Hi! So sorry to bother you, I was just wondering if you could help me out. I've lucid dreamed before, but lately when I become aware that I'm dreaming, I wake up only moments later. It's frustrating, do you have any tips?
First of all, great job!
Next: practice, practice, practice!
You must relax. You must remain calm. I know it's hard not to get excited haha
It's going to take a bit but you should look into some grounding techniques like -- rubbing your hands together.
When you become lucid, I would suggest taking your time and touching things - sink into the dream.
As you get better at grounding, you'll find that it becomes easier and easier not to wake up. You'll become more at ease in the dream.
The more lucid dreams you have the better you will become at staying lucid in the dream without waking up. Just remember, again, relax and touch things. Also, asking out loud "more clarity" should help tremendously. This usually stabilizes the dream for me.
When a dream seems like it is going to end, try spinning in circles. This should help you continue dreaming (results may vary lol).

Dudeo! I hate cleaning my room, do you have an getting-things-done tips? I feel emotionally crippled by fear.
Start with one small thing at a time. First get out of bed. Next stretch. Next, pick up one piece of clothing -- one little piece. Wow look how much you've done already! You're doing great.
Look out your window, is it sunny, is it cloudy? Good job on observing the weather.
Keep going, one little thing at a time. And you know what? It's okay if you don't clean for a while. Having a dirty place and a clean place are two sides of the same coin -- just try not to lean too far to one side.
Cleaning is a wonderful meditation and probably shouldn't become a fixation. Messing things up is a part of creativity and cleaning is part of resetting your canvas.

Hey, LL. I'm passionate about lucid dreaming! So far I only really remember to do reality checks throughout the day and when I have nightmares, well, when the intense fear mounts, the dream stops. It just ends. I want to do cool stuff in the dream though, is that possible? Also, I'm not sure if I've asked you this before but do you have a booklist/list of apps you recommend for dream work?
Lucid dreaming by Stephen Laberge
Lucid dreaming gateway to the inner self by Robert Waggoner
I recommend an app called "dreams" for dream journaling.
You must remain calm in your dreams. Some people refer to this as "grounding". Look around, touch things, rub your hands together.
If you are having a nightmare then you are not having a lucid dream. When you truly become lucid there is no such thing as a nightmare.
People seem to be in this paradoxical state of being afraid yet understanding it's a dream. Why are you afraid if you truly understand that YOU'RE dreaming?
Once I understood what being lucid in a dream was -- I never had a dream where I was aware that it was a dream and it was, at the same time, a "lucid" nightmare. It's one or the other for me. You need to be fully aware and fully understand that this dream belongs to you, comes from you, IS you. Nothing can hurt you inside of your own reality bubble.
One way to overcome this is by letting whatever is going to happen, happen. Stand firm in your dream. You can be afraid. But don't look away and don't move. I bet you that your dream won't hurt you.
Practice becoming aware in your dreams and then practice becoming aware in your nightmares.

Hey, LL Cool T. :P Have you ever been encouraged to be a psychologist?
Yes, a lot actually. My mom especially thinks that I'm her phycologist -- she tells me all of the time. I keep her calm and remind her that she's dying. Anything she says I pretty much counter it with -- well at least one day we won't be here. Lol
It's funny how much we forget that none of this is forever.

Hopefully, the more attention you give your dreams, the more they will start to make sense, reveal and unravel themselves to you.

Share your dreams with the people who are close to you! But be sure that no one forces their views on anyone else; give your opinion about the dream as if it were your own but, respect the original dreamers space.

Added some updates! Links etc.
Do you have a step-by-step instruction guide on how to lucid dream? Sorry if I asked this question before or if someone else did.
It's okay! No worries.
1. Dream journal. Work on remembering at least one dream every night. I have an app called *Dreams* on my phone. It lets you customize and record dream signs. I would purchase Stephen Laberges book: Exploring the world of Lucid dreaming. It's super informative and it breaks down how to categorize dream signs! Dream signs are important for the next step.
2. Reality checking. This is something that lots of Lucid dreamers take for granted -- myself included. When you do a reality check, it should be very mindful. We shouldn't check and assume that we are awake; we will do the exact same thing in our dreams. We should stop what we're doing, look around and then do a RC. Next, what kind of reality check should we do? My favorite is trying to push my index finger through my palm. Some people hold their noses and try to breathe, whatever RC works for you is what you should use. Try them all out. Lastly, you want to do reality checks in accordance with your dream signs! Dream signs vary, they can be recurring situations, emotions and even characters. But, you should be able to spot a pattern in your Dreams after several months of journaling. When you see a dream sign or something that resembles or reminds you of your dream sign, you should do a RC! That's the most effective way to hack your lucid dreams.
3. Induction techniques. My favorite, and probably the most reliable technique, is MILD -- Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dreaming. You will need to build up your prospective memory, which isn't that difficult (check out Stephen Laberges method on building prospective memory). You should mix this with reality checks and dream signs, to make it more effective. For example, if you constantly see animals in your dreams, you will stop and try to put your finger through your hand every time you see an animal in waking life. And you should constantly build upon how many dreams signs you can remember at a time -- this is how you work on your prospective memory. So, you see animals and always seem to be in a parking lot in your dreams, that's two dream signs; that's two reality checks that you will need to remember to do if you see these triggers in your waking life -- try to get up to 5! While falling asleep you should remind yourself: if I see an animal or a parking lot OR an animal in a parking lot, I will recognize that I'm dreaming. You can repeat this to yourself while falling asleep in the beginning of your night or after waking up and returning to sleep.
The other part of MILD is done upon waking or while falling asleep or both; you'll repeat to yourself, "The next time I'm dreaming, I will realize that I'm dreaming." You can even repeat this throughout your day. What I meant by "upon waking" is to wake up earlier than you normally would (5.5 hours give or take -- 4.5 would be more in the realm of WILD) and then while returning to sleep you remind yourself that you will be dreaming soon. Technically this is called the Wake Back to Bed (WBTB) method but.. yeah lol
Hopefully I didn't miss anything! This short tutorial should help you get started. Also, it takes practice and patience. It took me around 3 months to have a 10 second long lucid dream, don't beat yourself up if it doesn't work within that time span. Also, having one lucid dream a month is considered to be a lot! If you manage to pull it off but then can't do it for a while -- this is normal. Just go with the flow ❤️

(Oh yeah! This process is customizable! Feel free to tweak any part.)
