Hi everyone! It's been a while. My life has been kind of crazy lately. Kindled by Foxfire is still in progress, though it is a very slow progress.
That being said, I did start working on another project, The Cursed Dragonmaster. I am doing it a little differently, and have published the first episode on Kindle Vella. I plan on trying to update every week. If you're interested, check it out. Leave a thumbs up if you enjoy it. Let me know what you think!

This is a very important reminder that I really needed.
First drafts are SUPPOSED to suck
IMPORTANT Reminder that it’s totally okay to hate that first draft with a passion.
The first draft is for making it exist. That’s all. You can edit the shit out of it later, and you’ll need to if you ever want to do your story justice, but not on the first dang draft.
STOP letting that voice inside win and make you feel bad about your writing! It’s the first draft.
Fix it later.
Try to just have fun. Make it exist and make it as ugly as it comes out. Just make sure there’s something to edit later. You can’t edit a blank page, remember.
Think process, not product.

I enjoy seeing these and I wouldn't mind doing some, I'm just really bad at them. I do them in my head, does that count? For real though I will do them eventually. Just have a lot of anxiety and worry that my stuff won't be near as interesting as everyone else's.
Hey, can I tag you in writeblr tags?
If you like doing word find tags, last line tags etc and are happy to be tagged in those kinds of games when I take part in them, please interact with this post (like, comment, or reblog, whatever floats you boat).
You are forever under absolutely no obligation to do the things if I tag you and I have no expectations ever. I'm just putting this out there because I tend to tag the same people all the time, and I'd like to know if there are more of you who are up for writeblr tag goodness so I can include you 💜

Hello! I write all kinds of fantasy. Currently working on a high fantasy that I intended to be rather dark but that pesky hope keeps sneaking in somehow
Looking for writeblrs
Hello, writing community!
I'm looking for more writeblrs to follow and interact with. So give this a reblog if you write fantasy (high, low, dark, etc) or horror. Especially horror. Bonus points if it's gothic. Signal boosts are greatly appreciated :)
I follow from @equusgirl

Hi everyone. Unfortunately my book I have been working on, that I've been so excited to share, is going to be postponed for a bit. My husband was diagnosed with Covid and I'm starting to show symptoms now too. I am exhausted and just trying to take care of him and myself.
I have so many wonderful ideas for my book and it breaks my heart not to write every day but right now I just don't have the energy.

Ugh so true
writing culture is planning out a plot, beginning to write it, getting pretty far, posting a bit of it and then getting really self-conscious and replanning it.

This is it. The point where my book dies. A name. One of the characters in my book has just gone by Grandfather. And it's time for him to get an actual name. I have spent hours looking up different words in other languages, baby names, fantasy name generators, and just mishmashing words together. This character is SO important to me and his name his to be PERFECT.
TL;DR: I can't write anymore until this character has the perfect name, which I don't think exists.

My sketch of the human city in my book. I'm terrible at drawing but I had this idea of a cog shaped city for my steampunk style area, and I had to attempt. Actually kind of proud.

Two beings sat side by side, staring up at the stars. One wore the years on her face, deep canyons carving her life out for all to see. The other, older than her by countless centuries, looked to be no older than thirty, but his eyes revealed an existence supporting the weight of not just one world, but many. His quiet voice echoed through the trees, all other sounds ceasing.
"It's almost time old friend."

Good evening!! I have a few questions about my book I'm going to answer, and then I will post another teaser!
- What genre of story are you writing? It it a romance, fantasy, does it follow one genre type more than another?
It is mainly a fantasy story, or perhaps gaslamp fantasy. There are some steampunk elements thrown in, and it gets a little darker at times than is usually expected of a regular fantasy. There will be romance but it is not the key aspect by any means.
- What kind of world are you trying to build? Peaceful, at war, what kind of social system exists in your story?
This is one of my favorite aspects of my book actually. It is a study of contrasts. Some societies are living in an almost idyllic state, while others are desperate and grim. One social system values family and community while another literally sells their children.
- Finally, what inspired you to get started with writing this story specifically?
The idea for this book came from a dream, and I wrote it down in my dream book ideas along side countless others that never became anything. But this one just wouldn't leave me alone, and I told my husband about it. He thought the idea was fantastic and started asking questions, making me explore and build this world, and so Kindled by Foxfire was born!
Thank you for reading! If there is anything else you'd like to know feel free to ask! Teaser later tonight! My sleep schedule is weird I'm sorry!

Just a thank you for all the kind words. They have made my day. Will post another teaser from my book later today. Think fantasy and magic plus steampunk machines.
If anyone has anything they'd like to know about leave a comment! I would love to answer some!

I am currently working on my first book I intend to publish. I have written many over the last fifteen years, or at least the start of them, only to have them dissappear into the void of my recycling bin when I reread them.
Not this one. I have shrouded Kindled by Foxfire in plot armor (aka friends and family). I want to share my journey here, pick up some tips, and hopefully get some people excited about my book.
To that end, I will be sharing teasers from the book as well as my own thoughts on this journey. Journey before destination right?
I hope you will join me. Thank you for reading!

Nimble fingers poked and prodded at the machine's inner workings, laid bare beneath the intense eyes of a young inventor. As he fitted the glowing blue orb into its housing the device hummed to life, and the apprentice artificer sat back with a satisfied smile to admire his work.

As a budding author and world builder, I have found this journey to be one of self discovery and revelations. I have always heard authors speak of characters taking on a life of their own but never experienced it myself.
Writing a scene only to go back and read it to find your characters doing something completely unexpected is a true delight.
