I am also a Mod on the Darcyverse server, and was in the room during the situations that went down on both days.  It occurred just as @bangyababy described.  I’m still trying to process what I witnessed in that room.  Mods and members of the Marvel Mods Server absolutely spoke over, shut down, and threw out BIPOC members who expressed concern about their safety.  They also threw out anyone who had spoken up in support of the BIPOC members.   It was outrageous.  It was racist.  It was WRONG.
Yesterday, myself and several other bipocs and their allies were kicked out of a server for Marvel event mods. The reason being that we spoke up about how the environment was unsafe there and asked what the mods planned to do about it. The mods kicked us without warning and some of us were subsequently kicked from an unrelated server which is Steve/Bucky 18+. That is because the mods that run both the servers are the same: KelseyFantasy and ExtraneousAdverbs. Cheermione was also a mod for the Marvel Mod server.
This server had a history of silencing bipoc to “keep the peace” when those who posted incendiary comments meant to start fights with those whose modding policies they didn’t agree with were allowed to speak freely.
Things came to a head yesterday when I was backed into a corner by the mods after (rightfully) calling out another mod for their hypocritical stance on anon modding for fear of backlash to the mods, when that same mod had harassed myself and @samstevebuckyhq in the mod server over our mod policy. They were allowed to dogpile us for two days. I made one critical post of them and was told to stop the convo out of respect for other mod policies.
Several others spoke out about how they felt unsafe in that space. The mods replied ‘we’ll work on it.’
Today we asked what was going to be done? They said fill out this google form. We asked about specific issues in the server. We asked for an apology. They said be quiet. Others chimed in saying we were witch-hunting.
They were not told to be quiet.
I dropped a link for a new mod server, as clearly we were not going to get anywhere and I knew we were going to be kicked soon. I was right. We were almost all instantly kicked under the guise that they told us to stop talking. Many people kicked hadn’t spoken, they were only associated with us.
Those that agreed with the mods are still in the chat.
But please, don’t take my word for it. Screenshots can be found on twitter here.
It’s clear to see what happened here today. Fandom, as a whole, we need you to do better. It’s going to be uncomfortable, I understand. But we need y’all to do the work. BIPOC fans should not fear every space they are in will eventually turn against them.
Finally, I’d like to thank everyone that stood with us BIPOC and advocated for our voices to be heard.

Renaming Prompts
Hi there!
In light of [gestures at world] and discussion today among the mod team and other bingo participants, we’ve decided to rename a few of our prompt squares, specifically “miscegenation” and “Pro-Nazi.” We thank those of you who have trusted us with your concerns and brought this to our attention.
We’re sorry for the pain we’ve caused thus far and will be working to correct it. The continued harm to participants is not acceptable and there are alternative terms we should have switched to using instead.
The original intent with “miscegenation” was to copy the language of the 1930 Motion Picture Code, in part to show how heinous it was, but intent does not excuse impact. This prompt will be renamed “Interracial Relationship.” We’re also changing the prompt previously titled “Pro-Nazi.” The name has been causing a great deal of distress and confusion, and after lengthy discussion we have decided to rename this prompt “Nazi content.”
We would like to reiterate that our list of prompts was compiled from the many, many reasons why works have been censored/challenged/banned. The entries included do not reflect mod support for any specific banned work or prompt, and we continue to encourage you to creatively subvert prompts as you see fit. However, we hope the new prompt names make our personal stances more clear (and, to that end, the Anti-Nazi prompt is staying right where it is).
Here is what we’re doing to move forward:
We’ve currently added more context for the “miscegenation” prompt in the Bingo Squares Prompt List. This will be further updated pending the 4th bullet point below.
Instances of the “miscegenation” tag in the BTB AO3 collection have all been changed to “interracial relationship.” Going forward, we will be watching the tags to ensure that the original prompt is not used in the Additional Tags either. This has been added as a vetting step for our moderators when they review tags.
We haven’t received any works for the previously named “Pro-Nazi” prompt yet, but if/when we do, we will be bookmarking them with the tag “Nazi content” rather than “Pro-Nazi” as well.
We have asked our techie for some additional work to evaluate the steps it will take to rename entries on the frontend/backend. Once we get through this last round of revised cards, they’ll be able to focus on that work this weekend and going into next week. We believe it’s worth it, but addressing the technical side will not happen overnight. Please bear with us while we work with them on this.
After we’ve figured out how we’re resolving this on the tech end, we will be sending an email to the participants who have these prompts on their card to update them about the situation and tagging policy.
We will reblog this post with an update when we know how the technical limitations of our backend will allow us to resolve this.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hey! So I got my card and although I had racism as a DNW, I've got squares with "black people's ideas" and "miscegenation". I'm not sure how I could interpret them any way other than racially. Can I swap out just those two squares, or do you think they could be interpreted differently?
We encourage you to keep those squares and interpret them creatively. We decided not to include those prompts in Structural Racism because those are prompts that can be filled without directly tackling structural racism as your subject. They can easily be filled by works that celebrate people of color simply living and existing as people. Society’s opinion on the matter is not required.
Honoring, exploring, discussing, and/or uplifting ideas put forth by Black minds encompasses such a broad range of innovative topics! Now may be a fun opportunity to do some research into Black thought. Consider the sci-fi worlds of Afrofuturism and speculative fiction if you need a place to start; there are so many good works out there. We encourage creators to cite their sources of inspiration, so even more people can learn about the great works available!
Or, if you’d like to go another route—the full text for the “Black People’s Ideas” prompt comes from a challenge to The Color Purple by Alice Walker. Parents said the book contained “troubling ideas about race relations, man’s relationship to God, African history, and human sexuality.” You could use all of that for extra inspiration if you wish (or not—remember, the full text is there as a bonus, you are not beholden to it). There are a lot of options to think about.
Likewise, interracial relationships exist with or without the structural racism of modern society. People love who they love. If your fandom doesn’t have enough variety of characters to fill this prompt, we also accept OCs. The universe you are working with could also feature relationships between different non-human races and challenges that may or may not parallel those found in human societies.
Your fills for these prompts are not required to touch on the pain of living under the yoke of structural racism, although you can certainly dig into that if you wish. Don’t be afraid to dream a little bigger with some of these prompts. Hope starts with an idea.

