Doctor Y/n - Residency - 21 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
"So, who do you find cute? There's glasses over there... tattoos, how do you feel about tattoos? Oh, nice hair-" Webber froze as the person he was referring to have nice hair turned around, revealing to be you talking to a girl.
"Do you think she's here for trivia night?" Webber asked, frowning as he saw you about to leave with the girl.
"I don't think she is... she's probably looking for a rebound." Arizona replied as she picked up her glass.
"They didn't even stay for a drink- what is it with young people these days? What ever happened to conversations and romantic dates? All they care about is jumping into bed with each other..." Webber rambled, not noticing how Arizona had downed her drink to avoid commenting on the matter.
It had been several weeks since you and Hannah had broken up. Nobody besides you, Hannah and Jo knew the relationship had happened and who you had dated. Arizona had a suspicion though, she didn't voice it but she knew.
///
"Y/n, what's your deal with Jo having a gun?" Alex approached you, leaving you to frown, having heard about the two eight year olds and how one had accidently shot the other whilst playing.
"I don't like guns. I've had them pointed at me before, which Jo... Jo doesn't know, crap, I was thirteen. Anyway, the gun was the only thing I was glad to see get out of my apartment." You admitted, leaving Alex to frown.
"You live in a weird neighbourhood too, what do you use?"
"I have a bat," You deadpanned, "You've seen it, it's propped up near the door."
"Do you even play baseball?" Alex asked, leaving you to grimace.
"Okay, I know it's a stereotype, but I'm usually the one in the bleachers. I was semi-decent at lacrosse, but ping-pong is my sport. You're not going to see me try defend myself with a ping-pong paddle though." You retorted, leaving Alex to stiffle a laugh.
"I can't see you defending yourself with a lacrosse stick either." Alex laughed, leaving you to whack him playfully on the arm.
"Hey, I can take punches and dodge them too. I'm not completely useless. You get why Jo has a gun though, right? She lived in her car when she was sixteen."
///
"Y/n, can I talk to you?" Arizona's voice caught you off-guard as you were pulling on your Yale hoodie over your head, leaving you to almost put your arm through the wrong sleeve before quickly correcting it.
"What's, what's that face for?" You asked, tilting your head to the side as Arizona grimaced.
"Um, as you know, Callie and I are going to court for custody of Sofia, and I was wondering-"
"I... I don't want to pick a side, I can't pick a side. Callie's already leaving for New York and that hurts because she took me under her wing for ortho, but then you basically adopted me outside of work and you're like an older sister to me and I can't pick a side. I'm so sorry, I just, I love you both and now I sound really clingy and sentimental-" You were cut off as Arizona pulled you into a hug.
///
"It's an impossible situation, a break-up is tough as it is, but with a kid in the mix?" Warren rambled as you and Steph laid your heads on the bar.
"I can't even imagine." Jo admitted, fiddling with the peanut shells in front of her.
"Just because she didn't give birth to the kid doesn't make it any less yours." Warren continued, leaving Jo to sigh.
"Biology or not, no parent ever stuck around to fight for me." Jo threw the peanut shell as she spotted you glaring.
"Oh, my parents fought about where to leave me on the side of the road. They also acted like they weren't leaving me all the time at the library, or school, and forgetting I existed until people had to call and literally remind them that they have a child." You added, leaving Jo to pass you the shot that Warren had passed to Jo.
///
You weren't trying to make a habit out of eavesdropping. Courtrooms weren't easy to eavesdrop but you were waiting for Arizona to leave. April had told you that Arizona was needed, so you got a taxi to take you to the courtroom for Arizona to bring back.
"I love my child. And I want her with me, but I know that no matter how this ends... she'll survive, she'll be healthy, and safe, and well taken care of and loved. Because, we are her mothers. But, there's a child at the hospital who will not survive, unless I am there, so..." Arizona froze as the courtroom doors opened, revealing you waiting in your scrubs.
"I have to, I have to go..." Arizona murmured, hurrying over as her lawyer passed her her bag.
"What are you doing here?" Arizona asked, wiping away tears as you led her to a taxi.
"I got you a cab. I wanted to be in that courtroom but I'd have to pick a side to even sit down in and I doubt I could sit in the middle of the floor." You explained as you and Arizona got the taxi to the hospital.
"Thank you, Y/n." Arizona smiled, offering you a sad laugh as you passed her a tissue.
///
You didn't expect Arizona to text you that evening, asking you if you had seen Tangled or not and whether you'd like to watch it with Sofia and DeLuca. She even asked if you wanted to bring Jo, if she was free.
