~~~~~~~Enjoy~~~~~~~
Dear Shou-kun,
Although we've known each other since first day of high school, we only became close friends for the past three months. I know three months is a little short for some people, but it was enough for me to figure out that I'm madly in love with you. At first, you were a little cold, a little distant and hard to approach, but after we became friends it became obvious to me that you were the kindest soul I've ever met.
I noticed how you always walk on the outside when we go out together, and how you would always keep me on your left side when I'm cold. You're a little dense to emotions, but you'd always do your best to make sure I'm okay. I'm really, REALLY grateful for that time you lent me your shoulder to cry on when my dog passed away, and how you stayed with me the whole night and held me until I fell asleep on you. You're also so patient with me, always helping me with homework, and tutoring me in my worst subjects.
I know you probably only think of me as a friend, like Midoriya and Ochaco-chan... Honestly I can't ask for more! I love being your friend, and I just love being with you! But recently these...romantic feelings of mine, has been getting so strong it's overwhelming. I really don't want to do something that might end up jeopardizing our friendship, but I really can't hold these feelings in anymore. I'm afraid that if I don't tell you now, I might accidentally overstep my boundaries, and I don't want that... If you choose to keep your distance with me after you read this, I completely understand. I just want you to know that I still want to be friends, because whether or not you return my feelings, I'm always going to be there when you need me.
Shou-kun, I like you. I love you. I just want to tell you that.
Yours truly,
(Y/N)
You squealed into your pillow to let out all the stress pent up inside as you wrote the cheesy, almost unbearable letter. Your trashcan was already overfilled by scrunched up sheets of paper, and you lost count of how many letters you have written. Your hands were sour and you just wanted to get this over with, but at the same time there was a small part of you that told you to proofread for the millionth time. "Nnngurhhhghg!" You groaned as you pounded into your pillow.
You sincerely hoped Ashido can't hear you from next door, because she would surely make a big deal out of it. Not that you didn't like Ashido or anything, but you knew she wasn't the best at keeping her mouth shut. "Ugh, fine," you muttered as you got up from your bed and stormed to your desk. You folded the letter neatly and slid it into your little pink envelope. You sealed the envelope with wax. Old fashioned, yes, but you were kind of into that. You had a collection of wax stamps and you post wax stamping videos on tiktok, since it was satisfying. Of course, nobody in the class except Todoroki actually knows about it.
Now here was the real question. When do you give it to him?
"Back to groaning?" You asked yourself in the small mirror you stuck on the wall. You nodded. "Back to groaning it is." You plopped on your bed and covered your face with the pillow and rolled around back and forth making weird muffled noises.
The next day, you carefully stuck the letter in your textbook before stuffing it into your backpack.
"Good morning (Y/N)," Todoroki greeted you during breakfast. The seat on his left was open for you. Your heart clenched at the sight of him. Seeing his soft smile first thing in the morning was enough to make your day.
"Good morning Shou-kun," you smiled at him as you sat down next to him. Today was the day. You're going to find some time to hand the letter to him. But when?
"Something wrong (Y/N)?" Todoroki asked.
"Huh? N-No, nothing's wrong. Why?" you chuckled at him.
"You looked like something is bothering you. Is it the math homework? Do you need help?"
Oh god you love this man. "No, it's nothing, really! Thanks for worrying about me Shou-kun!" you told him.
You walked to class with Todoroki, Midoriya, Uraraka, and Iida. Everything was normal, but your backpack, for some reason, seemed to weigh twice as much as usual. In class you kept flipping through your textbook to glance at the letter, as if making sure it's still there. You thought you were being discreet about it, but little did you know you had eyes on you from all over the class.
During break time your friends were engaged in a conversation, so you missed your chance to give him the letter. Lunch break was too chaotic. Then you had hero training... As time went on you became less and less sure of yourself. Should you really give the letter to him? What if he doesn't want to be your friend anymore? Should you give it to him discreetly? Or do you give it to him directly? Should you just stick it in his desk? No.... You can't seem to find the right time when no one's in the class. How about the shoe box? But there's always people walking around the halls too.....
"Is it just me or has (Y/N) been acting weird today?" asked Kaminari, who happened to sit next to you in class. "I kept seeing her flip through her English textbook throughout the whole day." You had gone to the restroom during break between your math and physics class in the afternoon.
"Oh yeahhh, I saw her roaming around the shoe box area today. She was acting very sus," said Sero.
"Oh yeah, I saw her walking around holding an envelope. Wonder when she'll mail that out," Kirishima added.
"Envelope?!" the girls exclaimed.
Mina's eyes started to sparkle. "It's a love letter! It's definitely a love letter!"
"W-Wait, you don't know that!" Jirou exclaimed.
"It has to be! I mean think about it, why else would she be walking around the shoe box area if she wasn't planning on putting the letter in someone's box?!" Hagakure beamed.
The whole class started to play detective, trying to guess who the mystery man is. Meanwhile Todoroki sat there feeling really weird. There was a strange churn in his stomach, and a tight clench in his heart. His brows furrowed tightly without himself even noticing. There was only one thing on his mind. Who is the love letter for?
Everyone got super quiet when you came back, acting natural as they all sat down in their seats waiting for physics to start. During the whole lecture, people darted their eyes at you, to confirm what Kaminari said about you and the English textbook. And you didn't disappoint. You had been flipping through that textbook every other minute, a very conflicted expression playing on your face.
Todoroki had no idea why he felt angry. No, that was an understatement. He was infuriated, but he didn't know why. It was your freedom to like whoever you liked, so why is he so angry about it?
When school was over, you still hadn't given the letter to him. At this point you were thinking about giving up. Doubts filled your thoughts and you were sure by now that this was a stupid idea. It'll ruin your friendship, and that's the last thing you want. You'll have to get rid of this letter before anyone notices it.
"(Y/N), you wanna go back to the dorm together?" Todoroki asked you. He felt guilty for keeping you to him, because he knew you still hadn't delivered the letter yet. However, there was a voice inside him that told him to do whatever it takes to stop you from delivering that letter.
"Ah! Okay!" You were quick to respond. If you weren't going to confess, all you can do is enjoy every moment with him. "Do you wanna do homework together?"
Todoroki eyed your backpack, which he knew the envelope was in. "Yeah."
While the two of you did your homework in his room, he kept eyeing your English textbook. You haven't touched it since you took it out of your backpack. You seemed to be avoiding English homework, focusing on your worse subjects such as math and physics. The longer he stared at the textbook, the tighter his chest felt. "Who is it?" He blurted out.
"What?" Your head shot up from your homework, confused eyes meeting his heterochromatic orbs.
"The lucky guy. Who is it?" he asked. "The one you wrote the letter for."
Your face immediately heated up a thousand degrees. Your mouth hung open but words trafficked at the tip of your tongue. "H-How did you- I-I thought-"
"Sorry.... Kirishima was the one who noticed your letter.... I was just wondering..." Todoroki rubbed the back of his neck. He hated the way you blushed at the mentioning of the letter. "Whoever that guy is, he must be really amazing."
"I-I...uh-.....well.....um....y-yeah....he is....." You had no idea what you were doing. Words came out all jumbled, and you didn't know what to say to him.
Todoroki's fist clenched under the table. "Who is it?"
"W-Why do you want to know?" you asked.
"I just-" That's right. It's none of his business. "Never mind. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."
"It's you," You blurted. You took in the sight of him widening his eyes at you. It was too late to regret, so you just continued. "The letter is addressed to you...." You took out the letter from your English textbook. You slid the letter towards him and packed up your bags. "I'll....go back to my room. Feel free to take as long as you need with your reply." You burst out of his room and dashed across the floor to your dorm.
You did it. You gave it to him. You slammed the dorm room door closed behind you before sliding down against it. You held your head in both hands, groaning to yourself. Oh no.... Why?!?!! Why did I give it to him??!!!! GAHHHH! You were ready to jump off this building. Goodbye world, you've had a good life.
You were absolutely conflicted between excited and devastated. There was a small part of you that had the tiniest bit of hope that Todoroki returned your feelings, but the realistic part of you knew that your friendship was over. You laid on your bed, hugging your little panda plushy that he gave you for your birthday. You buried your face into the plushy and let it swallow your groans and whines.
Todoroki was left in a blushing mess after reading your letter. The person you like is him. You said you love him. He clutched his chest to feel the rapid beating of his heart. It was beating so hard that he could feel his pulse echoing in his ears. What is this feeling? He was unbelievably happy. Suddenly a voice spoke in his head. I like her. It was his voice. I like her so much.
A long time had passed since you went back to your room. You knew you told him to take as long as he need, but you didn't realize that each second felt agonizingly long as you anticipated how he was going to reject you.
You were about to fall asleep when you heard someone knocking at your door. You half hoped it wasn't Todoroki, because you weren't ready for a rejection just yet. Taking in a deep breath, you opened the door to meet a familiar pair of heterochromatic orbs, the ones you loved so much. "Shou-kun..."
"Can I come in?" he asked.
"Of course." You made way for him to step inside, then you closed the door. He held the envelope in his hand.
"I read your letter," he told you. Your eyes were still a little bit blurry from closing them for so long, but you thought you vaguely saw a hint of redness on his cheeks.
"O-Oh..." You rubbed the back of your neck. "It was cheesy, wasn't it?"
"N-no...it was sweet," he replied, making the blush on your face deepen.
"I-I see..." You looked down. There was an awkward silence between the two of you. You just fidgeted as you waited for him to collect his words. Surely he must have felt guilty for rejecting a friend, so you gave him time.
"I like you too..."
What?
You looked up, eyes wide and awake. The redness on his cheek had become quite obvious. "Pardon?"
"I like you too.... A lot. I-...I was wondering if you um...." He held the envelope up, eyes darting back and forth between you and the door. "If you want to be my girlfriend...."
Holy shit.....
You slapped yourself in the face.
"(Y/N)?!?!?!?!" Todoroki exclaimed, completely horrified.
"It hurts..." you muttered at the stinging sensation on your left cheek.
"Well of course it does! It's turning red! Why did you slap yourself so hard?" Todoroki exclaimed as he quickly placed his right hand over your cheek. The cool temperature on his hand was really soothing to the pain on your face.
You chuckled, "I wanted to make sure I was actually awake!"
"Don't do that again," he said softly, brows furrowed as he gazed at you. "Promise me."
"I won't do it again Shou-kun, I promise!" You placed a hand over his right hand, tilting your head a little to rest your face in his hand. "I'm so happy this isn't a dream."
"(Y/N)..."
"Hmm?"
"Can I kiss you?"
"Yes please." You tip toed to meet his lips. You were intrigued by how half of his lip felt hot, and the other felt almost chilly. Maybe it was because he was using his quirk to cool your face. "I love you Shou-kun. I want to be your girlfriend."
"I love you too (Y/N). I want to be your boyfriend."
A/N: You know how some people spell Shouto with a ‘u’ and some people spell it Shoto, well I tend to go back and forth with it depending on my mood LOL. Idk why. Anyways! Please like if you enjoyed, and reblogs are appreciated!!! If you like my BNHA content, be sure to check out my AO3 which I post my main Bakugou x OC fanfic.
About Sunflower and White Rose
So like this isn’t really important, but I just wanted to share a little bit about how I came up with this story.
It’s really funny because I actually got this inspiration through a dream I had the previous night. In fact most of my stories are dream inspired. My dream was a modern setting, but we were doing a flower exchange. I don’t really know what it was for but it was most likely along the lines of homecoming or prom. In my dream I had this love interest. I don’t have a love interest in real life, but in the dream I did. So my love interest showed up with a white rose, but I showed up with nothing. He was about to offer his white rose to me, but a family friend offered his sunflower to me instead. Because my family friend was also an outcast, like me, I accepted the sunflower immediately. When I woke up, my first reaction was, “Wow flower exchange, that sounds pretty cool!”
Then I decided that I want to turn it into a story. I chose Bakugou because I like Bakugou, he’s my favorite husbando huehuehue. Canon/modern setting didn’t seem like a good fit, so I decided to use the Fantasy AU, and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. I really like BNHA Fantasy AU and all the tribes and tradition and rituals kinda thing.  I’m really happy so many people liked it! I just hope you guys continue to enjoy future fanfics I create!
"Let's go get our fucking blessings."
He picked two white roses from the sea of roses, and handed one to you. "For the future queen."
Time was running out, for the fire dance was about to begin. "But I don't have a fire dress." Your eyes sadden at the white rose in your hand.
Bakugou's eyes widened at you. He knew about your parents, how they got into an accident while hunting, fell out of the sky, and passed away. Traditional fire dresses are always made by the mother for their daughters. The idea was that the mother would pass down her wisdom, luck, and prosperity through the dress as a form of blessing, in hopes that the daughter would be able to find someone who will bond souls with her for eternity. "I have a solution. Come with me. We gotta hurry or we won't make it for the dance."
Oh no. Not again. Earlier you had to run with the best female hunter, but this was the best warrior. No way are you able to keep up.
Bakugou chuckled when he saw the horrified expression on your face. He picked you up in his arms, one hand supporting the center of your back and the other behind your knees. "Hang on to my neck," he whispered. Your face flushed with extreme heat as you shyly placed your arms around his neck as he instructed. Your fingers brushed against the beads of victory. Just what did you do to deserve this man? Perhaps you saved the world in your past life?
The dragon prince sprinted through the sea of roses. White petals flew into the air as he passed by. You carefully protected the two roses he picked, not wanting them to get destroyed by his superhuman speed.
He was faster than Ashido. Much faster, even with you in his arms. A cloud of dust trailed behind him as he dashed through the village, causing all the people he passed by to cough violently. "What was that?" someone asked as the dust cloud dissipated.
Midoriya was standing near the bon fire with Sero, Kaminari, Kirishima, and Ashido, waiting for the fire dance to begin. His friends told him about Bakugou, and their secret plan with you. "I see... That's great! (Y/N)-chan really likes Kacchan! I'm so happy for them!" Midoriya smiled. "I'm really, really glad."
"Are you not mad? Didn't you want her to be your partner?" Kirishima asked.
"Well, it's true that I like her, and that's all the more reason why I want her to be with the one she truly loves!" Midoriya said. "Plus, I'm going to be leaving soon to start my training as a knight. After I'm gone, she won't have any other friends in this village. That's why at the very least, I wanted her to find a partner that would treasure her for who she is. I'm so glad that person is Kacchan! I know he'll be great to her!"
"Izuku...." Ashido muttered, feeling emotional over the things he said. "Are you really leaving?" The green haired boy nodded.
"Dragon riders of the north, Holy Knights of the south. Although I've lived here most of my life, it's always been my dream to become one of the Holy Knights who serve the royal palace of the Musutafu Kingdom of the south."
"Right, Musutafu, that's where you're from, right?" Sero recalled. "Man now I kinda wanna go there just to see what it's like."
"We should totally go! After the festival is over, let's all go to Musutafu on an adventure!" Ashido exclaimed.
Suddenly, the bon fire shot up into the sky, and the sound of drums interrupted the conversation between the new adults. This was signal that the fire dance was about to begin.
"It's starting! Come on guys! Let's go!" Kaminari exclaimed as he started to drag his friends towards the bon fire, where all the young and new adults were gathering for the dance.
"Gosh, where is Katsuki and (Y/N)?! It's almost starting!" Kirishima tapped his feet worriedly.
The drum beats started getting faster. The elders walked over with bowls of face paint in their hands. Kirishima and Ashido stood still as one of the elders came up to them. She dipped her thumb in the white paint and glided her finger across their faces. Face paint is a symbol of adulthood. Before the fire dance, elders will paint the youngsters' faces as a coming of age ceremony. Once the face paint was done, they are officially independent members of society.
"You think they can make it?" Ashido asked Kirishima with her brows furrowed. She interlocked fingers with the red dragon, squeezing her lover's hand as they scanned the area.
"They'll make it." Kirishima squeezed back. It's their perfect prince they were talking about. There should be no reason for him to worry.
As the drums got louder and louder, faster and faster, the young ones all knelt around the bon fire as it rose higher and higher, as if reaching for the heavens. The shaman chanted in their old tongue, praying to the fire god to bless the young warriors of the tribe. Sweat dripped down the foreheads of the young dragons as they basked in the heat of the flames.
Sounds of beads clinking against each other echoed in the opening as the shaman waved his staff in the air.
