When he's concerned that she jumped from his roof to the pool, when she tells him she wants to be with Javier bc he's the hacker and when he noticed she wasn't going to accept his motives that easily -all times was when he was worried.

So, it seems like WOTC hired an AI artist for their latest book (Glory of the Giants). The "artist" (in their social media) openly advertises themself as an AI "artist".

I guess the whole OGL mess and sending the Pinkertons wasn't enough, they had to reach a new low. Fantastic timing, gotta say, all while GenCon (the biggest TTRPG con) is currently ongoing.

One of my favorite things about learning about traditional textiles is the little ghosts they left in the language. Of course the ghosts are there, now that I know to look for them. Once upon a time, half the population spent a majority of their day making textiles. Spinning, at the very least, has been a part of humanity since the Neanderthals. That kind of knowledge doesn't just disappear.

A heckle was a device with sharp metal spikes, and people drag flax through the spikes to separate out the fibers from the chaff. When you say someone heckled a performer, you think you are being literal but you're speaking in an ancient metaphor.

When my grandpa says "spinning yarns" to mean telling stories, he knows that one's not quite literal, but its vividness is lost to him. There is no image in his mind of rhythm, muscle memory, and the subtle twist that aligns clouds of fibers into a single, strong cord.

When a fanfic writer describes someone carding their fingers through someone's hair, that's the most discordant in my mind. Carding is rough, and quick, and sometimes messy (my wool is full of debris, even after lots of washing). The teeth of my cards are densely packed and scratchy. But maybe that's my error, not the writer's. Before cards were invented, wool was combed with wide-toothed combs, and sometimes, in point of fact, with fingers. The verb "to card" (from Middle English) may actually be older than the tools I use, archaic as they are. And I say may, because I can't find a definitive history. People forget, even when the language remembers.

It's not about platonic relationships and you know it.

At this point, the haters are hating, and the show's people are cosigning it. So, que será será. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I hadn't heard anything about viewers wanting more depictions of platonic relationships on tv until now. And I find it all very odd. I won't speculate on it too much, but their reasonings for it have no basis or merit. But okay, the showrunners said there will be no romance, but then they added a love interest. Could be that they were asked to add it? I don't know.

Bottom line, because I don't really have the energy to debate this and the show is really good despite all the hoopla over romance, it's not even about that; people have been shipping characters for forever. Now all of a sudden we should question it because of this particular popular show and push for more platonic relationships. Hmmm.

I don't watch shows for romantic subplots, I don't look for it, but as an objective viewer I do notice romantic chemistry between characters if it hasn't already been established. Most people notice romantic chemistry and they ship them. It's perfectly fine and should not change how you watch a show. You either love it or you don't. I just find all the negativity of this SydCarmy ship very disconcerting. There was clearly something there but naysayers choose to be blind to it. That's fine, whatever. Just don't tell me I'm delusional because I am not.

The discourse is great for marketing but it leaves a sour taste in one's mouth.

I like that Tumblr is mostly a safe space for people with common sense and decency because Twitter and Reddit have run amuck with haters. I don't think I'll be saying much more on the subject, I don't care what the show does with these characters. I will still watch it because I like it and there is so much more to these incredible cast of characters. I'll just enjoy all the SydCarmy posts on here because it's cute, and accurate. 🙂
