Post-series headcanon
Even after her death, Kousei continues to play for her sake, imagining her presence by his side as he plays the piano. Though painful and all too cruel, he reminds himself of how she has inspired him and brought him back to doing what he loves, making music. However oftentimes after each and every performance, he finds tears slipping down his face.

17? :D
||So sorry this took so long! Hopefully you guys will enjoy this one though!
17. “Looks like we’ll be trapped for a while…”
The rain was both a blessing and curse. Thoughts raising the first thing he scolds himself about is the fact he hadn’t brought an umbrella with him. But then again with the strong downpour, chances are he’ll still end up soaked. The only thing he could think of doing is wait until it ceases or at least calms down to avoid getting himself soaked and resulting to getting a cold.
His blue orbs look at the gray sky, quiet and observing like he always does. However, turning to his side he finds himself not alone and in the presence of female who calls him “Friend A”.
“Got caught too, huh?” She asked him with a smile. Her long blonde locks drenched from the downpour. She held her blazer in along with her bag; if he knew any better, he can assume that she ran all the way to look for some shade.
“Ah, yeah.” He simply nodded, eventually turning his attention towards her. It’s become a habit to divert all his focus on her, a really bad yet not regretful reflex. “Are you cold?”
She nodded. “Just a bit, but it’s nothing I can’t handle.”
Liar. He found himself thinking. Since the day she collapsed after performing together, he’s grown so concerned for her. A pit in his stomach began thinking that he was never going to see her soon, that she was going to leave like his mother. Hopefully he was just being paranoid, hopefully what had happened will be behind them.
… Or so he prays things will be as he wishes.
Without another thought, he stripped off his jacket, draping it over Kaori’s shoulders. Such caused the girl to be rather shocked at first, but she smiled nevertheless. A smile that was so radiant, shining, as if it were enough to blind him. “Thanks, Kousei.”
I want…
He returned the gesture, smiling back at her before returning his focus to the sky, looking for any sign of the rain letting up.
…to be…
However his attention went back to the violinist as she embraced him all of sudden. His heartbeat quickened due to the proximity, the lack of distance between. But secretly, he enjoyed it.
… closer to you.
A part of him wanted her to never let go.

ah, my bad. i forgot to include a number in my ask. >.
||It’s fine, dear! No harm done! One “Kiss me” request coming up for two cute musicians~
13. “Kiss me.”
Practicing in the music room had become quite the routine for Kousei and Kaori. Words hardly spoken, yet they understood each other’s messages just from one glance of the hand or eyes. It was a strange, yet beautiful connection between them, especially when it felt like they needn’t have to speak to spoil the tranquil atmosphere of the room they were in.
Deciding to take a break, Kousei found himself getting off the piano stool, settling on the wooden floor. The pianist couldn’t resist gazing upon his companion, her bubbly demeanor displayed even through the simplest of ways as she placed her instrument down and stretched her arms.
Blue orbs gazed back at him, while taking her seat right next to him. The smile on her face was more than enough to move his heart, to get it beating much faster than usual; then again, her presence has always so overwhelming to him.
Being the fool he is, he found himself accidentally utter a sentence so foreign to him, perhaps a thought, the kind he had been trying to repress since they got closer, since she began to suddenly appear right in front of him, appear in his trivial dreams, illusions that he can actually be someone who can stay by her side and not watching along the sidelines, like a shadow all thanks to his fear.
“Kiss me.”
He had spoiled the tranquil silence with words that made him feel selfish in the inside. However that growing pit halted as he noticed her lean in. Her soft and pink lips brushed against his own. He could’ve sworn his heart felt like it skipped a beat.
Out of impulse, he found himself returning the gesture, kissing her gently, enjoying the feeling of her lips. Questions regarding as to why she simply complied entered his head, yet the other part of him told himself to keep them on hold and savor the moment.