Kirishima looked up when he heard sudden outbursts of gasps coming from all around them. The loud gasps interrupted the shaman's chants, and everyone lifted their heads to see what was going on.
Ashido's jaws dropped when she saw you. But that's-
"Is that-" Some girls in the tribe pointed at you in disbelief. "Why is she with-"
"Why is that failure walking with Prince Katsuki?!"
"Somebody tell me this isn't true..."
The older women clasped their hands to their mouths in disbelief when they saw the dress you were wearing.
You and Bakugou walked hand in hand, the bells on your golden ankle cuffs jingling every time you took a step. Bakugou couldn't take his eyes off of you as he led you towards the bon fire. A beautiful golden choker wrapped itself perfectly around your neck. The cloth piece on your breasts were in a sunflower pattern, and a thin golden cloth attached below it hugged your torso perfectly, accentuating your curves. The bottom of the golden cloth attached to another piece of the same sunflower patterned belt around your hips. Under the belt were long thin sashes that started out gold but slowly mix into red at the very end. You wore golden cuffs around your wrists, arms, thighs, and ankles, each with beads and bells dangling on them.
That dress...was the queen's gown.
Tumblr media
Everyone in the village recognized that dress. It wasn't a traditional fire dress, but the gown passed down for generations, only worn by the queen on her wedding day.
When Bakugou brought you into his parents' yurt, Mitsuki and Masaru were shocked. "Old Hag, the golden gown!" Bakugou ordered.
"But I thought (Y/N)-chan and Izuku were..." Masaru pointed at you confusedly and then darted his finger outside the yurt.
"The gown! Now!" Bakugou shouted.
Mitsuki immediately understood his son's intentions. She grabbed the wooden case lying at the corner of the yurt and quickly opened it, revealing the beautiful treasure of the tribe. Before you could as anyone what was going on, Mitsuki shoved Masaru and Bakugou out of the yurt and stripped you down of your grey dress and helped you put on the golden gown only worn by queens.
"You are beautiful my dear," Mitsuki said to you once you were finished changing.
"Is it really okay for me to wear this?" you asked your queen.
"Katsuki has chosen you, so this dress will be yours eventually anyways. What difference does it make to wear it now?" Mitsuki smiled at you. She called her son and husband back. When Bakugou lifted the front curtain, he froze. Was that (Y/N)?! He didn't think it was possible for you to get any prettier than you already are, but there you were! Standing right before him, in that beautiful golden dress. His face instantly turned fifty shades of red as he tried to find the right words to utter. "Don't just stand there Katsuki. Tell her how stunning she looks!" Mitsuki rolled her eyes at her son.
"Uh- I- You-... Wow...." Bakugou tripped over his words. Seeing him all flustered made your face burn as well. Your ears felt so hot it was as if they were melting.
"Wow indeed. Now let me get the face paint," Mitsuki went outside the yurt. Masaru patted his son on the back, giving him a light push towards you. Bakugou stumbled right in front of you. His eyes traveled up and down your figure, taking in every detail and every curve. God you were sexy.
"C-Can we get married right now?" he asked.
"Eh?!" You exclaimed.
"I got the face paint!" Mitsuki said as she came back to the yurt. "Now kneel down you two." She mixed the paint with a stick as she and Masaru stood in front of you and Bakugou.
You fell to your knees obediently before your king and queen. Bakugou, on the other hand, crossed his arms rebelliously. "I'm not kneeling."
"Kneel the fuck down and receive your blessings!" Mitsuki growled as she kicked him behind the knees, knocking him down. Your eyes widened in shock as your prince fell down next to you.
Masaru and Mitsuki exchanged glances, grins spreading on both their faces as they dipped their thumbs into the paint. Masaru held Bakugou's chin up, and drew the first line down his chin. "The first line represents bravery. May you stand tall and fierce even against the most dangerous beasts," Masaru said.
"The second line represents freedom. May nothing stand in your way, nothing bind you down," Mitsuki said as she drew the second line on your face.
"The third line represents strength. May your powers bring you nothing but victory home, bringing honor to you and your loved ones."
You looked down. The paint felt extremely heavy on your face. You didn't know if you were worthy of such blessings. Noticing the look in your eyes, Bakugou took your hand in his. You glanced at him as he smiled back. His eyes told you to keep listening.
"The fourth line represents kindness. May your heart be pure, and your words be gentle." What? Your eyes widened as you looked up at Mitsuki, who smiled down at you while drawing the line on the right side of your cheek. Was kindness always a virtue of your people?
"The fifth line represents empathy. May you open your eyes to the suffering of others. Rule over them through understanding, not through fear."
These weren't virtues of dragons, but the virtues of kings and queens.
"The sixth line represents mercy. May evil, hate, and vengeance never find its way into your heart."
Your eyes began to water again, and Bakugou's grip on your hand tightened. These weren't just blessings of adulthood...
"The seventh line," Masaru began as he placed his thumb into the paint, then pressed it against the side of Bakugou's face, next to his ear. He then glided the finger across, over his nose bridge, all the way to the other side of his face. "Represents eternity. May your love last for all your lifetimes to come."
These were marriage blessings given only to the kings and queens from the previous kings and queens.
"Now go, the fire dance is about to start."
Here you stood, next to Bakugou, with your face painted. The six vertical lines represent virtues of the rulers. The horizontal line represents love and eternity. The shaman went back to finishing his chant as you and Bakugou knelt down by the fire beside Kirishima and Ashido. Kirishima smiled at Bakugou. You made it! His eyes seem to convey.
Fuck yeah, of course I'd make it, Bakugou smirked at his best friend.
Exclamations of disbelief wouldn't settle down, but that didn't stop the music from playing. All the couples took out the flowers they had exchanged the day before, and tossed them into the fire as offering to Hino and proof of their love. You and Bakugou kissed your roses, and gently tossed them into the fire. At that moment the fire burst into the air, and everyone gasped. Bakugou pulled you back so you wouldn't get scorched by the sudden eruption of flames.
"Everybody calm down! This is a sign that Hino has received your offerings!" The shaman shouted. He then looked towards Bakugou and you. "And he has given his blessings."
You and Bakugou smiled at each other. He pulled you in for a passionate kiss, and the two of you joined in on the fire dance.
Everyone knew the fire dance. It was the most sacred ritual of your culture. You and Bakugou tapped your feet as he held one hand around your waist. The new adults circled around the bon fire, dancing to the beats of the drums, following the rhythm of the music. Bakugou held his right hand up, and you pressed your right palm to his. The two of you circled around with your hands intertwined, then he pulled you back into his arms.
"I love you," he whispered.
"I love you too Katsuki."
The dance ended with all the couples sharing a passionate kiss. Bakugou cupped your cheeks with both hands and pressed his lips against yours. You gently placed your arms around his bare torso, scooting your bodies closer until his stomach pressed yours.
His tongue gentle laced with yours, a fiery and tingly feeling traveling from the tip of your tongue all the way to the tips of your toes.
You could hear the horrified screams echoing throughout the village, but none of that mattered anymore.
As crazy as it is, the dragon prince has chosen the failure.
Legend says that when Hino fell in love with the mortal Nue, he broke the heart of countless beautiful goddesses in heaven. They could not believe Hino would choose a plain mortal like her, who'd eventually grow old and wrinkly, over eternal beauties like them.
It was said that the goddesses got so jealous of Nue that they each placed a curse on her. One goddess cursed Nue to be a coward. One goddess cursed Nue to be weak. One goddess cursed Nue to be forever alone, an outcast that will never fit in. Once the curses were placed, Nue was so sad that she turned very ill. Hino was so angered by the goddesses that he burned down all of their temples. He told Nue not to fear the curse, because he will be with her. No matter when, no matter where, he will find her in every lifetime, and he will love her, protect her, and keep her company so she will never be alone.
"AAAAHHHHHHHHH!" Kirishima had to hold his hands over his sensitive ears when Bakugou started screaming over the cliff. Bakugou wasn't a dragon shapeshifter, but his roar was almost as loud as one. "FUCK!!!!" He growled at the valley. "FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!"
"Calm down Katsuki!" Kirishima shouted.
"How the fuck do you expect me to fucking calm down!? How?! She's fucking partnered! And of all people, she's partnered with that shitty Deku!" Bakugou whirled around, flailing his arms in the air as if he were going to slap someone. "NnggggGGGRAHHH!" He threw his fist into the ground, denting it as well as injuring his knuckles. How he wished he could go to you, so you could heal his hand, but you were now someone else's partner. "Why...?"
"Well you didn't exactly give her a choice," said Kirishima. "Izuku was the only one who asked her."
"She asked him!" Bakugou reminded.
"Well of course she would. He gave her his flower! It'd be rude not to, considering he's the only one willing to give her flowers."
"I'm willing! What the fuck did you think I was saving that flower for?" Bakugou howled.
"BUT YOU DIDN'T! YOU RAN AWAY!"
Kirishima's words were like knives that stabbed right into Bakugou's already wounded heart. That's right. He ran away. He didn't even try. Why? Why didn't he try? Was he afraid? Afraid of what? Getting rejected? That's hilarious. Who in the right mind would reject him? You would. You definitely would. After all the harsh things he's said to you, after all the names he's called you. Why would you even accept his affection? You were afraid of him. He could tell by the way you cower in his presence.
"Fuuck..." Bakugou grabbed a fistful of his bangs. He sank down to the ground, squatting as he tried to hold back the tears in his eyes. He messed up. He really messed up. He's such a horrible person. He doesn't deserve you. He doesn't deserve to be king.
Kirishima pretended not to notice the little streams gliding down the prince's cheeks. In their culture, crying was looked down upon. As royalty, he must never cry, not even when in pain. However, as his friend, Kirishima understood that Bakugou had it harder than anyone. He had to be dauntless, had to be strong. He had to be free, and he had to be perfect. Maybe that was why he was so attracted to you. You were the opposite of perfect. You were a scaredy-cat, and you were clumsy. You were bounded to the ground, and was hella weak.
But perhaps you were the one who was truly free. You were free from expectations, free from traditions. You were always out there learning new things, and being yourself without worrying that others might change their impression of you, since their impression weren't so great to begin with. In a way, he envied you. But what he envied you the most, was that kindness.
He gets mad easily, and always ends up saying hurtful things. He holds grudges, and he makes sure to return them tenfold. You, on the other hand, accepted all the negativity of others, and only returned with respect. You show empathy to all creatures. You possess qualities he secretly wished he had but never will have.
He tried his best to change for you. Ashido, Sero, Kaminari, and Kirishima can all prove that. For the past few weeks he's been doing his best to control his swearing and refrain from calling them by the mean nicknames. It was all practice so he could talk to you normally. He can't believe all that practice went to nothing.
"Hey man, it's not over yet. You still have a chance," Kirishima placed a hand on Bakugou's shoulder.
"How? She already accepted his fucking flower," Bakugou grumbled.
"Come on man! The flower exchange isn't the main event! It's just an excuse for people to confess to their loved ones! The main event is the fire dance! Remember? Only true lovers who dance together at the fire dance will be blessed by the fire god, and their love will last for lifetimes to come!"
"What are you getting at?"
"What I mean is there's still time! The dance isn't until tomorrow night! You just have to confess your feelings and get her to dance with you by tomorrow night!"
That sounds easy, but how was he going to do that? Beat Deku up and take you by force? That would just make you hate him even more. Plus, what if you reject him?
"Stop thinking about the what-ifs!" Kirishima exclaimed, as if reading his mind. "You don't know how it's gonna turn out unless you try Katsuki! If you don't pursue her you're really going to lose her! Do you want that?"
The idea of getting rejected by you was humiliating, but the idea of losing you because he never bothered to try was even worse. "Alright....." A ghost of a smile appeared on Bakugou's lips. "But I'll need some preparations."
Kirishima's face lit up with excitement. "You got it man! Mina, Denki, and Hanta and I are ready to help any time!"
It was almost sundown. You were grinding the herbs you had collected earlier today. When you saw the sun start to set, you quickly picked up the Alstroemeria that you had picked for Midoriya. You didn't have a flower for him yesterday, so you planned to return one today. You hoped he'd like it.
Midoriya showed up right on time. The sky was a beautiful orange red, a sign that the fire god had descended from heaven.
Legend says that thousands of years ago, the fire god, Hino, descended from heaven, and fell in love with a mortal, Nue. They married and had a child. That child was the first fire breather, the dragon. When Hino's mortal wife passed away, he was very sad. In order to see her again, he bound their souls together, and descended from heaven. It is said that when two souls are bound, they will always be able to find each other, in all of their lifetimes. And they will fall in love, over, and over again, for eternity. To celebrate their love, their descendants would hold a festival every year on the day the fire god was said to have descended to earth. And it is said, true lovers who dance the fire dance together will get their blessings from the fire god, so they too can bind their souls for eternity.
"Ready?" Midoriya asked.
"Before we go, I want to give you this," you said as you handed him the Alstroemeria. "I'm sorry I didn't have a flower for you yesterday."
"That's okay, and thank you. I love it," Midoriya smiled as he accepted the orange and yellow flower from your hand.
The two of you headed into the depth of the village, where the festival was being held. Torches were set up all over the sides of the streets, and there were games and competitions, food and dances!
You and Midoriya went to the carpenter's yurt, where he had set up a floor full of dragon masks. He gave you and Midoriya each a dragon mask, which you two wore on the side of your faces, and the two of you headed to the next yurt.
When the two of you finally made it to the banquet, you were starving. The fire festival is the biggest event of the year, and the food of the banquet is hunted by the best hunters of the tribe, prepared by the best cooks too. Each year they'd prepare three days worth of food for the entire village. You swore you'd eat a whole year's worth of meat, because after this day you'll have to wait for the next year.
"(Y/N)! Izuku! Heyyy! Finally found you guys!" While you and Midoriya were grabbing food, you heard a familiar voice call out your names.
"Eijirou-kun? Mina-chan? Hanta-kun and Denki-kun too?" Midoriya raised a brow. "Why were you looking for the two of us?"
You noticed how Bakugou wasn't with them, and there was a hint of disappointment in your heart. However, on the bright side, he may have found a partner, and was currently with them right now. Wait, why does that hurt even more?
"Well we were going around the festival as a group, and we wanted to ask if you guys wanna join us!" Ashido said. You're brows lifted in surprise. It's not uncommon for friends to travel in groups, but the fire festival is really a couples thing, so you were surprised to see Kirishima and Ashido traveling with Sero and Kaminari.
"I guess I'm okay with it! What about you (Y/N)-chan?" Midoriya asked you.
"Yeah! The more the merrier!" You replied. In truth you weren't close with any of them, but since they were Midoriya's friends, you didn't want to be rude.
"Great! Wait... (Y/N)-chan why aren't you wearing your fire dress?" Ashido asked, looking up and down at your plain, grey thin strapped dress which ended at your knees. You had a tight belt on your waist with some accessories dangling, but it was nothing different from you normally wore.
The dragon women don't normally wear dresses, but the fire dress was different. It is a traditional outfit especially for the fire dance. It's usually made by the mother for the daughter. Everyone's fire dress is different, but it is generally always in brilliant shades of reds, orange, and yellows. Ashido's fire dress was very similar to her normal wear. It was a red and black zebra print breast cover, and she wore one metallic breast plate over her left breast, as she normally would when she was out riding dragons. She had two long sashes flowing down in front and behind her legs. The sashes were a beautiful red, mixing into orange and yellow at the end.
"I...don't have anyone to make one for me," you told her. Your mother passed away when you were very little. Ashido quickly placed a hand over her mouth, regretting asking the question. "Plus, Izuku and I don't plan on doing the fire dance."
"Why is that?" Kirishima asked.
"Well, the fire dance is a lovers thing. We're just friends, so we think we'll just stand by and watch," Midoriya chuckled.
A soft smirk made its way to Kirishima and his friends' lips. Suddenly, Ashido clapped her hands together. "Ahh! I suddenly have the urge to relieve myself! But it's gotten so dark, it's not safe out here! (Y/N)-chan do you wanna come with me?" she asked.
"Eh? Uh...sure...." You couldn't say no. Ashido winked at Kirishima and grabbed you by the wrist. Without warning she dashed off, dragging you with her. "AAHH!" You were not a good runner. Especially not against the strongest female warrior of your tribe.
