The hot new club is The Tortured Poets Department. It has everything: alcoholism, suicidal ideation, infidelity, mental breakdowns, drug addicted losers, pathetic little men, insane bop, defiance of fans, god complexes, near debilitating self-hatred, radical exceptance

my initial interpretation of the album is that there are two parallel storylines: one is about her insanity (her rebound) and the other is about what got her there (the demise of her relationship). the album tries to prove that the former was not real love. he simply gave her the attention she craved while also being just as blue and self-sabotaging as her ex. the storylines converge halfway through the album, and the rest of the songs discuss her grief, rage, perseverance, and ultimate acceptance through gritted teeth.
