He has a bow with him in the first fight against the red dragon, and he gets it again later when they go back to the spot and find their lost supplies, so I think absolutely everyone knows he's a good shot they're just graciously letting him keep saying he can't fight.

It's weird, because there's nothing weird or sinister going on in the surface here, but the tense music, the way she keeps flicking her nail with her finger, the super practiced formal hollow way she's talking, like a wannabe therapist "thank you for coming here today, thank you for expressing that" and so on...it really does give you the sense there's something going on under the surface that she's repressing, that this is a practiced facade, that she really wants to not be here. I don't know if I'm making up these vibes or not, but if I'm not, the show is really good at subtlely making her off putting, expressing that she's not what she seems.

We're on episode four: For Our Whole Lives? And now I'm realizing the reason Tomori insisted on Anon's band lasting their whole lives is she doesn't want to go through the trauma of the place she loves and belongs being taken away again.

It's not surprising Tomori blames herself for everything, but it's still very sad. And it does seem like Saki's reasons are mysterious to the others, so maybe there's a missing piece here.

It's at least good that many of Tomori's friends are checking on her and trying to comfort her.

Tomori, who's never been able to cry for things that other people cry for, cries at the loss of her band that made her feel like she belonged and the friends who were so important to her.

I guess that's why they're named Crychic! After her tears!

A sad story, but a fascinating look at what makes Tomori tick and what led us to the story we have today. Also I have to share Crunchyroll's top comment on the ep, which is good for once:

So is this really when Saki quit and destroyed the band, apparently after one performance? Because Tomori recieved some mild criticism from an internet rando in the midst of a torrent of the most effusive praise in my life? Girl, what did you think would happen when you thrust yourself into the public eye? Have you spent a single second on Twitter or YouTube before this?

I feel there has to be more to it than this, though I guess it could be that Saki's that rejection sensitive but I want to see what informs that. Was she worried they'd get more of these kinds of comments and it would hurt Tomori?
