It's unhinged to assume that someone's taste in fiction equates to what they believe is moral or good, or is something they want to see or experience in real life.

That is a bonkers assumption to make.

I'm tired of humoring people with long arguments about it when the simple fact is it is a totally fucking absurd reach to accuse someone who enjoys something in fiction of being in favor of it in real life.

I'm tired of pretending like this is a legitimate position to hold-- that they should be afraid of fiction's dire influence on a reader's moral decay or that it's a sign of what the author secretly wants for realsies in real life.

realistically I don't think the new rome university experience would be fun for percy or annabeth but its really not going to be fun for annabeth cause like imagine a small, competitive, close-knit college of "rome is best" students who come from a society that their gods so rarely interact with that it frequently doesn't happen within their own lifetimes vs 1 (one) daughter of Athena that grew up taking field trips to visit the olympians and has already been actively redesigning mt. olympus for the past couple of years. like they're literally going to hate her so much im so sorry.

I’m sure it IS unpleasant. Though I always wonder if that’s for the stereotypical reason (he’s traumatized and sad) or for other reasons.

His thoughts move too quickly compared to others

His mind is compartmentalized and there are several discrete thoughts happening all at the same time

It’s hard to break his concentration so getting inside his mind is already difficult and draining

Staying inside once his mind reacts to J’onn’s intrusion is even more difficult

His mind actively fights J’onn even when he’s invited in/welcome

Half of his thoughts are data/numbers

He thinks in and out of various foreign languages which can be hard to follow

He shields various thoughts so it’s like walking down a cold corridor where all of the doors are slamming shut as you approach

There’s a low-level stress/inflammation in his mind at any given time, entirely unrelated to past trauma, and it makes J’onn exhausted by proxy

odysseus absolutely does present a threat to penelope if he perceives her as at all unfaithful, and i feel the unfairness of this, and i think people tend to undersell how much tension at least potentially exists between odysseus and penelope. but i'm also like. his reaction, all speculation aside, his actual reaction in the odyssey to her flirting with the suitors is delight, because he immediately ascertains that she is running a con. sorry that they're so in-sync in spite of the forces that try to drive a wedge between them, including their own misgiving hearts. sorry that they invented homophrosyne ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
