Formation of an ossified class of super-wealthy who extract their income from rents while most of humanity has to scrape by on precarious wages
Development of a backwards-looking culture that endlessly rehashes the supposed glories of the past whilst rejecting new innovation
Decline of central authority as power is seized by local warlords
Decline in literacy and learning as education becomes increasingly inaccessible to anyone but the very wealthy
Degradation of the ability of the state to perform even its basic functions due to generations of hollowing out by inward-turn rich elites
And, of course, epidemic diseases all over the place.
Yeah, I'm thinking dark age.

This piece of shit murderer pulled the trigger, but every Republican who has ever encouraged violence had their hand on his gun.
The domestic terrorists who live in the Fox News Cinematic Universe are so terrified, angry, and out of control, I fear this is only the beginning.

Maybe this is the wrong platform to pose this question given the average tumblr user but
Is it just me or did our generation (those of is who are currently 20-30 ish) just not get the opportunity to be young in the 'standard' sense?
Like, everyone I talk to who's over 40 has all their wild stories about their teens and 20s, being young and dumb, and then I talk to my friends and coworkers and classmates, and we just... dont.

i think what is so irritating to me about people bemoaning 'hookup culture' is that they're basically getting mad that other human beings aren't following thier own personal preferences. omg im suffering so much because people are doing whatever they want instead of what i want them to do. you could call this reactionary but on an even more fundamental level it's deeply pathetic

Ugh. I was sweating at work. It’s dropped about 30 degrees in about 12 hours and now I’m in sweats instead of sweating. It was so nice outside yesterday, and now I need to turn the furnace back on!
Something deeply painful is the fact that seasons, especially fall, dont feel the same. Not because of individual maturity but because climate change has impacted the weather patterns so so so much that we cant even experience the same annual shifts that our ancestors have for centuries
I feel displaced, i yearn for the spring, summer, fall, and winter that i can barely remember experiencing

I was born in the 70s. Nothing is the same.
Indiana. We used to get snow regularly in winter, but it was just snow. Enough to make snowmen at least a few times each season, but rarely enough to shut down travel. Now we don’t. Snow in the same area is less frequent, but when we do get snow, the last couple years we’ve had literal blizzards in areas where I’d never experienced one until just two years ago. Polar air being dragged down lower when it normally stays much farther north. Temps in the negative 20s (Fahrenheit). Winds up to 50 mph for days. Even my propane line and regulator to my firebox insert in the fireplace would chill enough to starve the fire to the point of dying. It shouldn’t, but it only happens when it’s that cold, and when I need it most to supplement the furnace. (Asked Siri: Propane stays gaseous at normal atmospheric pressure until it reaches about -44 F. So I guess the wind chill on the line must be that cold.)
Summer used to be steadily hot and humid for a month or so. Wild temperature swings didn’t happen often. Now we regularly get +-20 degrees F swings in 24 hours, especially during spring and fall.
Droughts are drier, storms are stronger, rain is heavier and lasts longer so we’ve had more flooding in some areas (it’s really flat in much of the Midwest so it can flood easily). Tornado season is either wildly frightening or nonexistent.
Used to see huge flocks of migratory birds. Thousands of lightning bugs. Butterflies and bees everywhere. Cardinals and wrens and sparrows would mob my bird feeder. Now I hardly see any. Except the fucking geese. It feels dead.
I worry about plants not being able to handle it, especially crops. I have had fruit bearing plants that should survive winter barely survive and not bear fruit due to the stress, or they just die outright. Sure, some will weather it, natural selection and all, but imagine losing, say, just 15% of all crops worldwide. It’d be disastrous. I read some time ago some farmers are uprooting almond trees and other fruit/nut trees because they can’t get enough water for them.
I’m glad I didn’t have any kids. I wouldn’t want them to live through what we’ve caused.

Hold the fuck on no way WW3 jokes are trending on Twitter when this is an extremely serious situation that’s threatening to destabilize an entire region. No way everyone’s gleefully looking at this as if it’s the grand show finale they’ve been waiting all along. There is no fucking way

“Oh this is wonderful, I should save it!”
For what? To look at? Clutter the cabinet? Dust when it gets dirty?
Use your nice stuff. Even if you use it up. That’s what it’s for! To enjoy!
And if you’re thinking “I might not be able to get any of this ever again” because the company went bankrupt, or it was a limited edition, or a one-of-a-kind homemade gift that can’t be copied…use it anyway. You may be sad it’s gone, but you will find other similar things, some of which you will love even more.
It’s like eating out. You can order the same thing over and over at the same places because it’s your favorite, but that’s monotonous and you might miss out on a terrific dish at the corner cafe that’s even better.

dude ADHD sucks so bad, it's like one of those audience input twitch streams where people can add new parameters to the game to screw you over for fun. "puddingtruck49 just paid 8 dollars to make you forget your debit card pin in the checkout line"

It's actually crazy talking to friends and relatives about what's going on because very few of them know that this is a retaliatory attack. I keep seeing people online call the attack unprovoked too.
So those who don't know, on April 1st Israeli warplanes bombed Iran's consulate in Damascus. The attack killed 7 of Iran’s military advisers including 3 senior commanders.
Reuters reporters at the site in the Mezzeh district of Damascus saw emergency workers clambering atop rubble of a destroyed building inside the diplomatic compound, adjacent to the main Iranian embassy building. Emergency vehicles were parked outside. An Iranian flag hung from a pole by the debris.
Iran's ambassador to Syria said the strike hit a consular building in the embassy compound and that his residence was on the top two floors. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement that seven Iranian military advisers died in the strike including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in its Quds Force, which is an elite foreign espionage and paramilitary arm.
This attack on the embassy is against international law. Embassies are protected sites. But instead of condemning the attack and putting pressure on Israel, the US has spent the past week and a half calling West Asian countries to put pressure on Iran, with Biden going as far as to warn Iran not to attack Israel and saying that his support for Israel is 'iron clad'.
The West, the UN, and UN Security Council have largely failed to condemn the attack which means Iran has no choice but to retaliate with force in order to prevent future attacks. Otherwise, the country will look vulnerable and weak, especially to the Israeli occupation government which has spent months bombing neighbouring countries like Syria and Lebanon

steadily recognizing that i’m allowed to exist in public spaces and not feel embarrassed about it… can you believe i used to feel weird about/too inadequate to sit on a bench in a public space. it’s ok. you’re allowed to be. just be. just sit on a bench. it’s ok
