I want to write a book called “your character dies in the woods” that details all the pitfalls and dangers of being out on the road & in the wild for people without outdoors/wilderness experience bc I cannot keep reading narratives brush over life threatening conditions like nothing is happening.

I just read a book by one of my favorite authors whose plots are essentially airtight, but the MC was walking on a country road on a cold winter night and she was knocked down and fell into a drainage ditch covered in ice, broke through and got covered in icy mud and water.

Then she had a “miserable” 3 more miles to walk to the inn.

Babes she would not MAKE it to that inn.

Sometimes I think about the ap bio kids after they graduate and wonder if, amidst recounting any hs memories, they're gonna be like "oh yeah, we had this one bonkers ass teacher we used to help get revenge on the people who 'wronged him' and he'd sometimes do the same for us, and sometimes he'd pick on us. We spent a weird amount of time w him after school, but not in a weird way, but more in a 'lets go piss off a neighbor or support another student' kind of way. It's hard to explain. Once, we stole a statue from a church for him, and another time we all went to support our classmate who wanted to be a wrestler and he jumped in the ring to defend said classmate. Weird shit. Anyway, what was high school like for you?" And then their poor new college friends are gonna be like "I think you were in a cult" ajvjshfjsjgjkf

#enjoying a revisit to the ap bio tag upon rewatching and y’know what now that I’m 5 years out of high school #we did have a teacher like Jack #though believe it or not he taught philosophy lol #ofc this is the real world and he wasn’t an ex Harvard prof so he did have to teach us #but there was a lot if ‘hypothetical revenge plots’ #a lot of electing a student to bring up an issue and resolving it for them as a class #a lot of person stories grievous injuries (99% him) a few counts of us stalking him to find out what he did in his breaks #he’d assign us social experiments to act out in our other classss #and when I tell people about it they’re kind of shocked and I’m like ‘yeah he was kind of crazy. he’s also the reason I’m studying to #become a philosophy teacher’
