Adrien’s shitty behavior is explained by his shitty upbringing, NOT justified by it. He has every tool available to recognize he is doing wrong and needs to grown up himself

has adrien made questionable decisions? that’s debatable even though i don’t think so since everybody reacts differently to a situation, but does that make him a shitty person/has he made shitty decisions? no, not at all. 

he’s 14/15. he’s a CHILD. kids make questionable/bad decisions all the time. they learn and they grow. these decisions don’t make them shitty. ESPECIALLY children. let’s not act as though adrien has any tools available with the household he lives in. the way his father treats him is a completely separate post that could take thousands of words to dissect. (let’s just say his father is an unredeemable p.o.s) 

adrien/cn has NEVER taken the flirting too far when it comes to ladybug. he has NEVER made her feel uncomfortable. from what we saw in fèlix, if ladybug was ever uncomfortable, she would tell him immediately that he was making her feel that way. any argument against this is invalid as it is PROVEN by canon. people who say adrien/cn sexually harasses ladybug are COMPLETELY wrong and are actually making those of us who have BEEN through sexual harrassment really uncomfortable because that is not how it happens. 

having to do with lila, adrien’s advice for marinette to take the high road was GOOD advice AT THE TIME considering the situation AND from what he knows/what he’s experienced with lila. let’s break this down:

•  first, adrien himself deals with unwanted attention from lila. the way she hangs off him, to the way she’s using him (not to mention whether or not she actually likes him, but THAT’S a whole argument in itself). he knows that she has leverage enough to become a model at his shoot even though she’s not a model. he knows that she has the ability to turn the entire class on marinette (AND him if he says anything). in the picture below she takes a photo with him and kisses his cheek, even going as far to put her arm around him WITHOUT asking. •  here he is looking sad when lila’s lying to the class. YES he knows she’s lying. adrien doesn’t see any gain in exposing her to the class. would they even believe him if he said anything? would it even matter? if he tries to expose her, to what length will she go to get him back? (heroes day part 1) 

•  we rarely ever see ADRIEN angry. yes, we’ve seen chat noir angry, but adrien is pretty good at keeping his civilian side composed. here, we see him angry for the first time, where he’s tired of lila hurting marinette. before this, everything seemed harmless. the things she lies about to their classmates for attention, to teachers, to anyone and everyone she can get her hands on. (ladybug)

•  when lila frames marinette for taking her stuff, adrien tries to defend her. when lila puts the test answers in marinette’s bag, adrien tries to defend her. ADRIEN’S the reason marinette is allowed back into school, because he spoke to lila about it. adrien didn’t know about the threat lila made to marinette. 

•  him telling marinette to take the high road when the lies lila was telling their classmates wasn’t harmful isn’t wrong since they can’t expose her like that without looking like jerks since she’ll 100% pull the “wanting to be liked” card. he was also hoping that maybe talking to her would help her change, but once he realized she wouldn’t, he stepped up. 

•  he cares about marinette SO much that he made a deal with lila to get her back into school, fully knowing that he’d have to spend time with her and/or give in in some way shape or form. he essentially is sacrificing himself FOR marinette and if you think that is anything other than selfless, rethink your thought process.

TD;LR 

adrien agreste isn’t a shitty person nor does he make shitty decisions. could it be argued that some of the things he does are QUESTIONABLE at best? not in my opinion, no, but i can see people at MOST being iffy if that isn’t the way they’d react to a situation. 

at the end of the day, he is an emotionally and physically abused child that is trying his best and learning as he goes. i’ll be damned if you come into my ask box and try to tell me otherwise.
