URGENT! Stop KOSA!

Hey all, this is BáiYù and Sauce here with something that isn't necessarily SnaccPop related, but it's important nonetheless. For those of you who follow US politics, The Kids Online Safety Act passed the Senate yesterday and is moving forward.

This is bad news for everyone on the internet, even outside of the USA.

What is KOSA?

While it's officially known as "The Kids Online Safety Act," KOSA is an internet censorship masquerading as another "protect the children" bill, much in the same way SESTA/FOSTA claimed that it would stop illegal sex trafficking but instead hurt sex workers and their safety. KOSA was originally introduced by Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass. and Bill Cassidy, R-La. as a way to update the 1998 Children’s Online Privacy Act, raising the age of consent for data collection to 16 among other things. The quick TL;DR:

KOSA authorizes an individual state attorneys general to decide what might harm minors

Websites will likely preemptively remove and ban content to avoid upsetting state attorneys generals (this will likely be topics such as abortion, queerness, feminism, sexual content, and others)

In order for a platform to know which users are minors, they'll require a more invasive age and personal data verification method

Parents will be granted more surveillance tools to see what their children are doing on the web

KOSA is supported by Christofascists and those seeking to harm the LGBTQ+ community

If a website holding personally identifying information and government documents is hacked, that's a major cybersecurity breach waiting to happen

What Does This Mean?

You don't have to look far to see or hear about the violence being done to the neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ communities worldwide, who are oftentimes one and the same. Social media sites censoring discussion of these topics would stand to do even further harm to folks who lack access to local resources to understand themselves and the hardships they face; in addition, the fact that websites would likely store personally identifying information and government documents means the death of any notion of privacy.

Sex workers and those living in certain countries already are at risk of losing their ways of life, living in a reality where their online activities are closely surveilled; if KOSA officially becomes law, this will become a reality for many more people and endanger those at the fringes of society even worse than it already is.

Why This Matters Outside of The USA

I previously mentioned SESTA/FOSTA, which passed and became US law in 2018. This bill enabled many of the anti-adult content attitudes that many popular websites are taking these days as well as the tightening of restrictions laid down by payment processors. Companies and sites hosted in the USA have to follow US laws even if they're accessible worldwide, meaning that folks overseas suffer as well.

What Can You Do?

If you're a US citizen, contact your Senators and tell them that you oppose KOSA. This can be as an email, letter, or phone call that you make to your state Senator.

On Discomfort and Morality

My father finds gay men uncomfortable.

He's told me before that it's like a knee-jerk for him. Something he doesn't consciously control. He sees two men behaving romantically, and his body reacts with mild discomfort.

In the 1960s, when he was in high school, most of the boys in his form thought he was gay on the simple fact that he wasn't homophobic. He wouldn't participate in insulting queer people, he didn't care if someone was gay, he wouldn't have a problem hanging out with gay people. So people thought he was gay. That's how prevalent homophobia was in his formative years.

When I was 10, my dad told me very seriously that Holmes and Watson were gay. That it was obvious from the literature and the time period that they were meant to be a gay couple. When I was 14 and I came out to my parents as bi, when my mum was upset my dad ripped into her for it. Told her that she was being stupid, that it was my life to live how I wanted to and that she needed to get over herself.

My dad formed my views on censorship: that being that it was completely ridiculous and thoroughly evil. He didn't believe in censorship of any kind. If I asked him a question about sex, he answered it honestly. When I was 12 and I asked him about homosexuality, still young and uncertain, he told me that there was nothing wrong with it. That it was just how some people were. That there was likely an evolutionary reason for it. And that for some people it was uncomfortable on an instinctual level.

He taught me that just because you're uncomfortable with something, doesn't make it wrong. He also taught me that most people don't understand this.

I see a lot of this on the internet as of the last few years. The anti shipping movement, the terf movement, the anti ace movement. It all stems from discomfort that people have crossed wires into believing means wrong. Really every -ism and -phobia out there stems from this same fundamental aspect of humanity.

The next time you see something and you automatically think it's disgusting, or wrong, or immoral, I invite you to ask yourself: is this actually wrong or does this just make me uncomfortable?

Hey! Sorry this took so long! I have béen sick, and out of it for a while. I'm sorry I made wait so long for this request.

Pairing: Tenya Iida x fem!reader

Word count: 1.152

Summary: Tenya is keeping something from you, but you wanted to find out, which leads to some angst.

Warnings: Shouting, angst, injuries.

When you heard about Tenya being in the hospital after being on patrol, you dropped everything and ran to him.

You didn't think. You ran with all your strength, bumping into people and giving them a quick apology.

