Hey guys, I'm currently going through some medical issues, and I don't have any insurance. I have a doctors appointment that will be around 300, and that's not even counting any tests I have to do. If you have anything to spare, I'd really appreciate donations on my kofi. I'm opening up commissions soon, so be on the look for those! https://ko-fi.com/kurixta

THE NEW YORK TIMES instructed journalists covering Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip to restrict the use of the terms “genocide” and “ethnic cleansing” and to “avoid” using the phrase “occupied territory” when describing Palestinian land, according to a copy of an internal memo obtained by The Intercept. The memo also instructs reporters not to use the word Palestine “except in very rare cases” and to steer clear of the term “refugee camps” to describe areas of Gaza historically settled by displaced Palestinians expelled from other parts of Palestine during previous Israeli–Arab wars. The areas are recognized by the United Nations as refugee camps and house hundreds of thousands of registered refugees.
The Times memo outlines guidance on a range of phrases and terms. “The nature of the conflict has led to inflammatory language and incendiary accusations on all sides. We should be very cautious about using such language, even in quotations. Our goal is to provide clear, accurate information, and heated language can often obscure rather than clarify the fact,” the memo says. “Words like ‘slaughter,’ ‘massacre’ and ‘carnage’ often convey more emotion than information. Think hard before using them in our own voice,” according to the memo. “Can we articulate why we are applying those words to one particular situation and not another? As always, we should focus on clarity and precision — describe what happened rather than using a label.” Despite the memo’s framing as an effort to not employ incendiary language to describe killings “on all sides,” in the Times reporting on the Gaza war, such language has been used repeatedly to describe attacks against Israelis by Palestinians and almost never in the case of Israel’s large-scale killing of Palestinians.

interesting how it's always "iranian regime" and never "israeli regime" and definetly never "iran, where the us and uk overthrew a democratically elected leader because the iranian parliment voted to nationalise iranian oil to stop foreign countries profiting off of their resources, with the western powers' actions ultimatly leading to the islamic republic of iran that they so fear"

Btw Israel let Palestinians celebrate not one (1) holiday in peace. They didn’t grant Christian Palestinians access to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, they actively attacked families who were already starving at Iftar during Ramadan, and now there are several reports of families being killed on Eid al-Fitr—a sacred multi-day holiday practiced by lots of Arabs. It breaks my heart imagining the Palestinian families in Gaza right now, most of whom are spending Eid mourning loved ones who were taken by Israeli strikes. Most of us will never understand the sheer magnitude of that pain.

This is so interesting and I agree with a lot of it, but there are also a few things I wanted to add.
Not only is he just incredibly emotionally blind, I feel like he put himself in such a mindset intentionally. Because he believes the entire world is against him, it's clear showing any signs of care is a massive weakness. Perhaps if somebody knew how much he loved his pokemon, then they can use that and exploit it. That's why I believe the "Love for Pokemon" topic doesn't give many points, as it is a weakness of his.
I agree that Volo SEES his pokemon as a transaction that he takes care of in order to complete his goal, but I believe he genuinely cares and loves them and tries to deny it. If that weren't the case, I feel like it would be easy for him to lie and agree with N, it would really be to his own benefit if people just thought he was someone who loved his pokemon. But since he loves his pokemon, he has to hide it because it's a vulnerability, to the point he doesn't believe it himself.
Plus considering just HOW OFTEN he talks about how he was hurt, and how cruel the world turns out to be, it's impossible that it's not connected with how he feels about his pokemon. And while I have my own theories, I hope his trauma is clarified sometime in the game so we can learn more about him, as it would fill a lot of gaps that his character intentionally has.
Volo is an incredibly complex character, and I'm happy Masters is helping with adding onto it.
Oh my god. Pokemon Masters was really the key to the whole discourse of Volo's team isn't it.

I think Pokemon should break more rules in the game. You can't just keep raising the stats of pokemon battles as the way of keeping them challenging. Make that shit fucking UNFAIR. Make it HARD. Where you have to exceed the skill of a normal battler in order to proceed.

when i say i wish people started using the reblog button more i don't mean it in a 'i want more notes' kind of way i mean it in a 'i want to read about your thoughts on this particular thing' and 'i want to have conversations in the tags' and 'i want this to feel like a community again and not like any of those boring social media platforms where artists are content creators and interactions never goes beyond a like'
