Kokichi had come over before Shuichi arrived home, only a picture of his lockpicks and the promise of a “surprise” sent to Shuichi as warning. 𝐇𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐚 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞. When he turned and saw who it was, he was surprised to see a young girl. Right, Shuichi had mentioned her. Between her expression and her ugly words, it definitely wasn’t the greeting he would have hoped for.
“Kotoko, right?” he asked with a simple tilt of his head. “𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐒𝐡𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐢 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞.”
He leaned back against the counter. He couldn’t help himself—humor twisted through his words as he replied, “Well, I might be a loser, but I’m gonna marry your big brother someday, 𝐬𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞!“ He could already practically hear Shuichi scolding him for making things worse. With him in mind, he tacked on simply, “But if you’re gonna be mean, 𝐈 𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐞𝐬. I was gonna offer you some, but now I’m insulted.”
Kotoko grumbled in frustration. Does this guy know who she even is? She’s a Warrior Of Hope! Geeze, how annoying! If he was some random dude, he would be dead and swept under the rug right now! The only thing that was keeping her from harming him was Shuichi. She would hate to deal with his nagging..or worse...his tears.
“Well, I would hope that Shuichi kept his mouth shut about a lot of things about me. My name isn’t really known for the right reasons, you know.” Kotoko side eyed him when he mentioned “marriage”...how rude of him.
“I don’t care if you marry him or not. Honestly, you marrying might be your best option! If I find out that you break his heart, you’ll be on a missing poster on the nearest traffic poll~! You wouldn’t want that, huh~?” Kotoko was bluffing..probably. Again, she didn’t want Shuichi to bother her.
Kotoko opened her book bag and opened up her folder. She pulled out her graded science test that she got a 10% on. “I don’t need permission from you if I can eat cookies or not. If you don’t give me cookies...I’ll tell Shuichi that you were super mean to me and he’ll scold you~! I think we both know how annoying he can be when he’s...angry.”
