I read a head canon or drabble on here about Bakugou learning to be soft for you, and now I can't get this scenario out of my head. If you know who originally wrote this idea, please mention or tag them below! Trigger warning ⚠️:mentions of domestic abuse(not Katsuki), Katsuki cusses like twice towards the end, eating disorders, and childhood trauma ahead! Proofread to the best of my abilities! I'm terribly dyslexic.
Tumblr media
You and Katsuki had recently started becoming something a little more than just friends but were not quite dating yet. You recently opened up to him about your past and your troublesome family dynamic. The easily outraged father and the emotionally absent mother trope was your unfortunate reality that continued to plague you, even in the safety of the UA dorms.
You knew going into whatever this was with Katsuki was going to be difficult, seeing as both of your upbringings had been less than stellar. You tended to avoid dating because of how easily triggered you were by your past partners, but Katsuki was different. While past partners had hidden their intentions under the guise of caring about you too much to make you easier to manipulate, he was blunt and honest and always made his intentions and feelings known.
The most challenging part of your dynamic was that while Katsuki's tendency was to explode, your tendency was to implode; to turn inward and blame yourself for whatever happened. Katsuki is aware of your trauma response and tries to be conscious of it, he didn't realize how deep it can go you for and how much more sensitive you are to him especially, because he is someone that you are actively trying to bring your walls down for. He learns one day before the beginning of class.
You, along with a few of your classmates, got to class a couple of minutes early and were just chatting. You were two chairs behind and one diagonal from Katsuki in the room. Uraraka and Tsuyu were talking to you about the upcoming weekend and were planning a game night, inviting you to join. Being as excited as you were, you didn't notice the arising argument going on behind you. Katsuki ground his teeth and hissed at Kaminari and Sero, who were relentlessly teasing him for a picture of him and Best Jeanist walking the streets. Bakugou's hair had been perfectly combed over, and the pair of skinny jeans he had been forced into wearing in full view. He growled at them to knock it off, or else he would explode their faces during hero training.
You turned around to Katsuki, excitedly calling his name, only for him to snap his head in your direction and yell, "What?!" His anger fell away as realization and dread flooded his chest as he watched you immediately deflate, sinking into yourself. All you could see in your mind was your father's angry face, and the memory of him yelling at you for bothering him again rang through your ears. "Never mind." You whispered and sat quietly in your seat. He opened his mouth to say something, but Aizawa entered the classroom, swiftly bringing an end to all ongoing conversations just by his mere presence.
He turned to face the front, hoping he would have the opportunity to talk to you later. Except later never came. You kept to yourself the rest of the day. Opting to train by yourself during the hero course and quietly eating lunch with Urakaka, Tsuyu, and Mina, nodding your head every so often to show them that your were engaged in the conversation.
Katsuki would glance at you every few minutes, trying to capture your attention, but you ignored his stares, instead keeping to yourself because you felt safer that way. The school day finally ended, and everyone made their way back to their dorms to shower and finish homework. Bakugou entered the common area, searching for you among your fellow classmates, but you were nowhere in sight.
Dinner was called shortly after, and everyone started to file into the dining hall. All of the class 1A was there. Except for you. "Where's y/n?" Katsuki grumbled to Mina. "Oh, she's back at her dorm. She said she wasn't feeling well." "Yeah, I noticed that." Urakaka chimed in. "She was really quiet today. I hope she feels better." Everyone mumbled in agreement.
Katsuki scoffed, swiping a bowl from the kitchen counter and filling it with the ramen noodles and broth that had been made for dinner that evening. He set the bowl on a food tray and began to walk towards the dorms with it. "Bakugou, I highly discourage you from eating in your dorm. It is important for you to create comradery with your fellow classmates, and there is no better way to achieve that than to share a meal with us." Iida declared, his arm chopping the air as he spoke. "It's not for me, check engine light." Katsuki snapped. "It's for y/n." He mumbled, walking the rest of the way out of the dining hall with the food tray, leaving the rest of his class to give one another dumbfounded looks of surprise.
Bakugou made his way to your floor, finally standing at your dorm door. He took a deep breath and gently tapped on the door with a knuckle. He heard the soft rustling of bed sheets, and then what he assumed was you shuffling over to the door. You opened your door several inches but closed it by about three when you saw it was Katsuki. He couldn't help but think you looked so soft and cute in your pink pajamas and slightly mussed hair.