You arrived at the hospital and bee-lined for the front desk. In between breaths, you asked where your boyfriend was.

The person at the front desk looked startled and told you He wasn't to see visitors at the moment.

You pleaded to see, but you didn't get anywhere. You hung your head. You walked over to the nearest empty seat and sat down.

You looked down at the floor, tears threatening to fall. You don't know how long you stayed there, but at the end of the day, you didn't care. You just wanted to see your boyfriend.

You heard someone walking over and looked up. It was a nurse.

"Are you Y/n L/n?" The nurse asked you.

"Yes?" you answered meekly.

"Mr. Iida would like to see you." The words had barely left her mouth before you stood up from the chair.

"Please, tell me where he is." Your voice wavered.

"Please, follow me." She began walking, and you quickly followed after her.

Walking down the hall felt like an eternity, But finally, you stood in front of a door.

She knocked before opening the door slightly.

"Mr. Iida, Y/n L/n is here to see you." She opened the door, and you finally got a look at Tenya.

You could see his arms were broken and were in casts. You couldn't see much more because of the hospital clothes.

You ran over to him and hugged him, careful not to hurt him further.

You felt him shake in your embrace, and he leaned further into your embrace.

"It's okay. It's okay." You felt the tears that you had back fall down your cheeks.

Some time passed before you let go of him and sat beside him.

You two talked for a while before Midoriya and Todoroki came back. You four talked for a while before you asked them about their patrol.

"What happened that night? I was so concerned when I heard about you." All the guys quickly became quiet and didn't even look at you.

"It was just a rogue villain," Tenya said, but he still didn't look at you. You furrowed brows but didn't press the matter anymore for now.

You spent a month taking care of Tenya. You had fun feeding him in the cafeteria, especially when his whole face would turn red.

Sadly, Tenya kept his mouth shut about what had happened that night in question. It was unlike Tenya to keep things from you, especially something so big.

You felt terrible for going behind his back, but it felt like the only thing you could do to understand what had happened.

You had talked to Both midoriya and Todoroki, but they only gave vague answers.

You pressed Midoriya even more for answers because you knew he knew something.

You got more than you bargained for after he told you what he knew happened that night on patrol. Of course, he didn't know all of it, but what he did know was disturbing.

You thanked him and slowly walked away from him, too shocked to react at the time.

Midoriya felt awful and immediately ran to find Tenya. Midoriya found Iida talking to some classmates.

Midoriya grabbed his wrist and ran into the hall to find somewhere more private.

Tenya was about to scold Midoriya for running in the halls until he said two words that sent shivers down his spine.

"She knows," Midoriya told him after gaining his breath.

Tenya's mind went blank. He didn't know what to do or to think.

Midoriya explained what happened and what direction you went.

Without a word, Tenya sent out to find you. It didn't take long before he saw you sitting on a bench.

"Y/n!" He shouted and stormed over towards you.

"Tenya, I'm so-"

"What were you thinking?!" He shouted at you. You stopped right in your tracks.

"You can't just press our classmates for information, especially-" He continued, but you cut him off.

"What was I thinking?! What were you thinking about keeping something like this from me?!" You shouted back at him.

"This does not involve you, and I would've liked to have kept it that way!" Tenya got even closer to you.

"What were you even thinking about taking on a villain like Stain? You could have died!" You looked ham dead in the eyes, hoping to find an answer.

"You do not need to know anything more. Forget everything Midoriya told you! I do not want to discuss this with you any further!" He stepped back and gave you a hardened look before turning his back.

"Really! All this time, you told me we should be honest with each other, and now you turn your back on me! Why can't you tell me what happened and be honest with me!" You shouted after him.

"You do not need to know anymore, please... Let it go." Tenya looked at you with solemn eyes.

"I will not let this go, nor before you're honest with me! Tell me!" You crossed your arms.

"Y/n, please-"

"Tell me!" You cut him off.

"You don't kn-"

"Tell me!" You cut him off once again.

"Let-"

"TELL ME!" You screamed this time. That seemed to trigger something in Tenya.

"I WANTED REVENGE!" Tenya screamed back. He sunk to his knees and covered his face with his hands.

Your eyes widen. Seeing Tenya break down like this made you feel awful. You walked over and wrapped your arms around him.

But you still didn't understand? Why would he want revenge? Then it clicked. Tensei.

"You wanted because of Tensei, didn't you?" You swallowed, not knowing what to think.

Tenya didn't answer, but he wrapped his arms around you. You took that as a "Yes."

You bit your lip and squeezed him harder in your embrace.

You knew what had happened to Tensei. You saw how distraught Tenya had been, but you didn't know it had caused this.

"I could've lost you." You whimpered.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Tenya sobbed in your embrace.

