Top astronomical events to look forward to during the month of February ‘22! 🪐
(Or well… What’s left of it!)
As per usual, I forgot to post this list on time… But as one of you told me, better late than never! So here’s is the list of events for what’s left of this month. Enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
February 16th: Luna de Nieve (Snow Moon).
As of planets and spotting them…
Mercury: Best seen in the first half of the month… Morning object! Very dim.
Venus: Also morning object! Rises two hours before sunrise! Seen next to Mars at the end of the month.
Mars: As with Venus, bright morning object. Seen with Venus at the end of the month.
Jupiter: Evening planet. Not very visible during this month.
Saturn: Will line up with the Sun during this month, so not visible basically at all.
Uranus: Not much altitude but it’s possible to spot it.
Neptune: Lost of view this month.
And that’s all for this month… Not much really, sadly. Although, we’ve had some cool Astro-News from NASA and the JWST, so maybe not that sad? Remember to check the SkyView Lite app if you need help spotting planets and constellations + take pictures and tag me if you post them! Enjoy what’s left of this month :)

Top astronomical events to look forward to during January '22! ☄️
Hi, hey, hello! New year, new astronomical events to look forward to, am I right? I haven't done one of these in months, so in return for that I've added quite some new things and fun facts for you all to enjoy :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
January 2nd: New Moon.
January 3rd - 4th: Highest activity of the Quadrantid Meteor Shower.
January 4th: Minimum distance from the Sun (We'll be at 147104811 km, how crazy is that?!)
January 7th: Mercury at greatest Eastern elongation (Best moment to photograph it, right during sunset)
January 18th: Full Moon.
At the beginning of the month, due to the new Moon (which means stars and planets will be easier to spot), you should keep an eye on Mercury, Jupiter (will be very bright!), Saturn, Uranus (not as bright) and Neptune (will lose a lot of visibility throughout the month).
As per usual, I recommend the SkyView Lite app to having an easier time spotting planets and constellations.
Enjoy these events and photograph them, so will I during the month. Stay tuned to see those pictures. Happy stargazing!

Top astronomical events to look forward to in August '21! 🔭
Well... A pretty early guide to the best and top events of the month of August! This month we have so outstanding ones so, here you go! A quick message from me to you: This month I have actually added some information on each event + advice on how to spot them better.
Note: As always, remember that the events listed in this post are those events that you can easily visualise from your balcony, backyard or pretty much anywhere where you can look up at the sky! Events that require to be in an specific zone, or specific tools aren’t included, but a link will be provided for those who’d like to give that list a read too!
Tumblr media
August 2nd: Saturn at opposition –> This means you get to spot Saturn almost entirely! This is due to it being at opposition, and in this case it means that Saturn will be opposite to the Earth and the Sun will be illuminating its (visible) face entirely. It is the most visible it will be/ has been all year! Of course remember that it will be a small, bright dot in the sky (it will indeed look like another bright star).
August 8th: New Moon -> When we get a new Moon, it means it's entirely brightless, which means that it is not reflecting any light. Therefore, it cannot outshine the stars nearby it, and it's the best time to stargaze and spot great constellations in the sky! It is also the best time to do some nighttime photography because the moonlight will not outshine anything.
August 10th: Conjunction of the Moon and Mars –> A conjunction happens when two planets align themselves one after the other. In this case, the Moon and Mars will be doing so; this isn't exactly a good time to spot Mars (or any planet if you are trying to spot it instead of just watching it hide behind the Moon), but you can use this information to spot it days before or after. This applies to all conjunctions of planets!
August 11th: Conjunction of the Moon and Venus –> Same thing as above!
August 12th-13th: Perseids Meteor Shower –> THIS IS SO FANTASTIC (!!!) Has to be top event of the month above any other for that matter. The meteor shower began on July 17th and will seize in August 24th, BUT regardless of it, on these two days it will the most visible to us! You can see it from almost everywhere in the World, although it is less intense in the Southern Hemisphere. The peak is on August 12th at around 2:00UTC, so check out if it will be nighttime for you then! Regardless, I would really recommend staying up on both nights and trying to spot this... At its peak, it will 110 meteors per hour!
August 19th: Conjunction of Mercury and Mars –> Same as above in the past conjunctions I've explained! In this case, you might be able to see Mercury and Mars pretty close to each other when visible at night, so stay tuned for that!
August 20th: Jupiter at opposition –> The explanation is the same as in Saturn's opposition on the 2nd! And once again, it's the most visible it has been/ will be all year!
August 21st: Conjunction of the Moon and Saturn –> Same as all other conjunctions!
August 22nd: Conjunction of the Moon and Jupiter –> Same as all other conjunctions!
August 22nd (yes, same date as above!): Full Moon –> Worst time for sky night photography, yes, but the best time to observe the Moon and admire it!
And that would happen to be all happening this upcoming month. As you can easily tell, it's quite a wonderful one. As I previously mentioned, I have added brief(-ish) descriptions and explanation because they could be quite helpful I think.
As always, I recommend the app SkyView Lite and if you'd like to do some further reading you can click here to read from my main resource (Also recommend the website!). And if you feel a bit lost, click here to read my 5-minute-guide to stargazing!
Have a lovely start to the month + wish you a happy stargazing!

Hi, quick reminder that it has been scientifically proven that you can fall in love in four minutes. Like you could literally fall in love with a person by just interacting with them in any way for no longer than four minutes-
I don’t know about you, but I find it quite amusing, to be honest.

Top astronomical events during January ‘21! ✨🪐☄️
A simplified guide for anyone who’s looking forward to do some stargazing this month.
Tumblr media
I’m mentioning the ones that haven’t already taken place, so from January 7th and on...
• 9th of January: Manhattanhedge at sunrise!
• 11th of January: Conjuction of Venus and the Moon!
• 13th of January: New moon!
• 14th of January: Conjuction of Mercury and the Moon!
• 21st of January: Conjuction of Mars and the Moon!
• 28th of January: Conjuction of Uranus and Mars!
• 24th of January: Mercury will be at its maximum east elongation!
• 28th of January: Full moon!
I would really recommend the app SkyView Lite in order to spot these in the sky! It’s free and it comes in very handy when you’re outside and a bit lost!
Hope this was helpful to some of you! If you want to read more about these events you can click here (this is where I get all of my info from!). If you need anything, let me know! I’ll be posting pictures if I take them so if you’re interested, stay tuned :)

What I love about studying Natural Sciences is that right now I’m just diving deeper into the science of metabolism in my Chemistry class, which is technically diving deeper into the last unit of my Biology class, but just with a Chem twist which makes it like crazy interesting but at the same time crazy confusing and the exam is tomorrow and I am battling my mind because it turns out that NAD+ IS ACTUALLY REDUCING TO NADH AND NOT OXIDISING BUT I USED TO THINK THAT IT WAS AND HOW DID MY BIOLOGY PROFESSOR NOT POINT THAT OUT WHEN I WROTE IT IN THE LITERAL EXAM?! Sorry, I’m panicking and I shouldn’t be doing so in a Tumblr post, but COME ON HOW DID I NOT NOTICE-

Sometimes I wonder how people don’t find ✨everything✨ interesting... I know I am the type of person who feels interest and curiosity towards literally anything, from art to astrophysics, but like, IT IS REALLY INTERESTING?! How do you not find it interesting the way economy impacts culture? Or how sex and gender used to be represented in Greece years ago? Or how we figured that there are black holes in the center of every galaxy in the universe? Or maybe how cells work? Or basically anything? I don’t know if this is just me but I genuinely don’t understand people sometimes.