You noticed how she dragged you straight out of the village, which was weird because there were multiple places in the village where people did their business. The dragon mask on your head fell to the ground, but she didn't give you a chance to pick it up. But she didn't give you a chance to ask because you were busy trying to breathe while running through the meadows.
When she finally came to a stop, you immediately fell to the ground. You let go of her hand as you fell to your knees and gasped for air. Your sweat dripped onto the hard soil in pitter patters. Your chest expanded and shrunk exaggeratedly as you tried to intake as much air as possible. "A-....Ashido...-san....why did you....bring me here?" you panted.
She didn't answer you, instead she called out to the darkness. "Hey! I brought her! Make sure you don't fuck up this time!" she shouted. You felt your blood go cold. What did she want with you all the way outside the village? Was she gonna kill you?
You were about to scream, but you heard a familiar voice shout back, "SHUT THE FUCK UP RACOON EYES!"
Ashido chuckled before turning to you. "Sorry I tricked ya! Please forgive me. If all goes well, that guy will bring you back," she pointed her thumb towards the dark outskirts of the meadow.
"What?" You asked. You couldn't see a thing in the darkness.
Ashido's chest expanded. She blew out puffs of fire all around them, each puff of fire landing on a torch, lighting it, until ten torches were lit all around them. Your eyes widened at the sight before you. White roses. White roses everywhere. You thought you were taken to a meadow, but this was a sea of white roses. But for some reason there were no thorns poking at you. Why is that?
"Alright, I'm out!" Ashido suddenly disappeared.
"What?" You stood up, turning around, but she was gone.
"I'm sorry... I got those shitty bastards to help me, but removing the thorns took some time." A familiar voice said in an unfamiliar tone. You turned around again, this time to face the torches. At the very center, stood a familiar spiky ash blonde man with breathtaking crimson eyes. He wore earrings made of the red hawk's talons, necklaces made of the great howlers' blue claws. Each bead on his neck was a proof of the number of battles he's won. A furry red cape slung over his shoulders, covering the back of his bare torso. It was none other than your prince.
"Prince Katsuki? What are you doing here? What about the fire festival?" you asked in disbelief, still trying to make sense of the situation.
Bakugou slowly made his way towards you through the roses. "Yesterday, I messed up and lost my partner to someone else. Right now, I'm getting her back," he said.
"Partner? To who? Ashido just left though!" You pointed to the direction behind you. Your eyes expanded at the same pace as him getting closer to you. Finally, he was standing right before you, his figure towering over you like a tall and almighty dragon. It was rude to look royalty in the eye, but for some reason you couldn't take yours away from his.
"I know I said a lot of mean things to you... I never thanked you for saving me, and keeping my secret... I'm not the nicest person, and I'm not worthy of your kindness...but still... I want to tell you that I love you... I love you (Y/N). I want to be your partner. I want to get the fire god's blessing with you." Under the torch light, you could vaguely see a hint of red over Bakugou's cheeks. His beautiful rubies gazed right into your (e/c) gems.
"What...." You were utterly lost for words. Did your ears play tricks on you? Because just now you felt like you heard your prince ask you to be his partner. "M-...Me?!" You pointed at yourself, gawking at him for confirmation.
Bakugou clicked his tongue impatiently. "Well who else in the village has a shitty name like (Y/N)?!" Crap! "I-I mean- You're the only one named (Y/N).... Your name isn't shitty...." He looked down in guilt, and then lifted his eyes back up expectantly. "So.... What's your answer?" His face was turning as red as his eyes.
Little streams started pouring out of your confused eyes. Your prince, the one who you've been in love with, just told you he loved you. This has to be a dream. But if it's a dream please don't let you wake up. "B-But..... That's impossible... I'm just.... These white roses, you must have prepared them for someone special! Because that flower means- I'm-"
"These are your favorite flowers right? I prepared them for you!" Bakugou gently took your hand in his. He searched in your teary eyes trying to look for the answer he needed. "Is it not?"
"F-...For me?"
That's when you realized, there's no way Bakugou would have known the meaning of these flowers. The dragon tribe don't give meanings to flowers like the people of the south do. They just picked whatever was the most colorful and vibrant. A light chuckle escaped your lips, for you felt so silly for forgetting such a thing.
Now it all made sense. The white rose he brought to the flower exchange, and why he suddenly ran off. But you still couldn't believe it. "It is...." You nodded softly to answer his previous question.
"Why do you...like the white rose?" Bakugou asked.
You covered your tearful eyes with your free hand. Your breaths became staggered as you started to sob, "Because....I'm in love with a man." Bakugou felt his heart stop at your words. "He's the bravest, strongest, most handsome man in the tribe. He's of royal descent..... He's someone I shouldn't even dream of being with...." Huh? Brave... Strong... Royal descent... Why does Bakugou feel like you're talking about him? You're talking about him, right? "These flowers...have a special meaning in the south. They symbolize the words I want to tell him but would never be able to...."
Bakugou removed your hand from your beautiful (e/c) orbs. Even with tears in them, they were still so breathtakingly beautiful. His heart pounded in his chest as he leaned his face closer to yours, eyes wide and anticipating. "What do they mean?" he asked, so softly that even right next to him you could barely hear his voice.
Your eyes trailed down, almost in shame.
"I'm worthy of you."
Your voice was so soft you could barely hear yourself. The moment you uttered those words you wish you hadn't. How could you say such a thing to Bakugou? Just what exactly do you have that makes you even think you might be worthy of him? You started to chuckle nervously, not noticing the wide eyed look on the ash blonde prince's face. "S-Silly right? How could a failure like me ever be worthy of your highness... I'll just go-"
Before you could finish, Bakugou grabbed your face with both hands and smashed his lips on yours. He couldn't put words together to tell you how wrong you are, so he had to show you through action.
You are not a failure.
You stood wide eyed, too shocked to move a muscle. You and Prince Katsuki were kissing.
For the longest time the only thing you could hear was the heart of your own heartbeat. After what seemed like a hundred beats, Bakugou finally released his lips from yours. "Don't say that...." he whispered. "Don't call yourself a failure. You're more than worthy (Y/N)."
"D-Do you mean it?"
"Be my queen (Y/N)." Bakugou brushed his thumbs under your eyes, wiping away the tears. "Like my old hag is to me old man. Like Nue is to Hino. Let our souls be bonded for eternity."
Tears flooded down your face, for you could no longer contain the happiness you felt. You nodded. "I love you my prince. I also want to be with you for lifetimes to come!"
You closed your eyes as his lips captured yours once again. For that moment everything seemed to have disappeared, leaving you and Bakugou, the only two souls in this world. It was just the moon, the fire, the roses, and the two of you.
You were filled with disappointment when his lips parted from yours. However, a soft smile spread over your lips as he pressed his forehead against yours. "Let's go get our fucking blessings."
Enjoy!
“Katsuki! Where are you going?! You haven’t even found a partner!” Mitsuki called out.
“Prince!”
“My Prince!”
“Katsuki!” Kirishima dashed off to go after Bakugou.
“Kacchan?” Midoriya’s brows furrowed with worry. You too, gazed at the direction your prince had just ran off to. The beautiful white petals of the rose he had were now shredded on the ground. It pained you to see your favorite flower laying on the ground in such a tattered state. Suddenly remembering you had just asked him to be your partner, Midoriya turned back to you, “Oh right! A-Are you sure you wanna g-go with me?”
“Yeah! Of course! Who else would I go with? It’s not like I have any other friends,” you chuckled at him.
“But I thought you liked-” Midoriya didn’t finish the sentence, instead he looked towards the direction where the ash blonde prince had just ran off.
The smile on your face threatened to falter, but you forced it to stay in place. The corner of your mouth twitched a little as you chuckled, “Who told you that?”
“Well- I mean-…. The way you look at him…” Midoriya looked down guiltily. He had always been perceptive, but he didn’t mean to pry into your privacy.
You finally couldn’t hold your smile anymore, and your eyes trailed down to the ground. You placed the sunflower over your nose, breathing in its refreshing scent as you said, “The white rose may be beautiful, but only those brave enough to face its thorns are worthy of taking it home.”
“But-” Midoriya wanted to refute, but the look in your eyes told him that you didn’t want to argue. “Alright… I’ll pick you up at sundown tomorrow to go to the festival. Does that sound good?”
“Yep! See you tomorrow Izuku! Thanks for the sunflower!” You twirled the yellow flower in your hand.
Midoriya went home with his mother, and you also left to go back to your small yurt, where you lived alone. There was a small fire place at the center of the yurt, and on top of the wolf fur nest laid an injured rabbit you were caring for. You stuck the sunflower in a pot, placing it by the entrance, where it could receive sunlight. Then, you sat down next to the small rabbit and ran your hand along its fur. A soft sigh escaped your lips before you plopped down on your little nest.
To say you didn’t like the dragon prince would be a big, fat, lie. Just like all the other people in the tribe, you admired him. He was brave, free, handsome, and powerful. He was everything the dragon race prided themselves to be. There was no doubt that he would make a great king.
Originally, you were just going to watch him from afar, like all his other admirers. You knew your place, so you never tried to get close to him. You didn’t think twice before saving him when he fell out of the sky because that was your duty as a member of the tribe. You never expected yourself to catch feelings for the prince, but you did.
When you cleaned his wounds in the cave, your eyes couldn’t help but roam around his toned upper body, from those six pack abdominal muscles to the bulky biceps. When your (e/c) eyes met his fierce crimson orbs, you quickly looked away to hide the obvious heat on your face. He was handsome. He was sinfully handsome. However, that wasn’t what made you fall for the haughty ash blonde.
You were rewrapping his broken arm when suddenly you felt his finger brush your bruised cheek. “Who did this?” he asked. You quickly pulled your face away and covered the bruise with your hand.
“Ehehe,” you chuckled. It was a habit of yours whenever you were nervous. “I fell…” You didn’t want him to know that you were getting rocks thrown at you back in the village. You didn’t want him to think you were weak. Weak people had no place amongst the dragons. When you caught his narrowed eyes and furrowed brows, you looked away, praying to the gods that he bought your lie.
The people of your tribe hunt for their own food. Ever since your parents passed away you had to learn how to hunt for yourself. And to be fair, you were not the best hunter. The rest of your people all hunted with their dragons, while you had to lay traps and learn how to use the bow and arrow. However, each time you catch something in your trap, you’d end up letting it go. When you look at those little animals in the eye, you couldn’t help but feel sorry. If they were hurt by your trap, you’d apologize over and over and over again and end up bringing them home to heal. Before you knew it you were surviving on herbs and berries.
However, now that you had to provide for the prince and his dragon, it was a different story. You couldn’t kill, but they can. You’d bring them the game you hunted, and Kirishima would do the killing and skinning, while Bakugou did the cooking.
Serving the prince was your duty, but eating with him was a privilege you didn’t have, so you just sat to the side when they ate. However, the smell of the cooked rabbit made your mouth water. It’s been ages since you last ate meat. Grrrrrrrrr! Your cheeks flushed a dark shade of crimson when your stomach let out the loudest growl you’ve ever heard. “E-Excuse me!” You got up and was about to leave, but Bakugou grabbed you by the hand and pulled you down by the fire.
He tossed you a rabbit leg and simply uttered the word, “Eat.”
The rabbit meat was utterly delicious, and it reminded you of your late parents. You held back the tears from falling out of your eye sockets because you didn’t want to show your prince weakness, so you turned away slightly and ate in silence.
“Hey Failure.” That was the first time Bakugou ever voluntarily started a conversation with you. You were used to being called names, so you weren’t at all bothered by this offensive nickname he gave you. “Why are you always hanging with that Shitty Deku outside the village?”
Normally you would have answered, “Because I like to study herbs.” However, at that moment, memories of your peers throwing rocks at you came flooding into your head.
“Go away weakling! You don’t belong here!”
“Get out! You’re a disgrace to the dragon blood!”
“I-….I don’t belong here…” you replied as you shrunk in your seat.
“Hah?! What are you talking about? You were born and raised here. You have dragon blood flowing in your veins. Where else would you fucking belong?” Bakugou demanded in a confused and almost angry tone. His words rendered you wide eyed. You quickly excused yourself before tears started rolling out of your sockets and pouring down your face like waterfalls. You ran to the flowerbed and crouched down on the ground and started bawling your eyes out. For the first time in your life, you were accepted as a dragon’s blood. He may have a harsh mouth, but he accepted your difference. You fell madly in love with the ash blonde prince.
You knew he was out of your league, and you were fine with it. He was the prince, the bravest warrior, the next king. You were a laughingstock, a loser, a failure. Even blind people could see that you two did not belong together. Yet you secretly prayed that his arm would never heal. When it did, you prayed that he’d come visit you at the flowerbed. When he did visit, which for some reason he did often, you prayed he’d stay longer. You were too scared to talk to him whenever he and Kirishima rested at the flowerbed, and he rarely talked to you.
That’s exactly how it’s supposed be. He is the prince. You are the failure. You two were meant to walk opposite directions.
White roses. Inko told you that in the South, white roses hold a special meaning. Ever since you learned the meaning, it has been your favorite flower.
You sat in front of the rose bush for hours before the flower exchange, from morning to afternoon. You gently cut a rose off of the bush, and carefully removed the thorns. You gazed at the flower with a soft smile for hours, contemplating on whether or not you should present him with this flower as a token of your love. Nonetheless, you knew he wouldn’t accept it.
There are countless young women in your tribe. Each one of them were prettier, braver, stronger than you. There’s Ashido Mina, the best female hunter of your tribe. She would make a great queen for Bakugou. You? You’d be lucky if there’d be anybody willing to partner with you as friends.
What do you do? You can’t imagine yourself giving the white rose to anyone other than Bakugou. Maybe you should just go with Hydrangea, as thanks for whoever is willing to partner with a loser such as yourself. But why bother? No such person exists. Then you thought about Midoriya. Perhaps you should prepare an Alstroemeria. No, even he had more friends in the village than you. Rather than partnering with you, he’d be much better off partnering with Sero or Kaminari.
Looks like you’d be the laughingstock of the village again. The only one to attend the fire festival without a partner. “I’m sorry for cutting you off. I’ll plant you back into the earth,” you whispered to the white rose as you dug a small hole to stick it in. Roses could grow from cuttings, so you hoped this one would be able to sprout roots and form a new bush on its own.
When you got to the flower exchange event, it was already packed with people. From afar, you could see Bakugou surrounded by a hoard of both boys and girls. He held a white rose in his hand. Your eyes stung when you saw the white rose. Just who exactly was he planning on giving that flower to?
Then you saw Midoriya. He stood at the corner awkwardly with a sunflower in his hand. You saw that he was too shy to approach anyone, and nobody approached him. Instantly you regretted not preparing the Alstroemeria, so you just stood as far from him as possible, hoping he wouldn’t see you, and that he’d find someone else to be his partner, someone else that deserved the sunflower. You quickly took interest in the pebbles on the ground, completely unaware that most people had already paired up, and left the center area where the exchange took place.
“(Y/N)-chan where’s your flower?” Mitsuki’s voice startled you from behind. You immediately recognized the queen.
“Ehehe~” you chuckled as you scratched the back of your head guiltily. “I forgot about that,” you lied.
“Bet she knows that no one’s going to partner with her, so she just didn’t bring one,” someone laughed. That caused you to chuckle some more, because they were absolutely spot on.
“(Y/N)-chan. If you don’t have a flower, I’ll give you mine!” your only friend walked up to you and held out the beautiful sunflower towards you.
Your cheeks flustered with embarrassment and guilt while you replied, “Izuku what about you? Aren’t you going to exchange flowers with someone?”
“Well, it’s not like someone is going to partner with an outsider like me for something as important as the fire festival. This is such an important tradition to your culture, you should take it,” Midoriya placed the sunflower in your hand. “In fact I was….actually going to give it to you in the first place….”
You felt awful, but you decided to ask him to be your partner.
You were shocked that the prince would suddenly run away without finding a partner. Just a moment ago he was surrounded by pursuers. That was when you noticed that Ashido had already partnered with Kirishima. Maybe he’s upset because Ashido likes Kirishima… And so it made sense for Kirishima to go after him since they were friends.
And that leads you back to here, your little yurt and your wolf fur bed. You prayed to the fire god that your prince would find a partner worthy of him, and get their blessings tomorrow at the dance.