"Hey." He greeted you gently. "Hey." You whispered back. "Raccoon eyes said you weren't feeling well." He started, "So, I brought you dinner." Katsuki gestured to the tray in his hands. You nodded, "Thank you, but you didn't have to do that." He shrugged, "I wanted to." "Wanna tell me why you're not feeling good?" You shook your head, worried about being belittled for having your feelings hurt. "Is it because I snapped at your earlier this morning?" Katsuki leaned toward you a little bit, gently urging you to open up.
His features became softened as he saw tears begin to flood your water line, and your bottom lip began quiver. Without thinking, he quickly set the food tray aside on a table in the hall, forced your door the rest of the way opened and brought you to his chest in a tight embrace. You gasped lungs full of air as you began to sob uncontrollably. This was why you didn't want to be around anyone. You didn't want someone to ask about your day, just for you to burst into tears.
Katsuki whispered sweet nothings to you, a mantra of, "It's okay. You're okay." "You're safe." "Breathe, Pretty." After a few minutes of you crying, you finally began to calm down. Tears still flowing, but the shaking of your body lessening little by little. Your chest still rattled with anxiety as flashbacks of you balled up in a corner of your childhood home, sobbing as your father loomed over you, voice booming at you to shut up or he'd give you something to cry about.
Katsuki soothed you, rubbing your back and beginning to sway you gently in your doorway. You began to come back to reality, gripping the back of his shirt as you took deep breaths, trying to bring yourself back to lucidity. "There you go. Come back to me, Princess." He praised, resting his chin on the crown of your head. "I'm sorry. 'm so sorry." He whispered, moving his lips to graze your temple. "I-It's okay. I'm okay." You hiccupped. "No, it's not. I shouldn't've talked to you like that. I know better." He replied softly, but sternly. "Yeah.." You murmur after a few moments. " 's there anything I can do?" He asked, still holding you, but not quite as tightly as before. "What you're doing right now is perfect." You laugh despite yourself. The blonde nods and continues to rock you from side to side.
"Guess I should've asked if I could come in." He quipped, realizing he had kind of barged into your space, "Well.. It's a little too late to ask now." You giggled, looking up at him. Katsuki felt his face heat up as he stared down at you. You looked so cute, even with your bitten lips, puffy, pink eyes, and reddened nose. "But, it's okay. I want you here." You brought your hands out from behind where you had been gripping the back of his shirt and rested them against his chest. Taking a deep, relaxing breath and melting into him. He hummed, the tips of his ears turning pink as you leaned against him. This was a first for the two of you. And while the circumstances were less than ideal, you couldn't help but think how wonderful Katsuki's heated body felt against yours. His warmth and grip made you feel the safest you had ever felt, not having known many other comforting touches.
"Ya hungry?" He asked, nodding his head toward the forgotten food tray on the side table in the hall. "Depends. What'cha bring?" "Ramen." "Oh, yeah. I'm hungry for that." "Might be a bit cold now, though." He grumbled in annoyance at the thought. "That's okay. Just means I won't burn my mouth this time." You patted his chest, and he lowered his arms away from you, stepping out into the hall to grab the tray and bring it into your dorm.
You sat in the middle of your bed with your legs crossed under you, murmuring a thank you to Katsuki as he handed you the tray. "So, were ya' just not going to eat tonight?" He inquired, sitting down on the end of the bed. He gave you a bothered stare when you shook your head. "No. I have hard time eating when I'm upset and if I force myself to eat despite it, it'll just come back up." You answered honestly, stirring the chopsticks in your bowl awkwardly. "Hmm." Katsuki hummed in understanding. "And how often is that?" You stopped stirring your chopsticks and curled your lips inward as if you were zipping them closed, afraid of how he would respond to your answer. "That often, huh?" He said, crossing his arms. You sat there in an uncomfortable silence as you carefully pieced together what you were about to say.
"My relationship with my body, my self worth, and food has never been healthy." You admitted. "My upbringing taught me that food is not a necessity, but something that needs to be earned. My father would keep food from me when I did something that made him irritated or angry. Sometimes, I would go days without food, until my school would call with concerns, which of course would make him harbor more anger towards me." You huffed a laugh in spite of yourself.
