Winners’ circle:
Ronnie Peterson claims victory in his Lotus 72E at the United States Grand Prix in 1973, 0.688 seconds ahead of James Hunt. It was a battle between the two legends, with Hunt staying within 0.6 and 1.4 seconds for the last 15 laps but never able to pass. Unfortunately, the weekend saw the death of François Cevert and the premature retirement of Championship winner Jackie Stewart, who would have raced his 100th Grand Prix.
