In order to make my life a bit more simple, I’ve moved Autumn and the rest of the Wolf Creek muses over here. So come follow me. I’ve missed my little slasher queen.

Vanessa unwrapped her arms from her girlfriend’s torso, choosing instead to hold her hand as she leaned up against the lockers. “Yeah, kinda.” She didn’t talk to the man much, or at all, really. All Vanessa said was a friendly ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’ as she gave Autumn her medication, but that was it. “What about him?”
Tumblr media
“I checked some of mom’s old yearbooks and I can’t find anyone with that name. Not in her year or any other year.” Wolf Creek was a small town -- the kind of place where everyone knew everyone else. So the fact that she couldn’t find any mention of a Henry Jones. It was more than a little suspicious. “He gave me a fake name. Why?”

Eddie groaned. How was he supposed to put this? He always tried his best to be honest with Autumn, but he had to be careful not to reveal the entire truth.
“She fell out of love with me.” He landed on. “You know…we were both so young. Only just graduating high school, and our lives were going in different directions. We grew apart, and no matter what I tried, or how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop it. Okay?”
Tumblr media
“Yeah...” She could tell this was a difficult conversation for her dad, something he’d rather not talk about. But it was hard for her too. Hard for her to understand why her mother hadn’t wanted her. Hadn’t wanted a life with either of them. “Do you think she ever thinks about us? About me? Do you think she regrets it all?”

El gave Autumn a soft smile, breathing out a quiet laugh. “Badass.” She whispered. Eleven shook her head and shrugged, signifying that no, her father didn’t very much approve of her swearing, but he was not exactly one to lecture her over it. Considering the things she overhears Jim saying on a daily basis, one or two swear words in her already limited vocabulary were the least of his worries.
Tumblr media
Still. Whether Jim swore or not, Autumn still would rather be seen as a good influence rather than a bad one. And there was already the problem of the scar. “So what are we going to tell your dad about that one, hmmm? Playground accident?” After all, those metal slides could be deadly.

Seeing the red head up in front of her with her back facing away, Vanessa decided to take this perfect opportunity to sneak up behind her. Moving as swiftly and silently as she could, she wrapped her arms around Autumn’s middle. “Boo!” She laughed, kissing her cheek. “Where’ve you been all day? Didn’t even see you at lunch.” In Autumn’s case, it meant she was most likely hidden in a classroom, losing herself in some new project, which always piqued Vanessa’s interest.
Tumblr media
Even before the ‘Boo’ came, Autumn was smiling. She began smiling at the first hint of her girlfriends’ arms around her middle. It was unusual for the two of them to go this long without seeing one another, but well...some weird things had happened over the past few days and they had Autumn kind of distracted.
“Do you remember the guy who came to the Meet and Greet? The one who said he knew my mom and Aunt Miranda?”

“If it got to the dozens, one, you have a problem, and two, I would make you help me. No way I’m pushing a bunch of carts by myself.” He teased. “Oh, cool. That sounds– wait… pumpkin cannons? What, do they just stuff a catapult full of pumpkins and try and take out as many little kids as they can? Is this another rich person thing, or just another weird Wolf Creek in general thing?”
Tumblr media
“Yeah yeah yeah.” Smiling, she shook her head. She didn’t see anything wrong with decorating with dozens of pumpkins. It was festive!
“I wouldn’t say it’s just a Wolf Creek thing...a lot of the towns around here do one. But it’s definitely a local thing. It’s basically an air cannon that you load with pumpkins and launch at targets out in a field. Cars, straw creations, stuff like that.”

“Some of ‘em, yeah. A couple are labelled ‘math’ or ‘history’, but some of ‘em don’t have anything written on the front.” A promising lead. And depending on the type of student this boy was, the school notebooks could be equally helpful if there were any doodles or random notes written in the margins. Jack had done that countless times when he was bored. It may not have been important, but once you’ve been murdered, every little thing about your life mattered.
Tumblr media
Mystery notebooks. A very promising lead, indeed. Coming over to where Jack had been going through things, she picked up on the unlabeled notebooks and began flipping through it. At first, it looked like it might be blank. A school notebook he hadn’t gotten to yet. But about halfway in...
“Look at this.” About halfway in the markings started. Lists of names. Numbers. Drawings of what looked like...equipment. All in red and black. “This is weird, right?”

