I note that there has been a recent update to this and Alastor has now, exactly once, called Lucifer by name and he was even mostly lucid when he did it.

I just realized something. In all of your radioapple works, both your series and the stand-alone oneshots, has Alastor ever said Lucifer's name? I genuinely can't remember if he has or not. I suppose I could look for myself, but the series alone is already thirteen installments in, so I figured it save some time to just ask (not that im not gonna reread the whole thing anyway, but i know when I do im gonna forget to keep track of that😋)

Twice, but not to actually call him his name, more to point it out,  "As if I could, you’re Lucifer, it shouldn’t even be possible for me to speak for you.” And once to refer to him in the 3rd person. He does not as a rule call Lucifer his name. Alastor has called him, in no particular order, 'My dear, your father, darling, you brute, daddy, your highness, your majesty, pretty thing, and pathetic.' Lucifer, for his part, almost exclusively calls Alastor by name and for a variety of reasons (cough cough). He did call Alastor 'babe' once and lived to tell about it, so far.

"Anyway!" Lucifer interrupted loudly. He didn't THINK Alastor would directly mention their last deal but he wasn't about to place any bets on it. He had a feeling Alastor would delight in him going bust. "I just noticed you haven't been carrying around your microphone lately."

Alastor’s grin didn’t change.

"Indeed?" Alastor said neutrally. "How honored I am that royalty considers me worthy of attention!"

”See, I think something happened to it.”

"And you're offering to 'help'." He hooked his fingers into quotes, his expression nothing but blandly amused. "How kind, how generous! What would I do without you, your most royal highness!"

“Okay, I like a song and dance as much as anyone, but can we cut the crap this time and just tell me if I can help.”

Alastor’s eyes narrowed. “Very well. What will it cost me this time?"

This guy, for fuck's sake. "Look, I wasn't trying to charge you last time!"

He tapped a sharp fingertip against his teeth consideringly. "Hmm, perhaps you want to fuck me? Is that it?"

Oh, god, yes. "No! That's not…I don't want you prostituting yourself for my help!"

Alastor's smile never shifted but his pupils flashed radio dials and his tone was icy. "I am not prostituting myself. We are bargaining favors, nothing more."

Lucifer thought he could argue the definition of prostitution a little more but that probably wasn't going to end well. "Okay, I don't like exchanging sex for help."

"Then what else would you like to exchange?"

How would Alastor react...hmm, good question, Lucifer having a breakdown of that sort isn't on my list (yet), so let me think. I supposed it would depend on the stage of their relationship. At this point in 'Lucifer and his 'THNVBD', I'm not sure Alastor would react the way we all might want him to. More along the lines of 'what are you doing, you can't do that, stop that!?!' and when that is about as effective as you could expect, some wary back patting and awkward 'there there's' is probably best case scenario. Look, Charlie was only venting about her girlfriend and Alastor immediately took her to his best source for support, 'Rosie, fix this!'. If he can't mock it or make the situation worse or work it to his advantage, he's out of his depth.

Although I am amused to think of his literal deer in the headlights expression if Lucifer latches on to him and cries on his shirt.

Further along in their relationship, I like to think Alastor could push through his discomfort and actually be there for him, both based on his experiences being comforted and clear communication from Lucifer of what he needs. Look, it might be the most sarcastic, smarmy support you ever get, but by God, he is there!

have you ever considered writing a sort of prequel one-shot about the first time alastor and lucifer hooked up?

I have. Someone else pointed out recently that I generally write them already in a relationship rather than their first time. This is partly because I am lazy and mostly I'm not sure I can do it anymore in the context of this series, go back to them (Well, at least Lucifer) not caring about each other at all, verging on hating each other. Ouch, my heart.

Lucifer and his Terrible etc series was never intended to be a series, and if I am honest, I think it shows in the first couple stories. I originally wrote it as a one-shot because I thought it would be cute if Alastor bought Lucifer, his enemy with benefits, a gift without thinking of the implications of it, it wasn't that deep. It has since spiraled out of my control into madness.

The series I am supposed to be writing was from Balancing The Scales, I have a whole outline for it, and that was from a first time. I'll probably get back to it eventually, gotta finish this one first. 😭
