Hi!! It’s been months since I first learnt about this, and there’s something I still don’t understand about what Ada was saying which is — do we have to literally ignore circumstances to make them go away? As in, not getting emotionally involved with them anymore, or just shut out the thoughts of it every time they come up? as I understood, a situation is only kept alive because you either identify with it, or because you pay attention to the “reality” of it
Though I’m pretty sure I got it right but, just wanted to make sure 💀 thanks for archiving her posts by the way, they’ve been helping me a lot
You’re welcome <3
I mean, if nothings exists but you, how much attention do you need to give an apparency? Don’t do anything to the thoughts, let them pass, they’re irrelevant. What I’ve been doing nowadays is thinking the worst thoughts as a challenge. To prove to myself they have no power when I know myself to be who I am. Nothing bad happened, never will. I like doing it because it gives me a certain kind of power when in the past I used to fear them. I do it on purpose, like "do your worst" kind of thing to my own mind. It’s been proven harmless and the thoughts worthless.
What materializes/exists is only what you are. Esentially nothing if you don’t know yourself to be a person, somewhere. But you’ve always known yourself as something. Choose a different thing, resistance (and urgency) only comes up when you go back to trying to make it happen in the world instead of just being it.
Neville again since the masses love him:

Tldr; yeah, ignore it! but from the place of knowing who your real self is, not a forcing meant to soothe the ego <3 you know the difference in your feeling: do you feel calm/superior or jittery and unsure? good way to check where you’re coming from when doing anything.

Hello! Sometimes when “I” tell the ego that “I am not her” or “ I have everything I want” , the ego get this sharp in her heart. I don’t know if that is her body rejecting these ideas or that she strongly believes that she is real. However, it has started to hurt so bad that I can not help to identify with the body. Could this be explained for some reason or is it because I am aware of the pain that it shows up.
Ofc she believes she is real bc as long as you are identified with her she will be. She IS. She exists.
Love her, accept her. Completely and fully. But disregard her desires and fears because they are not you or of yours. Be free of her confusion and softly remind yourself of who you are. Let her be.
She is not hindering you, but doing her best with what she knows. And you have the knowledge of the REAL you, so if you want to change things about her, be aware of things being changed, don't consult with her about it, simply let her be & you do you.
Feel the pain and let it go... surrender 💟

“Personal suffering stems from unconsciously internalizing, clinging or reacting to a ‘believed in’ idea/story (distorted perception of reality) strongly held in the mind. This prevents you from truly knowing who you are. You can experience pain in your life but you don’t have to ‘suffer’ the pain.”

the ego doesn’t exist. It’s not a person nor an entity or anything like that. It’s just a longtime held onto perception. It’s just a pile of ideas, concepts, states of mind, thoughts and feelings that we’re clung to and built upon like a castle of cards. It was never you. It was never truly real. It seemed to be because you were it. It cannot exist without you knowing yourself as it.

I don't understand. Bloggers are saying to disregard the senses. I do and nothing happens, no matter how much I continue in my knowing... what am I doing wrong?
"Disregard the senses"???
Tumblr media
Do you not realize what that is saying is just loa repackaged.... "ignore the 3D", basically.
3D = world
You are aware of the world, world IS.
Senses are part of the body. You are aware of the body -> body is and its seeing is PERFECT AND FINE. Ignore senses why? You are making them be, they ARE. You are the knower of those TOO if you are the knower of the body. You made senses the enemy now for some reason? Why? They exist through your awareness, they are just part of the body.
If you're not seeing what ego wants is simply because you're aware of yourself living in a world you don't want. Senses are totally under your dominion like everything else. You suddenly separated them for the body and started asking questions about them, to which I'm confused on what kind of answers besides what I've just said you could have gotten.