"Shhh, it's okay." You ran your hand up and down his back to comfort him.

You and Tenya stayed like that for some time. When you felt Tenya pull back, you looked into his eyes. They were red from crying.

"I'm sorry..." Tenya said.

"It's okay. From now on, no more secrets. We need to be honest with each other, okay." You smiled as you caressed his cheek.

"Yes, secrets only create more distance between us." Tenya smiled at you, and you smiled back.

"Now, come on. I'm sure Aizawa Sensei has some questions." You grabbed his hand. Tenya squeezed your hand as you two walked back to class.

Summary: You are a famous artist who likes to stream, and your boyfriend, Tenya Iida, loves to support you.

Warning: None, juts fluff.

You were known as an artist throughout Japan, a very famous one. Many things made you as famous as you were. You mainly dressed how you wanted, which could range from looking like you just rolled out of bed to looking fine AF. You didn't care. You could dress up for an event if you felt like it.

Another thing you are famous for is how chill you are when meeting fans in public. There had only been a few times where you had turned down fans.

Another reason you are so well-known is that you often stream while painting. You loved interacting with your fans and answering their questions.

If you were drawing, you would often take requests or suggestions from your fans.

But probably the biggest reason why people knew about you was because of your boyfriend, Tenya Iida.

The pro-hero had no shame in showing his love for you. Be it at one of your art exhibits or in an interview. He could always talk about you and your art.

If you were streaming, he would come to check on you and bring you snacks. Most of the time, he wouldn't stay for long. He wouldn't want to disturb you too much. But other times, he would linger for a while and talk to you and your fans.

Despite how serious he seems at times, he could always make you laugh. He would sometimes suggest what to draw or what color to use. Even though each visit from him is different, there is one thing that never changes.

Every time he had to leave, he would always kiss you goodbye. It wasn't just a peck on the cheek. No, it was a full-on kiss on the lips.

Today you decided to host another stream. You got dressed in a pair of sweatpants and a giant oversized t-shirt.

You got everything ready before the stream. You laid a tarp on the floor and placed your easel on it. You lowered it to the ground. You just felt more inspired when sitting on the floor.

You got everything else ready. You got your snacks and decided it was time to start the stream.

"Hey guys!" you watched as people began to enter the stream. In the first few minutes, you always answered some questions to give people a chance to interact with you. Because when you start painting, you'll be hard to reach.

There was always one question that would pop up in the chat:

"What are you doing today?"

Most of the time, you had an idea of what you wanted to do, but not today.

You asked your fans for suggestions of what they wanted to see. There were a lot of good ideas, but you weren't feeling it. That was until someone suggested you do something abstract.

"Something abstract, yeah, that sounds interesting." You said and started gathering the supplies you needed.

Since you had no plan, to begin with, you just began painting with the first color your hand caught.

With no sense of direction, you picked both small and big brushes. You also used your palette knives to mix and spread the colors. You smiled as you squirted paint onto the canvas.

When you finally took a step back and looked at your artwork, you loved it. But, you felt like something was missing.

Suddenly, you heard a knock on the door.

"Come in!" You shouted.

"And how is my little artist doing?" you smiled as you heard your boyfriend's voice.

"Hey! I'm good. How is my amazing hero boyfriend?" You asked him. You felt Iida'a arm snake around your waist.

"Tired but happy to be at home with you." He kissed your cheeks. You smiled but kept your gaze at the painting in front of you.

"What's wrong, my love?" Iida asked you.

"I don't know. I feel like something is missing." Iida took one of your hands and kissed it.

That one move made an idea pop into your head. You smiled and grabbed his hand. You dragged him over to where the paint was.

"Honey? What are you doing?" Iida asked, confused by your actions.

"Just give me your hand." You smiled while picking a bright color. You put a thick layer of paint on his hand. You picked up another bright color and did the same with your hand.

You smiled at Iida and guided Iida's hand towards the corner of the canvas. You pressed both your hands onto the painting enough to leave an imprint.

You stepped back and took another good look at the painting again. But this time, it felt complete.

"Now, it's complete." You smiled and leaned up against Iida. Iida smiled and leaned into you as well.

"I can't wait for people to see your newest masterpiece." Iida kissed your head. You smiled and snuggled further into Iida.

"Nah, this is only for us." You smiled and looked at your painting before placing a kiss on Iida's cheek.

i am generally confused right now.

I just noticed I have been blocked by another creator on here by the username @miggiisdumb

I have never talked to them, I have only liked their posts and art, which is really good.

I have tried reaching out to them after, and ask why they have blocked me, but as I am blocked I can't contact them.

I have no idea what I did wrong.
