In no particular order… I will probably just keep having IG but some breeds I am interested in are;

1. All the sighthounds and sighthound-ish dogs. All of them.

2. Poodles in all sizes… I just think they’re neat and after my grooming training it would be fun to just have one to do different clips on.

3. Cesky Terrier. I honestly say this entirely because the single one I’ve met was just so charming.

4. Dalmatian. After dog sitting a breeders ones for years I will always have a soft spot for these guys.

5. Some kind of gundog maybe?? Idk no breed jumps out at me the same

Dogblr, what are the top 5 breeds you are currently most interested in owning? Doesn’t have to be in any particular order! I’ll go first:

1.) Boykin Spaniel

I was curious about inter-variety breeding at home so went looking. The NZ KC allows interbred collies and I hope they keep that when it comes up for review again in 2029. They only just allowed the interbreeding of Chihuahua coats in 2022 so who knows. We recognize long coat GSDs as a breed and they can be interbred with short coat ones. Again this comes up for review in 2029. The Belgian Sheps are also allowed to be interbred (specific variety pairings only tho) as are Long and Short coated Weimaraners with review in 2031 for the latter. Honestly would prefer these coat splits were just one breed with variety allowed. I would make Norfolk and Norwich Terriers one breed again too for example. I really hope kennel clubs never make a split in Italian greyhounds for euro type vs countries that allow white, because they could if they really wanted to, though I would hope nobody in the breed would support that. That genetic study of the breed showed that at least at the time two populations (euro vs american) were genetically distinct enough to be different breeds. Having that genetic diversity available is nice and I've seen more breeders embracing mixing lines. At the same time FCI could chill and change their breed standard to allow white since it historically was in the breed from the start and it not being allowed literally comes down to one breeder who didnt like white and thought it was from whippets.

also fci=/=tkc and while tkc is square and conservative in many ways, fci member clubs may be less. so when commenters say things like smooth and rough collies used to be interbred but aren't anymore, this is true for the UK but not necessarily for neighbouring clubs - which deals with the same stock.