A/N: Crap I was gonna make this a 2 part story, guess it’s going into 3! Gosh darn it! (When stories get too long I tend to like to split into chapters of 2k words)
IMPORTANT: PLEASE DON’T LOOK UP THE FLOWER LANGUAGE! I WILL REVEAL IT IN PART 3! PLEASE REFRAIN FROM LOOKING IT UP! THANK YOU
The northern tribe of the dragon riders had a tradition. Every year, the tribe holds a fire festival, also known as the coming-of-age festival, to celebrate those step foot into adulthood. All the 16 year olds will gather around the bon fire to dance with their partners. It is said that lovers who dance together will be blessed by the fire god, and their love will last for all their lifetimes to come.
Bakugou Katsuki was prince of the tribe, and the bravest, most skilled dragon rider of their generation. He is the dream man of almost all the young ladies in the tribe. This year, he was to come of age. The young fifteen and fourteen year olds cried to their parents, asking why they weren’t born a year or two earlier.
Little did they know the young prince already had his eyes on someone. You.
You were quite the black sheep of the tribe. The tribe was full of dragon shapeshifters and riders. Your people were known for bravery and freedom. Children were taught at a young age how to soar through the sky, whether it be on their own wings, or riding a winged one. You, on the other hand, were terrified of heights.
You were often made fun of by your peers. Even Bakugou himself had once made fun of you for being a coward when the two of you were just children.
However, you had the kindest soul the world has to offer. Even though you were the laughingstock of your generation, you never got mad or embarrassed. You simply smiled and treated everyone with respect. You weren’t jealous of those who soared the sky. Instead you focused on the wonders the earth had to offer.
Because you were neither a rider nor a shapeshifter, you made good friends with Midoriya Izuku, the young outsider who lived a few miles outside the tribe. He and his mother had moved here when he was very little. Although the tribe had a reputation for being savages and fearful of outsiders, the dragon tribe was actually very welcoming. Bakugou’s mother made friends with Midoriya’s mother almost immediately, and Midoriya was raised alongside of the youngsters of the tribe. However, because Bakugou often made fun of Midoriya for being scrawny and weak, Midoriya had few friends in the village. Midoriya’s mother was a healer, so Midoriya too, studied medicine.
You were always fascinated by herbs and flowers, so you often went to Midoriya’s house to learn from them. When you weren’t at their house, you often laid in the flowerbed, enjoying the scent of nature.
How Bakugou fell for you was an accident, literally. He and Kirishima, his dragon, were soaring through the skies, practicing the new tricks they’ve learned, and that was when the accident happened. Bakugou lost balance, and accidentally steered Kirishima into a large boulder on the top of the mountain, and the two fell right onto the flowerbed you were laying on. Thousands of flowers were crushed under the large red dragon, petals and pollen scattered into the sky and then falling down like rain.
You stood in the sea of flowers, wide eyed. The prince had fallen. The best rider of the tribe had fallen. You quickly rushed over to the fallen prince and his dragon. Kirishima was protected by his strong and sturdy scales, so he only ended up with scratch wounds and maybe a concussion. Bakugou, on the other hand, broke his left arm.
When Bakugou saw you his eyes widened with horror as his face turned into a deep shade of crimson. Someone had saw him fall out of the sky. Of all people to see him embarrass himself, it was you, the loser of the tribe. “Don’t you fucking dare tell anyone about this! Or else I’ll kill you!” he threatened you.
“O-Okay!” You nodded timidly. “B-But your arm is broken. It needs to get treated immediately or-”
“SHUT THE FUCK UP! I DON’T NEED HELP FROM A FUCKING FAILURE!” He slapped your hand away.
“Katsuki that’s not very nice. She’s just trying to help!” Kirishima said when he transformed back into his human form. Despite his insults, you didn’t hesitate to help him and Kirishima to a small cave far away from the village, where they can rest and heal in peace. Normally, when dragons or riders get injured, they’d call a shaman to do a few chants, and let the gods heal their wound. Herbs and medicine are foreign practices that were not used in the tribe, so when you brought the medicine you had made for the prince and his dragon, he refused to let you put it on him.
Kirishima, on the other hand, was very open to these foreign stuff. He let you put your homemade creams on his scrape wounds to stop the bleeding. “Oh man this feels so good! Katsuki you gotta try it!”
After a lot of persuading, Bakugou finally let you put some medicine on his scrape wounds. The cream stung at first, but after the stinging sensation was over, it left a cool feeling on his skin that soothed the pain. Bakugou couldn’t help but notice how the wounds healed much faster with the strange green plant juice you put on him than the chants of the shaman. Eventually, he let you wrap his arm to a stick, which you said will help his arm heal.
You tore the cloth to your dress, shortening it to barely over your butt. You gently raised his broken left arm, placed two straight logs to either side of his arm, and wrapped the cloth around them. Only then did Bakugou finally take a closer look at you for the first time in his entire life. For a failure, you were breathtakingly beautiful. Your (e/c) orbs seemed to sparkle under the moonlight, and from your (h/c) hair, he could smell a faint scent of flowers.
Every day you’d come back with food, water, and medicine. While Kirishima’s wounds were healed a long time ago, he waited with Bakugou for his arm to recover. Before Bakugou knew it, he began looking forward to seeing you everyday.
You almost always had cuts and bruises on you somewhere. Bakugou knew exactly how you got those. Ever since you were a kid you were always bullied by the other children in the village. You and Midoriya were always the targets of their rock throwing and sharp shooting practices. Although Bakugou never bothered to join in, he used to always scoff at your miserable state. Now, seeing those dark purple patches over your skin, he could only feel his blood boil. “Who did it?” he’d ask, but you would only show him that annoyingly goofy smile of yours, telling him that you fell, when you clearly didn’t.
He didn’t know why he felt a strange disappointment inside him when you told him he was fully healed. “You can go back now,” you said.
“Alright! Now we can go flying again!” Kirishima cheered.
Bakugou stared at his left arm, now good as new. Your medicine worked miracles. He couldn’t even find a single scar on his body. You left before he could tell you ‘thank you.’ Just like that, he and Kirishima went back to the village. The moment they arrived, they were surrounded by their friends and family, asking them where they’ve been the past few weeks. It was then that he realized he never once thanked you for saving him and keeping his secret.
Since then he’s had his eyes on you. Every time he spotted you in the crowd his eyes would follow wherever you went. Whenever he went flying with Kirishima, they’d always fly over the same flowerbed to see if you were there.
Kirishima quickly caught onto the feelings of the young prince. Whenever they saw you at the flowerbed, Kirishima would lie that he’s tired and needs a rest. He’d land at the flowerbed just so Bakugou could be with you. However, despite Kirishima’s efforts, Bakugou never seem to know what to say to you. He’d try to ask what you were up to, but the words that came out of his mouth were, “Hey coward, here sniffing flowers again?”
You’d always give him the same goofy, and slightly timid smile with your signature, “Ehehe” chuckle. Kirishima would nudge Bakugou and tell him to go talk to you, but Bakugou just sat there watching you pick herbs, refusing to utter another word to you because he knew nothing good will ever come out of his mouth.
He always sees you bringing home injured little animals: birds, squirrels, rabbits, fawns. Instead of eating them like what the other people in your tribe would do, you treated their wounds and released them back into the wild. You were just so weird, weirder than that outsider Midoriya. But for some reason Bakugou can’t get his mind off of you.
Finally, it was the awaited day before the fire festival. On this day, all the sixteen year olds of the tribe will be participating in the flower exchange event. Flower exchange is the special event held the day before the fire festival for the new adults to find partners. It is also the traditional day where the young adults declare their love for one another. Of course, it is common for some people who don’t have a love interest in mind to partner up as friends, and for some people to wait for their younger significant other to turn sixteen before choosing a partner. However, for most sixteen year olds, this is the most important day of their life.
Bakugou had already planned everything out in his head. He’s going to ask you to be his partner. He practiced day and night so that he won’t accidentally call you harsh names. He swore that this would be the one day where he won’t say anything mean to you. He’ll tell you how he feels, and ask you to be his partner, his lover, the one who would forever be with him for their many lifetimes to come.
He had your favorite flower in his hand, a ghost of a smile on his face. He had watched you pick flowers for months. He had noticed how your eyes would always soften, and your lips would always curve upward when you saw this particular flower. The white rose.
Everyone else were holding such vibrant colors in their hand, red being the most common. Red roses, red salvia, tulips, violets, peonies, buttercups, you name it. He had always wondered why you were so obsessed with this plain looking flower. Your taste in flower was just as unique as your fear of heights.
Flower exchange was held at the center of the village. Every year the entire village would come to watch the youngsters exchange flowers. It can easily be deemed the most important event of the year. A swarm of girls and boys ran up to Bakugou, asking to exchange flowers with him. “FUCK OFF EXTRAS!” Bakugou growled at them as he violently searched for your silhouette in the crowd. Weird… He knew for a fact you turned sixteen this year. Heck he even saw the shitty Deku, who was invited by Mitsuki to join the tradition. He held a sunflower in his hand, and stood at the corner looking almost uncomfortable to be there. His face was a dark shade of crimson, and his legs trembled.
“Pfft! Sunflower? Who brings a sunflower to flower exchange?” Bakugou could hear a few people laugh at the young green haired teenager, and he just scoffed in agreement.
Kirishima had exchanged flowers with his childhood friend, Ashido Mina. You were still nowhere to be found.
Soon, most of the new adults were already partnered up, clearing the area. “Prince, will you be my partner?” girls kept swarming around him, and he had to push past them to find the familiar (h/c) silhouette.
That was when he saw you.
He expected you to stand there awkwardly. He expected you to be without a partner.
He didn’t expect you to show up without a flower.
You stood there kicking the pebble by your feet, a hint of sadness in the depth of your eyes. “(Y/N)-chan where’s your flower?” Mitsuki asked.
“Ehehe~” you smiled at the wife of the chief and scratched the back of your head almost guiltily. “I forgot about that.”
“Bet she knows that no one’s going to partner with her, so she just didn’t bring one,” someone laughed.
The smile never left your face, but Bakugou had a strong urge to punch them in the face. What was he going to do now? Exchange of flower symbolizes exchange of love. Did you not bring any flower because you had no love to give? Or was it true that you just forgot?
Whatever. None of that matters. He was going to give his flower to you no matter what. “(Y-”
“(Y/N)-chan. If you don’t have a flower, I’ll give you mine!” Midoriya stepped in front of you and held out his sunflower to you, pink dusting over his freckled cheeks. Bakugou froze, wide eyed.
“Izuku what about you? Aren’t you going to exchange flowers with someone?” you asked your friend.
“Well, it’s not like someone is going to partner with an outsider like me for something as important as the fire festival. This is such an important tradition to your culture, you should take it,” Midoriya placed the sunflower in your hand. “In fact I was….actually going to give it to you in the first place….”
“Psh! Outsider and loser, how fitting.”
Mitsuki shot a glare at whoever uttered those words.
You just smiled at Midoriya, and asked, “Then you wanna be partners for the fire festival?”
The white rose fell from Bakugou’s hand. At that moment it was as if the sky came crashing down on him, weighing over his shoulders, pinning him to the ground. He was the prince, the next king of the dragon tribe, yet the only person he has ever loved, asked someone else to be her partner. The people around them dove to the ground fighting for the rose that fell. Almost in an instant, the poor flower was torn to shreds, just like his heart.
He ran.
He could only run. He had to get away before he puked on site. Why…? Why? Why?! WHY?!! Why the shitty Deku?!
The necklaces clattered, and the cape on his back fluttered with the wind. His teeth were clenched and his sharp nails dug into his palm. He was furious at you, furious at Deku, but most of all he was furious at himself. Why didn’t he go up to you before Deku? Why did he run away without even attempting to ask you. He always called you a coward, but he was the true coward.
Gender Swap | Todoroki Shouto x OC
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Idou Shun and Todoroki Shouto have been dating for a while, and on their way to school together, they were accidentally hit by a gender swap quirk that turned Todoroki into a girl and Idou into a boy.
Word Count: 2k
---Enjoy---
The whole class burst into laughter. "BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Ashido even snorted between laughs. Only Midoriya, the sweet boy, actually took the situation seriously.
"Oh my god, how did this happen?" he asked in horror when he faced the red and white haired "girl" and caramel colored haired "boy."
"These two idiots accidentally got their genders swapped on their way to school when a villain attacked and a civilian accidentally bumped into them out of panic," Aizawa explained to the class. What was hilarious was the "boy" was wearing the girl's uniform, which clamped down tight on him, while the usually form fitting uniform was now all baggy over the "girl."
"Man this is too good!" Kirishima couldn't stop laughing.
"Picture! OMG I need to take a picture!" Kaminari snapped a picture of the two classmates of his.
"Guys, it's not funny," the "boy" whined in a girly tone. It just sounded wrong considering his voice was deep and manly.
"OH MY GOD THIS IS TOO GOOD!" Sero started crying out of laughter. "I can't! Idou has leg hair!"
"NOT FUNNY!" the "boy" named Idou looked like he was about to cry. Then, the "girl" stepped in front of him. "Shou-chan...."
"Shun and I will change back in 24 hours, so just go about your day normally," she said.
"Todoroki-kun looks so cute! I wanna put his hair up!" Hagakure said, totally ignoring him.
Aizawa sighed. Class isn't going to get anywhere with these two in their current forms, so he said, "Todoroki, Idou, go switch your outfits."
"I'm not wearing a skirt," Todoroki said with a frown. The class, however, had stars in their eyes, desperate to see the strongest boy in class wear a skirt, even though he is in a girl's form right now.
"Shou-chan," a deep whiny voice caught Todoroki's attention. He, er....She looked over at Idou, who looked like she he was about to cry. "Please....." To be perfectly honest, Todoroki felt disgusted at the sight of a tall, muscular guy begging him in a cutesy pose like that. But considering that it's his girlfriend on the inside, he had no choice but to comply. And so, they switched outfits.
Todoroki's face was deep red when he came back to the classroom with a skirt on. Idou looked much more comfortable in pants and a form fitting shirt. The class made a few more jokes, and took some more pictures, but were then forced to sit back down and go through class. Giggles and snickers wouldn't stop, and even some teachers laughed at the situation. "I AM HER-" All Might didn't even finish his usual announcement before turning around to laugh. During break, the girls put Todoroki's hair up in pigtails, white on one side and red on the other. All Might did everything he could to resist the urge of taking a photo of him.
"Alright, class, get into your costumes and gather at training ground gamma!"
The whole class looked towards Todoroki and Idou. Iida was first to raise his hand. "All Might-sensei, what will we do about Todoroki-kun and Idou-san?" he asked.
"Hmm....why not let Idou go to the boy's locker room and Todoroki to the girls?" All Might suggested.
"NO!" all the girls shouted. Sure Todoroki has a female body now, but he's still a guy on the inside, so it wouldn't be right for him to see all the girls change. Same goes for Idou in the guys room. Remembering that, All Might patted himself on the head, and apologized for his 'carelessness.'
"Then, continue to go to the same locker room?" All Might asked again.
"YES!" Mineta shouted. He didn't care Todoroki was a guy on the inside, a girl's body is a girl's body. Not to mention Todoroki's boobs are huge!
"No!" Idou shouted. "Definitely not!" No way is she letting Mineta see her boyfriend's boobs.....
"Just go fucking change in bathroom stalls," Bakugou rolled his eyes and retorted. Sometimes people can't help but admit, Bakugou really is a genius.
-----
"Shou-chan," Todoroki shuddered when he heard that deep manly voice call his nickname. He looked at his girlfriend (more like boyfriend now), and finally took a good look at her up and down. His pants was too short on her. Todoroki suddenly started to feel a little insecure about this. Idou is taller than him, and more muscular, and has a deeper voice than him as a man. He didn't know how he felt about that. "Wanna eat lunch together?"
"Yeah," he answered in his soft, silky, high pitched voice. God he sounds pre-puberty. Out of habit, they locked fingers, and both found something odd. They looked down.
"It feels weird having bigger hands," Idou said. "And being taller than you." She gazed around the hall. "Wow, it really does look different from up here." Todoroki sighed. He has to admit, it looks different down here too. They continued to walk towards the cafeteria, until Idou suddenly froze.
"What's wrong?" Todoroki asked.
"I have to pee...." she said.
"So?" Todoroki first looked confused, then he realized the issue, and his eyes gazed down at Idou's crotch. "Oh...."
