warnings: angst and fluff (nothin to bad though)
____
Sleepily, Ben's fingers outstretched to the side of the bed, reaching for his wife. They'd been married for over a year, and she'd given birth to their daughter Alba soon after the wedding. Alba quickly took after her fathers features. With a tuft of raven hair and ears that he prayed she would grow into. Their wedding had been small. Only his mother and a few of Rey's friends. She had worn her traditional Jedi garb, denying Leia's requests to have an extravagant dress. Nevertheless she was stunning. Patting the torn brown sheets for a moment, he realizes Rey's side of the bed is cold. Freezing actually, like there hasn't been a body there in a while.
Almost instantly, his eyes shoot open and he sits up frantically looking for his wife. Ever since he left the First Order he's been on edge. He had left abruptly, faked his death with the help of the resistance. Mostly his mother and a few higher ups. If the entire resistance knew he had even been near the base there would have been an abundance of uproar. Despite the entire galaxy thinking he was dead (there was no reason anyone should've been able to survive the wreck that 'Kylo' had been in), word had gotten around to the first order that he was alive and kicking.
The order wasn't necessarily an order anymore. More of a crew of Hux's miscreants that wanted return the galaxy to its rightful state. Still, the knowledge that they were out there was enough to run chills down his spine. Ben tries to steady his heart rate, and slow his breathing. Listening around the house for any sign of noise that would signal that Rey or his daughter would be there.
Much to his dismay, there wasn't. There was absolutely nothing. The only thing he could hear was the uneasy sound of his breathing. He reached over to a wooden chair where his robes had bene draped on. After the fall of Kylo Ren he had made his wardrobe primarily dark grey. He would always be tainted with the horrors he committed as Kylo Ren but he was different now. He wanted what was best for his family. Even if it was only the three of them.
When they learned Rey was pregnant with Alba, both of them were equally as terrified. There was so much that could go wrong. Even them being together had been a large risk to begin with. The way they were connected made it very possible to use either of them against the other. Any time someone harmed Rey, Ben could feel her pain coursing through him. Which put his mind at ease for the smallest moments knowing she wasn't currently being tortured. Still, that didn't mean that someone wasn't holding his wife and daughter hostage.
He grabbed his lightsaber from the night stand, placing it on his hip as he exited their tiny bedroom. Their home was small and inconspicuous. Anyone that passed by would just think they were another pair of nobody farmers. Rey had begged him to help her create her own garden. Plants continuously made her the happiest woman in the world and he loved watching her and her green thumb go to work. Besides, the more they lived off of their land, the less they had to go to town and could remain out of the public eye.
Looking into Alba's room, there wasn't a sign of Rey in there either. Her crib was neatly made, like their daughter had never even been there in the first place. The window was shut, the room looked like nobody had ever occupied it. Alba's bottles were neatly lined on the shelf, the books he had read to her that night were no longer on the nightstand were he put them but tucked away on the bookshelf.
He was slowly but surely beginning to question his sanity. Where was his family? Had he imagined all of this? Having a life with Rey and a beautiful daughter? He didn't understand what was happening. Sweat began to perspire on his forehead and he felt his hands begin to shake.
"Rey?" He called softly. There was no response.
He closed his eyes, allowing himself to fully tune into the force around him. He reached out to their bond carefully. She wasn't in harms way, she was okay. Rey felt his side of the bond open and opened hers.
"Ben? What's wrong?" She asked soothing him with her voice in a way no one else could.
"Where?" He croaked out his voice cracking as he spoke. "Where are you? Where's Alba?"
"We went on a walk, she's being quite fussy." Rey spoke softly, reassuring her husband. "We're okay, she just wants to watch the sunrise."
"I thought, that maybe-"
Rey stopped him before he finished the thought. "We're safe Ben, come to the garden."
The bond closed, and he found himself rushing into the garden where sure enough Rey was holding Alba, pointing at the sun making its ascent into the sky. Rey heard the door to their hut close and turned around.
"Look who it is Alba! Is that your Daddy?" Rey spoke softly sitting up Alba a little bit so she could look at her father. Rey met Ben in the middle who embraced his girls in a tight grip, but not tight enough to crush Alba between her parents. "We're okay Ben. We're here with you."
Alba made a noise, as if agreeing with her mother and reached a weak arm out to Ben who took her gently. He adjusted her blanket so I would cover her body and keep her warm as Rey nuzzled herself into his side, stealing his warmth. "Whatever scenario happened in your head, it's not true. You're safe, Alba's safe, and I'm safe. Nothing is going to happen to us."
Ben wanted to argue with the uncertainty of his wides statement, but didn't have it in him to do so. He only nodded and kissed his wife's forehead and held them both a little closer. Alba making little noises as she watched the sky burst into pretty colors. She loved watching the sunrise. It was one of her favorite things, despite being a very young infant she was already developing quite the personality.
"Look at the pretty colors Alba!" Rey cooed tickling their daughters chin a little bit causing the baby to squirm, and let out a gummy grin. Slowly the girl yawned causing her mother to laugh. "So now you're tired huh?"
"Why don't we head back to bed?" Ben suggested rubbing Rey's shoulder.
"We have a busy day Ben-"
"That can wait." He cut her off.
"I suppose you're right, and I think Alba agrees." Rey spoke pointing to Alba who had dozed off in her fathers arms. "Look at that, I birthed her and you can get her to sleep without even trying"
"Don't hold it against her love." Ben spoke opening the door for his wife. "She loves you too."
"You're right." Rey spoke. "Besides, maybe I'll have better luck with the next one."
"Next one?" Ben spoke shocked looking down at his wife.
"What, you think Alba is the only one who likes fresh air in the morning?" Rey asks. "Helps with morning sickness."
"You're pregnant." He spoke.
"Yep. Alba is going to be a big sister soon."
"I love you so much." Ben spoke embracing his wife.
"We love you more." She said cheekily.

Never Doubt That You’re Safe
Summary: In which Hux kidnaps Rey and Ben's Children as a bargaining tool for former Supreme leader Kylo Ren's head. Too bad he doesn't know they'd do anything to keep their kids safe.
A/N:this is honestly poorly written but I just didn't know what direction I wanted to take, I might rewrite it better but I also just really wanted to share.

