Been a while since I knit a sock off a pattern but I liked the atypical gusset of these Paper Moon Socks.
Alas, I made a lot of progress on the train where I didn't get a chance to put the sock on.
Despite me hitting gauge exactly, and picking the smallest size, it's too big 😅 Going to rip back and start the gusset at the pink marker now. Ideally I should maybe start over at a smaller circumference as well but I don't wanna.
Piecing the next beauty has begun! This is a commission for @anastasiaoftheironwood.
The fabric is The Sun, the Moon, and the Stars by Jason Yenter for In The Beginning fabrics. The pattern is my first curvy log cabin, and will be darks and lights, all neutrals, and no colors will be added.
Guess-stimate for piecing is hard to say because this log cabin technique is new to me. I did, however, buy thr template specifically designed for this. Work smarter, not harder.
here lies my accomplishment for the day, i finished this shawl about two months ago and i just blocked it with pins and wires (there may have been tears shed in the process) possibly my wackiest blocking set up yet with floating foam square islands being held down by the various items found in my mother’s house including the stinkiest candle in the world and a cross given to my mother by the mother of an irish friar (not pictured here, a giant statue of st joseph because of course) anyway this is my long and rambling way of saying i’m so glad that this is FINALLY finished and look how pretty she is!!!
Good news, fellow artists! Nightshade has finally been released by the UChicago team! If you aren't aware of what Nightshade is, it's a tool that helps poison AI datasets so that the model "sees" something different from what an image actually depicts. It's the same team that released Glaze, which helps protect art against style mimicry (aka those finetuned models that try to rip off a specific artist).
As they show in their paper, even a hundred poisoned concepts make a huge difference.
(Reminder that glazing your art is more important than nighshading it, as they mention in their tweets above, so when you're uploading your art, try to glaze it at the very least.)
A life sized crochet Sinosauropteryx prima complete with pico-feathering in as scientifically-accurate of a pattern and color as I possibly could. I had to read some literature to get it right but I think this is one of the best projects I've ever made. What do I name her? 2-L 7Up bottle for scale
I've been working on her since September. The entire base was crocheted in this mustard I had a million skeins of. She didn't even use up one
I love her so much she's gonna sit above my TV in the living room for now until we move and I can have a Designated Spot for her <3
Her mouth can open and close and I purposefully put her in a laying-down position so that she can lay on surfaces well. 4 toes on each foot and 3 fingers on each hand :)
Please say rest in peace to this beautiful half of the winter stardew valley sock. You were created with love but you were created by an idiot who now can't fit you over her heel.
I'm very intimidated by the thought of restarting because it took forever and I'm not sure how to do it better. I made gauge and the floats look okay to me but they're not even close to loose enough.
i finished it!! she's double knit. this is the first fully my own pattern i've made 🔪
it's easier to write a bunch of patterns than it is to actually make them but i think i'd have to make them if i were to post them so i could see if they were good or not lol
next i've got 4 cushions that are 70cm diameter that need covers. that's a lot of real estate for my silly little pictures!! we'll see if it takes me 5 years to finish all that 🧶
Step One: Follow Totally Stitchcraft's Skull Tutorial to make the center of the flower. (The color is Coffee)
Step Two: Round off the Skull. Starting in the first stitch directly to the right of the mouth. (The color is Cafe Latte)
Standing DCx1, HDCx2, SCx15, HDCx2, DCx1, SCx3
Slip Stitch into first DC to complete (24 stitches total)
You can learn how to do a Standing Double Crochet in Totally Stitchcraft's Skull Tutorial around 7:12-7:32
Step Three: Starting from the Slip Stitch, follow Hooked by Robin's Sunflower Tutorial starting at 5:04 with the Puffed Stitch Row, and follow all the way through the Petal Row. (NOTE: I made my petals using Treble Crochet in place of the Double Crochet used in HbR’s original pattern)
There should be 24 Puff Stitches and 24 Petals in total. (Switching from Cafe Latte to Saffron)
Step Four: Divide the petals into four sections of 6 petals. 6 on the top (centered with the skull), 6 on either side, and 6 on the bottom. (Although there is nothing stopping you from making the skull diagonal, tbh)
Starting in the space between petals, to the right of the first in the row of six petals. (The color is now Jade)
1st Space: Ch 4 and TCx2, 2nd: DCx3, 3rd: HDCx3, 4th: SCx3, 5th: HDCx3 6th: DCx3, 7th: TCx3 (This completes the first side of the square, 21 stitches in total.)
Turn the Corner: Chain x3 and TCx3 in the same space as the previous TCx3
Repeat until all 4 sides are complete, Slip Stitch to join the fourth corner. (21 stitches on each side)
Step Five: Complete the final border:
Starting in the Slip Stitch, Chain 2, and DC until you reach the Chain 3 Corner. (21 DC total)
Turn the Corner: (In the CH3 space) DCx2, CHx2, DCx2
Repeat until all 4 sides are complete, Slip Stitch to join the fourth corner. (25 DC on each side.)
PS: Weave your tails every time you switch colors, I promise it makes your life easier!