"How....?" Idou squeaked, desperate for help. Sweat poured down her face at the thought of it, and made her want to pee even more. What was originally just a small urge is now turning to an emergency as she thought about it.
"C-Calm down!" Todoroki stuttered. He needs to remain calm. "Come with me." He grabbed her by the wrist, and pulled her down the hall.
When they arrived in front of the restrooms, Idou said, "I'm not going into the guy's bathroom."
"Suck it up Shun, you have to,"  Todoroki said, pushing the door open and dragging her in. Idou took a sharp breath when she saw the guys at the urinals, with their.....things out...... The guys all turned and stared at them, jaws dropped.
"See, they're staring at me," Idou said. "I shouldn't be in there."
"No, they're staring at me," Todoroki informed. Oh right, Idou realized. She is a boy now. And the pigtails Todoroki is the one that doesn't fit in here. "Come with me." He dragged her into a stall, and closed the door behind her. All the guys finished their businesses, zipped up their pants, and hurried out of the bathroom. They are not staying for what was happening next. Todoroki stood outside the stall, and shouted, "Unzip your pants, take it out, aim, and go."
"I can't!"
"What do you mean you can't?"
"I don't wanna touch it!"
Todoroki rolled his eyes, and walked into the stall. "I'll help you," he said.
"What?!"
"You don't wanna touch it right?"
"Yeah but-"
"Just unzip it!" Todoroki unzipped the pants for Idou. Outside the stall, a few boys walked into the bathroom, and when they heard the girl say 'unzip it,' they all decided to walk out and go to another bathroom. Oh god, high schoolers these days, so bold.
"Kya!" Idou squealed in her manly voice, sending goosebumps down Todoroki's spine again. He grabbed her....thing....., and pointed it at the toilet. "That feels weird!" Idou's face was as red as the left side of Todoroki's hair, and so was Todoroki's face. He seemed to just have realized that although this was a man's body he was touching, it was still his girlfriend's body. And technically, he's touching her....... Oh no don't even think about it.
"Just go!" Todoroki closed his eyes and turned away as Idou went. After all that happened, they walked out of the stall, face redder than the sunset.  They didn't half to talk about it to agree to never to mention this again.
-----
A long day of school finally ended. Todoroki and Idou both let out a sigh of relief. It's over. Finally. Now they can go home and wait for it t-
"Shou-chan you're bleeding!" Idou exclaimed.
"What?" Todoroki looked at his arms, nothing. "Where?" Suddenly he felt something hot, sticky, and wet, slowly glide down his inner thighs. It was as if the blood in his face decided to flow downwards. His ash like complexion was silently conveying his fear. "Is that...."
"You're on your period...." Idou nodded. But how? And why? Idou suddenly remembered the panicky civilian who told them they'd experience everything the opposite gender goes through. She smacked herself in the face, letting out a groan. "This day is just getting worse."
By now, Todoroki was completely freaking out. "W-What do I do?" he asked. This time, Idou had to be the calm one.
"I-It's okay!" she said. "I have pads in my backpack!" She dragged Todoroki into the girl's bathroom, straight into a stall. "Take off your skirt." There was already a stain on the back of the skirt. Todoroki ignored the fact that he was blushing like a madman and closed his eyes, taking his skirt off, and underwear, and sat down on the seat.
"You're wearing boxers?! Who wears boxers under a skirt?" Idou exclaimed. "How am I supposed to put the pad on that?"
"I-I don't know, just do something!" Todoroki begged. Oh God, she's actually really cute when she's flustered like that, Idou thought. Then she slapped herself in the face. Shun wake up, that's your boyfriend, don't call him a she. She took a deep breath, and unwrapped the pad. She carefully placed it onto Todoroki's boxers. She folded the inside of the boxer so that the wings of the pad still wraps around it. It'll just feel weird later.
"Okay, um. The pad is on. Just w-wipe......" Idou decided to turn around and not look at her boyfriend attempting to wipe the excess blood from his.....v- Yeah let's just leave it at that.
When Todoroki and Idou got out of the stall, they were surrounded by basically all the girls from class 1-A. "What are you guys doing here?" Idou asked. Todoroki hid his face in his hands, too embarrassed to face his classmates. He must be the first man in history to experience a period. I'm gonna be so much better to Shun when she's on her period from now on, he thought.
"Oh, I was gonna say I have tampons," Ashido held a tampon up in the air.
"Pain medicine," Jirou offered.
"I have chocolate!" Uraraka said.
"Todoroki-san, are you feeling alright now? Do you need to go to the nurse?" Yaoyozoru asked.
"Yeah, if you feel any cramps just tell us okay?" Hagakure said.
"Thanks everyone, let's go back home," Idou thanked them for Todoroki. Outside the bathroom, the boys all gathered around, cracking up at Todoroki.
"Oh my God he seriously got his period!" laughed Kaminari.
"What does I feel like?" for some reason Ojiro looked seriously curious when he asked the question.
"Horrible..." Todoroki replied. His face was still red.
"No kidding, the skirt is all stained," Kirishima pointed to Todoroki's skirt.
"Heh." Idou turned to Bakugou, who just snickered at Todoroki.
"What are you laughing about Bakugou?!" she glared at him. The blonde simply smirked at shrugged. He left before Idou could say anything else to him. She then noticed the nervous look on Todoroki's face. With her large, manly manly hands, she grabbed his soft smooth ones. Damn they're so much softer than mine, she thought.
"Shou-chan, it'll be over by tomorrow," she said, trying to comfort him. He gave her a soft smile and a nod. Idou took off her, er.... Todoroki's jacket, and wrapped it around his waist, covering the stain. The rest of the class made a path for them to pass through, and the two of them walked out of school and headed home.
The next morning Idou still woke up as a boy. The previous day she explained to her mother the long story. Of course it caused quite some laughter in the household. In the morning however, it started causing concerns. According to the 24 hour rule, Idou won't be able to transform back until later on her way to school. She wore Todoroki's school uniform, and met up with him at the intersection between his neighborhood and hers. He wore her school uniform, and had his hair down. He looked just as uncomfortable as she did.
"Shou-chan!" Idou greeted him.
"Good morning Shun," Todoroki greeted her back. He held a hand out to her as usual, but the two of them were both a little reluctant to hold hands. The way his hand fit inside her's...just didn't feel right.
Both of them were nervous as they walked down the streets. Any moment now, they thought. Of course during the incident yesterday, the two weren't able to confirm exactly what time they became like this, so now they had to wait for it to happen.
"Excuse me," a girl said as she pushed through the crowd. As she squeezed by Idou, Idou lost balance, and started falling into the streets.
"Hey! Shun!" Todoroki called for her. He quickly grabbed her by the wrist, but the moment his hand touched her skin, POOF!
People around them started coughing due to the sudden smoke bomb. What exactly happened? When the smoke cleared, everyone's eyes widened to see a young copper orange haired girl in an over sized boys uniform and a tall strange haired boy dressed in a skirt.......
"Leg hair," someone in the crowd muttered.
Both Todoroki and Idou's faces were beet red. "This is the worst!"
Fast and Slow | Hawks x Reader
Tumblr media
Fluff!
Word Count: 1.3k
All the pictures of you and Hawks shared were just blurry after images. The two of you were known as the fastest duo in Japan. Whenever someone mentioned Hawks, they would always talk about you, his only sidekick, as well. Hawks doesn't like sidekicks – rather, he had no use for them. Throughout his hero career he hired and fired multiple sidekicks because none of them could keep up with his speed.
Then you appeared. It was a hot summer day, and all Hawks wanted to do was to hurry up and catch the villain and finish the day off with some ice cream. The villain was fast, he had to admit, but Hawks knew he was faster. He smirked as he glanced back at the heroes who couldn’t keep up. That was when suddenly, something flashed before his eyes.
His eyes widened when he saw the villain spazzing on the ground while you stepped on him with one foot, keeping him against the pavement. He saw sparks of blue electricity flash around you, and he swore for a second your face deformed into a streak of lightning.
"Did you….do that?" he asked. You nodded at him. He couldn’t help but notice how breathtakingly beautiful your eyes were. Your big, round, innocent eyes reminded him of a toddler, and with your blank emotionless expression, he found you adorable. He knew then and there that he had to have you as his sidekick.
You were still a high school third year, interning for another hero during that time, but he quickly offered you a position as his sidekick once you graduate. There was no way you’d turn down the number three hero. Even though you didn’t show it on your face, you were ecstatic.
After graduation, you immediately became his sidekick. Hawks had to admit, you didn’t disappoint as a sidekick. You were lightning itself, whether it was chasing villains or reacting to attacks, you never missed a split second.
However, outside of hero work, you were excruciatingly slow.
"Hey Dove, nice work," he told you when the two of you finished capturing a burglar.
"Thank you, Mr. Hawks." You bowed politely. You weren’t a very expressive person, he learned, and you’re almost always wearing that blank, dazed, almost clueless expression on your face.
"Mr. Hawks?! That makes me sound old, I’m only 22! Just call me Hawks. Puts less of a distance between us," he said as he walked up to you with a grin on his face, physically decreasing the distance between the two of you.
Your brows furrowed lightly as you gave his words some thought. Putting age aside, he technically is your boss. It would be rude to address him without honorifics, but since he insisted, "Okay Hawks."
The corners of his lips tugged upward when his name rolled off your tongue. Your voice was just as enchanting as your eyes. He tilted your chin upward with his index finger, and leaned his face close to yours, eyes half lidded seductively as he tried to lower his tone, and whispered, "Now Dove, why don’t we go back, relax on the couch, watch a movie and eat some chicken to reward ourselves for our…fine work today." Boy does he think he sounded sexy.
"But it’s barely 3 pm," you stated matter-of-factly. "We don’t get off duty until 7."
As your boss, he didn’t hate that part of you, but as a man trying to court you, he really wished you took a hint. From the compliments and the flirty pet names to the lunch and dinner dates, none of them seemed to be getting to you. He honestly started to question what exactly was going through that cute little brain of yours, or if anything went through at all.
In the end, he decided that he should give up on the hints and just ask you out in a straightforward approach. "Goodbye Hawks, have a nice day." It was past 7, and you were going to leave to go home. That was when Hawks pinned you to the wall, preventing you from getting out of the agency. "Hawks?"
"Songbird, will you go out with me?" he asked. He would change up the pet names every day, today was Songbird.
"Go out? Where? To KFC or to Chickenman?" You listed his two places he took you the most often to get chicken.
Hawks slammed his head into the wall beside your face while letting out a loud groan of defeat. As his body pressed against yours, a wave of heat started rushing to your cheeks. To say you didn’t find the bird man attractive would be a total lie, but you naturally had the tendency to take everything literally, and the idea that this handsome, successful young man would be in any way interested in you was absolutely appalling, to the point you never even considered it.
Hawks chuckled softly as he tilted his head and directed his lips to your ears. You could feel his hot breath tickling the inside of your ears and you winced a little at the strange sensation. "Songbird, sometimes I don’t know if you’re doing this on purpose or if you really are that slow," he whispered.
"Um, sir, I whatever I did wrong, I swear it wasn’t on purpose," you apologized as the blush on your face deepened. Hawks’ eyes widened. You were weak against physical contact. Before, he’d get a little bit touchy here and there, but he always made sure he gave you enough personal space. Now, he was practically pressed against you, sandwiching you between his chest and the wall.
Finally getting an expression that’s not a blank stare out of your face, Hawks’ lips curled upward victoriously. He took your hand in his, and interlocked your fingers with his. His golden orbs were locked onto your face, taking in your every movement, from the redness of your cheeks, to the way your eyes darted around, and the way you bit your bottom lip. Oh god, he was having too much fun with this.
"Songbird, you can’t be that clueless. Surely you understand what I mean now," he whispered softly in your ear.
"I-….I uh…" Yes, you finally understood. All the subtle hints and the flirty comments now seemed to click. You felt like someone had put your heart on a train; you could practically hear it slamming against the walls of your chest.
Hawks tilted your chin up. This time he made sure to stick his face so close to you that you could feel him breathing over your lips. "So what do you say? Still thinking about KFC?"
"N-….No…." Your voice cracked as you cowered under him.
"No as in you won’t go out with me or no as in you stopped thinking about chicken?" he chuckled.
"I….I uh… I stopped thinking about chicken."
"So you’ll go out with me?"
"That’s not-" That’s not what you meant, but at this point you honestly don’t want to say no. "I mean….. Yes… I will…"
Hawks finally closed the gap between the two of you. He cupped your cheek with one hand while the other stayed intertwined with yours. You closed your eyes as he gently massaged your lips with his.
KACHAK!
The two of you turn your heads to see a man scurry out of the bushes outside the window. Paparazzi. They had been waiting for something like this. In an instant the two of you were out the door. A blue streak passed by the paparazzi, and next thing he knew you were in front of him. He turned around to see Hawks hovering right before him. You took the camera out of his hand and confiscated the SD card. "Nice work Songbird," Hawks winked.
"Thank you Hawks," this time, you wore a subtle smile, and your cheeks dusted in pink.
Later you and Hawks loaded the pictures from the SD card onto his computer, and for the first time, there was a photo of the two of you that wasn't blurry.
Lower Jaw Bone | Dabi x Reader Oneshot
A/N: KYAAAA I couldn't contain myself after reading chapter 291, and I got inspired to make this oneshot. It's a little angsty, a little fluffy, and most of all it's just heart wrenching.
Warning: Spoiler!! Chapter 291!!!
Word count: 5k
----------Enjoy--------
He still remembers the first day he met you. Even up till this day, he will never forget the way you shivered in your own ice on a cold, dry, winter night, trying to keep his body cool.
He had no idea why you were there that day, because it was supposed to be a secluded mountain where only Endeavor went to train. He had planned to end his life then and there, using his own fire which was passed down to him by his bastard of a father, the one who tortured and tormented him. However, you saved him.
You had an ice quirk, just like his mother. You covered yourself in ice, releasing your quirk continuously in order to get through the fire exceeding 2000 degrees just to get him out of there. Your arms and legs were severely burnt, much like his, and you had carried him out of that mountain all by yourself.
His body temperature was still very high, and both of your clothes were burnt off by the fire. You had to build an igloo out of your ice to protect yourself from the cold, and at the same time you kept hugging him while activating your own quirk to cool his body temperature down. When he woke up, he felt excruciating pain all over. At first he thought he was dead, because when he saw you, he thought you were an angel. Even though it hurt all over, the area you touched felt unbelievably good.
He noticed you were shivering all over, teeth chattering. The two of you were naked, and both of you had burn wounds all over, his more severe than yours. His entire jaw was burnt off, and he couldn't talk. He just weakly stared at you while you quivered, and he didn't know how many days passed, just like that. By the time you were awake, you told him he was going to be okay. He couldn't move his body at all, nor speak, and you were also severely injured. He watched you drag your body into the depth of the forest, and he thought you would just leave him there to die, because for hours you never returned.
But you came back. You came back with bandages, clothes, medicine, and blankets. He wondered why you didn't bring an adult, and why you were still naked when you came back to him. He laid there motionless while you applied whatever medicine you were able to find on him. Poor him. You had no idea if the medicine was meant for burn wounds, but it was all you had. You rubbed the strange cream all over his body, and wrapped him up in the little white bandages you owned. "I'm sorry, I don't have much, so I can only cover up the worst parts for now. I'll try to get more later," you apologized to him as you covered his face, neck, and torso with bandages.
He noticed how you didn't apply any medicine to yourself. All of the cream in that little jar that you had went on his body, and even that wasn't able to help cover all of his injuries. You made sure to reconstruct the igloo every day, and you made sure he was covered in blankets and bandages.
The next few days were excruciating. His skin peeled off and the blood dried onto the bandages. He would lay in the igloo alone every day as you limped out to scavenge for food. Every day you'd come back with bandages and medicine, and a little bit of food. You were finally able to find clothes for yourself at some point, but it hurts to wear them because of your peeling skin. You always apologized to him about not being able to provide better, but he didn't understand why you should be sorry. You barely had enough for yourself, and whatever you had you always prioritized him. You don't even know him. Why would you go so far just to save a stranger like him? He didn't understand.
