I’m gonna admit that the reason I have not been as active lately is because I keep musing over the decision to make Karmi leave.

On the surface the whole thing of her parents pulling her out of the SFIT makes sense, that they’d be worried about her security, but when you think about it, then it becomes a little iffy, because this is not the first time Karmi has been in danger, hell in her introduction episode she was rescued by Hiro when a pole was about to crush her.

And then there’s the part where it feels like all the development they gave her and her friendship, not just with Hiro, but to a certain degree with Honey Lemon was rendered null, because what was the point? What was the turning point where Karmi’s role in the series is felt? I mean yeah, wanting her to become the new member of the team was unlikely, but what stopped her from becoming a regular? Like Globby, like Granville or even that news guy who does everything except giving news? (heck, the first two have had their own focus episodes) 

It makes me bitter to think about it, specially because so far there isn’t a good reason for it, some people were thinking that it may give Megan space to develop, but we had one episode where apparently she does better research than the whole Police Dept of the city and then they focus on her dad, and a bunch of villains of the week.

I really hope Karmi will be back, because to be honest this type of thing is a majot pet peeve of mine in writing: why make the audience care about a character and bother to develop them if at the end they’re gonna leave and weren’t even allowed a good bye scene or a message or anything?

Because yeah, do you want me to believe that after Hiro basically rescued her, regardless of how pressuring her parents were, she wans’t going to at least take a bit of time to say goodbye? Even through Granville? 

It honestly feels like the writers had no more ideas to what to do with her character  and took the easy way out :/

I really like how Karmi has been handled this season. I won’t deny, during the first season, I wasn’t a fan but I’m warming up to her now. I understand where she’s coming from and she’s definitely showing signs of being a more fleshed out character.

So, here’s to Karmi, you beautiful Biology Queen.

Random Thoughts of Season 2 so far

Nah, this isn’t a review, there are already bloggers out there doing it, I’m just sharing my thought in general:

I don’t actually mind that much the whole thing on Hiro being jealous of Karmi again; I mean I get why some people are annoyed, but the thing is, just like that s1 episode was a set up for this season’s villain and arc, I feel Hiro had yet to learn his lesson in that episode, but simple an awareness on his part that he was jealous and was dumb to feel that way, but he’s still a teen and Karmi was very obviously bragging and taunting him, so his outburst was expected.

Before anyone thinks I’m mad at Karmi, please don’t fear, she’s still my queen and I love what they seem to be going on for her in this season  - socializing more and drawing parallels with Hiro as young geniuses - and I have high hopes (and fears) about her direct involvement with Liv Amara because I can see a parallel there just like s1 did one for Hiro and Obake, I’m glad that while she is nicer, the writers didn’t just swept under the rug the animosity/rivalry between her and Hiro, because let’s face it: while briefly adressed, it didn’t have a resolution yet. (another reason I didn’t mind Hiro being jealous)

I love the fact that this season started almost off the bat showing us Liv’s true colors, I love a good mystery when it comes to a villain, but tbh that would have felt like a weak repeat of Obake’s arc. Another thing I love is that we have a female ruthless villain who is not a minion and not based on her sexiness to pull strings, instead she uses her intelligence and connections to move things along.

I’m calling it now: Chris is not just an “enhanced” human from Liv, but I think he may actually have been “made” by her, either with some eugenics, cloning or just plain artificial life (maybe a sentient creature made to look human?)

I couldn’t help noticing that in the first episodes we have had more instances of Baymax being incapacitated in some form and Hiro being forced to do heroics on his own without his assitance, so I’m wondering if this is simply for plot conveniece or will actual play part for more development on his part.

I’m all of for Megan and her dad’s introduction and possible second arc to this season; I really think it will be interesting to see if they’ll do a simple heroes vs law enforcement stuff or an attempt to more nuanced arc ala Civil War stuff. My only fear is that they may try to pull some sitcom love triangle stuff between her, Karmi and Hiro, while I don’t mind ships or romance in general (I mean they are teens after all) the idea of introducing a female character for no other purpose than that would be disheartening for me to see.

And that’s all I have for the first 5 episodes! Can’t wait for more!
