To any fellow artists in my audience, do you guys have any good tips on coloring comics? I wanna step up my coloring and shading but most tutorials I find just show me how to realistically shade and color faces and not backgrounds other than nature ones.

I don't want to draw realistically! I already know how! All I want is to learn how to draw like Spiderverse and Mutant Mayhem and there's nothing to teach me how😔

I've always loved making art/stories and using them to help people. Whether it helps make them happy, challenges them and makes them think, or gets them to laugh or cry (in a good way).

5: I don’t really have one specific piece of art that i’m proud of. I’m just happy if it looks better than the last, haha.

12: I’ve never participated in art collabs. Mostly because I’ve had people before in the past say that they want to with me and never did. Also my schedule is very busy. I am open to the idea but it depends on what the collab is and if I even have the time for it.

More Sonic movie character updates! This time it's pretzel lady, Maddie and resident sheriff, Wade! I didn't do too much to Maddie, just adjusted her head to be rounder since Tika Sumpter's face is naturally round.

But Wade gave me the hardest time because Adam Pally always changes hairstyles every five minutes. I eventually settled on his movie 2 hair because if I worked on it any longer I was going to drive myself crazy XD

Hey did you see whos voicing shadow for the 3rd sonic movie? what's your thoughts?

I won't say who in case some of you don't want spoilers. Needless to say I thought the casting choice was a bit odd. I want to make it clear that I don't hate the actor or the fact that they casted him. It's just that I grew up with Sonic X and Boom, and I'm so used to hearing Jason Griffith and Kirk Thornton's voices as Shadow that I can't really hear him being voiced by anyone else.

But I'll just have to wait and see when the movie comes out for me to say whether I liked him or not.

Fun fact: Luigi's pose is based off of Starfire's from the original Teen Titans episode "Apprentice". When sketching out the roughs for this page, her pose was the first thing that popped into my mind.

And it made sense. In that episode, Starfire had to fight a loved one turned evil and in this au, Luigi has to fight a loved one tuned evil. It's like poetry, it rhymes ;)

I think the Mario movie would definitely benefit from having a tie-in show due to the potential for worldbuilding, which would be a first for Illumination because I don't think they've ever made a series based on any of their movies

(I'm gonna lump these two together since they both have the same kind of question.) An Illumination Mario movie cartoon sounds great on paper. But it depends on how it's executed.

Buckle up, this is gonna be a looong post:

A Mario movie cartoon would give us the time needed to flesh out the characters and worlds a lot more than the movie did. We could have time for more bonding moments between Mario and Luigi, we could get to see more of the Mario family, Bowser's minions could do some comedic moments and we could learn more about Bowser and the other Mario villains, we can explore the Mushroom Kingdom and other kingdoms and worlds from the games, and so on and so forth.

But it depends on what kind of story Illumination would do. Would it be more like Wander over Yonder- a comedic episodic adventure that slowly builds up to an overarching story in later seasons? Would it be like Infinity Train- an mystery/ adventure that slowly reveals more about its world with each episode and takes the time to flesh out and explore characters mindset, personalities, and motivations? Or would it be like CocoMellon- a lazy, mindless, cash grab timewaster that parents can put on to keep their kids quiet. It really would depend on who Illumination would hire to direct and write the show. Someone with a passion for Mario and wants to tell a good story, or someone who only cares about profit and turning the show into nothing but a boring easter egg factory for fans.

Another deciding factor would be if Illumination would do this in 2D or 3D. Now I believe that 2D would work best for Mario. Illumination can do 2D animation well as seen in the Minions 2 movie end credits and even in the Mario movie concept art.

With a proper budget and the right creative team, a Mario movie cartoon is possible! But maybe Nintendo would be hesitant to do one because of how the 90's Super Show cartoons were. For as nostalgic as they are, no one can deny that all three of those cartoons had a laundry list of problems, as well as a budget of seven dollars and a chicken sandwich.

But I'm imagining Illumination hiring the Flying Bark Studios creative team. You know, the guys who made Rottmnt and Lego Monkie Kid!

Imagine a Mario movie cartoon done in that gorgeous art style and with the same fluid and well choreographed fight scenes as those shows. I'm already drooling at the thought, it would be so amazing!!

But knowing Illumination, they would probably do it in 3D. Now, 3D can look good in kids cartoons. 2012 TMNT, My Dad the Bounty Hunter, and Maya and the Three are proof that it can be done well and even with a cinematic quality with Maya's case. But 95% of 3D kids cartoons aren't given a proper budget and are mostly shameless cash grabs mostly made by greedy corporations trying to wring as much money from parents as they can like with Megamind Rules, Coco Mellon, SpongeBob Camp Coral, etc.

So like I said, it depends on Illuminations motivations (which would probably mostly be just money), if it's done in 2D or 3D, and the passion and love that whoever directs and writes the cartoon has for Mario and the franchise.

We all know the Mario Movie’s weaknesses by now, so what are the movie’s strengths?

What were the things you really loved/liked about the film that made you create you really good Super Mario universe au comic?

Definitely the animation and character designs. The artists and animators were able to translate the game designs seamlessly into the movie. Even the environments still retained its cartoony look with out being too realistically detailed.

The moments between Luigi and Mario are the highlights of the film, as well as the action parts which are really fun and energetic. I also like how we got to see the Mario family for once, even though I wish we had gotten some more time with them.

As for my comic, after seeing Marilyn the first time in the dinner scene (her real name is never revealed. I just call her Marilyn because in the Mario super show live action segments, the bros had a cousin with that name.). I couldn't stop thinking about her and what her personality would be. I also thought about what her relationship was with the bros and her reaction to their adventure in the Mushroom Kingdom and everything that they went through. And before I knew it, I made Sleepless, the prologue to Super Mario Universe.