Reasons Why Fans of Color Leave/Don’t Interact with Fandom
Casual racism that is brushed off as “an innocent mistake” or “they didn’t mean it” and then everyone pretending like it didn’t happen and moving on with their day (repeat)
Speaking over fans of color about issues that pertain to them specifically
When fans of color speak out about something that makes them uncomfortable or why that don’t interact with it (usually because of the racial/ethnic bias) they are accused of being anti’s or pro-censorship
Characters of color being used as scapegoats/bashed/plot devices
Characters of color never getting happy endings/real development
Backlash against characters of color if they do anything other than be a white character’s side kick/best friend
Actors of characters of color being harassed for something their character did or didn’t do
White characters/actors getting all the attention/credit despite the fact that they are a side character to a POC or on the same level as the POC
Fanfic authors patting themselves on the back for writing a “realistic” character of color and it’s just a bunch of stereotypes
Being told that they should be happy they were even included when they call out the above people
White fans crying about persecution/exclusion because their fav character/trope/kink/ship isn’t loved by all
Fan artists re-imaging characters of color as white/lightening skin tone
Everyone rushing to a white fans defense after a well deserved call out while the fan of color receives hate
Never having a safe fandom space and always having to be on guard with new people/fandoms/chats etc because they’ve been burned before
Feel free to add

This is from an ER nurse:
"I am posting, for once, about something other than my dog.
I have seen 4 patients die, 5 get intubated, 2 re-intubated, witnessed family consent to make 2 more patients DNRs, sweat my butt off during CPR, titrated so many drips to no avail, watched vent settings increase to no avail. We are exhausted and at a total loss.
All of this in two shifts in a row.
Some of you people have never done EVERYTHING you could to save someone, and watched them die anyway, and it shows.
I would have no problem if you fools worried about your "freedom" all went out and got COVID. If only you could sign a form stating that you revoke your right to have medical treatment based on your cavalier antics and refusal to abide by CDC and medical professionals' advice. If you were the only people who got infected during your escapades to protest tyranny, great. But that's sadly not how this works.
You wanna complain because the garden aisle is closed? If you knew a thing about gardening, you'd know it's too early to plant in Michigan. Your garden doesn't matter. If killing your plants would bring back my patients, I would pillage the shit out of your "essential" garden beds.
Upset because you can't go boating...in Michigan...in April...in the cold-ass water? You wanna tell my patient's daughter (who was sobbing as she said goodbye to her father over the phone) about your first-world problems?
Upset because you can't go to your cottage up north? Your cottage...your second property...used for leisure. My coworkers can't even stay in their regular homes. Most have been staying in hotels and dorms, not able to see their spouses or babies.
All of these posts, petitions online to evade "tyranny", it's all such bullshit. I'm sorry you're bored and have nothing to do but bitch and moan. You wanna pick up a couple hours for me? Yeah, didn't think so. I wouldn't trust most of you with patient care, anyway. Not just because of the selfish lack of humanity your posts exude, but because most of those posts and petitions are so riddled with misspellings and grammatical errors, that it makes me question your cognitive capacity.
Shoutout to my coworkers, the real MVPs."