At first he blamed you. He wanted to scream at you for saving him, and he wanted to tell you to let him die, but he couldn't talk. However, as days passed, and he watched you limp out of the igloo every day and back, and how you'd always apply whatever medicine you could get your hands on to him first, how you always ate the left overs of what you gave to him first.... He could no longer tell you that he wanted to die. Tears slowly seeped out of his eyes, his last tears, and each time you wiped them away, telling him sorry, and that you knew it was painful, and asked him to bear with it. Little did you know it wasn't the pain that made him cry.
Because he lost his jaw, he couldn't chew. As disgusting as it was, you had to chew for him and then feed it into his mouth. That was how you kept him alive. You were quite the talkative person. Whenever you weren't out looking for food and medicine, you were telling him about yourself.
You didn't have friends, and your parents are villains. Your father was convicted for mass murder, while your mother was a drug addict. You escaped home at the age of seven; you never went to school. You were originally living in an abandoned cottage in the depth of these mountains. Alone, yet safe. You used to walk miles every day just to get to a small farm at the edge of these mountains. There lived this old couple, who were farmers, and they taught you how to plant vegetables, and sometimes offered you bread and milk. You told him you saw him in the fire, and your body just moved on its own.
Two months. The two of you lived in the igloo for two months, until spring came, and that he was finally able to walk. His legs were in worse shape than yours, and you had recovered pretty well. Although you still had difficulties walking, you were able to support him back to your abandoned cottage. "It's probably really dusty since I've been gone for so long. Sit here! I'll clean up real quick!" You told him as you set him down on this old, worn out chair at the doorway.
He grabbed you by the wrist before you went inside. He couldn't speak, so he just stared at you with his teal blue eyes, trying to convey the words 'thank you.'
You simply smiled back at him and told him to wait. You were very slow, and he could hear loud thuds coming from inside every once in a while, and he knew it was you falling. Even though he never asked you to save him, and he still wasn't sure if he wanted to stay in this world, he swore to himself that day that he would spend his entire life protecting you.
At some point, when the two of you were able to walk normally again, you began to bring him with you out to look for food. You had a little garden that you would tend to, but there were no crops that grew during the spring time. "Harvest season is summer and fall," you told him.
You were a year younger than him, barely eleven. Yet you already knew how to survive in this hellhole of a world. You taught him how to look for expired packaged bread thrown out of the supermarkets and bakeries. The two of you always hung out at the dark alley where the big supermarkets throw out the goods that they couldn't sell anymore. You knew this one worker who would always secretly sneak out some fresh milk for him, since he couldn't chew.
He tried to tell you his name, but you could only read hiragana, since you never went to school. "To-u-ya," you read the characters he wrote into the ground with a stick. He then pointed to himself. "Touya! Your name is Touya!" You threw your arms around him. His eyes curved into downward crescents as he tried to smile. You already told him your name. Your name is (Y/N). The two of you held hands, and he swore he'd never let go.
Child labor was illegal, but you two were able to get a job in an underground club. It was a place where bad people did illegal business, so they were very secretive. You were a sweet talker, and the owner there must have took pity on the two of you, so he let the two of you work as janitors. He paid very little, but it was enough for the two of you to get by. You were very stingy with your money. While Touya would always spend his share on some fresh food for the two of you, you were always saving up in this big jar. He told you multiple times through writing that you two had enough money to buy food, and that you didn't have to live off of those expired goods anymore, but you wouldn't listen. You still went to that dark alley every day to get those expired bread and canned food.
It wasn't until he turned fifteen that he realized why you were always saving up. One day, when that sorry excuse of a piggy bank of yours was finally full. You happily picked it up and hugged it to your chest. You grabbed him by the wrist and told him today was his big day. He had no idea what you were talking about, but you held his hand with one hand, and the money jar with the other. He then found himself standing in front of a run down, sketchy looking building that had a red cross on it. This was a hospital? He thought.
You pulled him inside and there was a man with frizzy curly ashy brown hair and a pair of round, cracked glasses. He wore a white lab coat with a name plate on it that said Dr. Taniguchi. "Doc, about the jaw implant surgery I asked you about, I have the money for it now!" You placed the big jar of money on the counter. Touya's eyes widened. Jaw implant?! Was that what you were saving up for? All those years you diced and mashed up the food for him since he couldn't chew. He was already used to it. It sucked that he couldn't talk to you, but he had honestly accepted it. He had no idea you were secretly, this whole time, saving your own hard earned money just so he could be able to live a normal life. Him! A stranger! Someone who had no affiliation to you whatsoever.
Touya grabbed that money jar from the counter and pulled you away. He shook his head violently, trying to tell you no. He didn't need a jaw. You should use this money for yourself. He was okay like this. Really! You snatched the money from him. "We agreed that we wouldn't interfere with what we choose to spend our money on Touya. I'm spending my money on getting you a new jaw!" You placed the jar back down. "This is the only place that doesn't require identification Touya. And it's cheap. I know it's sketchy, but Doc promised me he'd get you a new jaw. I saw him do surgery on other people before, he's trust worthy! Please.... Promise me you'd go through with it. With a lower jaw, you can talk again, and eat! You'd be able to return to a normal human being!"
He kept shaking his head at you. Since his tear ducts were burnt, only blood seeped out of his under eyes, streaming down his scarred face. You can't do this! You need that money too! That leg of yours hasn't been doing well the past few years, most likely because you were treating his wounds instead of yours back then. You need medicine and money too! He held your hands and placed them to his forehead. He begged you not to do this. Please (Y/N)! Please! "Ahhh! AHHHH!" his voice only came out like this. No words, just sounds.
"See? You need it to talk Touya."
The doctor brought him into this small bright room that smelled of rubbing alcohol. You waved at him behind the doors as it closed, and he was pressed to the bed. After one shot of anesthesia, he was out cold. When he woke up again, he had bandages wrapped all over his lower jaw. Yes, jaw. He had a jaw bone implant. He could feel it. "You need to keep the bandage on for at least three weeks," the doctor told them. The surgery was a success.
You cried for hours with joy and relief, and kept telling him she was finally able to hear him speak now! Touya cried too. He didn't know how to thank you. You were an angel. You were his angel. How was he ever going to repay you?!
Three weeks later and the bandages came off. "Try moving your jaw!" you exclaimed excitedly.
"Ah! Ah!" he moved it up and down. "Ai' ish?" It's been so long since he talked, he still needed to adjust to the new sensation, but for the first time, he was able to say something that wasn't a series of 'ahh's. You were bawling.
"WAAAHHHHHHH! TOUYAAAAAAAA!!!!!!"
You helped him regain his ability to speak. With a few months of practice he was talking normally again. It was weird for him, because he had hit voice change by the time the jaw implant was done, so when he spoke he felt like the voice wasn't his. His favorite thing to say after he regained the ability to speak was your name. "(Y/N)! (Y/N)! (Y/N)!" he'd yell every day.
"I'm here! What?!" you'd ask him.
"Nothing. Just, wanted to say your name." He smiled at you. Every time he smiled, you smiled. One of the reasons you wanted him to do that surgery was for him to smile. Even though his lower jaw was covered in burn scars, his smile was the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. "(Y/N)!" He picked you up by the waist, and twirled you around in the air. You squealed as you held on tightly to his neck. "(Y/N)! (Y/N)! (Y/N)!" He would never get tired of saying it.
You thought the two of you would be able to be like this forever. Your ice, his fire, small cottage, just the two of you, secluded from this suffocating world and it's shit society. However, one day, as the two of you were walking down the streets to buy some groceries, he saw a billboard, and he stopped. He stared at the billboard for a long time, and wouldn't budge. "Touya?" You called his name. You gasped when you saw the look in his eyes. Those wide, teal blue eyes, staring at a strange, red haired man with beards of fire. His stare was so cold, colder than any winter, any frostbite you've ever felt. You could sense the pure hatred radiating off of him. He looked like he could kill just by glaring, and it scared you. "Touya?"
Your voice snapped him out of his trance. "Yeah?"
"W-What's wrong?" you asked.
"Nothing...." He looked down. For the first time in forever, you saw sadness in his eyes. He stood there for a long time before telling you, "There's a place I must go to."
He brought you to a flower shop, and there he purchased a small bouquet of two blue Amaryllis flowers. You didn't know why he chose such a weird flower, since Amaryllis usually come in red and white. He then took you to a hospital, and he asked you for a favor. "Can you hand this to the counter? Tell them it's for Todoroki Rei, and tell them not to tell her who sent it."
You didn't ask who Todoroki Rei was, because you could already see it in his eyes. He probably didn't want to scare people with the scars all over his face. You had scars too, but they were on your legs and arms. You went inside as you were told, and handed the flowers to the counter. You repeated his instructions to the nurses. They asked you who you were, and you just told them they didn't need to know.
After you were done with that, he took your hand in his, and you two left. He never visited that hospital again. Ever since then, he changed. You would always find him glaring off into the space, but you didn't know what. His eyes would sometimes turn really cold, and it scared you. Every time you asked, he would tell you it's nothing to worry about.
You found out he started leaving home in the middle of night. You didn't know where he went, and you didn't know if you should ask. One day he came back with a bottle of hair dye, and asked you to dye his hair. You didn't know why he wanted you to dye his hair. You liked it. It was a snowy white. But he told you to just do it.
You didn't like how things were going. You had a bad feeling in your stomach, and you were too afraid to ask him. However, those secret outings at night had you suspicious.
When you were sixteen, still working at that underground club, there was a man who came up to you. He grabbed you by the butt, and started saying really inappropriate things to you. "Hey little cutie. Why don't you come with me and we can go have some fun?"
Almost instantly he was thrown against the wall. It was Touya. Touya held the man by the throat with one hand, and in his other hand were the blue flames that nearly burned him to death five years ago. "I'll kill you!" Touya hissed at the man.
"Touya no!" You cried as you threw your arms around the one he held with fire. He immediately put out the fire when you touched him, afraid to burn you again. "Don't!" The two of you were fired on the spot. However, as you guys walked out of the club, a tall man in black called out to you guys.
"Hey, you two. You two seem pretty capable. Wanna work for me?" he asked. Touya stopped and turned towards the man, but you held him by the arm. You knew all those people in there were criminals, and you wanted nothing to do with them. Working as a janitor is one thing, but working for criminals like him is another.
"Touya no...." you pleaded softly.
He looked at you with soft eyes, and smiled reassuringly. Then he turned to the man and said, "We'll think about it."
"Great. This is my business card. Come find me when you make up your mind."
Once the man was gone, you shouted at Touya. "Touya you can't! He's a criminal! We can't work for criminals!"
"You can't... But I can."
"What!? You can't!"
"We need the money (Y/N). Your leg has been getting worse by the day. I know you think you can just get by by taking pain killers, but you need treatment. Proper treatment. Not that shabby sketchy hospital, but a proper, big, hospital with clean facilities and good doctors!" He shouted. He was talking about the leg that got burnt that year when you saved him.
"It doesn't hurt Touya. It really doesn't. I don't want to work for bad guys. Please promise me you won't do it..." you pleaded.
He cupped you by the face, and pressed his forehead against yours. His beautiful teal orbs gazed into your (e/c) ones. You felt a hard thumping sound inside your chest. What is this feeling? A strange wave of heat rushed to your cheeks as you attempted to pull away, but he held you there. "I'm sorry (Y/N). I need to do this. For you....and for me." He couldn't tell you about the certain man he had been plotting to kill. He knew you'd try to talk him out of it. You were just too kind.
"You don't have to do this for me Touya, really. My leg is fine," you told him.
"It's not fine and we both know it. I can't see you in pain (Y/N). I really can't. I love you..." he whispered.
"What?"
"I said I love you. I want to be with you. Forever, always. I want to give you a normal life, just like how you've given me." He tilted his face and closed his eyes. You felt his chapped lips press softly against yours, and you stood still wide eyed. What is he doing? What were you two doing?! You just froze in place, not sure what to do. You've seen people do this lip touching thing in the club, and you thought it was gross. You never once thought that one day someone would do this to you. It felt...good... "(Y/N), do you love me?" he asked after he took his lips off of yours.
"I-....I don't know..." You were someone who grew up without love, so you didn't know what it was. You hear people say it all the time, and it sounds like the same thing as 'like,' but not quite the same.
"Do you want to be with me forever?" he changed the phrasing.
"Yes! I wanna be with you forever Touya. Just like the way we are now!"
"That's love (Y/N), but (Y/N), I don't want to stay the way we are now," he smiled. "I want better. I want better food, better house, I want you to walk without feeling pain. I want a world where we can live out in the open, where we don't have to hide. This world that has hurt us, don't you wanna change it?!"
"I-...." You had no idea what he was talking about. But one thing you did know. "I don't want to hurt people."
"You won't."
"You can't hurt people either," you said. "Promise?"
"I promise," Touya nodded as he intertwined his pinky with yours. You smiled softly at him, and he connected your lips once again.
He had to teach you from scratch what people do to show their love for one another. He didn't blame you for being so clueless, since you did practically grow up secluded from society. Slowly, he taught you how to use tongue, and he taught you how to make love.
Years passed.
You worked multiple part time minimum wage jobs to get by, and he would be out doing 'business' with that new boss of his. He would come home every other day with cash and food. You learned not to question what he does or how he got the stuff, simply because you were in no position to deny them. Deep down you knew your leg needed treatment, and maybe it was the excruciating pain, or maybe it was just your desire for that world he was always talking about, you turned a blind eye to the things he did.
You were in your early twenties when your leg completely gave out. He found you collapsed on the ground, unconscious. There were no words that could describe how he felt when he saw you laying there, almost motionless. He screamed your name until you woke up. You told him with a weak smile that you were okay, but you knew you'll never be okay. You couldn't walk anymore, so you could no longer work. No work, no income. You couldn't even tend to that small vegetable garden...
He told you not to worry, and that he would take care of it. He had saved up enough money by now. And he found a doctor he trusted, a doctor who promised to turn your legs back to normal.
Later you were admitted into a big hospital. You didn't know how he was able to get you admitted, since you didn't have an identification. However, you didn't ask. The doctor who tended to you was named Ujiko. He told you that you would be able to walk again once you finish surgery and rehabilitation.
Touya was busy with his work. He'd come to visit you in the hospital every once in a while, when he had the chance, but gradually you saw him less and less, and you missed him. You missed him a lot.
Surgery was a success, just as Ujiko promised. You were in the hospital for three months after surgery, rehabilitating and strengthening your newly repaired muscles.
When heroes started evacuating the hospital that day, you immediately knew something was wrong. And you knew it had to do with Touya. Despite never asking him, deep down you knew he was affiliated with bad people, and he did bad things. As long as he promised not to hurt innocent people you were okay with the things he potentially had to do to get by, but little did you know, that he had long broken the promise not to hurt others.
The man who groped you in the club, he killed him.
Your drug addict mother who beat you as a child, he found her and burned her alive.
Your murderer father was long dead, so there was nothing Dabi could do to him. He had made it a personal mission to kill every single person in this world that had wronged the two of you.
He was confident he hid everything from you. The things he did, the league he joined, everything. Yet why were you here? You were supposed to be in the hospital, safe. So why were you here in the midst of all the chaos?
"See ya, Hawks." He was just about to kill the hero, the one who just killed Twice. Just as he was about to increase the temperature of his fire and incinerate him for good, a large glacier of ice formed in between him and the winged man. His eyes widened, for he thought it was Shouto. That split second gave this teenage bird man just enough time to snatch Hawks and get out of here. Touya turned around and was about to throw fire at whoever messed up his plans. But his eyes widened when he saw you. You were still in that blue and white striped hospital gown, barefoot. He could see blood under your feet, probably from running over the sharp rocks and debris to get here. "Why? How did you know?"
"Touya.... Please.... Stop this," you pleaded. "No more killing."
At that point you had finally snapped out of your denial, and you faced the fact that you had guessed but never wanted to confirm. Touya was a murderer, a criminal, a villain...
Behind you, a man waved his knife. He probably thought you were a hero, and was going to kill you.
"DON'T TOUCH HER!" Touya blasted his fire at his comrade, and grabbed you by the arm, pulling you into his embrace so he could protect you from heroes and villains alike. "(Y/N), what are you doing here?!"
"Please Touya, let's just go. My legs are fine now! Let's leave this place! If it's you and me, we can definitely survive out there in the wild!" you pleaded. You grabbed his shirt in both hands, clinging onto him for your dear life. "Please! Please! I beg you!"