So, an excellent way of life is to know this, and to attempt to establish the consciousness of “I am not the body; the body is just a puppet,” and allow the body to go its way. It doesn’t matter what it does. Just let it go its way, and then work becomes sort of automatic. You become detached from it, and therefore, it goes on far better than it ever did before. When we allow the body to go through the work, it will do the work far better, because we are getting the ego-concept of ‘I’, the limited ‘I’, out of the way. And the more we practice that, the more we establish it.
Until now, most of us have been trying to make life better, which is excellent. But a good life is a limited life. If everything were good in your life now, it’s like living with golden chains around you, where before you had rusty iron chains binding you. You become bound with golden chains, but you’re still bound. As happy as you’ll get with life getting better, as it has been getting better, you’ll reach points where you’ll say, “Oh, my gosh, I’m so miserable. Did I slip?” No, you didn’t slip everything you’ve gained, you still have. But you’re still identifying with being a limited being, with being an ego, with being a body, with this world being real. The only way out of difficulties with the world is knowing you are not the body.
Now, if you’re going to have troubles in the future, remember that you are identifying with the ego. You could have your life a thousand times better than it is now, and you’ll be dissatisified if you’re taking your pleasures from the world, from life, from living, rather than just being what you are and just taking it directly. Our pleasures must be taken directly, not attributed to things outside of ourselves. Then joy is constant and never tainted by sorrow, and that’s the natural state.
I think what I’m stressing tonight is, “Be not the body.” Continue to make life happier as you have been doing, but emphasize now being not the body, and you’ll be even happier. You’ll reach states where you just can’t contain it; you’ll feel as though you’re going to burst from the joy. Not being used to this newfound joy, sometimes it’s hard to contain. I remember walking for days, trying to walk it off. I’d get these realizations, and I’d get so— it was hard to breathe, almost, I was so full of new joy coming in all the time. I’d keep walking and walking and walking until I got used to it. Then I learned how to put it all in the background and let it resolve into that beautiful peace that passes all understanding. Peace is a more comfortable state than joy, but it’s a peace that’s more joyous than joy, if you can imagine that.
All right, now, the key to getting to this state is to discover each time that the joys you get in life just allow you to be your self, by the squelching of thoughts of need and desire, by satisfying them. You satisfy a desire, the thoughts quiet, and you feel better. Don’t attribute that joy to the thing out there that you’ve got or the person out there that you’re with. That joy is nothing but your very own self pushing through more: you’re allowing it to be seen more by you. So, the object should be to recognize that all joy is nothing but the Self—more or less—that we wrongly attributed it to something outside of ourselves. Now, this is the key to constant joy with no sorrow.

Hi I remember in one of your posts you said you got rid of a family member, I wanted to know so now it's like he never existed? No one even knows/remember about him, just you?
no i just had him have no contact with me. when he calls or sees me now, its only abt something good, its like all the old experiences had no marking (cause they dont!)
That is because you recreate the world every day from memory. There is no yesterday but your memory of it. There is no tomorrow but your thought of it. - 4dbarbie

some questions from lester levenson's 'happiness is free' book
most of these questions require you to write down a list of all your desires/beliefs and answer the questions related to them.
could i let go of wanting to get happiness from [insert item] and allow myself to rest as the happiness i am?
am i willing to live in a world with no problems?
when you see a problem: what frustrated ego desire is causing this problem?
then, you ask yourself: could i let go of wanting that?
would i rather fit in or would i rather be free?
can i turn [desire] into a desire for freedom?
would i rather have the desire or would i rather be free?
am i longing for the desire or to get out of pain?
can i let go of wanting to change this and let it be as it is?
would i rather believe in freedom or be the freedom that i've always believed in?
could i let go of [belief]?
would i rather believe in [the belief] or know the truth?
would i rather believe in [the belief] or be the truth?
these questions are about non-love emotions
could i change this feeling to love?
could i allow myself to love [thing] as much as i do?

i wasn't gonna add anything to this pic but i think I'll say one thing. a lot of you think that there's some ecstasy high that you'll get when you realise Self. maybe you think it's magical? or that's its some explosion wow moment
maybe for some it is like that. but i like this quotes wording better
“Enlightenment is a destructive process. It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier. Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruth. It’s seeing through the facade of pretense. It’s the complete eradication of everything we imagined to be true.” - adyashanti
i've thought about how to explain what you'll feel when you're Self.
i used to think of it as "it's as you are now but you see the world differently vs it's love + bliss"
but i think both of them can exist. nothing is gonna change except your attitude and understanding of the world. with that understanding comes the love and peace. but maybe instead of some high, it might just be a background feeling for you.
going back to my first point, i think that you look for something to be enlightened. like you're trying to enlighten the mind or body? which you can't do...
this isn't about adding on anything. there's no adding on the experience of enlightenment on to the achievements of the person.
“Awakening doesn’t mean ‘you’ awaken. It means that there is only awakening. There is no 'you’ who is awake; there is only awakeness. As long as you identify with a 'you’ who is either awake or not awake, you are still dreaming. Awakening is awakening from the dream of a separate you into simply being awakeness” - adyashanti

"This basic identity — you may call God, or Brahman, the words matter little — is only the realisation that all is one. Once you can say with confidence born from direct experience: 'I am the world, the world is myself', you are free from desire and fear on one hand and become totally responsible for the world on the other." – Nisargadatta Maharaj

hey 🤍
since I am awarness or “” then I can assume the form of anything. I think that my “problem” was seeing the experience as real instead of an illusion that can change at any moment. I have to experience it though, because I’ve been consuming without applying and I know that the only way to realise this is by trying myself. I am a little scared of it not “working” (using that for a lack of better worlds), not because it can fail but because of me
I'm not sure what you mean by it "working" or not but it's all up to you, there is nothing else.
One of my favourite quotes from Nisargadatta Maharaj:
The mind will rebel in the beginning, but with patience and perseverance, it will yield and keep quiet. Here patience is wisdom; don’t think of failure. There can be no failure in this undertaking.

it is not necessary to get rid of thoughts, images or ideas; just cease deriving your sense of identity from them.
