Unexpected Interference: Chapter 1
“Welcome, everyone, to this wonderful time of celebration!” BadBoyHalo exclaimed, as he smiled wide, facing the crowd.
BadBoyHalo’s attire consisted of a black suit and dress pants, along with a white collared shirt, and a wine-colored bowtie. His halo above his head gleamed in the sunlight.
“Today, we will share in the joys of their union, both with the outward celebration of this wedding, and the internal appreciation for the love that encapsulates everyone on this island!”
Cellbit and Roier’s wedding ceremony had just begun, as silence slowly filled the area.
The ceremony spot was a meadow where flowers grew in abundance, some of which have been used for a flower arch at the end of the walkway, where Bad, Cellbit and Roier stood, Bad standing behind the soon-to-be-weds.
“Cellbit, Roier, you both have this amazing opportunity to build your life together. You’re quite lucky to share this experience with everyone who has come today to support this milestone you two have reached.”
Cellbit looked at Roier, as Bad continued the speech. He couldn’t take his eyes off him.
Roier was wearing the most elegant dress Cellbit had ever seen. The dress was floor length, and its sleeves began just below his shoulders, ending just above the wrists. There was a faint floral pattern that seemed to have been sewn into it.
Roier couldn’t take his eyes off of Cellbit either. He was wearing a navy blue suit, with a white collared shirt underneath. Above the suit he wore a midnight blue blazer, which, if Roier looked close enough, he swore he could see small specks of white, like the night sky.
“I hope that you all will remember this ceremony with fondness and happiness, for this day is one that Roier and Cellbit are to be bound together through love.” Bad continued.
“Now, it has been a few years since I have done this, so…” Bad admitted, before flipping through the script he had written for himself.
“Ah! Does the… bride’s parents give their blessing for this wedding?” Bad asked, as he turned to face Foolish and Vegetta.
Foolish and Vegetta looked between each other, before nodding.
“We do.” Foolish replied, letting a smile pass his face.
“Wonderful! I do not believe any objections would be made today, considering how… vocal the groom has been about getting married.” Bad quipped, quietly giggling to himself.
The crowd laughed along with Bad, as quiet, but joking, protests came from Cellbit.
“Anyways. I would like everyone to keep in mind that while this is an occasion for lots of joy, and happiness, the promises made here are serious and life altering decisions.”
Bad looked between Cellbit and Roier.
“Alright, you two. It’s time for exchanging vows. Cellbit, would you like to begin?”
Cellbit jumped a small bit, looking at Bad, before looking down, as his face flushed.
“Oh- O-okay, alright.”
Cellbit took a deep breath in.
“Roier, today is uh, today’s the day! We’re getting married! I’ve been.. Uhm… thinking about this ever since it was decided. I honestly didn’t really think we’d come this far without another interference, haha, kind of expected to get kidnapped again before the wedding..” Cellbit said, laughing a little at the last bit.
Roier laughed along.
“I’m.. I’m such a lucky man to have you by my side, and I promise to always be there for you. I vow myself to be honest, and caring towards you. I promise to grow with you, and stay alongside you through our highs and our lows, and when we get off this island, maybe we can live together, too. I give you my hand, my heart, and all of my love, from today and beyond.”
Roier’s cheeks lit up with red, as he looked away.
“Roier, it’s your turn.” Bad spoke, looking over to Roier.
“O-Oh! Uhm.. Well, I’ve.. I’ve thought about this, I think. You’ve been here by my side, as much as you could. You were worried for me when Bobby passed. I wish I could better word my appreciation for you, but it extends far beyond any word I could use. I want to stay with you, till my dying days, live, laugh, and love with you. I swear to keep you safe, and when we get off of this cursed island, then I’ll keep you safe there too. I give you all of my love, every ounce of it, from today until the end of time.”
Cellbit’s face, like Roier’s, is filled with red.
“Aww! That was so cute!” Bad cooed, the smile he held growing brighter.
“Alright. Cellbit, Roier, join hands for me.”
Roier gently took Cellbit’s hands in his, using one of his hands to turn Cellbit’s head towards him.
“Cellbit, do you take Roier as your wonderfully wedded spouse? Do you take him as your partner in life, through the highs and lows, through sickness and through health, for the rest of your days?”
Cellbit took a deep breath.
“I do.” He replied, giving Roier a small smile.
“And do you, Roier, take Cellbit as your wonderfully wedded spouse? Do you take him as your partner in life, through the highs and lows, through sickness and through health, for the rest of your days?”
Roier looked up to Cellbit.
“I do.” Roier replied.
Bad hummed, before looking to the crowd.
“Could the ring bearer come forth with the rings?”
On queue, Richarlyson waddled over to Bad, rings in hand.
Richarlyson wore a dark silver suit along with a black bowtie, his pants a similar shade. The tight curls of his hair moved with the wind, as his tail swayed back and forth.
Richarlyson hands the rings to Cellbit and Roier.
“Thank you, Richarlyson!” Bad said, patting Richarlyson on the head.
“These rings symbolize a couple’s unending love, an unstoppable force without a beginning or an end. Wear these rings proudly, let them remind you of your commitment to one another, every time you see them.”
The couple nodded.
“Okay. Cellbit, repeat after me.”
Cellbit hummed, looking at Bad.
“I, Cellbit, give you, Roier, this ring as a symbol of my love. As I place it on your finger, I commit the whole of my heart and soul to you. I promise to cherish you for the rest of my days. I give you all that I am, and accept all that you are.”
Cellbit repeated.
“Alright, now Roier, repeat after me.”
Roier nodded.
“I, Roier, give you, Cellbit, this ring as a symbol of my love. As I place it on your finger, I commit the whole of my heart and soul to you. I promise to cherish you for the rest of my days. I give you all that I am, and accept all that you are.”
Roier repeated.
“Wonderful! Now. Everyone, by the power vested in me… from somewhere, I am pleased to pronounce Cellbit and Roier as wed, sealed together today in love.”
“You may now kiss.”
Cellbit and Roier looked at each other, before Cellbit gently held Roier’s head, placing a kiss upon it.
Roier giggled, before standing on his tip-toes to place one upon Cellbit’s head as well.
The crowd cheered.
Bad put down his script as he sighed.
“I would also like to talk to everyone in attendance.”
He paused, and the gathering grew so silent you could now hear the birds’ calls loud and clear.
“Today has proven that no matter how rough the times are, we can pull through. We all gathered for a celebration like none other on this island. I’m so proud of everyone in attendance today, you know? Through our pains and sorrows, everyone here still found joy in something. Let us celebrate today as a family. Not as friends, or acquaintances, or even strangers, for some, but as a family, because that is what we are now. Thank you for coming, and have a great evening and night!”
The crowd clapped and cheered, for Bad was right. They were a family now, and right then, that’s what they needed. They needed a break from the sorrow, and that is what they got. The party continued on well into the night, worries having washed away with the sun.
Cellbit and Roier sat together at one of the tables, Roier leaning his head against Cellbit’s shoulder.
Cellbit was happy, and for the first time since his return, he felt true happiness. He smiled to himself, because today was the happiest day of his life.
For the first time, despite what this place had caused him, Cellbit could tolerate the island.