____
Alba looked at her mother, fear present in her eyes. She wasn’t exactly sure how they got to this point, yet here they were with everything that could go wrong, going wrong. Her eyes then moved towards her father, Ben had never been as good as Rey at hiding the emotions in his eyes. While he remained stoic on the outside, it was obvious he didn’t know what to do. The former General Hux, newly dubbed as supreme leader had them held captive. While it might’ve been the plan for Ben and Rey to be here, Alba and her significantly younger siblings were never supposed to be here. Hux always managed to get his way though. Her younger brother Jacen whimpered from behind her legs, clutching her tightly. He was terrified, and while Hux liked the fear he had caused, he didn’t like the nuisance of the reactions emitting from the children.
Both Ben and Rey felt the fear and mix of negative emotions radiating off of their kids. Luna was terrified of the ginger, she could sense the pain and destruction he would bring and knew he wasn't family. Jacen their only son was clutched onto his oldest sister, trembling and cowering away from Hux. Anytime the ginger had spoken he would visibly flinch. And Alba, Alba was trying to keep her composure but Ben knew better than that. She was terrified. She wanted to help, but didn't know how. To her, her capabilities with the force seemed useless and she couldn't wield it at her own whim.
“Shut up scoundrel.” Hux snapped towards the young boy barely older than 6. Alba’s youngest sibling, little baby Luna squirmed in the red heads arms, unfamiliar with who was holding her.
“Let them go Hux.” Rey gritted out, she thought about igniting  her lightsaber, but that would surely end her Children’s lives for good. Hux should have taken the weapons from her, it would've surely saved his life for at least a little longer.
“Why should I? They’re the only power I have over you.” Hux sneered. The supreme leader looked at her father and smirked. “You’ll get them back, as long as the former supreme leader gives me his head”
Ben Solo looked at his wife, and then his children. Slowly, he nodded. His children's safety was his main priority, no matter what happened. If anything happened to him, he would surely plunge back into the dark. Rey was his light, but even she wasn't enough to keep the demons away. His kids though, he always wanted a better life for them. The moment Alba was born he gave up the Dark Side entirely.
“Let me say goodbye to my children.” He said solemnly, looking his oldest in the eyes. The two always had a bond, as soon as she was brought into the galaxy something within him had awakened and he knew she'd be more powerful than anyone he'd ever known. For now though she was his daughter, his pride and joy. The preteen girl who was still afraid of the dark and carried her stuffed wookie doll that Chewbacca had given her the first time they had met.
“Daddy no-“ Alba’s voice croaked. He was her best friend, always had been since the moment she was born.
“Alba.” He said almost sternly, silently begging her not to fight him on this. “Let me do this darling.”
Tears appeared in the young girls eyes and she started to shake her head as her father cautiously climbed the stairs of the throne room approaching Alba and Jacen.
“Are you sure about this?” Rey’s voice appeared in his head. "If anything happens to you I-"
“As soon as the kids are safe, take care of the stormtroopers. Hux is mine” His face remained half blank, showing at least a little bit of fear. He was seething within.  How dare this ginger headed twat lay his hands on his children. Threaten his children.  He’d have the man’s head. It had been over a decade since Ben had felt Kylo tug for control within his mind. Although, if it came to saving his children he didn’t mind.
“Dad please.” Alba begged as Kylo rested a hand on her shoulders. The girl had finally broke and tears were overflowing in her eyes now. “You can’t.”
He knelt down in front of the young girl, brushing a raven lock out of her hair and wiping away her tears. She looked tired, and worn down. There was a cut on her lip and her forehead was bruised. He could tell she gave up a fight, and it made his blood boil that she was even forced to do that. If he found out who it was that left those marks on his daughters innocent self, he'd have their heads, for now though Hux's would be just fine.
“My star, it’s okay.” He spoke gently. She wrapped her arms around his neck tightly and began sobbing. “Take your siblings and run.”
She pulled back confused. He gently entered her mind as to not startle her. Alba’s powers weren’t necessarily under control yet and the force still spooked her.
“Continue to be sad, as if these are my last moments. The first chance you get, grab Luna and Jacen and protect them, they're defenseless. You're power is growing.”  Hearing her fathers voice in her head, her demeanor quickly changed. “It will be okay Starlight, you’re stronger than you know.” With one last hug towards Alba he knelt down next to his only son.
Jacen was still young at 6 years old but was beginning to look like him more and more every day. The only thing that suggested he was Rey’s was the tan skin littered with freckles. “Take care of your sisters and mom for me okay little man?”
"I love you Dad." Jacen spoke nodding as tears streaming down his little face as he wrapped himself around his fathers much larger body. “Listen to your sister okay?”
When Jacen let go of Ben he immediately went  back to his sister, wrapping himself around her legs and crying into her side. Alba slid a hand over her little brothers back and watched solemnly as Ben walked to Hux, Baby Luna still squirming in the gingers arms.
“My daughter.” Ben spoke holding his arms out for his youngest. “Whatever you plan on doing I assume you can’t have your arms full.”
“Pointing out the obvious I see.” Hux spoke quickly handing Luna over to Alba who held the baby tightly at her chest.  “Kneel.”
"Look away kids." Kylo spoke deeply as he remained standing looking over at his children, before slowly looking back at Hux and placing his hand behind his back palm facing outwards towards Rey. Within seconds the three troopers nearest to her children were flung against the walls.
Hux’s calm and collected demeanor was quickly changed. His brow crinkled and sweat began to perspire on his pale forehead. Alba ducked down, shielding her siblings from the blasters that were now shooting. She heard the ignition of her mother’s lightsaber and the dying gasps of the troopers.
“You thought you could harm my children, kill me?” Kylo spoke getting closer and closer to Hux with each word he spoke. “Let me tell you something Armitage, you never had what it takes to be supreme leader. Your ideas are unrealistic and unable to be properly executed. It’s a dead dream just like you.”
With his blood boiling he reached his hand out, choking Hux with the force. “You’ll never harm another family in the galaxy again. Especially mine.”
After a final gaping breath from the choking ginger Kylo heard a sickening snap and the let the man fall to the floor, turning around Rey dealt with the last trooper. Alba looked up at her parents watching as they ran towards her. The family fell into an embrace the children sobbing loudly and Luna reaching for her mother. The baby could sense the distress of her family. Rey quickly wiped the tears of her children’s faces, smoothing back the hair that was stuck to them with sweat. Jacen clung to her crying loudly out of fear and relief as Alba stared at the body of Hux lying limply on the floor.