Hello! Can I ask '28: Marry Me' for Kaosei? uvu
28. “Marry Me.”
Nervous.
He was obviously nervous. Then again Kousei was never one to have confidence in himself; the only time he’d shine with such a light is during performances, in which he did all he can to express himself to reach out to his audience and be the musician he grew to eventually play.
Playing for her and himself.
A simple dinner, just the two of them right outside of his house with stars twinkling above them and the sight of fireflies illuminating their garden. They both sat in silence, but it was the sort of stillness they were accustomed to, a kind so warm and tranquil that they both can’t help but smile at one another before deciding to converse about things, such as music and possibly trivial things such as what to cook together, pieces to play together later, about their friends and so forth.
Fortunately he was acting all normal in a way, minus a few nervous chuckles here and there; such made Kaori concerned in a sense about what the piano prodigy could be hiding from her after years of being together and now able to live with one another.
“Kousei,” His name comes out of her mouth like silk, smooth and graceful. “Something wrong?” She gave a small pout.
He can’t help but chuckle nervously once more, rubbing the back of his neck. “No, everything’s perfect really.” He stood from his seat, reaching for something in his pocket. “It’s just that...”
The violinist’s eyes widen as she notices a velvet box in his hands as he kneels on one leg before her. The shock on her face is replaced with a sincere smile tears make it the corner of her azure hues. Inside the small box was a gold ring with its center jewel being a pink diamond.
He took a deep breath. “You probably know this already, but no words can express how much I’ve fallen for you, since that day we met during spring and up until this very moment, I’ve only fallen deeper, caught by the melodies you make.” He paused, slipping the ring into her ring finger. “You’ve brought color into my life. This is probably selfish of me to ask, but I want you to spend your life with me, your accompanist and former so-called ‘Friend A.’” He found himself laughing a bit due to the last bit of his proposal.
The tears began to slip down her face as she tackles him with an embrace. “Idiot,” She says with a soft giggle before pulling him to a slow and passionate kiss. The words of his sappy speech echoed in her mind. At the moment, she wished she could reply coherently, but that could wait. They both savor the moment, enjoying the closeness and the warmth of one another.
“It took you long enough, you know.”

I've been eyeing these two and I'm all "Eh, why the heck not?" Tsubaki and Watari/5 or 32 (or both?) :)
||Ooooh an interesting couple of choice. Hmm let’s see what I can write with this ^^
5. “Wait a minute. Are you jealous?”
It was annoying how he looked at other girls. She may be rather used to it, considering how he’s been quite the flirt and heartthrob for since he made it to the soccer team, but it bothered her at times. Maybe it even bothered her a bit too much than it should.
Watching him hit on another girl, Tsubaki let out a sigh of exasperation. There he goes again; by next week he’ll probably break her heart for another. What a pig. She stood up from her seat, trying not to focus her gaze at Watari.
A part of her felt bitter, maybe even upset. As much as she wanted him to know how she felt about his flirtatious antics, she was also relieved he didn’t quite see her.
Just why doesn’t he look at her the same way he looks at them?
32. “I think I’m in love with you and I’m terrified.”
Another chance at love.
To think that she had fallen for another once more; and for another close friend at that. She wasn’t sure if she could take another rejection. If Kousei and Watari had one thing in common, it was the fact the two were infatuated with Kaori. Though perhaps the feelings of Kousei ran deeper, with how the violinist and him were connected to melodies and notes, something beyond her own understanding and even Watari’s.
But here she was.
In front of her was the male brunette, looking at her in confusion and concern. Hands trembling at her sides as he tried to muster the courage to look at him and pour her feelings to him. Of all times though, it had to be at the last day of their last year together.
“I-I’m in love with you, idiot.” She confessed.
And such left Watari at a loss for words. He was taken aback at first; his cheeks and the tip of his ears began to redden. However once he saw the tears at the corner of the brunette’s eyes, he quickly held her in his arms.
“Idiot...” He muttered with a soft smile as he held her tighter.
He hoped that she understood his actions.
He just couldn’t say at the spur of the moment, but he felt the same way for her.

"Please, don’t leave."
"Do you…well…I mean…I could give you a massage?"
"Wait a minute. Are you jealous?"
"Is there a reason you’re naked in my bed?"
"I almost lost you."
"Wanna bet?"