Katsuki uncrossed his arms, opting to rest a hand on your knee in an attempt to be comforting, quietly urging you to continue. "It's now become a habit that when I make someone angry or upset, my body doesn't want food. I can't eat because my brain was taught that I don't deserve to eat." You finished your explanation, finally staring up at the pair of ruby orbs that had been staring at you in disbelief for a while.
Katsuki cleared his throat as he pondered his reply. "First of all," he started, "you deserve to eat. Beside the fact that every person deserves to eat because we need to, to survive; making food a basic human right," his face started to flush with blood again as he thought about his next words. "You are the most wonderful, kindest hearted person I know. And I'm not just saying that shit to be nice. I fucking mean it." He gritted his teeth and looked down and away from you in embarrassment. "I know." You whispered, causing Katsuki to whip his head up to you.
You were looking away and blushing too, reaching for his hand on your knee and resting yours on top of his. "You, of all people, deserve to eat." He stated. You nodded your eyes, watering, but no tears falling as you tilt your head back to keep them in. "I know." You huff a laugh again. "Just wish I could undo the damage my father caused." You whispered, sighing deeply. "It'll take time, but you can." Katsuki flipped over his hand on your knee, so it was now holding yours. You nodded and hummed in agreement.
"Would it help if you had someone to eat with you?" You looked up at Katsuki, and he turned bright red. "It doesn't have t' be me!" He blurted out, waving his free hand about. "But what if I want it to be?" You replied, pouting at him a bit. "Al-Alright." He paused, then began to get up off of your bed. Immediate anxiety filled your chest as you watched the blonde begin to head for your door. "W-Where are you going?" You asked, concern apparent in your voice. "To get myself dinner. I'll be back, but don't feel like ya have to wait for me." He said, gesturing to your bowl of ramen. "I will." You chuckled in response as he left your dorm.

Thank you for reading! This was terribly self-indulgent, but I hope that you liked it! Remember that you are worthy of having your needs met; emotional, mental, and physical. Katsuki is out here reminding us of that one fan fiction at a time. And just in case no one else has told you today, I love you!❤️

katsuki is finishing off his protein drink in the early morning before going to work and his eyes fall to the little wobbly-lined, colorful artwork that's been hanging up on the fridge for almost a year: three stick figures all with long arms, connected at the hands, underneath a misspelled, "i love my family!!!" and everything in his face feels hot and tight and, even though he has to leave right now—he takes another moment to give you and your sleeping wild child another quick kiss on the head.

🍉🇵🇸 eSims for Gaza masterpost 🇵🇸🍉
Which eSims are currently being called for?
As of April 9th:
eSim plans being called for are:
Nomad (“regional Middle East” plan): code NOMADCNG
Holafly (“Israel” and “Egypt” plans): code HOLACNG —be sure to include which plan it is in the subject line
Simly (“Palestine” and “Middle East” plans): 15% off today (April 9) with code "EID"
Airalo (“Discover” plan)
If you sent an eSim more than two weeks ago and it is still valid and not yet activated, reply to the email in which you originally sent the eSim. To determine whether the eSim is still valid, scan the QR code with a smartphone; tap the yellow button that reads “Cellular plan”; when a screen comes up reading “Activate eSIM,” click the button that says “Continue.” If a message comes up reading “eSIM Cannot Be Added: This code is no longer valid. Contact your carrier for more information,” the eSim is activated, expired, or had an error in installation, and should not be sent. It is very important not to re-send invalid eSims, since people may walk several kilometers to access wifi to connect their eSims only to find out that they cannot be activated.
If a screen appears reading “Activate eSIM: An eSIM is ready to be activated” with a button asking you to “Continue,” do not click “Continue” to activate the eSim on your phone; exit out of the screen and reply to the email containing that QR code.
Be sure you're looking at the original post, as this will be continually updated. Any new instructions about replying to emails for specific types of unactivated plans will also appear here.
Check the notes of blackpearlblasts's eSim post, as well as fairuzfan's 'esim' tag, for referral and discount codes.
How do I purchase an eSim?
If you cannot download an app or manage an eSim yourself, send funds to Crips for eSims for Gaza (Visa; Mastercard; Paypal; AmEx; Canadian e-transfer), or to me (venmo @gothhabiba; paypal.me/Najia; cash app $NajiaK, with note “esims” or similar; check the notes of this post for updates on what I've purchased.)