“Don’t look Alba.” Kylo told her turning her face away from the dead ginger and instead making her look at him. “You’re safe, never doubt that. As long as Mom and I are here, you’ll always be safe.”
Alba nodded, before wrapping her arms around her father not paying any mind to the death and destruction around them.
“Let’s go home shall we?” Rey said standing up ruffling Jacen’s hair and looking at her husband.
“Uh, we might need a new home.” Alba said nervously. “Ours is kind of in pieces.”
“That’s just a couple walls and stone, our home is with each other.” Ben told her. “Besides, we can find a new planet, there’s plenty to choose from.”
“Come on my Stars.” Rey spoke grabbing Jacen's hand as Ben placed a hand on Alba's shoulder. "It's over now, we're safe."

a/n: I really love AU reylo sue me okay? requests are open!!
warnings: fluff, BAND AU, Soulmate AU
Rey sat in the middle of her physics lecture, listening to her professor drone on and on about a topic she'd learned in high school. Beside her, Rose was scribbling words onto her arm. After each word she'd wait a moment until more appeared on her opposite arm. It was her soulmate. Rey rolled her eyes at the girl as she giggled silently at something Finn had said. They'd been writing each other since they first turned 18. Rose and Finn were madly in love and it made Rey want to barf, just the thought of it made her gag. Sure she was happy that her best friend was in love, but the thought of writing endless love notes on her body never appealed to her.
Typically, when people turned 18 the first thing they did was write on their skin- to see if they'd get a response. Just about everyone had a soulmate, but there were the few rare occasions that someone was born without their other half designated by the stars. Rey never wrote on her skin because everyone left her. She didn't want to be reliant on someone's handwriting. She wanted to be her. Luckily, she never got some type of declaration of love and she was fine with that. Nobody could leave her if they didn't reach out. That was her philosophy in life.
She'd always been very careful not to write anything on her skin, for fear of a response. Anytime she accidentally got marker on her hands called for an immediate trip to the bathroom to scrub the ink from her skin. As soon as the lecture ended, Rose and Rey walked to the local coffee shop on campus, their daily routine in order to study. Rose claimed them a spot in a booth away from the door while Rey went to stand in line to order their coffee and tea.
___
Kylo Ren was about to lose his mind, or commit a felony. It was only the second week of the First Order tour for his band Knights of Ren, and he was contemplating if it would be worth looking for another bassist if Hux didn't just shut the fuck up. Seriously, the pale red head was way too loud on their cramped tour bus. Phasma gave him a glare before shaking her head. "It's not worth it." She had told him. "It might be if it gets us some peace and quiet." He grumbled throwing one of Hux's own drumsticks at his head. The red head grumbled. "I fear for whoever has you as their soulmate." Hux scoffed rubbing the back of his head tenderly. "And I mourn for Phasma, considering her's will be dead in a matter of seconds." Kylo snapped angrily. Hux knew soulmate's where a tough topic with Kylo, yet he brought them up at every single god damn opportunity he had.
Kylo didn't mind not having a soulmate. Well, he didn't know if he did, they never reached out and he had no desire to himself. He just tended to assume that he didn't have one. His parents were soulmates, but they seemed to be pretty bad parents. His nights as a child were spent listening to his parents fight thinking he couldn't hear them. Maybe they were in love before him, that was a good bet but growing up they seemed to hate each other.
"Ha, yeah right Ren." Hux said throwing a marker at Kylo. Catching it, he looked around for a piece of paper. Once he couldn't find it he decided his skin worked best, somewhat forgetting that it wouldn't just appear on his own. "Yeah, look it's on my to do list." Kylo said showing his wrist.
To Do
1. Murder Hux
___
Rey returned with her tea and Rose's coffee. She handed the cup to Rose whose eyes suddenly widened.
"Uh Rey, have you talked to your soulmate lately?" Rose asked cautiously, knowing the subject was touchy for the young adult.
"Jesus Rose, you know I've never spoken to them in my life and have no desire to." Rey said with a scoff sitting down in the booth directly parallel to her. "Well, um you might wanna look at your wrist?" Rose squeaked and Rey's eyes snapped to her wrist where a simple to do list was written out.
1. Murder Hux
"Oh my god." Rey said almost spitting her tea out. "I didn't write that"
"Yeah no shit! What kind of name is Hux!" Rose almost yelled. "You gotta write back man."
"Hand me a marker." Rey said shocking herself. All of this defiance of not writing her soulmate and for what? To give that up the moment they wrote her? Rose quickly scrambled for the pen she used to write Finn all the time. Once in her hands, Rey wrote out a simple question. "God, I hope they're not a psychopath."
Does this mean I'm an accessory to murder?
Rey waited a moment, her heart rate had accelerated. She'd never done this before. It was a foreign feeling like no other. Talking to her soulmate. The thought even felt weird, nonetheless when the words appeared on her skin this time, she felt a tingle. Maybe it was because she was consciously focusing on the words, who knows.
So you do exist came the mysterious reply. Rey laughed rolling her eyes as she scribbled on her arm again. Maybe she could understand the appeal to it now.
You never answered my question. Rey replied, dodging how her soulmate knew of her negligence to reach out. But technically the blame could go two ways.
No, I'm just threatening my Bandmate. He's annoying.
Rey let out a hearty laugh, as if that made sense. Rose watched on in awe, still completely shocked at what was happening.
___
Kylo was surprised when a response showed up, he'd completely forgot about the chances that someone out there was made specifically for him. He felt like he didn't deserve a soulmate. The fates decided otherwise. Maybe he was worthy of someone.
You're in a band? They asked and he felt the tips of his ears growing red. What if this person was an obsessed super fan? He felt narcissistic even thinking that, but it wasn't rare that people drew the same words on their arms thinking he'd be stupid enough to believe them. He hesitated answering, almost scared it would be someone who knew him.
We're actually on tour currently he wrote. Plenty of bands were on tour, surely whoever they were wouldn't single his out.
Anything I might know? The words appeared on his skin. Surely whoever it was had to know who they were. They'd been on every radio station, youtube interview, and all over social media. They blew up pretty much overnight, and went from playing in small venues barely selling tickets to sold out concerts at arena's.
