Elder Geek (mind the tentacles) occasional Kitsune and generally Mint/ Talk to me in French, English & Japanese/ she draws, she beads and she's currently in a fimo hole / fell into Wangxian 2 years ago and never recovered/ fell into Horizon in 2017 and never recovered either (h0riz0nstuff.tumblr.com/) but I do play other games
Absolutely my experience
I've noticed CQL fic usually have The Untamed first in the "fandom" tag list but it's not 100% accurate
and a few times fic writers have noted explicitly that their fic is CQL canon in the opening notes and it's… just… not. like, blatantly. i'm not talking just a few details
*sigh*
*gently closes yet another fic tagged with 'the untamed' that is very clearly novel canon*
NOT EVEN FRANKENCANON guys please tags have meanings
Have you come across 90s coined expression "ça le fait" yet ? xD
I leave France for ONE YEAR and everybody is using this when I come back and I'm just… ???
Brutal xD
So I've been learning French for a while and 'faire' is actually an incredible word. Like what a fucking breakthrough in economy of language.
Faire is a verb that is usually translated into English as "to do/to make," but it covers way more actions than that, which is very confusing for new speakers. because (I have realized) that's not really what faire means.
Faire is actually a word that just gestures vaguely in the direction of the object of the sentence and goes "you know." "Je fais du velo." "Je fais du courses." "Je fais mes valises." I'm biking. I go grocery shopping. I'm packing my bags. You're just sort of pointing at a bike and going "you know, the obvious thing you'd do with it."
English: "You mean RIDE it??"
French: "Sure whatever."
Like idk I just really enjoy the concept of a catch-all verb that you can just slap onto almost anything because who fucking gives a shit, you get the idea. There's a bike. what do you think I'm going to do with it.
My quest for cute birbs continues.
… and then I frightened myself yesterday night, when i was reading in dark mode on my laptop and I saw the birb inverted XD
… way more ominous xD
State of Kinou's Crochet Blanket n°2 : ongoing
It will be 4 big C2C (40x40) squares surrounded/separated by a border of little C2C (8x8) little squares.
Or maybe a border with more little squares, I dunno, I need to see how much yarn I'll have left.
All hemmed by a beige (I thought white would be too stark) border.
My hemming is rustic but I don't care >.>
I'm kinda half done, I still have about 25 little squares to make and finish hemming everything and then assemble it.
I've never done this ^^;
Anyway.
It will work out.
As usual my phone is making the reds a bit too saturated, but heh.
The time it's taking me to make this gives me a renewed respect for people who make all that stuff by hand. It's not like I didn't know, but still.
I made this chart for an 80-slide presentation explaining all of the main characters of CQL using only their connection to Jin Ling. I was so proud of this chart I figured someone on here might like it.
I finished my crochet blanket, finally !
I had a hiatus because I was waiting for a second batch of yarn to arrive, but finally, IT'S DONE.
AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
*munches on blanket*
*pets blanket*
Like, for real, look away, I'm petting my blanket right now
It ended up being slightly rectangular instead of square because I wanted to finish the yarn. Also ended up having a bit more colors than initially anticipated, but that's fine.
I used 20 balls of Ilkadim Yarnart Harmony A1, plus the orange/red/blue parts of the same wool in A2 (I think that would be 16 balls, but only like half of the yarn) mostly. I added a few strands of yarn from the same brand in other orange/green here and there.
This yarn is from Germany, as far as I can tell, so it might very well not be available easily outside of the EU.
The yarn is 60% wool 40% acrylic. The thread can vary wildly in size (but that's something I like in this case). It tends to stick and be a bit difficult when you have to undo stitches. Still, I love the colors.
It's not super expensive, but I used a lot of it so it adds up
I crocheted it with a 8mm hook.
I'm crocheting a blanket, and I thought I had made it way smaller than it actually is ^^;
It's the size of my bed so 1m90 more or less. It's going to be square so I'll go on until it reaches peak squaritude and I can stop. I think i'm about one quarter done.
I'm using two different variegated yarns, but the one with the orange colors has colors that don't go well with the rest so i've been unspooling and snipping and tying together stuff, and I'll have a lot of stuff to tuck in but I think it does look nice, and I really enjoy the randomness of combinations I get as I progress.
It's a bit irregular but I embrace my relative noobiness.