"It's too late now (Y/N). I can't turn back now." It was too late for him to let go of his hatred, to stop when he's so close to his goal. He had to do it. For him. For you.
You shook your head. It's not too late. You knew it wasn't too late. With your power and his, you two can get out of here easily. Escape to somewhere where no one can find you. "Touya...."
His eyes softened when he looked into your beautiful watery orbs. He gently locked his lips with yours, and placed his hands over your ears, as if trying to block out all the screaming and crying from your world. You deserve better. He'll give you better.
You felt him push something into your mouth with his tongue. Once he made sure you swallowed it, he pulled away from you face. "Sleep my love. By the time you wake up, you will be in a changed world." He smiled gently at you, the smile you gavr him, the smile he only showed you. Your head became hazy as your vision blacked. You fell limp into his arms, and you could no longer move a muscle. You weren't fully unconscious, you could still make out sounds, though they sounded muffled and staggered.
While you were out, you could hear him talk. You heard him talk about his identity, his past, the abuse, and his sins. Everything he hid from you all these years, you heard it through that half conscious state. Tears streamed down your closed lids as he uncovered the dark secrets of the hero society. You were the one who gave him this chance. You were the one who helped him regain speech. You were the one who helped him tear down this society. You were the one who replaced the lower jaw bone he had burned off.
Touya... Stop... This isn't what I want. I just want to be with you. That's it. Please Touya... Stop this madness.
Too late. He had already destroyed society. He was ready to burn the whole world down, and rebuild it for you. He will tear down this hellhole and build a heaven, a place where an angel like you belong.
Failed Attempts | Iwaizumi x Reader Oneshot
Tumblr media
Word Count: 3162
----------------------------------------------
He carried a vibe around him. And it's intimidating. He's really quiet and focused in class, but he's not the best student. He's quite popular with the boys, but for some reason girls just never really notice him, especially not when he's always around that guy. Iwaizumi Hajime is someone I'd classify as an undiscovered gem. Girls don't seem to see his charm, and they never seem to notice the bright light he's capable of giving off.
As always I sit at the back of class, glancing constantly at the raven haired boy as he scribbled things down into his notebook during math. I've noticed him since the first day I met him, back in our first year of high school. I sat right behind him, but I never talked to him.
He's always busy, I noticed. He's either reading something, talking to someone, or going somewhere. I see him so often, even outside of class. I'd see him on my way to club, he'd be heading to his own club. I'd see him on my way home; he only lives a few blocks away from me. Even though I see him so often, I never actually sat down and talked with him...
Oikawa-san is pretty friendly, he'd greet me whenever we walk by each other in the hall. And whenever I am greeted by Oikawa-san, Iwaizumi would also nod at me. Even though that's a typical 'oh I noticed you' response, every time it happens I somehow get super happy. I don't know what makes him so interesting to me. To be honest I just enjoy watching him completely destroy other boys in arm wrestling, or produce a god-like record in running 1 km, or even be asked to join all the sports team. Around my second year of high school I realized I want to talk to him. It was the first day of our second semester and god granted me this golden chance. First day of the semester we get new seats, and I happened to sit right next to him, to his left. "Good morning Iwaizumi-kun," I greeted, and thank god my voice didn't crack.
"Oh, hi," Iwaizumi replied. Say something, start a conversation, I told myself.
"Long time no see," I made out.
"Mmhm, long time no see," he replied. Good job, great way to start a conversation, I slapped myself in my head. It didn't take me long to realize that Iwaizumi, despite being the vice captain of the volleyball team and always surrounded by boys, is actually quite the introvert. He enjoys his silence, and he likes lone time, which I heard from Oikawa. I'm not really familiar with either of them, but if I had to say who I'm closer to, it'd definitely be Oikawa. He walked with me from class to my club a few times, just to tell me how sad he is that the coach doesn't let him play due to his injuries.
Of course, my attempts to talk to Iwaizumi didn't stop there. After class, I wanted to invite him to eat lunch with me. But the moment I opened my mouth, "Iwa-chan, let's go eat lunch together!" Oikawa called out from the other side of the room. And then all the other volleyball team members would miraculously show up. I nodded my head, Okay, guess that's that. In the end, I ate lunch with my other friends.
From time to time I'd see him in the halls or on the street, but he always seem like he's in a hurry to go somewhere, so I couldn't really bring myself to interrupt his journey. There was once I saw him down the hall on my way to the cafeteria, and since it was lunch time and he was alone I figured I'd invite him to lunch. "Hey, Iwaizumi-kun!" I greeted. "Where are you headed?"
"Oh I'm going to the teacher's office," he said.
"Oh, is that so, well have fun, I guess," I waved and left. Yeah.....so much for inviting him to lunch.....
A few weeks later, after my club activities, I'm in the art club by the way, I saw Iwaizumi walk out of his club room with Oikawa, ready to go home. I was so ready at that time. I gathered up my courage. Today is the day. Today I'm going to ask them if we could walk home together. Then I could talk to Iwaizumi. "Hey! You guys heading home too?" I called out.
"Oh hey!" Oikawa noticed me and waved back, big smile on his face. Bless him for his friendliness. I know people call him a playboy, or whatever, but to me he is a god given blessing, my key to approaching Iwaizumi.
"Oikawa, I'm gonna go to Kitagawa right now, I'll see you tomorrow," Iwaizumi said. I stood there speechless. If I remembered correctly, Kitagawa Daiichi is the middle school the two came from, but what business does Iwaizumi have with his middle school? Especially at eight in the evening!
"Okay, I'll see you then!" Oikawa waved at his best friend.
"Bye!" I said to Iwaizumi. He shot me a faint smile. Although it was just one out of courtesy, it killed me inside out. God why is he so handsome? And that smile of his...just unfair! And I watched him leave...again....
"So, wanna go home together? We're in the same direction right?" Oikawa offered.
"Oh yeah, sure!" I replied instantly, hiding my disappointment. To be fair, Oikawa is fun, definitely someone I enjoy being around. He knows how to start a conversation, and is really open and funny. He's slightly arrogant, but that only adds to his charm. I totally understand why girls like him, not just for his face. Either way though, I only see him as a pretty cool friend.
This leaves me wondering, why is it so hard to talk to Iwaizumi?! Every time I see him, he's there and then he's gone, off to do something. It's not that I don't try to talk to him, it's just I don't want to be obvious and I don't want to be rude. When he's talking to someone else, I can't just go in and invite myself into the conversation just to talk to Iwaizumi.... No.... I can't.
Originally I was interested in him as a person, and a possible love interest, since you know...I'm interested. However at this point he just became a challenge I wanted to overcome. I'm actually the type to try to overcome anything I find an obstacle, and at this point I just want to sit down and talk to him, in a real conversation about things like what he likes and what he does on his free time, things like that. I won't be satisfied with things like 'oh isn't the weather nice' NO! I'm. Going. To. Talk. To. Iwaizumi. Period!
Of course, what I decide and what I do doesn't quite line up on the same page....
"Hey~..... Akane-chan!" I walk past Iwaizumi who was in a conversation with Matsukawa, from class 1, and greet my friend from middle school. Akane-chan and I haven't talked much since high school started so she was surprised to hear me call out to her out of the blue, but we ended up chatting up on our lives and catching up. In the end we even ate lunch together and decided to hang out more often. Wow...I even tightened my relationship with an old friend.... And I still haven't talked to Iwaizumi....
Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months. Now, we were in our third and final year. I'm at the stage where if we see each other we'll say hi and bye. That's an improvement....right? At least now he says hi to me without me initiating it.... But then he turns and leaves soon after that, and goes where he needs to go.
"Why are you so obsessed with Iwaizumi? In my point of view I think Oikawa is much better looking," Akane asked during lunch. We were sitting in the courtyard, eating our bentos. Yes, I actually became much closer to her due to my failed attempt of talking to Iwaizumi, she knows this now.
"I don't know, I just can't seem to stop. Ever since day 1 I've been trying to talk to him and fate just doesn't want me to apparently!" I said. "Plus, I don't see Oikawa that way. He's cool and all but not my type. I like someone more... Interesting."
"Like Iwaizumi."
"Well......yeah?" I nodded in an unsure way. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't quite describe the boy as interesting. Sure he's got some quirks, but they're quite typical for a boy, and plus since he's always with the oh so great Oikawa Toru, he just seems kinda plain if you think about it. However, despite all that, he always leaves me wondering what's on his mind. I'm always thinking about where he's going next, where the place that takes him away from me is. I'm always questioning how he's going to respond to my next attempt to talk to him. Iwaizumi Hajime is the boy that keeps me on the tip of my toes. "Yeah," I decided. "Yeah, like Iwaizumi."
"Honestly, I don't even know what to say," Akane chuckled. "Good luck I guess?"
"To be honest I don't even have any hope for a chance with him. I just want to fucking talk to him! Is that so hard?!" I groaned.
I even started going to his games. Seijou is quite the volleyball powerhouse so plenty of our students go to watch the volleyball game. I made it my own duty to go watch his games whenever I can. I gotta say, he really looks best when he's in that volleyball jersey. I love seeing him in that number 4. The way he jumps into the air and smashes down the ball with those muscular arms, whoa. The more I watch him the more obsessed I get. Next time I see him I'm definitely going to say something about his performance in the game.
"Hey Iwaizumi-kun, I saw your game. You were great!" I would say to him.
"Thanks! Hey I didn't know you like volleyball?" he'd say back to me.
"Well, yeah I'm actually quite the volleyball fan, but I don't know much about it."
"Wow, you should watch our practice some time."
"I'd love to. Maybe we could walk home together after your practice and you can tell me some more about volleyball?"
"Sure!"
Yes, that's how it's going to work.
The next day I walk into class, he hasn't arrived yet. I sat my stuff down and started replaying my conversation in my head. And finally, the door slides open and a familiar raven haired boy walks in. His had dark circles under his eyes and he seemed to drag himself into the classroom. I hesitated, but I still went up to him and said, "Iwaizumi-kun, I saw your game yesterday. Great job!"
"Oh, thanks," he said and then went to his seat. O...kay...... Not how I imagined it would go. It seemed kind of inappropriate at the time to continue the conversation, so I just decided to go back to my seat. That was embarrassing....
I just can't seem to find the right time and way to talk to him.
Then came what seemed like the chance of my life. Akane and I were sitting in a cafe on the weekend, staring at the menu, and that's when we heard a pleasant voice, "Hey you guys are here too!" Oikawa and Iwaizumi walked over to us from the cafe front door. Of course it was Oikawa greeting us.
"Hey! What a coincidence!" Akane said, excitement in her voice. I could guess the reason behind her excitement. She was probably happy for me, and this god given chance. Knowing that I'd probably screw it up, she was determined to grab this chance for me. "Sit with us! Here for lunch?" Bless her.
"Yeah! Come on Iwa-chan," Oikawa and Iwaizumi sat down at our table. Akane invited Oikawa to sit on her side, leaving Iwaizumi to sit with me. Oh my god..... This is my chance! But what do I do?! I haven't planned anything beforehand...
"Hey, Iwaizumi-kun. Fancy seeing you here!" I mustered out.
"Yeah, didn't think I'd see you here," he replied nonchalantly. Okay, how am I going to respond to that?
"Um, yeah, I actually quite like this place. I come here occasionally," I said.
"Let's order something to eat," Oikawa said. I was thankful for the fact that Oikawa was here. Even though he always seems to take Iwaizumi away when I want to talk to him, he always seems to get me out of an awkward situation with Iwaizumi.
"Actually, I'm not hungry, I'm gonna go now," Iwaizumi stood up.
"Eh? But Iwa-chan, you were the one who was complaining about how hungry you were!" Oikawa said. My eyes widened and I turned to Iwaizumi, who was now towering over our table, cheeks slightly flushed.
"Shut up! Well I'm not hungry anymore, I'll leave now," Iwaizumi said. Huh? But why? Is it because I'm here? Does he not wanna be with me? Is that why he leaves every time I talk to him? Before I could ask him, he started walking out the cafe. I opened my mouth to call his name, but instead I just looked at Akane. According to her later on when I asked, I looked like it was the end of the world at that time.
"Go after him!" she shouted at me, as if it was the obvious thing to do like brush your teeth in the morning. Instantly, I dashed off. I ran out the cafe and sprinted towards Iwaizumi. The familiar silhouette looked unnaturally painful to me. I'm so used to seeing him turn his back on me, but this time, I didn't want to stare at him from behind anymore.
"Iwaizumi-kun!" I shouted as I finally grabbed him by the edge of his sleeve. The boy's dark brown eyes widened at me and my actions. "Are you leaving because of me?! Do you dislike me?!" Now his face went blank in disbelief. Suddenly, he was the one who became flustered.
"No! No! Of course not! You're great! How could I dislike you!? I just thought you'd like it if I left you with Oikawa," Iwaizumi said, violently shaking his hand, signally no.
"What? Why would you think that?!" I demanded, slightly appalled by the idea.
"Well, don't you like him?"
"No! What makes you think that?"
"I mean, all girls do. And he seems to like you quite a bit. You guys talk to each other a lot. He even mentions you during practice sometimes. I figure you guys are-"
"Hold it! Hold it! I don't like Oikawa any more than a friend! In fact the person I like is you, not him!" I just blurted things out like an idiot. I quickly slapped my hand over my mouth when I realized that I just confessed to him, out of the blue. That was the thing I swore I wouldn't do. I'm supposed to get to know him, have him get to know me and get him to like me and then confess when I'm sure of his feelings for me. Ugh. Now I just ruined it. Goodbye my chance of ever being together with Iwaizumi. He thinks of me as a creep now.
However, Iwaizumi's reaction was out of my expectations, as always. Instead of showing disgust and horror, his face was flushed red with embarrassment and surprise. He placed a hand in front of his face, as if to hide the blush on his cheeks, but unfortunately the shade has already reached his ears and neck. "O-Oh..." he mustered out after a while. Oh? I just confessed to you and you say 'oh?' I thought. "Um...I'm sorry..." Great, now he's gonna reject me. "I didn't know. I guess I'm kind of clueless when it comes to this..." Ugh...please just reject me already don't keep me hanging. "Um...is it okay if we get to know each other a little bit better first?"
"Huh?" I asked, confused.
"I think I should get to know you better...before I give you a reply," Iwaizumi said, face still red as a tomato. I think that's so cute. "Is that okay?"
"Y-...Yes! Yes of course!" I nodded violently. "I'd love that!"
"O...Okay," he seemed to be getting more and more embarrassed at the moment.
"Iwaizumi-kun, could it be...this is your first confession?" I asked. Jackpot. His ears were literally emitting steam now. A smile made its way to my lips. I was already enjoying this side of him. I want to get to know him more, to see more sides of him. "Then, maybe we can start with lunch together?"
"A-Alright...." he nodded.
For the record we didn't go back to the cafe with Akane and Oikawa. We completely forgot about them and decided to go somewhere else, somewhere more....private. With that, we began to talk regularly, exchange texts, and I'd come to watch his practice and games with him noticing.
As if we were always that close, Iwaizumi and I started calling each other by first name basis. And we'd eat lunch together, go home together (with Oikawa) and even hang out on weekends. To be honest I was kind of satisfied with the way we are. Even if in the end he told me he didn't see me as a lover, I'd still be okay with it. Of course, if he said yes and became my boyfriend, I'd be happier than a mouse with cheese.
And so the day came. It was the December 23rd, Friday. I walked out of club that day after school, and there he stood, in front of my club room, as if waiting for me. "Hajime," I called out. He looked up, brown orbs meeting mine. His look told me that he was serious. At that point my heart dropped a little. I knew today was the day. It was the day that would decide whether we'd stay as friends, or god would answer my prayers. I gulped.
"I'm here to give my answer to you," he said to me.
"I'm ready," I told him.
He walked up to me, each step he took made my heart feel heavier and heavier. My breathing literally stopped when he was finally in front of me. He towered over me like a wolf over a rabbit. It was to be expected from a volleyball player such as himself. At that moment, however, he looked the most intimidating out of all the moments I've seen him. A breath, and he parted his lips. I closed my eyes, squeezing them shut, bracing myself for what is to come.
"I love you, __________."
--------------Enjoy---------------
The only light in the room was the flickering of the television as it played the news of some villain attack in Kyushu. You weren't really interested in what was going on in the news, so you just rolled over on the bed. That's really all you do in the day, sleep, eat, and watch T.V. You're not a shut in antisocial; you really aren't. In fact, you graduated from college as valedictorian, and was on your way to becoming a successful lawyer. All of it changed when you were abducted a year ago, and no one ever heard of you ever again.