You can purchase an eSim yourself using a mobile phone app, or on a desktop computer (with the exception of Simly, which does not have a desktop site). See this screenreader-accessible guide to purchasing an eSim through each of the five services that the Connecting Humanity team is calling for (Simly, Nomad, Mogo, Holafly, and Airalo).
Send a screenshot of the plan's QR code to [email protected]. Be sure to include the app used, the word "esim," the type of plan (when an app has more than one, aka "regional Middle East" versus "Palestine"), and the amount of data or time on the plan, in the subject line or body of your email.
Message me if you have any questions or if you need help purchasing an eSim through one of these apps.
If you’re going to be purchasing many eSims at once, see Jane Shi’s list of tips.
Which app should I use?
Try to buy an eSim from one of the apps that the team is currently calling for (see above).
If the team is calling for multiple apps:
Nomad is best in terms of data price, app navigability, and ability to top up when they are near expiry; but eSims must be stayed on top of, as you cannot top them up once the data has completely run out. Go into the app settings and make sure your "data usage" notifcations are turned on.
Simly Middle East plans cannot be topped up; Simly Palestine ones can. Unlike with Nomad, data can be topped up once it has completely run out.
Holafly has the most expensive data, and top-ups don't seem to work.
Mogo has the worst user interface in my opinion. It is difficult or impossible to see plan activation and usage.
How much data should I purchase?
Mirna el-Helbawi has been told that large families may all rely on the same plan for data (by setting up a hotspot). Some recipients of eSim plans may also be using them to upload video.
For those reasons I would recommend getting the largest plan you can afford for plans which cannot be topped up: namely, Simly "Middle East" plans, and Holafly plans (they say you can top them up, but I haven't heard of anyone who has gotten it to work yet).
For all other plans, get a relatively small amount of data (1-3 GB, a 3-day plan, etc.), and top up the plan with more data once it is activated. Go into the app’s settings and make sure low-data notifications are on, because a 1-GB eSIM can expire very quickly.
Is there anything else I need to do?
Check back regularly to see if the plan has been activated. Once it's been activated, check once a day to see if data is still being used, and how close the eSim is to running out of data or to expiring; make sure your notifications are on.
If the eSim hasn't been activated after three weeks or so, reply to the original email that you sent to Gaza eSims containing the QR code for that plan.
If you purchased the eSim through an app which has a policy of starting the countdown to auto-expiry a certain amount of time after the purchase of the eSim, rather than only upon activation (Nomad does this), then also reply to your original e-mail once you're within a few days of this date. If you're within 12 hours of that date, contact customer service and ask for a credit (not a refund) and use it to purchase and send another eSim.
How can I tell if my plan has been activated? How do I top up a plan?
The Connecting Humanity team recommends keeping your eSims topped up once they have been activated.
See this guide on how to tell if your plan has been activated, how to top up plans, and (for Nomad) how to tell when the auto-expiry will start. Keep topping up the eSim for as long as the data usage keeps ticking up. This keeps a person or family connected for longer, without the Connecting Humanity team having to go through another process of installing a new eSim.
If the data usage hasn't changed in a week or so, allow the plan to expire and purchase another one.
What if I can't afford a larger plan, or don't have time or money to keep topping up an eSim?
I have set up a pool of funds out of which to buy and top up eSims, which you can contribute to by sending funds to my venmo (@gothhabiba), PayPal (paypal.me/Najia), or cash app ($NajiaK) (with note “esims” or similar). Check the notes of this post for updates on what I've purchased, which plans are active, and how much data they've used.
Crips for eSims for Gaza also has a donation pool to purchase eSims and top them up.
Gaza Online (run by alumni of Gaza Sky Geeks) accepts monetary donations to purchase eSims as needed.
What if my eSim has not been activated, even after I replied to my email?
Make sure that the QR code you sent was a clear screenshot, and not a photo of a screen; and that you didn’t install the eSim on your own phone by scanning the QR code or clicking “install automatically."
Possible reasons for an eSim not having been activated include: it was given to a journalist as a back-up in case the plan they had activated expired or ran out of data; there was an error during installation or activation and the eSim could no longer be used; the eSim was installed, but not activated, and then Israeli bombings destroyed the phone, or forced someone to leave it behind.
An eSim that was sent but couldn’t be used is still part of an important effort and learning curve. Errors in installation, for example, are happening less often than they were in the beginning of the project.