It's an Emo/Alternative band, nothing too special. His arm was covered in writing at this point, he was receiving strange glances from Phasma who, thankfully had managed to keep Hux quiet.
My roommate is super into that stuff, always dragging me to shows with her whenever they come to town.
"Let's go pretty boy, rehearsal in 10." Hux said calling to him. He hadn't even realized when the bus stopped moving.
"Be right there." Kylo said looking back down at his arm. Hux only scoffed and walked away from the scene, as if he hadn't been this enamored the first time him and Phasma made contact in high school.
Sorry to cut this short, but I have rehearsal he wrote apologetically. He genuinely did want to stay here and talk to the stranger all night if he could. And I have a show tonight
Oh no worries, I have an exam to study for. Break a leg :) For the first time in ages, a genuine smile crossed Kylo's face. That was a rare occurrence, and a complete stranger managed to make it happen.
Thanks :)
___ The two chatted over the next two months, growing closer. He told her about concerts, groupie's, and of course Hux and his never ending mission of annoying Kylo. She told him about her exams, her classes, how much she worked because she was stressed about money. He always offered to help her, but every time she declined, telling him that she needed to work for it herself.
He admired her for that, but let her know that if she ever needed help, he'd find a way. She still didn't know the name of his band, and he didn't mind that. She knew him as Ben. Something to differ her from the rest of crazy fans. As he was thinking about her, he felt the familiar tingle on his skin.
Today's been absolutely horrible. He frowned at that. Every once and while, she had bad days but his were more common. Knowing she felt bad made him want to destroy whoever made her feel that way.
What happened sunshine? He asked her awaiting the response. Slowly each word showed up, and when the ink smudged almost like someone was wiping it away in certain places he could tell she was crying, it smeared the ink.
I went to turn in my paper, only my computer crashed and i lost everything so I wrote a horrible paper just to meet the deadline, and then someone stole my wallet at the coffee shop so I have to get a new card and then a bird pooped on my backpack, and it's just not a great day.
Hey don't cry sunshine. He wrote the words down quickly, his heart physically aching at the thought of her crying. Kylo wanted to hold her and never let go. Unfortunately, being soulmates didn't mean you could find one another physically quickly. Another thing was that any attempt at getting a phone number or basically anything other than a first name was off limits. It just meant, there was someone out there made especially for you. Everything is going to be okay, you're strong, your paper is amazing, and you can wash your backpack.
I wish you were here love Kylo's heart fluttered at the words.
Me too, sunshine He wanted more than anything to be there. To finally know what the girl he loved looked like. To hold her in his arms, and keep her to himself. Enough about the bad, what's good that's happening soon for you?
They did this a lot when one of them had a bad day. It tended to help and get their minds off of whatever was feeling wrong to them. Typically, Rey was always the happy one who was making Kylo feel better.
Rose is dragging me to a concert this weekend that she won tickets for, I don't know who but they're always fun. He smiled at that. For some reason, Rey was always letting her roommate drag her everywhere but she always had fun doing whatever Rose's plan was for the week. He was thankful for the girl because from what he could tell, Rose always looked after Rey well.
That will be fun, try not to fall for any of the band members ;) He laughed at his own joke, startling Phasma.
"Talking to your girl again?" She asked looking up from her book. "Yeah," Kylo said smiling. "I want to write a new song, for our next show."
"About her?" Phasma said cocking a blonde eyebrow. "Fan's will certainly love that."
"They all know they never had a chance anyways." Kylo said rolling his eyes.
"Tell them that." She spoke flipping a page in her book. "But I like the idea."
___
That Saturday night, Rey stood in front of her mirror looking over her outfit with uncertainty. The green overall dress and black shirt she wore under it were out of her comfort zone, but she knew she didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb if she wore something else. She borrowed some of Rose's boots that were always for these concerts they went to. They were hard would prevent her feet from getting smashed when they were at the barricade.
She tucked a pen into her pocket, just in case,  she had told herself. That was a lie, she always wanted to talk to Ben. Suddenly she felt the familiar tingle, looking down at her wrists Ben's handwriting appeared.
Be safe tonight sunshine <3.
Always am love <3.
___
The crowd for Knights of Ren was dense. Their first album had been what got them on to the top 100 charts. Rose made Rey listen to them on the ride over, and Rey completely understood why. The lead singers voice was one of an absolute angel. The bassist was pretty amazing too. Somehow, they'd manage to get tickets about 3 rows away from the right side of the stage.
Rose squealed from beside her. "Dude this is going to be so amazing!"
Suddenly the lights went down, suggesting the concert was about to begin. Kylo Ren was absolutely gorgeous and she could tell he loved being on stage. After playing through the entire album Kylo spoke into the mic for a little bit.
"Okay, so I actually have a surprise for you guys here." He spoke, his deep voice traveling through the arena. "We're playing a new song, one I wrote very recently, for someone very special. This is Sunshine."
He nodded at Phasma who began to strum the first couple cords. Rey listened to the song carefully. It was really beautiful, and one of the best songs she'd ever heard of.
The words appeared on my skin
you said baby i've had a bad day
and I told you
Sunshine don't cry
I'm only a couple thousand miles away,
and love, you wish I was there
but I'm right here in your heart
always there to chase the rain away.
Sunshine, don't cry.
Rey's eyes widened. Remembering the conversation she had with Ben meerly days ago. One of the first things he told her was that he was in an alternative band. She scrambled for her pen in her pocket looking at Kylo with certainty before writing on her arm.
I'm right here
____
As he finished the first chorus, he felt the tingle. Subtly, he looked down towards his wrist where the words appeared. Frantically, he looked up searching the crowd, his leather gloves with the fingers cut off clutching the mic tightly.
____
She noticed his eyes searching the crowd as soon as he looked at his wrist. The same one she had wrote on. His eyes screamed one question Where? Quickly, she wrote down her location within the crowd.
My right, third row.
Despite there being thousands of people in that arena and the crying girls throughout the entire row her and Rose were in, she locked eyes with Kylo, well to her he was Ben, immediately. His eyes widened, almost in disbelief before he hopped off the stage, walking straight towards the barricade. Rey found herself pushing through the crowd of screaming girls to reach for him, Rose following hesitantly behind her. When they finally were face to face, he let the last line of the song fade away before speaking quietly, away from the mic.