Jo wasn't free, but you went anyway.
"So, Tangled?" You raised an eyebrow at DeLuca as he just smiled back, the two of you sat waiting for Arizona and Sofia who were making popcorn.
"I'm surprised Wilson isn't with you." DeLuca admitted, leaving you to sigh.
"She's with Karev, and my last relationship is over so I am here, watching Tangled because honestly, I'd love to watch Tangled whilst eating popcorn, but also not be alone doing it." You stated, freezing as Arizona walked in with Sofia.
"Sounds like you got better at being alone." Arizona pointed out as Sofia went to put the DVD in the DVD player.
"Yeah, I'm not the same as I was in intern year." You stated before Sofia shushed you as Tangled began to play, leaving you to pretend to be shocked by shoving a mouthful of popcorn in your mouth.

Baby Shepherd - Part 2 - Jo Wilson x Shepherd!Sister!Reader
Summary: Amelia knows about your relationship with Jo Wilson now. But what happens when the other Shepherd sisters decide to visit Seattle? All of hell to break loose apparently.
/// Flashbacks ///
A frown crossed your face as Addison finished giving you the safe sex talk.
"But, what about girls?"
Addison paused for a moment, understanding why Liz had asked her to give you the talk instead one of your other sisters. Her head tilted to the side as she nodded to herself, noticing how you were playing with your fingers nervously.
"Well, with girls..."
///
"Is there a reason you asked me to give her that talk; not anyone else? I'm pretty sure Nancy would have given her it too." Addison enquired to Liz after you'd ran off to chase Amelia around the garden because she'd taken your favourite hoodie.
"I thought she'd be more comfortable with you." Liz explained, smiling softly as you and Amelia rolled around in the grass. Addison raised an eyebrow at that, wondering if Liz was someone you were comfortable with. However, judging by the answer you'd given her when she asked if you'd spoken to anyone else, Liz only had a hunch.
///
Amelia could tell something was bothering you by the way you were playing with your fingers.
"You okay?" Amelia raised an eyebrow, stopping what she was doing at her desk so she could sit on the bed with you.
"Do you remember, when I was six, and the only way I would sleep was if we were in the same bed, so I slept in the same bed as you for nearly six months? Why did you never tell me to go back to my own bed? Nancy did, mom gave up and Kathleen still thinks I need to grow up. You didn't tell me if you found me annoying and you never said that you didn't love me, even though I was so annoying." You rambled, sniffling slightly as Amelia looked at you in confusion.
"That was a decade ago... and you were my personal cuddle monster when I was eleven, then we had our shared love of unicorns a year later. You weren't annoying and I'm not going to stop loving you." Amelia replied, chuckling at the memory of when you were six and Amelia was eleven.
"Even if..."
"Even if what?" Amelia smiled slightly, pulling you into her comforting embrace as you hesitated.
"Even if I want to be with a girl, and not a guy?" You couldn't bare to look your sister in the eye as you asked, biting your lip and waiting for a negative reaction.
You hadn't even realised how long you had been playing with your fingers until Amelia entwined yours with hers.
"Even if you want to be with a girl." Amelia smiled, pulling you into her side as you let out a breath of relief. Your eyes steadily closing as your head rested on her shoulder, relaxing finally.
"Have you told anyone else?" Amelia whispered, feeling you stir in her arms.
"Um... I had to ask Addison about girls, when she tried to talk to me about sex. She probably figured it out from there." You explained, your nose crinkling up as you remembered the talk, whilst your gaze was locked onto playing with Amelia's fingers.
"Is there anyone that's caught your eye?" Amelia enquired, hiding a smile as you flustered.
"Um, there's Bobby, she's the goalie for the football team... she's nice..." You hesitantly smiled as Amelia grinned.
"She's nice?" She teased, poking you in the ribs as you giggled.
"We might have kissed once or twice..." You admitted, giggling as Amelia grinned at you in excitement.
///
Whilst there were five years between you and Amelia, there were twelve and a half-ish years between you and Derek.
Derek was a resident when you were sixteen, so it was hard to catch him when he wasn't working, but you'd go over to the hospital he was working at after football practice, especially after Bobby got concussed and needed a neuro consult at the hospital.
"CT scan looks like there's no brain bleed, just a grade 3 concussion. Your friend needs low light, quiet and to not sleep too long, okay? I had an interesting case on the neuro speciality today, actually, do you want to see?" Derek asked, looking over the head CT.