6: fingers kiss
A musician’s hands are obviously essential for them in order to play their instrument. Even one slight injury or ache can affect how one plays, especially if the individual played an instrument that seriously involved the use of the fingers.
“Let’s... take a break.” The violinist sighed, gently laying her instrument in its case.
Kousei seemed rather exhausted as well; they’ve been practicing non-stop for almost over an hour now. His hands rested on the ivory keys of the piano, without applying any sort of pressure. He sighed as well, his fingers a little painful from the non-stop practice session.
About to stretch his arms, he noticed his companion staring at her left hand’s fingers. “Everything okay?” Concern was very much evident in his tone as he got off his seat and walked up to her.
“Just a slight pain in the fingers.” She grinned sheepishly, showing him her hand. Her fingers marked with lines due to the hard material of the strings. Though a usual occurrence for violinists, sometimes it was hard to play, especially when one the muscles around the fingers are exhausted. “See? Nothing to worry about.”
Sure she did have quite the endurance to keep playing, but she also needed to take Kousei’s feelings into consideration.
Out of nowhere, she found her wrist held by the piano prodigy. She swore she could hear the sound of her heart beat pounding in her ears. It was then that she felt something press against her tired fingertips.
His lips.
Her cheeks reddened in embarrassment due to his actions, but she didn’t mind the treatment given to her at all.
As selfish as it sounded, she enjoyed it. And he made her feel like a princess.

17: rain kiss
Irrational, impulsive and a habit of hitting people.
She was strange in ways he never expected, yet he found himself drawn to her. A child at heart, a lover of sweets, good with kids and one to give the worst impression.
Yet she was an alluring violinist with a great passion to express herself and the music she wanted to create.
To think that she’s gotten him to jump off the bridge, chase a train, get him to play the piano again through force and even sneak into the school?
It was crazy, yet the pianist wouldn’t have it any other way. In fact, he was fond of each moment they shared.
And technically, he was fond of her in general.
Now here he was outdoors all because of her once more, under the pouring rain. Glasses with droplets, his black hair soaked from staying outside the shade, he observed the blonde skipping around the puddles on the sidewalk. Her giggles and humming were music to his ears.
A small smile was plastered on his face right until the violinist grabbed him to skip with her.
“H-hey!” He panicked a bit as he was not the type to do things like this. He was more of a watcher, an observer.
…Which is why he was Friend A, after all.
“Come on, loosen up, will you?” Kaori smiled as she halted her skipping and let go of his hand as she gestured him to face her.
He looked at her in confusion. “Why are we here anyway? We’re both going to catch a cold, you know.”
Rather than answering verbally like always, the pianist noticed the other walking closer to him. He froze, unsure of how to react, especially after he felt something wrong against his slightly cold lips.
Sweet, warm and soft…
This had to be a dream… right? Yet here he was, aware that he was conscious, soaked under the rain along with the girl of dreams; she was caressing her lips against his, gently as if whispering a little prayer.
It wasn’t too long until he began to reciprocate the action. It felt all too surreal, too much of a dream to him. His mind couldn’t find itself to process the event right before him.
To convince himself that he wasn’t imagining all this. He held her by the waist, keeping her close to him. He wanted to savor her warmth, the taste of her lips and of course, simply her as a whole.
All he wanted at the moment was her to remain by him, even for just a bit longer.

Hey there! Boy, I've got a prompt for you: After Kaori's passing, Kousei would always visit her parents. These vists then lead to a point that they practically treat him like their son and he like his own parents. They would do things like dinners on special occasions, invite him to family trips/gatherings, or he would always be giving them tickets to his shows (maybe even the ones abroad)...okay my heart broke typing that. ;-;
|| Oh man this is going to hurt, but damn let’s do this!!! now excuse me while I cry after writing this
A spring without her.
Honestly the pianist found the whole thing difficult to accept. His thoughts would go to her whenever he plays; it was as if her presence lingered along the notes, the melody… sometimes he swore he could the sound of a violin not so far away. Though rather comforting, it haunted him in ways.
But despite all this, he’s been trying to move on, to say the least.
At least for her sake.
Days after school and practice, he found his feet leading him to her former home. Her parents welcomed him with open arms, often asking him how he’s been and if he’s been practicing the piano, a question she herself made very frequent to ask.
“Of course,” He smiled. “I’m a musician after all.”
From casual talks, her parents had become his second parents. With his mom gone since he was a child, his father barely even present due to his work away from town, he began to see them as his parent figures. That, and the fact he felt like he owed them for allowing Kaori to be able to make most of her and even his life.
A year since her death, things have been still different for Kousei; his mind still grieving, but thankful of how she brought him back to the realm of music and liberated by the sheets.
Indeed she left the worst impacts and impressions. Yet she still remains beautiful to him.
“Deep in thought again?” His thoughts were cut short by the sound of an adult man’s voice ringing in his ears.
It had only occurred to him once more that he was having dinner with her parents. The young pianist had a competition overseas and timidly, he had asked them to come with him if they wanted to; the pair
He jumped slightly and shook his head. “Ah, sorry. Just a bit tired, I suppose.”
The man’s wife gave a warm smile at Kousei, patting him on the shoulder. “Oh, well don’t strain yourself too much, dear.” She responded. “The competition is in two days.”
“That, and Kaori would probably be angered to see you slacking off in terms of health.” Her husband said with a soft chuckle. “Though she did mention she couldn’t stand to see you struggling so much, she wanted you to go back to playing. She’s rather stubborn and I think you know that.” He paused for a moment. “She… really liked you, Kousei.”
A part of him knew that. From her letter, though a surprise due to her great acting, he felt a part of him flutter when she had confessed. Perhaps things were better like this to avoid him from further breaking; from spiraling to another sort of shock just like before. But hearing such from her parents, he felt his heart beat quicken just like before.
“Yeah.” With a nod, he gave a small smile. “And I liked her too,”