The door suddenly creaked open, letting in an unusually bright ray of light. You winced as the light hit your eyes, and you looked towards the door to see a familiar figure standing there with a large paper bag in his hands. "I told you to turn the light on when you watch T.V. It's not good for your eyes like this," he said as he turned on the lights. You closed your eyes, and slowly opened them to adjust to the bright rays. "I brought some food. You like sushi right? I got some take out at that place you really like."
He glanced at the bags of trash neatly piled in the corner waiting to be taken out. Despite being in captivity, you liked to keep your quarters clean. "Sorry, I'll take those out immediately," he apologized as he set the bags of food down on the small square table. He walked over to you and sat on the edge of your bed, then gently placed his hand on your shoulder. "Babe?"
You turned your body over and wrapped your arms around his waist, laying your head on his lap. "I missed you..." you muttered softly as he gently stroke your messy bed hair.
"I missed you too..." He smiled as he kissed you on the top of your head. "Hey, did you lose weight? Did I not leave enough food?"
You shook your head. "I wasn't hungry."
"Why not Baby? Don't do this to yourself. You know how much it hurts me when you're like this," Dabi lifted you up gently, and placed you on his lap. He wrapped his arms around you as you leaned your head on his shoulder.
"Toya.... I want to go outside..." you said weakly as you tugged on his white t-shirt he wore under the black coat. Only you knew his real name, and he only let you call him by his real name. You knew about his past, as well as everything he had to go through.
"You can't Baby. It's too dangerous," Dabi placed a tender kiss on the top of your head as he slowly stroke your hair.
"But Toya, I don't feel so good..." Dabi placed a hand on your cheek worriedly as he scanned you up and down. You were unbelievably pale and light. If this were months ago, he would have been suspicious that this was one of your escape antics. However, ever since you opened your heart up to him, you've been quite obedient for the past few months, never bothering with escaping, or asking him to take you outside.
Dabi didn't want to take you outside. There are so many people out there, and they could try to take you from him. But seeing you lay weakly on his lap like this tore his heart to pieces. He can't see you like this. "I'll get the Doc," he said as he laid you back down in the bed. You have been feeling weak for a while now, and lately your muscles have been aching all over, but you don't know why.
After a while Dabi dragged Ujiko inside the room. The old doctor was shocked to find a young woman laying on Dabi's bed, but he didn't question it. After analyzing you for a bit, he quickly came to the conclusion of Vitamin D deficiency. "You need to take her out in the sun more often. At this rate she'll just get weaker and weaker."
"Are there any medicine for this?" asked Dabi.
"The only way humans can take in Vitamin D is through sunlight Dabi. There's nothing I can do," Ujiko answered. "Well, I'm going to take my leave!" The old man scurried out of the room before Dabi suspects he has a thing for this young lady here and tries to kill him.
"Toya, am I going to die?" you asked weakly.
"No Baby," he kissed your forehead gently. "Of course not. I'm going to take you outside."
"You will?" Your eyes widened at the mentioning of outside. The first few months he kidnapped you, you begged him to bring you outside, but not once did he comply. Now, you were finally able to go out. For the first time ever, you had a chance of escaping. If you go out, and see someone, all you had to do was ask for help. All you had to do was scream for help. But would you do that?
"Yes...." Dabi nodded. "Let's go on a walk, first thing tomorrow. Would you like that?" You nodded softly as a smile blossomed over your lips. Finally, you were going to see the sun again.
You slowly sat up from the bed and asked him, "Can we go to a park?"
Dabi frowned. "Not a park Baby, there's too many people."
"What about a forest, or a lake?" After being in this small room for over a year, you were dying to step into nature, and breathe some fresh air. "I'm not trying to run away I swear!" You tugged on his clothes. "Please Toya.... Pleasee!"
"Okay, okay. I know a place. It has lots of sunlight, and lots of trees. We can have a picnic, what do you say?"
"I love you Toya!" You threw your arms around his neck. He chuckled blissfully as he buried his face in the crook of your neck, planting feathered kisses along your smooth skin, up towards your jaw line.
"Wanna eat that sushi I bought?" he asked.
"Yes!"
After dinner, Dabi cuddled you to sleep. You were snuggled close against his chest as he wrapped one arm around your shoulder. You placed you arm over his chest, and laid your head on his shoulder. "(Y/N), I love you. I just want you to know everything I do is to protect you," Dabi whispered.
"Mmhm," you hummed in response. You knew what he did was wrong, very wrong, but you didn't doubt his love. In the beginning of your captivity, you were constantly scared of getting raped by him. There wasn't a single day you didn't try to escape from this room. However, he never touched you. He bought you a nice T.V, lots of books, comfortable clothes, and amazing food. There were many days he'd bring back high quality take out for you, and he'd sit in the corner eating a convenient store rice ball. Even though his methods were sickening, but he really did love you. After a few months, you finally opened up to him, and slowly, slowly, accepted him. And that's what led you here.
You were so excited the next morning. The room had no windows, so it was pitch black when you woke up, but you knew it was time to go out. "Toya, Toya wake up. You said you'd take me out today!" you gently shook your still sleeping lover on the bed. Dabi groaned tiredly before grabbing his phone to check the time. It was past 9 a.m; the sun was out.
"Okay." In his head he was starting to get second thoughts. What if you run away? What if some random guy sees you and kidnaps you? What if you guys get caught by heroes?
However, he knew you needed this. He has never seen you this excited about something since the day you set foot in this room. You put together some light breakfast with the things Dabi bought yesterday, and pulled him from the bed. "Morning Baby," he smiled at you.
You pecked his lips and said, "Morning Toya. Time for breakfast." Seeing you this happy put a smile on his face.
After washing up and eating breakfast, you finally put on the shoes that have been lying around for over a year. Dabi dusted them off and made sure there weren't any creepy crawlies inside before helping you put them on. He packed a blanket, and some store bought premade sandwiches in his bag. "Ready?" he asked you.
You couldn't even explain how long you've been waiting for this. You watched him open the locks on the door, and your eyes started to water. You were finally getting out. Dabi gently took your hand and guided you out the room. You quickly scanned the halls to see nothing has changed in this dark, sketchy apartment complex. However, there was a ray of light. You ran to the window at the end of the hall and placed your hands on the glass. Your eyes squinted as it tried to adjust to the bright light, but you took in the breathtaking sight of the city before you. Even if all you could see was a sketchy ally and a few thugs, you were moved to tears. "Come on Baby, it's time to go," Dabi took you by the hand, fearful that you might catch the attention of those thugs outside, and pulled you down the stairs.
You were now overwhelmed by the fact that you were finally outside that room, and sobbing like crazy. Dabi placed an arm around you and pulled your face to his chest. "Shh, Baby it's okay. Don't cry."
The moment you got out of the building, your feet stopped. You felt the sun rays hit your skin and you simply enjoyed the sensation of sunlight. "Baby let's go. I know a place you'll like," Dabi gently tugged your wrist.
"Toya...." you wept. "Why did you lock me up for so long?"
"I told you, it's dangerous outside. People could try and take you from me?"
"But that's because-" You were scared to finish the sentence. That's because you kidnapped me! The sun, the sky, the fresh air has once again reminded you what this man robbed you, freedom. You can't believe you almost forgot what it's like to be free, the rights you had as a human being. You grabbed onto his shirt and begged, "Toya, I don't wanna go back to that room anymore. I don't.... Please don't make me go back!"
Dabi wrapped his arms around you and placed his lips over teary eyes. "Shhh," he whispered as he tried to kiss away the tears. From the corner of his eyes he could see a few people looking their way, and he was starting to feel uneasy. "Let's get to our picnic place first shall we?" You felt something hit the back of your neck, and suddenly your eyes went black.
When you woke up, you were laying on the soft blanket Dabi brought with him on your way out. You heard birds chirping around you and you could feel the light of the sub reflecting off your skin, leaving traces of warmth over you. Under your head was Dabi's thigh. He was gently caressing your cheek and watching you sleep. "Looks like you're awake now my darling," he said when he saw your eyes flutter open.
"Toya, where are we?" you asked weakly as you sat up. Your eyes widened when you saw the beautiful vast meadow with wild flowers blossoming everywhere. Behind you guys was a small forest, which you can hear birds chirping from inside. "It's beautiful!"
"I knew you'd like this place," Dabi pressed his lips against your temple. "We can stay as long as you like."
"As long as I like?"
"As long as you like."
"I wanna stay here forever," you said. "I don't wanna go back anymore. Toya please. It's lonely in there, and scary. There's no sunlight, no flowers, no trees.... Please Toya don't make me go back." Tears were starting to form in your eyes again.
Dabi pulled you into his chest and whispered soft apologies into your ear. Oh how he hated seeing you like this. He didn't want to do this to you, he really didn't. Oh how much he loved that smile of yours when you did the things you liked, hanging out with friends, going to the movies... He still remembered the day you gave your valedictorian speech; he was watching from afar. You were beautiful, wearing some light makeup, in that beautiful graduation gown, the biggest smile on your face. He was so proud of you.
But he can't do it. He can't stand watching other men fawn over you, lay their filthy eyes on you. There were a few times he caught creepy perverts trying to follow you home, and he burned them to ashes. He knew it was wrong to keep you locked up like that, but he had no choice. Either he locks you up so he knows your safe from those creeps, or he lets you free in fear that other men would lay their filthy hands on you. "I'm sorry Baby. I'm so sorry.... If you'd like, we can come out here more often. Ujiko said you need more sunlight. We can come here every day. Just you and me. I won't let you stay in there all by yourself anymore okay?"
"Do you promise?"
"Promise." He cupped your face in both hands, and gently pressed his lips against yours. You closed your eyes and relaxed into the tender kiss as he slowly slipped his tongue into your mouth. He's always so gentle to you, to the point you cannot relate him to the so called villain they say he is on the news.
Dabi gently laid you down on the blanket, and hovered himself over you as your tongues danced together in harmony. Your arms laced around his neck, and you hands through his hair. "Mm, Baby..." he whispered huskily as he planted butterfly kisses down your jaw and neck, along you collarbone.
You knew it was wrong for you to fall this madly in love with the person who kidnapped you and locked you up for over a year, but you couldn't help it. Maybe you were just as sick as him.... Or even worse. But you couldn't help but melt under his touch. "Toya...." you moaned his name as he sucked on your sweet spot at the crook of your neck, leaving an obvious and purple mark over your pale skin.
"I love you Baby.... Promise me you won't leave me," he whispered as he kissed you up and down your neck. "Please..."
"I promise Toya. I promise..." It always saddened you when he begged you to stay. Even though you were under his captivity, and he could make you do whatever he wanted, he was still so insecure on the inside. The feeling of being abandoned haunts him every day. He doesn't want to be tossed aside again, not by anyone, especially not by you. He needed you.
Dabi laid down next to you, his arms around your waist as he buried his face in the crook of your neck, breathing in your relaxing scent. You gently ran your hands through his black hair, the hair that you helped him dye. His natural hair color was a beautiful snowy white... You didn't understand why he always dyed his hair black. The two of you laid under the sun, and wasted away the day together doing absolutely nothing.
At the end of the day, you ended up going back to the apartment, but as he promised, he took you out again the next day, and the day after that. Every day the two of you would go out picnicking at the meadow, and nap under the sun together. Ever since, your mood and your health has been improving drastically. Dabi loved the increasing smiles on your face and your improving complexion. Even though it was risky, but taking you out was definitely worth it. As days passed, he was starting to feel less and less paranoid about you escaping and others finding you.
"Baby, stay right here. I'll be right back," he said to you one day as you two laid on the picnic blanket.
"Where are you going?" you asked worriedly.
He simply smiled at you and kissed you quickly and softly on the lips. "I won't be far." And he crawled up from the ground and left, leaving you laying there to count the clouds on your own.
A while later you heard a rustle in the trees behind you, and you sat up. "Toya?" you called, but to your surprise, you lock eyes with a complete stranger. He wore army green shorts and a grey t-shirt, and had a large camping bag on his back. He also had a large camera hanging around his neck, and when he saw you he gave you a big bright smile.
"Hey!" He greeted. "Nice day huh!"
You didn't know what to say. This was the first time you've come face to face with someone that wasn't Dabi in over a year. You lips hung open and you just stared at him in awe. Inside your head was Dabi's voice, replaying over and over again. "The men outside are dangerous. They want to take you away from me. Don't trust any of them. Don't talk to any of them."
"Is something wrong?" the stranger asked you.
There was a voice inside your head that said, I was kidnapped and locked up in a room for over a year and he only recently let me out because of Vitamin D deficiency.
"N-Nothing!" Your mouth blurted out. "I-It's nice indeed." What happened to you? You used to be so good at talking to people.
"I'm Nori, a traveling photographer! I came to take pictures and boy is this place beautiful! What's your name?"
"I'm-"
"Baby." You eyes widen when Dabi interrupted you. "What did I say about talking to strangers?"
"A boyfriend huh! How are you- Whoa sir are those special effect makeup you have there?" the man named Nori asked when he saw Dabi come out of the shadows. You gasped in horror when you realized what Dabi was going to do.
"Toya no... He was just passing by," you said as you ran up to Dabi, throwing your arms around him to try and stop him from coming closer to Nori. From the tone of your voice and the deadly look in Dabi's eyes, Nori could already feel that something was wrong. His hands trembled as they reached for his phone in his pocket, but he suddenly saw blue flames flying in his direction, causing him to drop his mobile device onto the ground. He slowly backed away from the black haired man with scars all over his face and body. "Toya please..."
"He saw you. He laid his fucking eyes on you!" Dabi growled through gritted teeth.
"He was just being nice."
"WRONG! HE'S TRYING TO STEAL YOU FROME ME!" Dabi grabbed you by the arm and pulled you behind him. Blue flames shot out of his right hand and started flying towards Nori, who tried to back away but tripped and fell to the ground screaming.
"No! Toya please!" You tugged on the back of his coat, screaming and begging for him to stop. All these days of love and affection had you forgetting something crucial, something you shouldn't have forgotten. Dabi is a villain. "Please......" Tears streamed down your face as you continued to beg him to have mercy on the poor man. But he didn't listen. You didn't dare look. You closed your eyes and covered your ears so you didn't have to listen to the deafening scream coming out of the man rolling on the ground, burning alive.
At some point during the whole process you fainted. You didn't know when it happened, but by the time you woke up, you were back in the apartment. You sat up from your bed immediately and searched for Dabi. "Toya? Toya!" you shouted.
"Yeah?" Dabi's head popped out from the bathroom. His hair was dripping wet, and he only had his boxers on, revealing his scarred upper body. You got out of bed and ran towards him. You grabbed him by the arms and looked him in the eye.
"Is he dead?"
"Who?" Dabi asked, eyeing you with confusion.
"The guy! The photographer!"
"What photographer? Baby, there was no photographer."
"What? But there was a man! He had this...this camera right here!" You formed a box with your hands, waving it in front of your chest to show him what you were talking about. "You...You-" You burned him....
Dabi smiled at you as he gently took your hands in his. "Sweetheart, what are you talking about? Was it a dream? Perhaps you had a bad dream when you fell asleep earlier today."
"A dream?" No, it wasn't a dream. It definitely wasn't.... But you didn't know if you should continue to argue with him. Dabi pressed his lips against your forehead, and soothed out the wrinkles between your brows.
"I know what would make you feel better. Look," he turned you around and pushed you towards the small table. Your eyes widened when you saw a beautiful flower crown laying on top of the table. You gently picked it up with both hands. It was weaved out of wildflowers and soft twigs. "Do you like it?" He asked as he wrapped his arms around your waist.
"It-...It's beautiful..." you muttered.
"Put it on." You placed it over your head, and he turned you around to inspect you. His lips curled upward lovingly as he brushed a loose hair out of your face. "You look beautiful. I saw those flowers on our way through the forest earlier today, so I decided I'd make one for you. When I got back, you were asleep, so I carried you back home."
"Home?"
"Yes (Y/N), this is our home. Yours and mine." He kissed you on the lips. "Forever."
You didn't know if this place was home, or if this place should be home. One thing you knew, was that you are never, ever, going to be able to escape from him....
