Message to the DCMK fandom

In light of recent events (the revelation from movie 27), I would like to say to the fandom and most of all the non KaiShin shippers:

Don't harass or attack KaiShin shippers

Don't mock them

Don't make them feel bad

Don't push them to delete their KaiShin content/blog

Celebrate all you want, but don't brag to KaiShin lovers. For most of us, the revelation hits us bad. Don't rub salt in the wound.

And please, please don't harass them for still shipping KaiShin. Don't make them feel bad for still enjoying a ship that bring them joy still. This ship has over 30 years and, until the latest movie, we never suspected such revelation to be ever canon

Please be normal and let's keep peace and civility in the fandom.

No bc as a seeing blind person this whole thing irks me so bad. He's blind. Straight up. He can't see colors, he can't read signs or screens, he can't look out the window or see constellations or admire a bird perched on the sill. He can't look in a mirror to check his hair, or look at a photograph and tell what's inside. It doesn't matter if he knows they're there, he CAN'T SEE IT. I have enough workable vision that I only use my cane in unfamiliar spaces or places with uncertain terrain, but that doesn't negate the fact that sometimes I do rely on it. I could try without, but that leads to a lot more bruises and scraped knees than I need. Matt CAN find his way around, but that doesn't negate the fact that he's not using his sight to navigate and that using a cane is simply easier for him to do.

In general one of my biggest irks is when people do their hardest to make him not blind, like having him "feel color" or stupid stuff like that. (I know it's canon in one specific run, but like most of the other artists and fans I reject it because it's stupid) He's still blind. Just because he can navigate doesn't mean he's not blind. Most blind people can navigate just fine. Go pick another character if you hate blind people so much ffs

Matt Murdock can "pretend" to be fully blind, but he could never in a million years pretend to be sighted; and I think that's something a lot of fans forget

Even ignoring the whole "he has ways to adapt and that somehow means he's not really disabled because I, personally, am the authority on what does and doesn't count as a disability" type ablesim the whole "Matt pretends to be blind" thing has going, it also fails to account for spoons. Like, yeah, sure, maybe technically Matt could always perfectly map out his surroundings based on his other senses, but it clearly takes effort and concentration to get a perfect map. Can't a bitch just be tired sometimes and decide to use his cane instead?

I'm technically fully capable of walking to work everyday, but sometimes I just don't have the spoons to do it. Maybe if you use the strictest possible definition of "need," I don't ever need a ride to work, but I absolutely need a ride to work sometimes. Likewise, Matt may not, in the strictest possible sense, need Braille because he can technically feel ink on a page, but he's got to have days where it's just not worth the effort to puzzle out the ink, and he'll request a Braille copy. It doesn't mean he's faking needing Braille, just because he technically can read print if he tries hard enough