Again, beautiful performance (on video here). When Kousei discovers his new goal as musician.
It’s truly a beautiful anime!
Kousei: You know what? I felt it there, that everyone has something deep in their hearts. (…) We all had our personal emotions to lean on (…). Kaori: What about you? What did you have in your heart? What did you lean on? Kousei: I had you.

✿! aaah i love kaosei :'D
1: aggressive kiss
Jealousy coursed the young man’s veins as he noticed his fellow music classmate place an arm around a certain blonde’s waist. What made it worse was the fact, the girl didn’t seem to mind it as much. Chatting with people, smiling, he wondered to the Creator on why she had to be so mesmerizing.
Once the woman’s eyes focused towards his direction, the cheeks of the pianist began to redden as he quickly opened his music theory textbook to a certain page to pretend he had been reading the whole time. Through his peripherals, he could see the smile on her face and he can’t help but wonder is if it’s due to amusement or simply part of her usual optimistic demeanor.
Her name was Kaori Miyazono and he was just so head-over-heels for her.
Good friends from high school and now they were currently living their dreams to pursue music. An offer to study abroad was given to Kousei, but declined as he found no strength to leave his home country.
The next thing he knew, fate had made them meet once more.
Quiet, reserved and cynical, it took years for the male to understand his feelings for her. Aside from being a friend, she was a person he considered so important, a person he didn’t want to see, hear or meet again, but at the same time wanted by his side. And after much thinking and her absence by his side, it hit him.
He was in love with her; he yearned to be with her.
Though being the cliche man he is, the poor piano prodigy had trouble confessing his feelings. Hesitance, paranoia, fear of rejection would choke him every time he’d try to do anything to make a move on her.
But now, things were going to be rather different.
Classes have ended; the two musicians began to walk back to their dorm building together. Kaori was a few steps ahead of him, her pink violin case shined through the dusk as he watched her move along. Though rather calm at the moment, the image of another man’s arm around her made his heart ache in ways.
"Kousei?" He heard his voice uttered by the violinist. The expression on her face was concern for him, "You’ve been a little too quiet than normal." She stated.
He rubbed the back of his head. “Oh, sorry. I’m just a bit tired is all. It’s been a long day.”
The blonde cocked her head slightly, but decided to shrug the topic off. A part of the young man was relieved she didn’t further delve into it; another was flattered by the fact she had noticed. Then again, Kaori was someone who was good in perceiving, as well as expressing herself.
It wasn’t too long until they made it to their building. A daily routine of Kousei’s at the end of the day was to escort her until her room’s entrance. Once they made it, Kaori had gotten her keys from her skirt pocket, about to unlock her room’s door.
She turned her attention towards him and gave a bright smile. “Well, I’ll see you later.”
But rather than nodding, bidding his farewell and making his way to his own dorm room, Kousei found himself at a freeze. His blue hues focused on his companion’s soft and pink lips.
And everything else was a blur.
Kaori’s eyes widened in shock as his lips met hers in one blink of an eye. Her body pressed against her door as she felt him caressing her lips rather roughly. Despite this though, she sensed the gentleness in his actions. “Mm…” She wrapped her arms around his neck, returning the gesture with the similar passion.
Realizing his actions, Kousei pulled away right away. His breathing quick from the loss of air due to kissing the blonde. “S-sorry!” He exclaimed, his cheeks bright red in embarrassment and shame due to his impulsive behavior.
He didn’t expect her to giggle and shake her head; her azure hues were locked on his own. Her cheeks were tinted red as a smile was plastered on her adorable face.
"It took you long enough."