Why should I purchase an eSim? Is there any proof that they work?
Israel is imposing near-constant communications blackouts on Gaza. The majority of the news that you are seeing come from Gaza is coming from people who are connected via eSim.
eSims also connect people to news. People are able to videochat with their family for the first time in months, to learn that their family members are still alive, to see their newborn children for the first time, and more, thanks to eSims.
Some of this sharing of news saves lives, as people have been able to flee or avoid areas under bombardment, or learn that they are on evacuation lists.
Why are different plans called for at different times?
Different eSims work in different areas of the Gaza Strip (and Egypt, where many refugees currently are). The team tries to keep a stockpile of each type of sim on hand.
Is there anything else I can do to help?
There is an urgent need for more eSims. Print out these posters and place them on bulletin boards, in local businesses, on telephone poles, or wherever people are likely to see them. Print out these foldable brochures to inform people about the initiative and distribute them at protests, cafes and restaurants, &c. Also feel free to make your own brochures using the wording from this post.
The Connecting Humanity team is very busy connecting people to eSims and don't often have time to answer questions. Check a few of Mirna El Helbawi's most recent tweets and see if anyone has commented with any questions that you can answer with the information in this post.

"No sugarcoating the Palestinian cause to make it palatable for Westerners. We don’t want peace—we want freedom. We don’t want to live side-by-side, we want the settlers to leave our land. There’s no conversation to be had. The demand is clear—we want to return to our home. We don’t negotiate with terror!sts. Long live the Palestinian revolution. ✌🏼🔻🇵🇸"

Every mainstream media outlet imaginable wants you to know that Israel has just re-opened the Erez border, thereby allowing aid through it for the first time since October 7. The White House released a statement saying that it’s delighted to hear this news. It’s a great improvement from previous arrangements, reports state.
What they fail to mention is that now 30% of all Palestinian children under 2 in Gaza are malnourished, that the death toll has surpassed 33k, and that the US—the same superpower that’s telling Israel to protect the civilians—has signed off billions in weapons to Israel not even a month ago.

The United Nations on Saturday said Israel had authorized the opening of 20 bakeries in the northern Gaza Strip and and a waterline to supply the area, as part of a list of the country’s “commitments” to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
In addition to expanding border crossing operating hours and capacity, the UN official said Israel has approved the activation of 20 bakeries and the reopening of the Nahal Oz waterline in northern Gaza, which was shut off on October 9, with the outbreak of war.
The statement said the number of trucks allowed to pass through from Jordan will be increased from 25 to at least 50 per day, while an additional 100 trucks per day will be scanned via the Kerem Shalom and Nitzana crossings in the south of the Strip. He noted an additional scanner would be installed at Kerem Shalom “to accelerate the transfer of aid into Gaza.”

The cost of damage to critical infrastructure in Gaza is estimated at around $18.5 billion according to a new report released today by the World Bank and the United Nations, with financial support of the European Union. That is equivalent to 97% of the combined GDP of the West Bank and Gaza in 2022.
The report finds that damage to structures affects every sector of the economy. Housing accounts for 72% of the costs. Public service infrastructure such as water, health and education account for 19%, and damages to commercial and industrial buildings account for 9%. For several sectors, the rate of damage appears to be leveling off as few assets remain intact. An estimated 26 million tons of debris and rubble have been left in the wake of the destruction, an amount that is estimated to take years to remove. The report also looks at the impact on the people of Gaza. More than half the population of Gaza is on the brink of famine and the entire population is experiencing acute food insecurity and malnutrition. Over a million people are without homes and 75% of the population is displaced. Catastrophic cumulative impacts on physical and mental health have hit women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities the hardest, with the youngest children anticipated to be facing life-long consequences to their development. With 84% of health facilities damaged or destroyed, and a lack of electricity and water to operate remaining facilities, the population has minimal access to health care, medicine, or life-saving treatments. The water and sanitation system has nearly collapsed, delivering less than 5% of its previous output, with people dependent on limited water rations for survival. The education system has collapsed, with 100% of children out of school. The report also points to the impact on power networks as well as solar generated systems and the almost total power blackout since the first week of the conflict. With 92% of primary roads destroyed or damaged and the communications infrastructure seriously impaired, the delivery of basic humanitarian aid to people has become very difficult.
