Of Weaknesses and Resistances

There is no such thing as natural 100% natural immunity to types and status ailments (abilities that prevent certain stats from lowering are the exception). So to gain those immunities, pokemon need to train to build up the resistance so it has no effect.

Similarly, pokemon can train to build up resistances to types and status ailments they're particularly vulnerable to (like fairy types building a resistance to steel-type attacks or any not-poison-or-steel type becoming resistant to getting poisoned), but this is usually very harsh training that can cripple or kill a pokemon if done incorrectly. While a near-death experience from an attack could result in a massive boost to a resistance towards that type, it is very unwise to attempt it as a training method.

Eternatus theory

 Eternatus is heavily malnourished. Due to a combination of it being sealed away for ages upon ages and being from ‘space’, most likely a different planet where the flora and fauna is probably drastically different, poor thing probably doesn’t have any idea what is and isn’t edible until SwSh’s Protag feeds it curry.

Give it a few years to properly eat and it might actually fill out and put some flesh on those ‘bones’. Of course, it’s body might just be an amalgamation of crystals/minerals, in which case, if it is malnourished, feeding it regularly would probably just give it a more pleasant disposition and attitude.

HC: Blackthorn Gym’s Lava

And any other gyms that implement lava as part of the aesthetic: it’s actually warm water with a harmless red dye, a thickening solution, and orange lighting underneath. Kats learned this personally when Lance, who was still training at the time, shoved him in after he defeated the Dragon Clan’s Elder, who was the gym leader at the time.

Kats has never really forgiven Lance for the ‘lesson’.

Inspired by @snowboundstories​‘s lady grimmsnarl, Lorna, I doodled a male hatterene, following their headcanon of how genders work.

His hair arm is a beard instead of a hat tassel or ponytail. Not sure if I’m ever gonna do anything with him.

Unlike with other universes, where Giratina was banished as some sort of punishment, this universe’s Giratina was happily maintains and stays in the distortion world of their own accord because they prefer solitude (and they were tired of having to be the peacekeeper whenever Palkia and Dialga had an argument).

The balance brought by the Distortion World is important and very serious business, even if most of the time it involves sitting around and not doing anything but watching inter-dimensional tv for days on end.

More worldbuilding/backstory for Kats!

Back when he was first taking Johto’s Gym challenge, the leaders he faced were mostly different from the current Gym Leaders.

In Violet City, Kats faced off against Falkner’s father, Walker, who used only his skarmory in battle.

In Azelea Town, Kats challenged someone who looks suspiciously like Bugsy (there are rumors that Bugsy is immortal due to an accidental bond with Celebi).

In Goldenrod City, Kats battled Whitney’s aunt, who used a teddiursa and a Kangaskhan instead of a clefairy and miltank. He still got whupped several times until a Breeder gave him Molly.

In Ecruteak City, it was Morty’s grandfather Kats challenged, his team being very similar to his grandson’s.

In Cianwood City, Kats faced a younger, slimmer Chuck, who, afterwords, trained him a little in the proper use of the power of bonds.

In Olivine City, Kats faced Jasmine’s grandfather, who, like with Morty’s grandfather, used the same team as his granddaughter.

In Mahogany Town, Pryce is who Kats challenged, still fairly old and white-haired, but not using a cane yet.

In Blackthorn City, the Master of the Dragon Clan was the one running the gym, with Clair and Lance still in training there at the time.

So… Anyone who plays the modern Johto Gym Leaders… I’d love to be able to reference these battles.

So, since I still haven’t done much here, let’s start with some info on Arceus.

This world’s Arceus has a habit of reincarnating themself every 10,000 years or so to get a better, fresh view of their universe. Normally, when they do this, they scatter their plates to the stars as a motivator to travel and see everything.

Their most recent reincarnation was 7-8 years ago (mid 2012), and, in their previous incarnation, decided they wanted the collecting of their plates to be a trial for mortals for some unknown reason (their current incarnation couldn’t tell you on account of those memories being lost), so they had several temples built all around the world to house their plates, and drew them in from the future when they reincarnated.

So, when Arceus became their current self, instead of flinging their plates across the universe to go on an inter-galactic backpacking tour, they tossed their plates into the past so that there would be time for things to be made and settled and have legends spread. However, their plates are still dormant, and thus their respective temples are still sealed.

In the meantime, Arceus is content to just wander about like this strange short person with unexplainable powers and a high-and-mighty attitude.