hello! ;u; how about an au where kousei's mom never died so he continued to play piano and he became very famous and stuff and he meets kaori for the first time at a competition or something idk
A life full of music, tone and sounds of black and white keys.
This is the life that Kousei Arima has lived all throughout his childhood. His mother was a pianist herself, his mentor and sole guardian as his father has always been one to work overseas and away from the household. Rather than feeling lonely, the raven-haired boy had never taken this against his father, especially after his mother had explained to him.
That, and the fact the piano is practically his life.
Child prodigy, a human metronome, the boy was considered a machine when playing. His notes were accurate, precise and exact, as if the deceased composers of the piece spoke to him as to how it should be played.
With such a skill, he was bound to notes and the sheet.
And up to his teens, he still lived through preserving his name. A famous pianist and music student; it was amazing how he still had time for friends at the side of his piano competitions and rehearsals that have led him to taking naps on the floor in exhaustion, much to his mother’s dismay even if she wanted him to be great.
His life was nothing but monochrome, bland, without even a gray zone or color in between.
But that all changed after one April day.
Spring has come and for Kousei it meant competitions were on the rise. At this time, he was expected to practice, but such wasn’t what his mother had in mind for the course of the day.
“We’ll be watching a competition,” She smiled softly. “Your mind and fingers need a break, Kousei.”
And with that, he found himself attending a competition. Not as a participant, but part of the audience. It was new to him, strange to the very core, considering he’d always be either backstage or on stage. But here he was, sitting as an observer, perhaps even a critic.
“Kreutzer Sonata”, a piece known for its demanding violin parts. It’s a perfect song to use in order to test a violinist and their skill.
So far, so good. A few flaws here and there but Kousei knew the heart they dedicated to mastering the piece. This was a mutual understand amongst all musicians, but not for the judges around them; the goal was to look for the best, the one who knew the piece and spoke what Beethoven through their legato and staccato.
Next was a woman by the name Kaori Miyazono. As she began to walk on stage to her mark, the young man couldn’t help but feel the atmosphere immediately shift from a once tense one to something else he couldn’t exactly explain.
Once she began to play, it seemed that she had gotten the attention of the whole audience; as if she had done a spell to captivate them all. But it was then that the reason came to light.
She had claimed the piece as if it were her own.
This was a shock to Kousei; it was against all his foundation as a musician. His mother seemed to be rather disappointed at the performance. Though beautiful, her only saving grace would perhaps be the audience. Her method of playing wouldn’t exactly bring her to far if she kept picking fights with the structure of the piece.
But no, Kousei saw himself thinking otherwise.
His heart began to beat rapidly. His face showed the expression of awe and amazement.
The results came soon enough and indeed his mother was right. The blonde was saved by the audience and would proceed to the next competition. Some sort of relief filled Kousei at this fact. In a way, he was looking forward to seeing the woman more and her dynamic of playing.
While his mother was discussing matters with other critics, he decided to take a stroll for the meantime. The last thing he wanted was his mother scolding him for leaving without a word or whatsoever. His mother was often a worrywart. It wasn’t exactly a trait he minded, but it would guilt trip him to see his parent upset. No child likes seeing their parent unhappy.
Outside of the confines of the music hall and still lost due to the violinist’s performance he found himself bumping into an individual. “Ah, sorry!” He exclaimed. Luckily, they didn’t seem to drop anything they were holding.
To find out, he had bumped into a girl around his age, a performer to be exact. Her face was currently concealed by a bouquet of flowers probably from someone part of the audience.
“Oh no, it’s fine.” She reassured him, setting the bouquet down in order to see her current companion and reveal her face.
His eyes widened in awe at the sight of the female before him; the breeze blew as her blonde hair began to sway. But rather than it loose, it was tied into a ponytail and the white dress she had worn was replaced into a short pink one with sleeves.
However the one thing that had gotten his attention was her smile and her eyes that were warm with optimism yet cool in color.
It was then that he knew that she was something he both wanted to see and not see, to meet and not meet again and to hear and not hear again.
He called it unexplainable.
This was what people would commonly call love at first sight.
He was experiencing his first love.
