days
Content Warning for Topics of Death and Grief
It has been 66 days since you’ve been gone.
I think about you often,
And about how much you’ve already missed.
Turns out, time did not stop when you did.
I turned 22 and I bought a new car.
I start nursing school in a few months…
And we also cleared out your house.
It’s been wiped of every inch of evidence that you were ever there,
And that makes me sad.
I remember going through it one last time and being asked if I wanted any keepsakes.
If I had it my way, I’d have taken the walls home with me.
Y'know, it’s one thing to hold and keep the things that you saw and touched,
But it’s another thing to hold and keep the things that saw and touched you.
In that moment, I wanted nothing more than to keep them for myself.
To create a museum exhibition that would serve to remind me of the world before.
These walls are now fragments of a time and place that no longer exists.
They are precious and irreplaceable.
But I couldn’t take the walls that held you,
So I guess I’ll have to settle for the voicemails and letters you left me.
I’ll have to settle for the parts of you that linger,
For however long they last.
Time did not stop when you died,
But my world ended.
And in the aftermath, I was ushered into a new world that I hate and resent,
But I suppose it is my home all the same.
I don’t think I will ever get over this loss,
So I will have to grow my life around it.
I will have to accept that I can never return to the where you lived in,
And I know this.
Today, the loss I carry with me is heavy.

After a very long break from most spaces I frequented, I have finally returned. I've never been one to hide what's happening from people, so I will just be very upfront.
I've been very unwell as of late. I was, and still am, very wrapped in the hands of grief. I can handle the death of one or two people in a short amount of time, but nothing could have prepared me for the amount of loss I have experienced in the last few months.
Anyway, for me, all of the spaces in which I wear my Kallisto costume are typically regarded by myself as religious or pertaining to religion. Considering I have been so preoccupied with my own grief and constantly having to go through the necessary mourning cycle as described in my tradition, I have not been participating in any religious observance. I haven't participated in religion much since May of this year. I've tried, but it just feels... inappropriate.
Hopefully, now that i have re-enrolled in therapy, I will be able to get ahold of myself and return to my life. Hopefully, but this obviously isn't guaranteed.
Anyway, now that I am back, my ask box is open. AMA regarding my personal tradition (thinking about just referring to myself as an Aglaian Polytheist at this point) or anything of my practice as of late.

speak to people in a way that if they died the next day you'd be satisfied with the last thing you said to them

Hi! I was wondering if you could talk about how you combine being a Hellenic Polytheist with Islam. I myself am a Hellenic Polytheist, but there are a lot of parts of Islam I do feel a connection with. I would love to hear your take on it!

Here's a link. It mentions other people who do similar things.
For me, this question is difficult. In Hinduism, it is often understood that the Gods are all just facets of Brahman. They are all different personalities and aspects of Brahman. And this does not make Hinduism any less monotheistic.
I have the same views, except instead of Brahman, the single God is Allah. This is mostly due to the ceremonial structure of Islam and the emphasis on ritual purity that mirrors Hellenic Polytheism. I also have lived and have interacted with Islam for a long time. Naturally, we would mesh.
Islam is also very compatible with those teachings. I do have a hard time calling myself a Muslim though, so I typically just refer to myself as "Muslim adjacent" 💀

would love to read the hymn if you want to share it! In asks rather than reblog because I don't want to peer pressure but the first lines have me hooked.
Sorry, I've been hiding in my room for the last few months (the people around me need to stop dying. Really killing my hot girl summer vibes) here's the full hymn;
To Dionysôs
I begin to sing of Thundering Iobakkhos,
He who writhes in the climbing vine.
He, whom Semêlê bore–
Liberated by Lightning, midwived by the Holy fire of Agathos Theos.
And sown into the supplicated womb that is Kronion’s muscled-thigh.
He, who was hidden within the hills of Nysa
To be kept hidden from Jealous Híra
Who wished to bless him with her mighty wrath.
He is named Dionysôs Dimêtôr,
Twice born son of Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala,
Who descended into Haidês to aid in the resurrection
Of his ill-fated Semêlê
To aid in her ascension to join Oi Theoi in eternal bliss.
Down the hills of every wild mountain.
Within the green of the ripened vine.
In the whisker of the growling leopard.
He is there, blessèd is he.
And Blessèd are those who know the mysteries of Allah.
Blessèd are those who hallow their lives in the worship of God,
Whomsoever the spirit of God possesseth is one who belongs to the most holy body of Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala.
Blessèd are the dancers and those who are purified in the frenzy of Dionysôs, who dances among the hills in the holiest place of God.
Blessèd are the thyrsus-bearers, who wield in their hands the holy wand of Allah.
Blessèd are those who wear the crown of the ivy of that which is sacred to He who is Divine incarnate.
Blessèd, blessèd are they: Dionysôs is their God!
He, who is honey sweet on the tongue of Ariadne
O, mighty Phallên,
He who lives in the bed chamber cry.
Let not a noise creep from the tip of my own tongue,
If not the shout of ecstasy
In observance of your rite.
Almighty God,
Who drives men into madness,
Hear my hymn and bless me with thine own bliss
That I may throw my hands to the sun
In your ecstatic presence
That I may whisper breaths of pleasure
And be dampened in my own sweat
In the dance of Hermaphroditos.
To sing praise to Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala
From which you became God
I wipe tears from my face
And bless the ground on which I stand.
To feel you, Bromios,
In the thundering drums
As Gaia trembles
Under the assault of the Thyrsus-bearers
Who beat down the Earth in your name.
Crowned in ivy I lie beneath you
O, beautiful God,
In thanksgiving of your blessing.
The blessing of Freedom,
The blessing of He who lives in the wild brush.
I raise my arms in praise of you,
As I have before
And will do many times more
To shout the glory of your holy name.
Iobakkhos, Evohé!
Bromios, Evohé!
Mainolês, Evohé!
Phallên, Evohé!
Theoinos, Evohé!
Kissios, Evohé!
Dimêtôr, Evohé!
Sôtêrios, Evohé!
Mighty Dionysôs, to whom all of these names are applied! Evohé!

I did! Although, I worry that it definitely won't suit a majority of people 💀 it leans very intimately into the syncretic nature of my tradition.

@blyth-thehuman 🥺🥺 thank u
I'd give roses to @dionysianfreak for hanging around for so long; @arlechinav-blog for all of the knowledge she's dropped on me and the work she's done both to my organization and the Mediterranean polytheist community at large; also @hellenicherald for being so eternally patient and such a good friend to me from the beginning; @blyth-thehuman for constantly being open for conversation regarding reversion and the meshing of practices; @judithmageia for being such an intellectual baddie.
Also @satanesstoes because she let's me use her mob grinder ✨️
tag someone you’d give roses to-
@rthoney platonically ofc
