This isn't exclusively related to interactive fiction, it's more of a question to readers out there in general. What point of view do you like to read in? Do you like to be in the story through the character's eyes via 1st person, or do you like a bird's eyes view through 3rd omniscient? I'd love to know!

Sooooo I was going through some answered asks and spotted that Merikh has an ex? And it sounds like it didn’t end well??? Who hurt him?? Who hurt my mans?? 🥺🥺

This also had me wondering what the ROs experience level is romantically and/or sexually? (If I’m allowed to ask!)

thinking about how those metal folding fans used in avatar the last airbender would be so cool for a dancer mc to use

I like it!

I already have several dance variations in my drafts, so I'll probably add it in!

Another thing I'm trying to be conscious of is that it's easy to give performer MCs the chance to show off, but I don't want to neglect our children of Kreios and Thalia, or Alim. So I need to think more about our scholars and warriors.

Hi Leone just needed to know, does the updates mess up the saves? No because, on the last public update, my saves got erased I had to replay the whole thing once again just a few weeks ago. I saved at the Time and today when i wanted to play the New update, my saves were gone again. It's kind of discouraging, do you know anything ? -sarah

The update probably messes with the saves. I don't know why it does, but every time I update the demo, the saves are lost. I haven't figured out a way to fix it, so if anyone has any potential solutions, please let me know!

I love HaT so much, you have no idea. How do you plan for the IF? Do you make flowcharts, or just go with the flow as you write? Do you put in stats/code as you go, or add them in when your writing bit is over?

I'm looking at being more organized, so I might get fancied with my plotting in the future, but right now I just make bullet points for what needs to happen in each scenario.

It's like an overview of the paths before I write them. Sometimes I write things that happen chapters ahead, so I have to ask myself, 'What must happen here, in order for that to happen there?'

As for stats, in the beginning I put them in as I went, but my stat page is volatile, so I stopped inputting it for the sake of speed. (I may not be the fastest, but I'd be even slower dealing with the stats haha!)

Now I make a note of potential stats and use a temp stat for each scene. If it's relevant outside of that, then I go ahead and add it to the startup page.

Reading Poldi’s POV on patreon makes me appreciate the dancer background for MC even more since it sort of the opposite of Poldi

Let me explain: Poldi has everything, he comes from an important family, he is inclined to magic, top of his class, etc… but the one thing he lacks, his one downfall is his lack of self control

MC on the other hand has nothing except self control, which is what saves them after the chase, and probably gets reinforced since dance is all about controlling one’s body.

Ultimately what “doomed” MC was Poldi misplaced belief he can fix everything because “he’s the best right?”

Seems to carry over to his adult years with his response to MC in the dream

“STOP, CAN’T YOU SEE I’M TRYING TO HELP YOU”

Sensing a theme here…

I love your analysis anon! (You might be right about that theme...)

When you think about it, the MC and Poldi are opposites to the core. No matter how cocky the MC may act, no matter how aggressive, or calculating, the MC has humble origins and has always had to be disciplined. The MC has been exposed to new skills, new situations, and has had no choice but to adapt and excel. Even in the quest for vengeance, that's a lot of time and patience to look for clues and answers, and the MC has been doing that for years!

I wonder if the years have made Poldi more disciplined?

Anyway, thank you for sending this, and I love to hear y'all's thoughts on the story like this.

I love this game so much!! This is the first game which somewhat resembles my homeland in a fantasy setting and I fell in love with it. Are you planning to release this in multiple books? And do you have a set price in mind for the games? again, thank you very much for making this lovely game

Oh my goodness! I'm so glad that you like the game, and I'm so happy that you feel my game represents your homeland! Ah that is so cool!

I plan on this book being a complete story, with others that take place in the same world. So some of the people and places that come up in this one, will appear in others.

As for pricing, I haven't decided yet. I'm still considering whether the final form of this game will be in choicescript or not.

Will you please add the various playlists to your Public Profile? It would be easier to use your profile to branch off into the playlists, than opening them each in the web.

For example:

On my iPhone I have to open the RO info in the Tumblr app. Which then opens the page in Safari. Then I click “Playlist” which opens as the Embedded player in a new tab. I then click on the Spotify logo to open it in the Spotify player. However, that also opens in my browser. So I have to select the “Open in App” button for full Spotify access. So many clicks for the music. 😵‍💫

Sure, I'll work on that. I didn't mean for it to be such a hassle haha, it was my first time ever linking to a Spotify and I haven't messed with those playlists in awhile.

I thought I'd take some time to highlight some of what's cooking on Patreon!

Currently, the advanced demo has been uploaded for my wonderful and patient patreons. In addition to that, I've posted part one of a short story focused on Sarai's past.

There are a couple of other goodies on there, like some very belated Halloween shorts featuring Sutek and Laverna. Backstories for Aretas, Merikh, and Sutek are up so far and there are also character conversations.

(And the perspective of a certain someone on the worst night of the main character's life.)