"Sunshine" He spoke, making her heart burst into flames. For the past two months, she'd been imagining his voice saying his name for her. Finally, here they were. Staring at each other face-to-face in a crowd of thousands of people.
"Ben." She whispered and he put a large hand to her face cradling her cheek.
"It's you."
"Yeah, it's me love." With those words she kissed him deeply and lovingly. His arm came to the small of her back, holding her against the barricade as close as he could get her. Her hands held the back of his neck softly, but hungrily. He was finally in her arms and she never wanted to let go. Suddenly, the sound of fans screaming excitedly broke them from each others trance.
He turned to Rose quickly. "I owe you so much for bringing her here. Anything you want."
"Name your firstborn after me." Rose said in her typical fashion but also getting over the shock of what was happening.
"Sure, anything." Ben said before looking back to the crowd awaiting him. "I'm bringing you backstage, wait for me to finish?"
"Of course." Rey spoke grabbing his hand gently. Ben nodded towards security and then towards Rey before lifting her over the barricade and pressing his lips firmly against hers once more.
"I'll see you soon, Sunshine."

Rey peeked out from behind her grandfather's legs, the 6 year old was not interested in the art camp he had signed her up for. It wasn't that she didn't like art, it was just that she didn't like the idea of leaving Obi-Wan for so long, plus he'd always been the one to teach her everything she knew when it came to art. The thought of someone else taking his place was scary to the little girl. He was one of the nicest people she'd ever met in her short life, no one could ever replace him.
"Rey, I promise you my friend Luke is very nice. His nephew will even be there." Obi said kneeling down to her level. The man was in his early 50's and each passing day made his joints ache even more than the last. Guess that was what happened when you were a war hero.
"But Grandpa," She whined.
"It will be fun, you'll make some new friends!" Obi told her brushing back the hair that was loose from her 3 buns. "Come on, there's Luke." The older man led Rey over to a slightly younger man who had a young boy pouting behind him as well. The boy had black hair and big features. Rey's favorite were his eyes though, even though she'd already said she didn't want to be here, the young girl already seemed to be changing her mind and wanted to draw this mystery boy.
"Obi-wan." The man said greeting him. He had sandy blonde hair that was beginning to go grey and a bright smile as he greeted them both. "and you must be Rey." "Good to see you old friend." Her Grandfather said from behind her before nudging her forwards. "and yes, this is Rey."
"Hi." She squeaked out shyly and managed to get the boy's attention from behind Luke.
"Welcome, I'm sure you'll love it here over the next two weeks. This is Ben Solo, my nephew." Luke said pushing 'Ben' forwards. "Why don't you two go find the other kids huh?" "That sound's like a great idea." Obi said kneeling down to give the young girl a hug. "Goodbye Rey." "Bye Obi." She said softly, not necessarily wanting him to go but also wanting to be a big girl.
"Ben will you take her?" Luke asked and the moody boy nodded before walking off. Slowly, Rey picked up her feet and followed the boy.
When they arrived in the brightly colored room with laughing and screaming children of all ages, Rey looked around in panic. They'd already  established their own little groups, and didn't seem too open to inviting an outsider in. She watched as Ben took a seat in a black bean bag leaning against the wall in the far corner of the room. She found the young boy intriguing and decided to follow him, plopping down in the yellow one adjacent to him.
"Hi Ben." Rey said, he didn't say anything back to her. "I'm six, how old are you?" "I'm 8." Ben muttered out moodily. Who knew an 8 year old held this much attitude.
"I can tell you don't want to be here." Rey said with a slight pout. "But honestly, neither do I my gramps is the best teacher in the whole wide world. I'm only here to show him that I can be a big girl and prove him wrong." "Wow, 6 sure is big." Ben said with a roll of his eyes. "You're kind of a meanie." Rey said with a scoff. "You know what, I'm going to be super nice to you, and we're going to be super best friends."
"Why not just friends?" Ben asked with a smirk. He had to admit, he was enjoying the goofy young girls presence more than he enjoyed most people's. "Because super best friends are better." Rey said as a matter of factly."
"Ahhh." Ben said making a sound of understanding, when finally his Uncle Luke came in the room.
"Welcome! For those of you who are first timers at the Skywalker art camp, my name is Luke. I'll be your teacher on this two week journey." Luke said smiling brightly at every face new and old in his camp. "Today, is all about getting to know each other- your dorms are assigned and dinner is at 6. For now, get acquainted, these are your peers for the next two weeks, get to know the people around you, play some games, make friends and I know this will be an amazing experience for us all." --
Over the next two weeks, Ben Solo and Rey became friends. Even if Ben didn't want to admit that Rey might be right about being Super best friends. The fact was they did everything together, and wherever Ben Solo was you were sure to find little 6 year old Rey tagging along behind him. One of the final things they needed to do as Art Camp winded down was set up an art show where parents could walk through and view the progress their young ones had made.
Rey set hers up nice and neat, all of her work was up there with the exception of one sketch that was a gift. She kept that one neatly tucked away in the pocket of her coat. She wandered the halls of the small fair, admiring everyone's work until she found Ben angrily taking his pieces off of his side of the booth. She looked at him confused. "Ben!" She cried out. "What are you doing?" Ben stopped briefly looking at the young girl who looked appalled by his actions, before continuing to remove his artwork from the walls. "I'm taking this down. There's no point." "Why?" She said. Rey was almost on the verge of tears. She admired Ben Solo's work and thought everyone should view it.
"My parent's aren't coming, they'd rather work." He said angrily, he just wanted the approval from his parents that he was doing a good job. "They never come, no one wants to view this crap. It's not like I'm their only kid or anything." "I like your art." Rey said quietly. "I wanna see it." "Thanks Rey." Ben said quietly. "You should get back to your own booth, I'm sure Obi-wan is loving your portrait of him." "Wait!" She said wrapping her arms around the waist of the boy who was significantly taller than her. She reached into her pocket before pulling out the folded piece of sketch book paper. "I made you something."
When he didn't say anything she let go waving sadly. "Goodbye Ben, I really hope I'll see you next year!"
"Goodbye Rey." He said unfolding the paper. It was them from the first night. Rey had drawn them sitting on the bean bags, she colored every fine detail. From the bright sunshine yellow of the bean bag she sat in to the angry scowl on his face that was tinted red. It was a sweet gesture from the kid. On the back there was a little note.