"I like girls."
Derek paused, raising an eyebrow at what you had blurted out.
"I like girls." You re-affirmed, forcing yourself to look your big brother in the eye as he gave you a confused puppy look for a moment.
"You like girls? That's great!" Derek grinned, wrapping you up in a hug as a squeal left your lips.
/// Back to the Future ///
"Do you think Amelia is okay with us together?" Jo enquired as the two of you walked hand in hand towards your apartment, having just finished a shift at the hospital.
"She doesn't hate you, Jo." You replied, twirling Jo around as she grinned at the movement.
"Her shovel talk was intense though." Jo admitted, biting her lip before you gently raised your hand to coax her lip from her teeth.
"She cares, she's my closest sister and practically raised me... when she was sober. So, she's protective. It's my other sisters we need to be careful around, I'm not even out to them, or my mom... she can barely look at me already." You grumbled, sighing as you unlocked your apartment door.
"I'm going to run a bath, I'll call you over when it's done." You smiled, kissing Jo quickly before walking towards the bathroom. Jo smirked slightly as she watched you walk away, her focus breaking when your phone began to ring.
Big Sister Liz calling
"Hello? Y/n Shepherd's phone."
Liz raised an eyebrow as a) you didn't send her to voicemail, and b) it wasn't you even answering your phone
"Babe, who is it?" You called out from the bathroom, loud enough that Jo could hear you clearly over the sound of running water.
A small smile crossed Liz's lips as she heard you call the woman answering your phone 'babe'.
"Tell Y/n I'll call back later, sorry for interrupting." Liz apologised before hanging up, leaving Jo to frown.
"The bath's ready. Who was that?" You leaned in the doorway, raising an eyebrow as Jo let out a breath.
"I think Liz just called, but she said she'd call you back later and she's sorry for interrupting." Jo explained, passing you your phone as she got up to walk towards the bathroom.
"Right..." You murmured, frowning slightly to yourself before Jo distracted you from your thoughts by enticing you into sharing the bath.
///
"Oh, shit!" You exclaimed, shifting in the bath tub as realisation washed over you.
"What? Hey, what's wrong?" Jo realised, helping you sit further up in the tub as you began to panic.
"Liz heard me call you babe, that's why she apologised for interrupting!" You exclaimed, climbing out of the bath tub as Jo followed, wrapping you both in towels as you checked your phone.
A large breath of relief escaped your lips as you found you hadn't been bombarded with phonecalls and texts from your other sisters.
"I'm so sorry I answered the phone, I didn't think when it rang and it said 'big sister Liz' but, i'm so sorry!" Jo apologised, panicking until she saw you were calming down.
"What's happening? Are we happy or terrified?"
"Well, I haven't been sent a load of messages from my sisters about how outraged they are they never knew I liked girls, so either Liz hasn't told them, or she didn't hear me." You theorised, shrugging until you noticed you were standing in your towel and so was Jo.
"Sorry I ruined the bath time." You grimaced, putting your phone back down as Jo reached over for your towel.
"How about we make up for it in the shower?" Jo suggested, biting her lip as you raised an eyebrow in amusement.
///
You were laying on the couch, body tangled with Jo's so much that it was hard to see where one of you started and the other ended, especially under the blanket.
Your phone ringing with Liz's contact details on the screen was enough for you to sit up and take a deep breath, glancing at Jo as she sat up too, pulling you into her lap.
"Hello?"
"Hey little one, how are you doing?" Liz smiled as you picked up the phone.
"I'm okay, how are you all?"
"We're doing all doing okay here. So, I called earlier and, your friend picked up-" Liz was cut off as she heard you take a sharp intake of breath, realising you were on the verge of panic.
"Anyway, I was just calling to catch up, see how're you're doing, you seemed happier, even with that photo you accidently shared on social media. I'm happy you're happy Baby Shep, and you know I love you no matter what, okay?" Liz explained, smiling even though you wouldn't be able to tell through the phone call.
The phoneline went silent as you let out a shaky breath, your free hand playing with Jo's fingers until she pulled you further into her lap, your head leaning on her shoulder to reassure you. It was the kiss on your forehead that gave you the strength to say what you said next.
"Jo. Her name is Jo. Jo Wilson. She's, she's my girlfriend, and I love her... a lot."
Jo grinned into your hair as you finally had the courage to tell Liz about her, and about you.
"Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me, little one. This doesn't change the fact that I love you, because you're my baby sister and I do. I hope one day you're comfortable enough with me visiting and meeting this girlfriend of yours?" Liz hesitated, pride bristling in her chest as she realised that you were happy and that you trusted her with this.
"Yeah, that would be nice, but, um, mom, Nancy and Kate don't know..." You trailed off, smiling slightly as Jo kissed your cheek.
"I won't tell them, little one, that's for you, but only when you're ready, okay? I have to go, I'll talk to you another time, okay? I love you, bye." Liz smiled before hanging up. Her hunch had been right all along.
A large breath escaped your lips as you put the phone down, turning your head so you could hug Jo tightly, kissing her cheek several times.
"I love you, I love you so much!" You declared, smiling as Jo giggled at the affection.
"I love you too, baby. So damn much!" Jo replied, her hand going to your chin so she could kiss you properly.
///
"So... the Shepherd charm worked, ey?" Amelia teased as she watched Jo gazing after you, smirking slightly as Jo turned to look at her.
"Shepherd charm? Pff, please, I charmed her." Jo smirked before hurrying over to where you were waiting for her.
"So, that movie comes out tonight and I was thinking we could get dinner too?" You smiled, chewing your lip as Jo gave it a thought.
"Dinner and a movie, that sounds like a date, Shepherd." Jo smirked, the two of you looping back to the nurses station to grab the tablets.
"Well, I'd hope so-" You fell silent as you spotted Amelia giving you a panicked look, eyes flicking to the people standing with her.
"Oof! Hey, why'd you stop? Are you okay?" Jo exclaimed as she all but walked into the back of your frozen body.
"Babe, what's wrong?" Jo whispered, trying to get your attention but you were looking over at some people in the distance, a horrified look on your face.
Jo's hand lingering on the small of your back didn't go unnoticed by Kathleen, who raised an eyebrow before seeing if Nancy had seen the same thing. Amelia's eyes widened as she realised what was happening, her jaw clenching as she spotted the judgemental looks that your sisters were throwing you and your, unbeknownst to them, girlfriend.
"Well, dear, how have you been?" Mama Shepherd enquired, turning to Amelia as she hadn't spotted you and Jo like your sisters had, yet.
"Uh, I'm fine, a lot of neuro consults to get to... what, what are you three doing here?" Amelia enquired, raising an eyebrow of confusion whilst masking the panic on her face.
"Well, neither you or Y/n have attended the last few family gatherings, so..." Nancy began to explain, raising an eyebrow as she realised you were walking over.
"And we wanted to make sure you weren't dead in a ditch somewhere... and you're here too, so that's two birds with one stone." Kathleen replied, brushing you off as you barely withheld rolling your eyes at your older sisters' attitudes.
"Well, it was nice seeing you but we have surgeries to do and-" Amelia began, trying to get you, her and Jo away from all the judgement.
"We're only here for two days, but we were hoping to all meet for dinner tonight, you can bring your... partners too." Nancy paused, looking over you as you winced under her gaze.
"Does he work here? Can I meet him?" Your mother enquired, making you realise she was talking to you.
"Uh, yeah... um..." your hand was shaking as Jo entwined her fingers with yours, squeezing your hand reassuringly as you let out a breath.
"This is Jo, uh, Doctor Jo Wilson... my girlfriend. I, I like girls."
"Oh! Well... that's, nice to meet you?" Nancy spluttered, taken by surprise as Jo stepped forwards, shoulder to shoulder with you as you clung to her hand for dear life.
Your eyes flickered from Nancy to Kathleen as your older sister scoffed slightly, almost smirking.
"Oh, wait, you're being serious? It's not some temporary arrangement because you're lonely?" Kathleen asked, gesturing between you and Jo as Jo clenched her jaw, holding her tongue as your grip on her hand waivered with anxiety.
Tears filled your eyes as your gaze shifted to your mother and her blank expression, she was finally looking at you.
Your mouth opened to speak but your phone buzzed with a page.
"I'm needed in the OR." Your voice was wavering as you turned to walk away, not seeing how Nancy was giving you a concerned look as Kathleen rolled her eyes.
///
"Kepner paged me too, guess she needed cardio and a resident." Jo explained as you and her got ready to scrub in.
"Hey, you know Kathleen likes to try alienate you, don't let her get to you, go be a superhero in that OR." Amelia rallied you, massaging your shoulders to remove the tension as Jo frowned at the anger on your face.
"Kathleen is the sister who called me a mistake when I was seventeen because I crashed her car. She's never apologised for it." You explained as you and Jo moved over to the scrub room sinks.
