Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!

the hobbit characters reacting to a reader who is sensitive to yelling
A.N: I hope this was okay! I had a hard time with this (considering the fact that it’s been in my drafts since March) so I hope you like it!!
Requested by anon: Hey, i was just wondering, since your requests are open, if you'd like to do a headcanon sort of thing? I'm really sensitive to people yelling, I will literally cover my ears and shut my eyes as tight as possible when someone yells, even if it isn't directed at me. How would some of the Hobbit characters react to that? specifically Fili and Kili. (I love your work btw!!)
thorin
He's very aware of his surroundings and those under his leadership. When he sees you sitting there, clenched into a ball with your eyes and ears covered, he stops talking immediately. He’ll quickly use his ‘kingly scowl’ to calm everyone else who was yelling down. He won’t be sure if you’d want to be touched or not, so he’ll sit a little far away from you at first, unsure if you’re mad at him, but his presence calms you nonetheless.
fíli
He understands your reaction. Fíli is a quiet, calmer person born into a family of loud people. When he notices you, he’ll come sit next to you, and when he thinks it’s ok he’ll put an arm around you and let you bury your face in his chest to block everything out. His hands will trace soothing circles on your back until you’re ok. But if you don't want anyone near you, he'll usher everyone away and let you have some space- but he'll always be very close nearby in case you need him. Fíli hovers, so the minute you make a sound he’ll be right back by your side.
kíli
It might take Kíli a few minutes to notice you hunched up in the corner with your eyes squeezed tight and hands over your ears, but once he does he’s very apologetic. He wants to make sure that you’re okay, but doesn’t know if you want him close, so he’ll tap you on the shoulder and then sit a few feet away, silent, as you start to feel better. If this happened at night, Kíli knows that looking at the stars always makes you feel safe and so he’ll bring you outside, with a blanket, and you’ll just lay there together.
bilbo
Bilbo will shush everyone making noise and shoo them all out of the room. He’s Bilbo, so he’ll have your comfort food ready to go and once you’ve unclenched your eyes and uncovered your ears he’ll hand you a plate and get you out to his garden as quickly as possible, and just meander around the soothing nature with you. He’ll point out your favorite flowers, and maybe even braid some into your hair.
dwalin
He gets extremely protective over you, and will throw whoever was yelling out of the room. He’ll get gruff when he’s trying to comfort you, but he puts an arm around you and sits with you. Dwalin will want you to not be focusing on that, so when you’re calm enough he’ll try to distract you, which somehow ends up in him attempting to dance with you. Dwalin is shockingly good (it’s the warrior’s balance) and you’re not even thinking about it anymore as he whirls you around the room.
