So I’m the biggest liar. You can beat the Fire Vellumental without iron boots, you just have to wait a while for it to throw its feathers before you take it out

Origami King: No Equip Challenge
Alright, I've finally finished all of Paper Mario: The Origami King No Equip Run, and here's what it's all about.
Rules: No equipping any armor upgrade and badges. All items are allowed, but no help from Toads (note: no Toads is optional. I did it for further challenge)
This run is mostly doable (we'll get to the one part later), with the biggest hurtle against you being how long the battles will be post Earth Vellumental due to the base attack being so low (it maxes to 24 for boots and 28 for hammer). The Hearts scattered across the game will be mandatory to survive (especially for Green Streamer and Origami Castle), as well as a decent stock of all battle items (Fire and Ice flowers, Tails, the shiny variants, and the POW Block).
Here's all the enemies you cannot one-shot after maxing out (hammer and boot attack only):
Hammer, Fire, Ice, Boomerang, Sledge and Sumo Bros., Piranha and Ptooie Plants, all Spike variants, Chargin' Chucks, Bone Goomba, Crowber, Spike Top, Grass Ninji, Stingby, Rocky Wrench, all Cutout Soldiers, and Blooper
Here's the boss guide:
Earth Vellumental: Easiest boss due to it being a tutorial (also equippables have not been fully introduced yet so we're fine here).
Colored Pencils: Another relatively easy boss. The battle isn't terribly affected by not having anything equipped.
Water Vellumental: This boss is where you start to feel not having anything equppied, with draining it's HP taking longer than an average playthrough, but other than that it isn't terrible.
Rubber Band: Not affected by the run due to only using 1000-Fold Arms.
Fire Vellumental: The biggest waiting game in the run. Wait until it has about 1/4 of its HP before using the Water Vellumental and 1000-Fold.
Hole Punch: Another boss where it simply takes a lot longer than normal to finish it due to dealing less damage.
Ice Vellumental: Not terrible since the boss is mostly puzzle based.
Tape: Surprisingly the first phase was the hardest due to it taking 3-4 hits to get rid of just one part of the dispenser. Second phase easy since it's just magic circle shenanigans.
Boss Sumo Bros.: Painfully long (I think this fight took me the longest). Since the little Sumo Bros. have 45 HP each, it takes multiple hits to take the ones you need out.
Handaconda: Not affected since it's just Rock-Paper-Scissors.
Scissors: This was probably the second longest fight since I got killed and had to face it again, but it is doable.
Stapler: Not affected by the challenge, so it's easy.
King Olly: Also not affected by the run since all phases do not use the attack command.
All in all, a long but fun challenge! So long as you're good with puzzles, I would say do this challenge (minus the Fire Vellumental, I'm going to throw that chicken into the sea).

Update on the challenge (since I hadn't made it to Origami Castle when I posted it): You 100% need a One-Up Mushroom for the Stapler fight because you will die at full health during phase 3's biting barrage. No exceptions

You underestimate my power XD
Name of the game: survive.
Oh it's so gurling after Earth Vellumental, I wanna smack myself for even doing the challenge, but! I'm in it for the long haul.
Post Earth Vellumental, you're taking permanent damage. No money bonuses for you, you are gonna be brooooooke (unless you save Toads and patch holes for a living. Wait a minute-)
Copen - easy
Water Vellumental - easy
Rubber Band - stupid easy
Now, where the run gets shot is at none other than my second least favorite boss: the Fire Vellumental. Man, this chicken hates me cuz I have to equip the iron boots. Ain't no way to pluck it unless Mario's feet are steel, sooooo-
After that, we are equipless once more (praaaaaaise Jebus).
Hole Punch - manageable
Ice Vellumental - manageable
Tape - long first phase (manageable), super short second phase (easy)
Sumo Bros - test your ever loving patience, but doable
Handaconda - easy-ish
Scissors - doable
Stapler - a test of patience, but more fun than Sumo Bros tbh
King Olly - so long as he doesn't pick the Fire Vellumental, long. But doable
Honestly, if you've been living in the battle lab any run prior to this one, any fight is exactly the same as the battle lab (minus equip boots/hammer). Also, finding HP Hearts is a must. It's the only way to boost your base attack stats and HP (having 200 HP for Green Streamer is a must bc man the bosses from there on hit like a train)
Items are your #1 best friend (that I can't live without so help me)
Fire Flowers - bffs forever
Shiny Fire Flowers - let the enemies die, let the enemies die, let em shrivel up and-
Ice Flowers and Shiny Ice Flowers - Pretty much irrelevant unless you are up against Fire Bros cuz they come so late in the game
POW Blocks - "Did you know that-" you can only have a max of 3 POW Blocks in your inventory? And they only do 12 damage to each enemy so I don't even see the point of having that item at such a low max cap
Tails and Shiny Tails - Surprisingly a very useful hammer substitute if you need something stronger than it.
tldr: Do this challenge at the risk of your own sanity
Been doing a challenge run for Origami King where I do the whole game with no badges and no weapons equipped (aka just basic boots, hammer, and all items). 1000% dying as I crawl towards Scissors

Sooo tell me ur opinions on goombella!
Best girl, I love her
What I like about: She's super sassy, but not the annoying kind which is a sigh of relief for me (coughsKersticoughs).
What I dislike about them (if anything): I don't have really any complaints with Goombella. She's just super funny.
Headcannons: Goombella wants to make big archeological discoveries and have a museum dedicated to them. She's huge into learning about the past and using old talismans to help out with todays society. It was through learning about the Thousand-Year-Door that Goombella wanted to go with Professor Frankly to see if the treasure could be used for good.
Relationships with other partners: I think she'd be quick friends with Koops and Yoshi Kid, listen to stories from Madame Flurrie, Ms. Mowz, and Admiral Bobbery, and maybe try to sort her feelings about Vivian.
Relationships with NPCs (if any): She and Professor Frankly definitely have a father/daughter relationship. Also, she and Zess T. are pros in the kitchen and often have tea together.
Favorite ship (if shipped): Goombella/Vivian for life! Like even though the interactions are small, I do think that they'd end up super close and lean on each other for support and help each other through.
Least favorite ship (if any): Goombella/Mario (tho really any partners shipped with Mario is a no go for me). Like Mario's in his 30s. I think that's kinda enough said.
Placement in my main au: By the time Origami King happens, Goombella is getting her doctorate in archeology and is tutoring Vivian (who is getting her degree in counseling and public speaking). Goombella still writes letters to Mario from time to time about recent expeditions and fun artifacts she's found. However, there may be one talisman that will be important for later that she and Vivian discovered in Decalberg...