FUCK YEAH!!! I’m so excited!  GIVE US THE CRACK, DARCYLAND!!!!!
4th Annual Crack Challenge!!! (Darcyland April Fool’s Crack Challenge 2020)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey guys!  It’s that time of year again!
In honor of April Fool’s Day, @leftennant and I thought it would be fun to do yet another Crack-tastic Writing Challenge!
And this year, we figured that the fandom needs something silly like this with everything that’s going on. This time, y’all have the entire month to get your submissions in. And there’s no limit on how many you can write, or how many times you use the prompts.  Just get all that silly out there in the universe. Because we NEED it, folks. We all need something to make us smile.
This event is open to everyone, every fic rating is welcome.  Do you want crack-smut? SMUT IT UP, BABY. If smut’s not something that speaks to you, that’s FINE. We still want to read everything your gorgeous brain can create! Do you want more gen crack with no ships? WRITE THAT THING!  Treat yo self and everyone else while you’re at it. You’re an amazing author and we NEED THAT FIC!  As long as it features our favorite taser-toting princess, Darcy Lewis, we wanna read it and it’s on-brand!
Rules:
While this is really more geared towards fic writers, you can create any kind of fanwork you want.  (Graphics, fic, art)
Your work must feature Darcy Lewis.  (Natch, I mean…this is a Darcyland event)
Crossovers are fine, as long as…you know…Darcy is involved.  ;)
You may not use this list for anything non-Darcy related. We came up with this list specifically with Darcy in mind, please respect that!
If you want, you can add fics to the collection we made on Ao3
Rate and tag your fics appropriately, any rating is fine, but please be aware when you rate and tag!
No word limit for fics or drabbles
Posting begins on April 1, 2020, and will go on until April 30, 2020
Tag your works with  #dlaf2020 and #darcy lewis to be sure that they will get seen!  Because of the wonky tag features on Tumblr, if you want to make doubly sure we see it and reblog it, please feel free to message us the link here on Tumblr.
But, it IS a crack challenge.  So keep it silly, y’all!  The point is to be lighthearted and as CRACKY as possible. (From Fanlore:  “…crack can describe fanworks with a fundamentally ludicrous premise, or otherwise including a plethora of unbelievable, incredible, or just plain silly elements…”)
HAVE FUN!  I mean, it’s supposed to be fun, bb. <3
Lefty and I have created a list of prompts that we thought would live up to the lists from the past years.
The detailed prompt list is under the cut:

How I Teach Men Not To Talk Over Me: from one feminist to another, when basic respect is lagging and conversations are impossible
I’ve done this to several men, and they catch on rather quickly. You’ll be able to have a conversation right then and there, and it works long term too - they might’ve forgot their manners by the time you talk to them again, but by repeating this, they’ll eventually learn to let you talk without you having to do this at the start of every convo. Source: I have a very stubborn older brother, who eventually learned too.
1. When they interrupt you, stop talking. Don’t try to raise your voice or battle them. Be completely quiet and wait.
2. Ignore everything they’re saying. Do not actually listen - just wait until they shut up. Don’t make a point of anything they say, do not answer to anything they say, do not refer to anything they say here. Literally do not listen a single word. Let them rant as long as they want.
3. When they finally shut up and wait for your reaction, say: ”I wasn’t done talking.”
4. Start over whatever you were saying when they interrupted you. I don’t care if it was a 10-minute explanation of rocket science. Start. Over. Repeat you original thought, but do not add anything related to what they just said while talking over you. That gives them the idea that it’s okay to interrupt you, you’ll still listen and pay attention and they’ll get their point clear without having to listen to yours. (It’s especially funny when you get done and they expect you to keep going talking about whatever they talked over you. The face when it sinks in that you didn’t listen a single word is glorious.)
5. If they interrupt you again, return to step 1. If you find yourself repeating the cycle over 3 times, tell them: ”you’re not letting me speak. Either you listen and wait for your turn, or our conversation ends here.” If they try to make excuses, laugh it off or keep interrupting, end the conversation. Prove them that if they wont let you speak, they’re not worth your time.
Why does this work? First, because sometimes talking over is internalized and men don’t actually notice they’re doing it. Being vocally called out makes them realize it and pay attention to it - especially if it happens more than once. Secondly, by refusing to aknowledge anything they say when they interrupt you, they’ll soon realize they will not get their own point across if they keep doing that. Peoole and especially men have the need to be heard and paid attention to when they talk - when you make it clear that by talking over you, they will not have your attention, they’ll learn to wait until you’re done, because they know that’s when you will be paying attention and actually listening.
Go my darlings. Have some actual conversations where your point of view is just as valid as his. Demand the basic respect of being heard. You can actually have some interesting conversations with men when they’re forced to listen too, when being louder is not going to make them feel like they’re dominating the conversation or winning the argument.