To my Supr Best Frind Ben
From Rey.
Next to her name she drew a little sun. Ironic considering she was a little Rey of Sunshine around the place and Ben seemed significantly less moody when she was around. He smiled widely, placing the item in his pocket much more carefully than he had been handling his own artwork. Hopefully, he saw her next year too.
___
When Rey was 9, it was her 4th year of going to Luke's art camp. She kept improving every year. Luke even had told her if she kept working really really hard, that she might get into a prestigious art school when she was older. When she walked through the doors for the 4th year, Obi-wan had wished his granddaughter goodbye and spoke a couple words to Luke before leaving. Rey found Ben at their secret spot they'd claimed as their own during her 2nd year of camp. It was simply an old storage closet they'd found one year and the next year is was mysteriously decorated cozily with their bean bags, a small desk, a couple of string light, an easel, along with shelves of paints, pencils, crayons, pastels and any other art supply they could possibly think of.
After seeing the two kids bond so well, and knowing how hard it was for Ben to make friends Luke set up this spot for them. Allowing them to do whatever they wanted for the most part as long as they showed up to the lessons. "Hi Ben!" She cheered. He was 11 now, a big middle school kid. She was still in the 4th grade.
"Hey Rey." He said focusing on the painting he was working on. He had been attempting to better his skill with water colors but they just weren't working with him at the moment.
"Whatcha painting?" She questioned plopping herself down on her beanbag and watching him intently.
"My dog, Artoo." Ben says adding blue to the collar of the dog, blending it with grey.
"You have a dog?" Rey asks bewildered. "We're super best friends and you didn't tell me you had a dog? I'm hurt Ben." "Are you now?" Ben asked her, his back was facing her and she couldn't see the smirk that laced his lips.
"I am. Ya know, I've always wanted a pet, but Grandpa Obi says I can't have one because I'm already enough to handle and it would be just like bringing another kid into the house, and he says he's too old for that. I even tried getting him to compromise and get me a fish, but that didn't work either because he said I'd forget to feed it, or even over feed it and he'd have to clean the tank which he really doesn't want to do if the fish will end up dead in a month." He smiled slightly, as the young girl rambled on and on about absolutely anything and everything and he set his supplies down, listening intently to every word she said. Eventually, the dinner bell rang and they were forced to vacate the closet in order to go eat, either way- they found an empty table and sat down, eating the mac and cheese and drinking some chocolate milk. Ben even traded Rey his brownie for her fruit roll up, stating he didn't like chocolate (even though he did and this was just a ploy for the 11 year old to watch her eyes light up with joy and inevitably get chocolate all over her face, that he had full plans of sketching later).
When it came time for bed, Rey retreated to her dorm. This year she shared it with a tiny asian girl who had already unpacked all of her things. "Hiya! I'm Rose Tico!" She said sticking her hand out immediately. Rey stood there in shock, this is the first time one of her roommates actually wanted to talk to her. "I'm Rey Kenobi." Rey said shyly shaking the girls hand. "Is this your first year?" "Yeah, my mom thought it would be good. She says I've been ruining my sisters wall by painting on them." She said with a shrug. "What about you?" "This is my fourth year." Rey said taking a seat on her bed. "Really? Dude thats so cool!" Rose told her excitedly grabbing onto her pillow. "I didn't see you when we were introducing ourselves, where were you?" Rey blushed lightly. She didn't want Rose to think she got special treatment and make herself seem like a brat, but what else would she say. "I was with Ben, he's my best friend." Rey told her. "Isn't he Mr. Skywalkers nephew?" Rose asked talking so fast, the bun on top of her head bobbed up and down in a funny way. "I heard he was moody."
"Yeah." Rey said before defending her friend. "He can be, but he just doesn't like people. Except for me, because we're best friends!"
"Or maybe he has a crush on you!" Rose squealed excitedly. "What if you guys are soulmates and you get each others soul marks?" "Soulwhat?" Rey asked. She'd never heard of soul-marks before.
"Soulmates!" Rose said pulling out a small ipod from her bag and jumping on the girls bed. "Look, when you turn 16, the name of your soulmate appears on your wrists! It's the person you're supposed to be with forever!"
"I think you're ridiculous Rose." Rey said with a scowl that could almost match Ben's. "There's no way Ben and I can be Soulmates, we're just super best friends!" "Super best friends?" Rose asked questionably.
"Super best friends." Rey told her affirmatively. "Boys are gross" "Sounds like soulmates to me." Rose said with a giggle before jumping back onto her bed with a squeal as Rey threw a pillow at her.
--
The next morning, Rey sat on a stool placed in front of an easel right next to Ben. Rose caught her eye from across the room and wiggled her eyebrows and made kissy faces. Rey glared at her teasingly and looked away. Suddenly Luke walked in, ready to teach the lesson.
"Alrighty kids, today we'll be working with Oil Paints, and making Portraits with them." Luke said explaining everything in fine detail. "Why don't you partner up, and use your partner as inspiration." As always, Rey looked at Ben who looked at her. They'd already done this lesson multiple times during their previous years, now they had turned it into a fun game. Whoever could make the best portrait got the losers desert for the night.
Rey took in Ben's features carefully. When she began adding the final details, she made his nose red and shiny, and the tips of his ears red. She added hints of green and gold into his hazel eyes, and made his shiny black hair as soft looking as she could. By the time they finished they were covered in paint and their bellies hurt from laughing so hard. They turned the paintings around to show each other and beamed widely. Did their work belong in a museum? Not by any means. Was it more meaningful than anything in the entire world? Of course.
"Wow." Rey said as she took in his painting. There were warm tones throughout the entire painting, he had painted her in a yellow light, the tips of her nose was golden and her cheeks were a rosy pink, and her eyes looked extremely lifelike. The 11 year olds talent shocked her. "Ben that's really good." "Yours is too Rey." Ben said with a smile. "I think we tied." "I think so too." Rey beamed at him.
__
When Rey was 12, her grandpa Obiwan died. It devastated the little girl she sat off to the side during the visitation. She was sick of being in the front row, where everyone was giving her sad looks and whispering about the little girl who didn't have any family left. What surprised her though, was that Ben was at the funeral. He sat beside her wordlessly during visitation and put an arm around her shoulder pulling her into a comforting embrace. Afterwards, when everyone had left except him, Luke and two others she'd never met before he guided her over to the open casket to say one last goodbye.