"Well, you're definitely not. Let's not let Kathleen get in your head, not when you have a patient to save. You're a freaking superhero, remember? Now go in there and be a superhero!" Amelia replied, nodding as you let out a breath, holding your arms up before going to walk into the OR.
A squeak left your lips as a hand slapped your ass playfully, your gaze meeting Jo's smirk before you realised Amelia was the culprit.
"Get in there!" Amelia cheered, smiling as you chuckled, Jo following you into the OR.
"Hey, Kepner, you ready to go?" You smiled, rolling your shoulders and cracking your neck as you were gloved up and ready to go.
It was only when you entered the sterile field and looked up that you felt your heart drop to your stomach.
"For fucks sake." You growled, glaring at the floor as April raised an eyebrow, whilst Jo's eyeline went up to see what you had seen.
"Everything okay?"
"Unwelcome older sisters in the gallery." Jo quietly explained, glancing at you as you began to work.
"Oh, well, I know what it's like to have annoying sisters, Shepherd, trust me." April remarked, sighing as she thought back to her sisters at her bridal shower for her and Matthew's wedding.
Jo snorted, grinning under her mask as you let out a quiet laugh, hoping your sisters didn't hear that up in the gallery.
The vitals machines going off stole your attention however.
"Patient's crashing!"
///
Amelia's face fell as she entered the OR gallery, spotting Kathleen and Nancy sat watching you.
"One of epi! Charge paddles to 120! Clear!" You exclaimed as you tried to bring the patient back to a sinus rhythm.
"Charge to 150! Clear!"
"Sinus rhythm." you let out a breath, meeting April's eyes as the two of you continued to work. Jo smiled as she glanced up at the gallery, meeting Amelia's eyes as she smiled back.
///
"They've gone. But they insist on dinner, including you, Wilson." Amelia explained as you and Jo scrubbed out at the end of the surgery.
The patient was going to make it.
"Ugh... did you try saying we had surgeries?" You asked, running your hands down your face as Amelia grimaced.
"They saw the OR board. But they don't know that we're all on call, so at least we have that if we need to get out." Amelia explained, reaching over to squeeze your hand, stopping you from playing with your fingers.
"Where's the dinner being held anyway?" Jo enquired, wrapping her arm around your waist so she could pull you closer to her, smiling when you leaned into her.
"Meredith's, but I can't cook, Maggie and Meredith are at the hospital tonight, so... Owen is cooking then leaving before they get there. Emphasis on before!" Amelia explained, lightly whacking you on the arm when you let out a breath of relief at her not cooking.
"This dinner is going to be hell." You whispered, leaning further into Jo as she wrapped her arms around you, pulling you into her lap as the three of you sat in the attending's lounge, ignoring how Jo was a resident. She was chief resident anyway.
"Hey... I love you." Jo whispered, her hand going to your chin so she could pull you into a kiss.
"I love you too." You whispered back, closing the distance.
"Okay, leave room for unicorn jesus!" Amelia coughed, interrupting the two of you before any kind of make-out session could occur.
"Spoil sport." You whined, smiling as Jo pressed one single kiss to your neck before Amelia interrupted.
"I'm still here you know!" She teased, smirking slightly as Jo swallowed nervously and you rolled your eyes.

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 20 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
You stood in the doorway to the ambulance bay with Steph and Penny, watching the van leave with Jo, Jackson, Meredith, Bailey and Callie in it.
"So, what do we- oh, no, no, why are there cheerleaders in the ER?" You whisper-yelled to Penny and Steph. Neither of them were aware about your history with cheerleaders.
You were treating one of the cheerleaders when you heard what the cheerleader known as Chelsea said to Lisa, as Steph and Penny were checking on them.
"Danielle's the one that threw us off. She didn't put her weight on her heel, which she knows she has to-OW!"
Steph frowned as she noticed you wave over someone to take over.
"S/n, are you okay?"
A cheerleader called Danielle was in the hospital after a performance went wrong.
"Y/n, what's wrong?" Arizona spotted you walking over, a far away look on your face that was enough to shut Webber up about Arizona and April hiding gossip from him.
"There is a cheerleader called Danielle in the hospital."
"Oh, oh god, okay, let's walk this way, let's go sit in the NICU, okay?" Arizona suggested, taking you by the arm away from the situation.
"Does S/n have a fear of cheerleaders or something?" April asked, but the look on Webber's face said that he knew something April didn't.
