Since Yoshi has taken trips to Japan before, what would’ve happened if she ran into Gojo on one of them? Would he even notice how strong she is? Or if he did would he fight her or just leave her alone assuming she’s a foreign sorcerer?

Hm. I think Yoshi would be more wary of any sorcerer she came across on a mission in Japan, and avoid revealing anything about her own strength. She would act like a civilian that just only had enough CE to see curses, “Oh I thought I saw something cool, that’s why I’m alone in this sketchy warehouse/middle of the woods/haunted house.”

Unless Gojo literally caught her in the middle of a fight (which is what happened in gv/bj) he wouldn’t have a clue.

Speaking of that, I’ve been playing around with the idea of Yoshi and Gojo ACTUALLY running into each other as kids and neither of them ever remembering the encounter, because I think that’d be funny.

In my head it’s like—Peak Depression 19 year old Satoru and Delinquent Teen 13 year old Reina getting into an argument in public over nothing. It has nothing to do with sorcery and curses. Yoshi’s ditching school because she woke up with horrible acne and recently learned how to jump between time zones; Gojo is traveling abroad ‘for a mission’ and trying to use up his entire travel stipend on street food.

It works because Yoshi wouldn’t remember what Gojo looked like, she’s bad with faces and is later preoccupied with her own angsty teen drama (she got detention for skipping school). And Gojo would only remember her as a bitchy pre-teen with poorly bleached highlights and no skincare routine. He goes home with gifts for Megumi and Tsumiki to thank them for not being horrible brats (Megumi takes this as a challenge).

The piece of dialogue that’s carved into my mind from gv/bj is when Gojo and Yoshi are ordering train tickets and he was like “Yeah, but I’m built like a Greek god and need the leg room” and Yoshi looks him up and down and is just like “fair enough”

Made me lose my shit the first time I read it.

LOL!! It was hard to decide how she would react to that comment. As much as Yoshi would like to avoid feeding egos, Gojo literally doesn’t fit in a normal seat. In my story, he’s TALL, and not only when it looks cool: he is an inconvenience!! I’ve ridden on trains in Japan—Mr. 200 cm could never.

(To be fair, I have not seen the luxury reserved seats on a Shinkansen, so I don’t know if those seats are roomy enough either, but I would assume they’re still better than regular seats.)

I went on a tangent about Japan and Gojo headcanons under the cut:

Japan has a fairly homogenous society, and that influences everything within the country. The clothing sizes available in stores; the colors in their make up products; the regulations around architecture and construction work—all of it is created with the average Japanese person in mind, and sometimes (not always!) that means excluding people that exist outside the average. And Gojo is not the average Japanese person.

Gojo would duck through almost every doorway, everywhere he goes. He would only wear custom-fitted clothes because he doesn’t fit into anything off the rack.

While living in the dorms at school, he would sleep diagonally on his bed. (So would Geto, tbh.) I think Gojo would wholly embrace Western-style not only to escape the traditional ways of his family, but for practical things like a raised bed frame with an extra large mattress, and foreign brands with larger shoe sizes and clothing cuts that look better on him.

He gets chauffeured everywhere in a luxury sedan because the backseat has legroom, and when he does drive, no one can comfortably sit behind the driver’s seat because it’s pushed all the way back.

He probably has many reasons for avoiding paperwork and filing at the school, but part of the reason is because the desks are too low and the office chairs don’t adjust enough for him to sit down properly. As a student he’s splayed out in his seat in class, legs sticking out, because it’s just not comfortable otherwise.

Anyway, yeah. Man’s too damn tall.

for some reason certain pieces of dialogue from movies and shows are carved into my mind for good. sometimes i don’t even remember the context or character, just the emotion and intonation of the line. like, this one line from game of thrones is in my head, it’s just a horrified, half-whispered, “you mutilated him,” spoken by… uh, that rose princess lady that joffrey married. she’s not important, but the horror and shock in the way she delivered that line? damn. i got chills. i kinda built a whole world and character around that feeling, it’s why yoshi’s power comes from the violence and sadism of an insane cult that, you guessed it, mutilates its people. i just think about the despairing realization of that one lady from game of thrones, and there ya go, that’s a hell of a backstory.

more good lines that i remember!! bruce banner’s quiet little “i’m always angry” from the avengers. yeah. good shit. the little boy from song of the sea trying to remember the words to his mom’s song, and then “ah! i forget!” whoever did the voice for that was so frickin cute i wanna melt.

Honestly I think yoshi is probably the best oc I’ve ever encountered, I love how she messes around with the kids AND the adults who don’t know what the fuck she’s on about; she’s just a silly little girl with a silly humor who could kill you in very painful variant ways… I am indeed in love

Thank you!! I’m pretty satisfied with her characterization even if she’s crazy overpowered. At some point over the (many) years that I’ve been making stories and coming up with OCs, I said to myself—why NOT make my character the coolest person in the room?? Who’s gonna stop me?? Yeah, Yoshi is OP, but she’s unpredictable and secretive enough to keep things interesting.

I understand that this may be a rather difficult and complicated question to answer, but… what’s your fav color?

Right now, it’s ultramarine or cobalt blue! I paint in watercolor and I’m always reaching for one of those two colors. Generally speaking, I like shades of blue and green.