"It's okay Rey." He whispered into her ear. "Take your time."
With that he walked away to sit on one of the pews, and gave her some space. When she came over she burst into tears and clung onto the boy who was now extremely tall and lanky. His hair reached his chin, covering the big ears she knew were underneath. They'd both changed so much over the years. Eventually a woman came over to them, placing a hand on Ben's shoulder.
"Hi sweetie." She said. "I'm Leia, Ben's mom. Your grandfather helped my family out a lot back in the day, and I promise we'll help you with whatever you need. Especially since you have been such a big help with Ben these past few years." "Thank you." She croaked as Ben rubbed her back gently. "I wanna go home now if that's okay." "Of course." Leia said walking away from the pair.
"I don't know if I'm going to go to art camp this year." Rey muttered quietly to Ben.
"I think Obi would want you too." Ben told her. "He always loved seeing what you created during the fairs." "It just wouldn't be the same." Rey said.
"Maybe not, but he loved seeing you happy especially when you were creating." Ben told her reassuringly. "If anything, honor him with it." "He always did tell me to pour my emotions into my art" Rey told him quietly with a soft smile. "Maybe you're right."
"One more thing." Ben said pulling out a small box. Rey took it gently in her hands examining it. "It's for you, if you ever need me, just give me a call okay? This way we can talk more outside of camp." "Thank you Ben." Rey said hugging him once more. "You're the best super best friend in the world."
"You're pretty alright yourself." Ben said with a smirk and she punched his shoulder lightly. "I'll see ya around." "Yeah, I'll see ya around." Rey said before walking over to her new legal guardian Maz Kanata. She was a tiny frail woman, but another family friend who Obiwan trusted everything with (even to have her explain why girls had periods when that time came).
"You ready dear?" Maz asked and Rey nodded slowly. She took one last look at the coffin and walked out of the funeral home with the phone Ben gave her in her hands and watched as his family pulled out of the parking lot.
She'd be ready for whatever the world through at her.
__ By 13, Rey had developed a serious crush on Ben Solo. Puberty did the boy well. He was even taller than before, and not quite as lanky as before. His facial features became more accented and Rey had been thinking of every new way to capture his beauty in her art. Suddenly, her phone buzzed on her desk that was covered in messy sketches (most of which where admittedly Ben). She picked it up, seeing it was him who had texted her.
Hey, did you hear Luke's doing 4 sessions this year?
He is? She replied, eagerly awaiting the boys response.
Yeah, one of them falls on your birthday. Another one on mine.
Really! That's awesome!
Soon though, the wide smile that laced her face was replaced with a frown. There was no way she'd be able afford all the sessions.
I know what you're thinking, Luke's already agreed you're coming to all of them- no charge.
Ben I can't accept that.
Yes you can. Luke loves you, besides he wants us to help him out with the younger kids. He's going to have his hands full this year.
Fine, you really have a way with words Solo.
That's why we're Super Best Friends, as a wordy 6 year old I used to know would say.
Shut up.
Never,  he added a smiley face to the end of it and Rey sighed as her heart fluttered. She had it bad. Besides in a few months Ben would find out who his soulmate is and it wouldn't be the scrawny 13 year old that claimed to be his best friend.
--
During the fall session of Luke's camp, Ben finally turned 16. He refused to let Rey know the name on his wrists. Coincidentally he got really interested in the thick rubber bracelets with band names on them from hot topic to cover it so she couldn't snoop and see. "Ben come on!" Rey whined tugging on his arms. She had turned 14 two months ago and was filling out nicely. She nearly matched his height (okay not nearly but compared to most, she was the closest with only 5 inches separating them!). "Why won't you show me?" "I'll tell you when you're 16 Rey." He told her removing his arm from his grasp. "Benjamin Solo that's 2 years away!"
"Technically, it's only 1 year and 9 months." "You're ridiculous." Rey said rolling her eyes and pouting slightly. She wouldn't admit that she was a little upset, even though he knew. "Ben we're best friends. No! Super Best friends, we tell each other everything."
Ben sighed pulling the young girl in for a hug, lightly kissing the top of her forehead. Rey felt her cheeks heat up a lot, she only buried her head in his chest further hoping the blush would go away before he saw her face. "and I will tell you. On your 16th birthday, when you have a mark of your own." "You're no fun." Rey told him scrunching up her nose.
"I'll give you my brownie at dinner." "You're a little more fun." ___
When Rey was 15 she realized she was utterly and completely in love with Ben Solo. Which terrified her. Her soulmark would appear in less than a week and what if it wasn't him? It just had to be him. She didn't know what she would do if it wasn't. She had fallen in love with every little thing he did. Whenever, he texted he began to leave little smiley faces at the end of every text that made her heart flutter.
There was also his smile. Rey was absolutely positive that it was the best thing she'd ever seen on earth. Plus, the fact that she knew she was the reason it was there most of the time? Amazing! A feeling like no other. His laugh was music to her ears and there was no better sound ever. There also was that one time she walked in on him changing and saw him shirtless for the first time. That image was forever engraved in her mind and for that she was thankful. Ben had a nice body. Still, her biggest fear was losing him to another girl. Maybe that's why he refused to show her his soulmark, that they didn't have each others names on their wrists because fate was cruel and thought they weren't meant for each other. That when she turned 16, a different name than his would appear on her wrist and he'd explain to her that he wasn't as madly in love with her as she was with him. That was life, she didn't always get what she wanted.
She'd been acting weird the entire first week of camp. This is something Ben had noticed. She'd started hanging out with Rose Tico more often than him, it had confused him. He knew they were friends but she always wanted to hang out with him. Now he felt like she was blowing him off. Yet, he was grateful. It allowed him to finish her birthday present. He was painting it, and it took more time than he thought it would but he knew it would be worth it.
He was recreating the first picture she ever gave him, on a larger scale. He was sure she'd love it.
__ As the minutes came closer to midnight Rey was practically burning a hole in the floor of the dorm she shared with Rose with her pacing. "Rey, would you relax!" Rose cried out. "Everything is going to be fine." "It just needs to be him Rose." She sighed. "It just has to." "I know, but if it isn't it's not the end of the world okay? He's still your best friend." "You're right." She looked at the time. 5 minutes until midnight. "Shit! I gotta go Rose, I'm meeting him." Rey ran out the door and into 'their' spot. Ben was already in there. He had snuck one of the brownies from the cafeteria and placed a candle inside of it. He was in the process of lighting it when she burst inside.
