Hayley’s Assistance Dog Update.
Hi there. Let me start with a huge THANK YOU to all those who contributed to the GoFundMe page to help us afford a pup for Hayley. We were already looking but when we knew we would have the dollars we put a more serious effort in and have found and ordered a pup. The little girl has a family history of therapy and assistance dogs including her mum who still works for Hope For Our Children as a…

How Is Hayley Going?
How Is Hayley Going?
A 2022 Summary and Request For Help, Please? Started really well, actually. Hayley started High School. That’s right, Our baby started Year 7. She was loving it too, until she wasn’t. Background story time… We have suspected for a long time that Hayley was on the spectrum (Autism Spectrum Disorder – ASD) but received no help or support on the subject. As her current psychologist put it “Another…

The Comedy Gallery Part 3 of 3
The Comedy Gallery Part 3 of 3
So where are they now?…   Yes, The Comedy Gallery has been pretty quiet over the last few years. With our last venture for young Meika and her family Check poster in last blog or even the blog called The Comedy Gallery For Meika). The usual suspects jumped in to help. Sadly, I couldn’t get to that one as I have moved to Queensland. I still had fun with the poster design. The last thing I did…

The Comedy Gallery Part 2 of 3
The Comedy Gallery Part 2 of 3
Over the years The Comedy Gallery was also part of several Melbourne International Comedy Festivals. Doing sketch comedy and stand up, teaming up with many amazing people. During the festival, Dale and I couldn’t run our Williamstown night so good friend, actor, comedian and funny man, Pete Flaherty stepped in to run the nights. In late 2013 The Comedy Gallery heard about a 5 year old girl named…

The Comedy Gallery Part 1 of 3.
The Comedy Gallery Part 1 of 3.
I meant to write this one last month. 10 years ago in May 2011, The Comedy Gallery was born.  I had been away from stand up comedy for a little while so I thought I’d head back to Pete Crofts Humourversity to see Pete and get a little practice in before returning straight to the stage. A painting of Pete Crofts (on right) that I got my very talented Father In Law Steve (on left) to…

Goodbye Paint Shop.
13th March 2021 I finished work at the paint shop. 30th July 1990 I started my first full time job. I worked for Haymes Paint in their Ballarat shop. That would be 31 years ago this year. Haymes opened a new shop in Frankston and I got to move out of home at the age of 20 and move several hours away to work in the new shop. Unfortunately, that shop lasted 1 month short of 3 years and then I was…

My 5 Year Story
My 5 Year Story
Well here is My 5 Year Story and my 7 week update. (for anyone who has time for a read) May 2016: I hit the heaviest (99kg/218 pounds) and widest (waist 113cm/44.5 inches) I have ever been in my life. Partially, deliberately. I had written a short film called Not Yet about a guy who gets cancer. I was playing that character and the goal was to be 2 days of filming with 6 months in between so that…

Not A New Year Resolution, Just New(ish).
Not A New Year Resolution, Just New(ish).
Personally I don’t believe in the whole New Year Resolution thing. I think it is a powerful way of setting yourself up for disappointment. Changing the calendar on the wall doesn’t really change anything else. So many memes at the moment about 2021 not being better than 2020, well der! If you actually want things to get better then YOU need to make things better. Changing the calendar isn’t…

Depression Is A Funny Thing.
Depression Is A Funny Thing.
Depression Is A Funny Thing, it must be. Comedians have been sharing their tales of woe to laughing audiences for many years. I did a comedy show 3 years ago called Andrew Brown – The Most Boring Name In Entertainment. In that I talked about becoming a father at 19 years old. Not knowing where my son lived, alcohol issues in my early 20’s and even a little bit about my daughter’s journey with…

My July, Definitely Not a Dry July. Part 2 of 2.
My July, Definitely Not a Dry July. Part 2 of 2.
The strangest thing to me in my quarantine was my calmer than normal, mental state. Especially when considering the events leading up to it (Read my last 2 Blogs). As someone who has been diagnosed with depression, I really didn’t experience any in that 2 weeks. There were some rougher moments. But we all have those. I strongly recommend that everyone should try this level of isolation. No…

My July, Definitely Not a Dry July. Part 1 of 2.
My July, Definitely Not a Dry July. Part 1 of 2.
I know I only posted my June update at the end of July and my last BLOG was a big part why. Here is what happened next.
When I left Queensland for Victoria to be with family, there were no restrictions flying in or out. Just some extra paperwork to say that I wasn’t sick. Then there was a bit of a COVID-19 spike in Victoria which meant different paperwork. Then it was announced that on Friday 3rd…

My Little Brother Pete.
My Little Brother Pete.
On Saturday 27th June, 2020 My little brother Pete, who had just turned 41, suffered a bleed on his brain and collapsed at his breakfast table. On Sunday 28th he was officially pronounced gone. Living 2 states away it was Monday before I could get down there to be with family.
The Organ Donor people had spoken to Pete’spartner and others over the weekend and Monday he was to donate. He was then…

June, 4 Month, JB and Me Update.
June, 4 Month, JB and Me Update.
Sorry it’s late. Will talk about that in the next Blog.
One of my inspirations to get started on this journey was seeing a photo my son took a photo of me using his VR headset back in December 2019.  It took until late Feb 2020 to start but I DID start. At the end of June I recreated that photo:-

The Summary of Hayley's Journey After Cancer.
The Summary of Hayley’s Journey After Cancer.
Well here we are in June 2020. 4 years ago in June 2016 my beautiful little girl Hayley (also know as Warrior Princess, Catgirl, Batgirl and 1 very amazing gentleman I know named Coombesy calls her his Hero) was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma. A fairly rare type of soft tissue cancer that presented itself as a 5cm tumour, filling her nasal cavity. For more details, look at my older…

May Update or 3 Month Update.
May Update or 3 Month Update.
Someone asked recently “How Is Hayley Going?” So that will be the next Blog. The Summary of Hayley’s Journey After Cancer. Until then it’s back to me, me, me… lol.
There is to be an amendment to the blog The JB and Me Challenge. With the use of a calculator and looking at Body Fat Percentages and other things, it seems that me reaching 75kg as planned would actually be unhealthy. So Jacksonstill…

April Update or 2 Month Update.
April Update or 2 Month Update.
Still moving in the right direction. Most of the time. I missed my Move Ring target of 2,500 kilojoules (598 calories) 6 times, all in the last half of the month. Twice I didn’t even hit last month’s 2,000 kilojoules (478 calories) target. I missed the Exercise Ring target 4 times. If it was easy to hit every time the there is no challenge. Also a lesson, Don’t beat yourself up over yesterday’s…

Natalie’s YouTube is BACK!
Natalie’s YouTube is BACK!
My very funny, talented and clever Natalie launched her YouTube channel at the end of last year. She posted a few times over December and January and then year 11 school started. So sadly she ran out of time to do more.
Well, she’s back with a post from her trip to Melbourne earlier this year.
A few people have told me that it’s cool how we’ve done this. Please allow me to correct this…
