I just listened to your WGA strike episode, and I gotta say it was very surreal to hear my username and then you read my post in full 😭 for the record, I did not watch GG when it first aired, I first watched it in 2019 (which tbh I think gives me a clearer perspective). I’m just a GG archivist at this point lol
omg hi!!!!! interesting!!! late bloomer with it like myself! we were really happy to have stumbled upon your post, i appreciate you doing that archivist work for us teen drama nerds!!!! like seriously we love your work <33333 hope you have an amazing day and THANK YOU FOR LISTENING to the ep! i hope you enjoyed!
Was disappointed to hear you guys call Vanessa from Gossip Girl “so annoying” when she is the only teen character on that show who you could even call a leftist. Interested to see how you’re going to tackle Gossip Girl when its male lead is such a capitalist pig.
I mean, a character can be both annoying and a leftist! See our discussion about Sasha on Heartbreak High in our episode on that sit-in arc. But personally, I was mainly disappointed that Vanessa wasn't as badass on the show as she was in the books.
I also haven't rewatched Gossip Girl in a couple years, and will be doing so before we cover it for the podcast so maybe my opinion will shift! :)
If you're referring to Chuck Bass as the capitalist pig - agreed. I fucking HATE that character (and the actor, tbh!) Our planned angle is mostly to dissect the class dynamics on Gossip Girl through our usual anti capitalist lens, so lots of bashing of Chuck and other characters is to be expected.
I hope you'll tune in to Season 4 when we hope to tackle GG! I will definitely keep in mind doing Vanessa proper justice, so thanks for reaching out and thanks for listening!