Nodding with that assurance, Eddie continued scrubbing up and down his daughter’s skin. Her therapist’s blood stained everything. Autumn’s skin, clothing, nearly every surface across the office, and now, the bathroom sink. It would take forever to clean, and to dispose of the body, but Eddie knew what he was doing. He was not going to allow his little girl to be shipped away like he was. Everything would be fine.
Tumblr media
“Don’t worry. I know how to fix this. We’re going to finish cleaning you up here, and then I’ll take you to a motel so you can shower and wash your clothes. I have a hat and a jacket to cover what you have on now, so no one will see. You’re going to stay there, and I’m coming back here to clean the office. They won’t find your DNA, your prints, security footage, nothing.” That was what Daddies did. Make sure their little girls were safe. Eddie wasn’t exactly sure what he was going to do right now to pin the blame on someone else, but he would figure it out. He always did.
A part of him wanted to ask what happened. Why the therapist deserved to be murdered (because if his sweet little Autumn killed them, they obviously deserved it), but figured Autumn would tell him on her own time.
She would. After the shock had worn off and she had time to process the fact that after all this time she had finally done it. Finally taken things into her own hands and said no more. No longer would she play their games. No longer would she sit and listen while they told her she was sick. Wrong. She wasn’t wrong. What she felt wasn’t wrong. She just knew the world would be better off without some people.
Like her therapist.
Tumblr media
Letting herself be directed, Autumn held out her arms as her father finished cleaning the blood off of them. Her arms, her face...anything easily cleaned without a shower. Then she watched as he cleaned as much of the office as he could before ushering them out. Thankfully Autumn was the last appointment of the day. There’d be nobody coming in after her.
Which would give them time. Time to get to the motel, to get her settled. Time for Eddie to get back to the office and dispose of everything.
The idea of a shower sounded amazing right now.

“Still pretty?”
Tumblr media
Examining the small scar on the other girl’s cheek, Autumn nodded. “Definitely. And now you’re not only pretty...but you’re bad ass too. Only, don’t tell your dad I said bad ass. Unless he allows you to swear....” For the redhead liked being able to watch El. And she’d hate for Jim to start thinking of her as a bad influence.

//Happy Halloween, y’all. It’s been one crazy night here between the storms and my nephew coming over and a little baby snake getting into our house that we had to usher back outside all NOPE. NOT FOR YOU LITTLE SNAKE. It has not been a good night for my anxieties.
But I am here now and going to try and get stuff done.

“You know, you’re either gonna become a detective one day, or get arrested before you can.” Breaking and entering, interfering with a police investigation, theft, and who knows what other crimes they have committed at this point. Jack wanted to stop, but what could he do now? They were in too deep.
Rifling through the drawers by his bedside table, he found a few loose papers, knick-knacks, and journals. “Found some notebooks. Wanna look through these?”
Tumblr media
At Jack’s comment, Autumn couldn’t help but smirk. She was good at the whole ‘girl detective’ thing, though she had never really considered doing it professionally. Cop wasn’t something she ever saw when she envisioned her future. She was definitely more the ‘best selling author who just happened to continually stumble across dead bodies’ type.
And she knew how not to get caught. As evidenced by their list of crimes thus far. None of which they had gotten caught for.
“Notebooks? Like for school or...”

Fuck. Eddie knew that one day this would come back to bite him in the ass, but after living in denial for so long, he thought it never would. “Okay, yes. Your mom is still in Wolf Creek. I told her to run away with me, and she wouldn’t.”
Tumblr media
“Why not?” They had never talked much about why her father ended up leaving Wolf Creek. Autumn just assumed it was because he had outgrown small town life -- a conclusion not hard to come to seeing as all their residences after that had been larger cities. Places easy to get lost in.
Something else she had never questioned. A lot of people moved around. A lot of parents had jobs that demanded it.

“I was keepin’ look-out, but not much I can do without my bow or anything else!” Autumn insisted on coming unarmed, which was absolutely insane in Luka’s opinion, for this exact reason.
Crouching down to avoid being seen, Luka kept his mouth shut, even holding his breath so no one could hear him. After the footsteps receded and a few long minutes have passed, he yanked Autumn up by the arm and gave her a harsh glare. “You get us caught again, I’m outta here.” No he wasn’t. He may have been running from the law, but he would never leave anyone so helpless behind.
Tumblr media
Of course she insisted on coming unarmed; why the hell would they be armed? The building was abandoned...possibly haunted, but even if it was haunted, she highly doubted that weapons would work against said ghost.
“I’m not going to get us caught. That was one time!” And even then, it hadn’t really been her fault. It wasn’t like she had been loud -- they had just underestimated how loud the door would be closing behind them. A mistake she has never made again.
“Once they leave, we’ll head down to the factory floor. That’s where the accident supposedly took place.”

