Hello all!

Apologies to everyone who’s been waiting for an update on the pin situation. I really appreciate your patience!

For a quick explanation of why things are taking longer than expected:

I haven’t spoken about this here before, but I’ve been sick for over a year now. Recently, things took a turn for the worse and I lost my job because of it. I’ve lost the ability to walk, among other things as my body has been shutting down. Holding a pencil is about the only thing I can do consistently - so I’ve turned to art in hopes of being able to support myself. Still, I can’t do as much as I’d like. Between ER visits, doc appts, and tests, I haven’t had the mental power to figure out all the logistics to make the pins, set up a kickstarter & advertise it.

I’m finally able to write this to make anyone waiting on an update aware that this will take a bit longer. On the bright side, my health seems to be improving atm and I will get everything figured out the moment I’m able!

I will 100% be getting these pins out into the world. It’s just a question of how soon I’m able to do that!

I’m pretty set on hosting a kickstarter, but I’m still open to selling the designs. If you know any companies/people who might want to purchase the pin designs, please tag them or send me a message!

In the meantime, sharing my pins with everyone and anyone you think would be interested in them would be a huge help.

i don't think people take me too serious when i say i'm legally blind. Like, guys I am legally never allowed to drive, I need assistance with a lot of stuff because I can't see. People both irl and online tend to be like "oh but you're not THAT BAD OFF" it's not a thing of whether my eyes are "that bad off" it doesn't matter, they're still blind. i still use magnifying and screen readers. i'm learning braille because my eyes are getting progressively worse and I'd like to be able to still read.

I may not be totally blind, but that's the thing, a lot of blind people AREN'T Totally blind. Blindness is a spectrum. and i don't think a lot of people realize that. And I'm just as valid in my blindness as someone on the spectrum with better eyesight than me, or someone with worse.

(This is OK to reblog. I hope that sighted people who might read this really get it into their heads that blindness is a spectrum...)

Hi!!! I'm another person who would like to have your pins (also, I would love a Thomas design, please!). Have you tried using RedBubble? Because they also print on pins but it's the site who produces them and not the artist. This way, the artist can sell their work to fans without the hassle of spending money to produce their merch themselves and fans from all over the world can buy the designs

Hello!! I have a redbubble shop and looked into having pins made with them as well, but they only make button pins instead of the enamel pins (which these guys were designed to be).

I’m gonna keep trying to find a way to get these made into enamel pins, BUT if I can’t, I’d definitely consider tweaking the design and having them made into buttons!! :)

Perhaps we could, as a fandom, attempt to fund this enamel pin project? Help you raise money to produce the pins? I really need that Alastair design on my backpack LOL and would happily buy a Matthew and Thomas too if you plan to design them. :)

I’ve made a Matthew pin already (and would definitely make one for Thomas if I get enough interest). I’ve looked into preorders, but the amount of people who would need to preorder just one pin for me to not lose money is craazzzyyy! About 50+ people per pin. I had no idea pins cost that much when I designed them!! Maybe I’m not looking in the right places, but I’ve searched around a lot, so if any of y’all have recs let me know.

The hope is a shop who regularly makes/sells pins could purchase the design so those interested could still get a pin. But if that doesn’t happen and I still have people interested, I might put up preorders for the pins you guys want most! So far Alastair has been popular and I’ve had a few requests for Thomas so I might have to get on that haha
