It is… so refreshing to see a father and husband that actually does what he is supposed to do in a healthy relationship with his wife, where there is actual co-parenting without leaving to the wife the whole burden of taking care of everything in the household. (it should be the norm in every relationship but alas…) It really makes you understand that Usuyama really cares for his family and wants to see his wife happy and that’s why he helps her pursuing her dream to become a successful author. Vice versa, she wants to see her husband happy and encourages him to play badminton again.
Nobody is talking about Salaryman’s Club, and I understand it’s not your typical sport anime, and probably it was just unlucky to air right now (due to the presence of real big names like Aot and KnY that obviously steal the attention), but it is really nice, I would say almost a “feel good” type of anime, surely intended for a more mature target because it deals with life after school, and while the protagonist is really young (just turned 20 and so became of age, by Japanese law), there are characters with different ages and/or in different stages of life. I’m not going to say we’ve never seen anything like that, it’s just it’s not so common to have a sport anime dealing with these themes, in a realistic but chill way.
