Anybody had experience with wordpad files seemingly just corrupting at random?
I've now found 2 wordpad files that at some point turned into garbled nonsense. It shows the same on both my laptops.
I backup my documents once a month so I should be able to recover a previous version of this one, but this shit's got me paranoid that all of my documents are eventually going to just turn to trash. :( I'm getting afraid to touch any of my documents.

Next up in my Fayetteville Film Festival Review series is a tense action/drama short film titled "Pretty Canoe".
Two prisoners, Terrance and Davis, have escaped prison and sought refuge at one of their cousins house. They plan to stay the night and then use a boat to escape to the Mexico border in the morning. Unbeknownst to them, there are many surprises in store that will derail their plans.
In addition to telling a good little story in only 20 minutes, the film also touches on the danger of relying on nostalgia to make one's decisions, so it's got a nice subtext to it as well. The film has a couple twists towards the end - one of which I saw coming - but the other was more effective and showed just how clever and quick-thinking one of the characters is once it's revealed, which was cool.
As long as you aren't squeamish about profanity and some mild violence, I definitely recommend this little short. It's a great little thrill ride.
You can watch it here on youtube:

And you can visit the creators facebook page here as well.
Oooh, now we're cookin'! The next Fayetteville Film Festival work I was able to track down is called Madness Within, a short horror film, and horror is one of my favorite genres for pretty much any medium. :)
Running about 13 minutes, I wouldn't want to spoil the twist of the story, but I will say I liked the characters, they felt interesting and nuanced, and while the story does touch on religion it thankfully doesn't fall into the crappy trope of "ooh, the bad guy was the devil all along, we need jesus to save the day!"
The creators, Nowhere Now Productions, also have another free-to-watch short horror film on their channel which I enjoyed as well. According to the Instagram page, they've got a third short film called "Where Is It" as well, but I haven't found any means to purchase or view it as of yet. I'd love the opportunity to see it sometime and support these local horror creators if possible, it's good stuff so far!
You can see this short film here on youtube:

And while you're on their channel, you can see their other short film Flight as well!

Some spooky sounds in the vents of the refinery! I recommended to use good quality speakers for this one, as that ambient drone is very bass heavy and might distort a little. I tried seeing if a lower volume would help reduce it, but it seems to just be an issue with the game's original sound files. Regardless, I like the spooky vibe of these vents.
