Rumiko Takahashi: "For me, Sesshomaru is a father / parental figure (to Rin)" (March, 2021)

And that's canon. Finally, the author of Inuyasha herself has confirmed her interpretation of Sesshomaru and Rin's relationship as one of father figure/daughter. She could have said that she thought of them as a future couple, but she didn't. She could have said they were just "companions" or "friends" like some people want to interpret their relationship, but she didn't, because she doesn't see them that way. The word she used (Hogosha) is used in contexts related to parents and parental relationships. She had that in mind as she portrayed Sesshomaru and Rin's interactions, and that implies that:

Sesshomaru and Rin's interactions were never intended to be romantic.

The kimonos Sesshomaru gave Rin were NOT courtship gifts. They were gifts from a father to his daughter.

Sesshomaru never cared for Rin because he was in love with her, but because he loved her as his own daughter.

Jaken's taking care of Rin doesn't exclude Sesshomaru from being a father figure.

Sesshoumaru helped raise Rin and he never intended to marry her.

OG Sesshomaru is not a pedophile. He is a protector of children.

So yeah, it's official: they are father and daughter. The rest is a bad fanfic.

The Scars We Carry: Chapter 20

And we’re back! Thank you for all your patience during that little break. I’ll be focusing only on this story for the next little bit (aside from one secret work in progress that will post in January), so hopefully we can finish this story up before the spring.

And I’d be remiss not to thank everyone (again) for voting for this story over at The Feudal Connection. We won Best Drama! Thank you!

“He’s not worth worrying over,” he insisted, placing his palms on her thighs and squeezing lightly. She tried her best not to blush. “And if you keep worrying, I’ll hunt him down.”

“Don’t you dare.”

He chuckled and stroked his hands down her legs, fingers slowly crawling beneath the hems of her kimono before traveling back up. Izayoi tried to pout at the intrusion, annoyed at his continued threats against Takemaru’s life, but failed miserably in doing that— when his claws brushed against a winding scar high on one thigh, she shivered and bit her bottom lip, distracted. Trying to circumvent his intentions, she shuffled out of his grasp and leaned forward, laying across his chest and pinning her elbows on his pecs, tipping her cheek against one hand and poking his face marking with the other. Her legs splayed neatly on top of his.

“Is that all you want me for, now?” she teased. His lips curled in amusement, the tips of his fangs exposed briefly as his arms settled in the curve of her lower back.

“I’m tired of hearing his name on your lips instead of mine, is all,” he murmured, plainly looking at her mouth. Izayoi blushed scarlet, embarrassed at how easily he made her want to melt. 

“Toga…”

“Yes,” he smiled, and she was lost. “Just like that.”

Izayoi bit her bottom lip and tried to pout at the intrusion, but failed miserably in doing that; his touch against her bare skin was far too distracting. So instead she quickly shuffled out of his grasp and into a new position, trying to circumvent his intentions by laying across his chest. Izayoi tangled her legs over his and propped herself up with her elbows on his pecs, tipping her cheek against one hand and poking his face marking with the other.

“Is that all you want me for, now?” she teased. His lips curled in amusement, the tips of his fangs exposed briefly as his arms crossed and settled in the valley of her lower back.

“I’d rather hear you screaming my name than saying his, is all.”

If there was a way to burst a blood vessel by blushing, Izayoi proceeded to do just that.

so i whipped up a fat helping of inukag angst for the brilliant @fawn-eyed-girl​ for Chapter Four of her absolutely beautiful fic Eight Scars!

i’m so, so excited to post this one; i had the time of my life making it (my sister’s boyfriend watched in abject horror as I gleefully carved up Kagome’s ankle with blood and demon bile) and have been absolutely itching for the chapter to come out. not that i’m biased, but it’s my favourite!!