“Oh, yeah, it’s a great reason.” He smiled. “An old friend of mine had a little girl, so I just had to come visit.” Not a lie, but the way he phrased his words diverted away from the actual truth. “But any reason is a good reason to come home. I’ve been wanting to come back for a while, but I’ve just never been able to.” Because he was locked up and treated like an animal, but his nonchalant demeanor suggested something as basic as being caught up at work.
The mention of Charlotte almost had Eddie dropping his act and confessing everything to Autumn, but he needed to be careful. He would wait until he could get the two of them alone in a room with him, so there would be no witnesses that could turn him in when they discovered the Bandage Man was alive and in their midst once again.
“I do. We went to high school together, but I doubt she’s ever mentioned me. Henry Jones.” True, because Henry Jones didn’t exist. Eddie could have used his alias ‘David Wilson’, but the hospital staff knew that name and would come pick him up if he was reported for anything. He was always one step ahead. “Yeah… I kind of remember Miranda… we never talked much, though.” He never really liked her. If it weren’t for Charlotte that final night, Eddie would have delighted in watching the life drain from her eyes.
Watching as another girl around Autumn’s age came up to her, whispering in her ear and handing her some sort of medication, Eddie clenched his jaw. They were trying to suppress Autumn’s true nature and control her, just as they were doing to him. Little did they know, though, that no amount of medication could ever really work, or delay the inevitable. Postpone it, perhaps, but at the end of the day, it was to make others feel a peace of mind rather than the patient.
It was time to change the subject. Before he lashed out… “Quite a turnout you got here. I don’t know how long I’ll be staying, but I’d definitely vote for you if I’m still around for the festival.”
Tumblr media
While her medication might have been a trigger point for Eddie, Autumn barely noticed these days. That was how long she had been taking them.
She more noticed what happened when she didn’t take them; or when she did something like mix them with too much alcohol. That was when the problems started. And things like car fires occurred.
She tried not to think about those times.
Quickly swallowing the pills, she thanked her girlfriend with a kiss to her cheek before turning her attention back to Eddie. “Henry Jones.” She repeated the name as if committing it to memory. “She’s gonna be thrilled to see you. You need to make sure to hunt her down and catch up.” She saw her mother and Miranda when their high school friends came back to town. It was hard sometimes, but more often than not they were excited to see them. “And I really hope you’ll be in town through the festival...and not just because I’d love your vote.”
The festival was magical. Or at least it was to Autumn. It was, hands down, her favorite of the town celebrations. “If you are going to be around, there are sign ups for the pumpkin carving contest over at the market and the school’s haunted house is always looking for volunteers. I’m sure they’d love to have an alumni on board.”

“No, I’m just saying…” He shrugged. “Sometimes I forget you’re not a townie ‘cause you’re actually cool, but then you say stuff like ‘clandestine’ and… I dunno, it’s just funny to me.”
“Maybe…” It wasn’t too far-fetched for Jack to believe. He had seen enough horror movies in his life to know that there were some sick, twisted people out there, and a possible female victim could have easily been moved to a secondary location.
“I guess, but wouldn’t that just get us in trouble? We’re not exactly supposed to be here, and if we tell the cops we were just snooping through a crime scene that’s not really gonna go well for us.” He reminded. “And do you even have gloves or anything to pick it up? If they swab it for prints they’ll find ours on there and I’m not being charged with murder.” Murdering someone once was more than enough for Jack, he was not going to be arrested for one he didn’t even commit.
Looking a little closer at the fiber, he frowned. “The serial killer all those years ago was called the Bandage Killer or something, right? Was it because he left bandages behind, or…” Because it might have been hard to tell since it was such a small piece of fabric, covered in dirt and who-knows what else, but it was a theory. “And it’s the anniversary? What if there’s a copycat?”
Tumblr media
“I think there are times my mom would prefer to be a townie. To not have all the pressure her parents put on her.” Even now they were constantly in their lives -- giving opinions and ‘helpful’ suggestions. Whether Charlotte wanted them or not.
But whether or not her life would be better without the legacy of ‘the founders’ was a question for another time. Right now there was a dead body to deal with and if they wanted to prevent more from popping up then they needed to figure out what happened to him and fast.
“Who said anything about going to the cops?” Did he really think she was going to march into the sheriff’s station and admit they were snooping around a crime scene? Please. “Between the school’s chem lab and the internet, I’m pretty sure we can figure out what kind of material this is.” And whether or not it was a bandage. Because Jack was right -- the murderer back then had been called the bandage man and they were coming up on an anniversary. “And as far as picking it up...” She pulled her scrunchie out of her hair and used that to get a hold of the bracelet. There. No fingerprints.
“Let’s get this back to school.” By now the building should be empty, letting them have the lab to themselves.