"Hey birthday girl." He said with a smile.
"Hey Ben." She said panting as she tried catching her breath. That's when she looked down at his wrist. Instead of his usual band bracelets that decorated his arms a single wide red ribbon was wrapped around it tied neatly in a bow. "What's that?" He looked at her shyly. "I told you, you'd be able to take a peek when you turned 16 didn't I?" He asked.
She looked at the time 11:59. Hesitantly she spoke. "Y-yeah." "I figured this would be a fun way of doing it, like a present!" He said. She could tell he was hiding something. She just didn't know what. That's when his phone alarm went off. It was midnight. She felt a tingling on her arm, under the long sleeved shirt she slept in. She didn't look. She couldn't look. "Happy birthday Rey." He held out his wrist towards her, the red ribbon hanging. Slowly, with trembling hands she took the ribbon in her hands delicately. Very carefully, she undid the ribbon letting it fall to the floor. There on his wrist was the name, printed in her messy scrawl of handwriting.
Rey Kenobi
Quickly, as if she didn't believe it herself she looked at the name on her own wrist.
Ben Solo
His name was written there in calligraphy, one of his many talents. Slowly she looked up at him in shock. "You knew," She muttered. "You knew all this time. That's why you didn't tell me."
"It makes sense now, doesn't it." Ben said slowly, he grabbed her shoulders and turned her around to look at a blank tarp covering the walls. "It's why I also made this." He reached around her, pulling the blank tarp down. She took in the image in front of her very carefully, looking at every beautiful detail he had made before turning around to face Ben. She reached up for his cheek and pulled him down to her level, encasing their lips in a kiss. The first of many. They were crying, as his hands pulled her as close as possible and she played with the hair at the base of his neck.
Behind them on the largest wall of 'their spot', the painted image of them smiled at each other. It was them now, no longer children, sitting on the beanbags hands intertwined with their wrists facing outwards, the names Ben Solo and Rey Kenobi, prominent for everyone to see and admire.
She was his, and he was hers.

a/n: hey guys! hope you enjoy a little bit of Parent! Reylo <3 my requests are always open :)
___
Ben Solo looked behind him, seeing his daughter Alba laying under a pile of a million blankets, asleep on the couch. The teenager had been having trouble falling asleep at night ever since they were quarantined, and forced to do school at home. He looked at the time, it was almost time for him to log onto zoom in order to have a conference with his English students. Normally, he was extremely quiet about his personal life. None of his students knew he had children, or even that the spunky art teacher Mrs. Rey Niima was his wife. He felt as if his students didn't need to know about them. While he did want to keep his personal life quiet, he knew he had to do this conference, and while he was mildly irritated with his daughter, he couldn't be and didn't have the heart to wake her up (besides Rey would kill him if he did). Looking back at the screen, he quickly logged on to zoom and set up the conference call while sending out an email with the code and password to his students.
One by one, his literature class began to join the call. It was quite awkward for him, and probably his students. He started the lesson by checking in on each of his students. Making sure they were okay with everything that was currently happening in the world and that they were adapting to online learning. Suddenly, the teenager behind him let out a loud groan following a loud thud. He chuckled softly before looking over his shoulder at his daughter who had just rolled off the couch.
"Mr. Solo, who is that?" One of the Junior's in his class asked him. The kid was nice, played on the football team, got good grades.
"The pile of blankets that just fell off my couch?" Ben said looking back to the computer. "That would be Alba."
"Alba is at your house?" One of the girls said shocked. "Do you know her or something?"
"I would hope so she is my child." Ben said.
"She can hear you Daddy." Alba said sitting up tiredly from the floor with an angry look on her face. She never was pleasant after waking up. The teen looked around her in a daze, almost as if she was confused as to where she was.
"What was that noise?" Rey said coming into the living room from her office. She was covered in paint and her hair was pulled into a messy bun.
"Your daughter." Ben said with a laugh.
"Holy shit is that Mrs. Niima?" One of the boys named Jeremy that Alba had deemed as a 'fuckboy' said. "What is she doing there?"
"This is my house." Rey said with a confused expression before walking towards her daughter who was still sitting on the floor. "Have a nice nap dear?"
"Yeah." Alba groaned. "Until I fell off the couch."
"She's my wife." Ben stated and watched as the boys eyes went wide.
"Mr. Solo has game!" Jeremy yelled.
"Be careful, that's my wife you're talking about." Ben said in a grumbly manner. He heard Rey and Alba snort behind him.
Slowly Alba got up (her million blankets and everything) and walked into the kitchen to get a snack. Rey following her.
"Dinner's postponed, Alba and I are gonna make a cake." She called out towards her husband, causing the students to laugh.
"Well. Guess I'm fending for myself tonight." Ben muttered to himself, looking back at his students who were all looking back at him in shock. "What."
"No offense Mr. Solo, but we definitely thought you were the type to just brood around and hate everything on your own time." Jeremy stated. "But, you definitely have a wife, whose smokin hot might I add, and a child that goes to school with us?"
"I do brood around hating everything, but I do it with Mrs. Niima who finds it quite attractive might I add." Ben stated raising his eyebrows. "As for your comment about my 'smoking hot wife' which although she might be, that was out of line and I expect a 500 word essay about respecting women in my inbox by tomorrow morning."
The rest of the class giggled silently and he began to explain their assignment for the next week. Considering he wasn't there teaching them physically and able to help as much as he could at the school he decided to slow things down and take everything one week at a time. After about a 50 minute period which was spent discussing their most recent book, and answering questions, he noticed Alba come back in the room with a slice of white cake.
"I didn't even touch it this time I swear" Alba stated reassuring her father. It wasn't a secret that she was horrible in the kitchen and had once accidentally put salt, rather than sugar into a batch once.
"Thank you for the reassurance dear." He said with a smile, setting the piece of cake on the table.
"Alright-" he said turning back to the camera. "Any last questions?"
"Is she single?" Jeremy whispered, awestruck at the girl. "Oh shit I thought I was muted. Bye Mr. Solo"
"I'm going to ignore that." Ben stated with a shake of his head, before ending the conference. "I'll see you guys next week. Take care"
