Regarding the postponed release of "YURI!!! on ICE the movie: ICE ADOLESCENCE," we have come to the decision to unfortunately cancel its production. We deeply apologize for not being able to meet the expectations of all those who have been waiting and have continued to support us throughout these years. The production committee and staff have been in constant discussions to create and to deliver the movie, but due to various circumstances, we have had to make the difficult decision to stop the production. It's so upsetting how MAPPA treated Yuri On Ice. I wasn't expecting any big updates on Ice Adolescence any time soon but I had a little hope for a 10th anniversary event or something. I'm so disappointed right now

i can not get over the fact that yuri on ice blew up the internet, garnered a massive following, became so relevant within figure skating that we had miu suzaki and ryuichi kihara's ice dance routine to 'yuri on ice', and NONE OF THAT was enough for mappa to continue the project.

i truly am heartbroken over the cancellation of ice adolesence. yuri on ice skyrocketed mappa and is the reason the studio is as big as they are today, yet after all the continued support from fans, they cancelled it after SEVEN years. they could've made the cancellation announcement in 2020 when it was clear it would be cancelled, but they strung people along for another FOUR years. this was the show that got me into anime when i was 13, now i'm nearly 21 and it still remains my favourite. mappa fumbled bad on this one and i hope they realise it from the uproar of tweets and posts made by the fans