///
"How are you feeling now?" Arizona approached you, she'd placed an orphaned newborn in your arms and left you to calm down, hearing your quiet mutters that the baby is loved and will grow up with a happy family.
"I miss her you know, you never really get over that first love..." You murmured, cooing as the newborn began to fuss.
///
"It must be nice, being married to the chief." Steph sighed, leaning back in her seat in the gallery.
"Look at Wilson, all she has to do is sleep with Grey's BFF, of course she gets the wonder surgery." Penny added, leaving DeLuca to complain.
"Oh, come on. You're, I mean, you're seeing Torres, right?"
"Callie doesn't give me anything." Penny explained, glancing around the gallery for ears listening in.
"Besides, she was dating Torres before she even started working here. She's not nailing an attending to get ahead." Steph interjected, leaving DeLuca to sigh.
"I don't think that's what's going on here."
"Really? Really? Warren's married to the chief, so he's scrubbed in on a surgery, whilst we're stuck watching up here. You don't think the two are related?" Steph suggested, a frown crossing her features.
Hannah froze as she listened in on Steph, Penny and DeLuca's conversation, getting up to slip out and head back to the ER.
///
You were still up in the NICU when Jo came back from the military hospital, having seen you had texted her.
"Doctor Robbins, have you seen Braces?" Jo enquired, leaving Arizona to smile and nod as she gestured to where you were asleep in the NICU.
"Hey, Braces, wake up..." Jo gently nudged you, hearing you murmuring in your sleep for a moment until a tiny foot got you in the head.
"Ow... thanks for the wake-up call." You murmured, looking up at the newborn before spotting how Jo was smiling.
"What?" You whispered, standing up so you could move away and stop disturbing the newborns.
"I don't get how you can spend so much time with the newborns without wanting one." Jo admitted, watching you staring at the newborns.
"You know why I don't, Joey."
"You're afraid you'd be like your parents?" Jo asked, watching you glare at the floor.
"I don't even want to think about the trauma a child could see, if that child got a glimpse of what we went through."
You just weren't sure anyone would want to raise a child with you, and you knew if you did it alone, you'd mess it all up.
///
The feeling of eyes being on you was your sixth sense. A sense you'd adapted and grown since working at that shady bar during your gap year. Because when you weren't aware of eyes on you, glasses were thrown and shards ended up in your back. One deep enough to scar.
But that was a story for another time, and Jo had already had a field day about you hiding injuries, especially after everything the two of you had been through.
"Why is Webber staring at everyone?" You murmured as you were stood talking with Doctor Pierce about a cardio case.
A hum left your lips as Jo swooped past, giving you a side-hug before she continued to walk with Callie.
///
"When a bed-ridden patient stays in one place, what happens?" Webber asked, leaving Warren to answer with 'bedsores'.
"When a surgeon stays in one place, what happens?"
"One of us has bedsores?" Steph hesistantly asked, her voice going up an octave as you realised what was happening.
"Stagnation. Compliancy. A limited mind. You have a short time to learn here, people, and you've snuggled up to your specialties like a warm comfy bed. I am your alarm clock, I'm pulling you out of bed and broadening your education. This is a resident scramble." Doctor Webber announced, waving around a bed pan full of papers.
"This is filled with attendings names. Come on up and draw your new service, at random." Webber announced, holding out the bed pan as Steph put her hand up.
"Bingo! Shepherd!"
"Back! Put it back!" Webber exclaimed, leaving you and Jo to laugh as Steph grumbled.
///
Jo had Grey. Steph was on peds. Penny was with Shepherd. Warren was in fetal surgery. You were with Doctor Torres.
This meant you were sat in the gallery watching a surgery by Grey, Pierce and Torres, after having checked all of Torres' post and pre-op patients.
///
"Did you know this is urine? I've been urinated on three times today-"
"What did you expect from babies?" Penny chuckled as Steph went for more hand soap.
"I'm talking about puppies-"
"Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope." You interrupted, immediately covering your ears and pacing up and down.
"What's up with her?" Penny asked, looking at Jo as Steph kept washing her hands at the sinks.
"She's afraid of dogs." Jo explained, grabbing you and pulling you into a hug so you'd stop pacing.
///
"-yeah, I like Wilson."
"Do you?" Doctor Pierce asked as you walked in.
You heard Grey's voice whilst looking for Doctor Torres.
"She thinks you hate her." You interjected, leaving Meredith, Callie and Maggie to turn around to acknowledge how you were standing in the doorway.
You grimaced as you pushed your back into the doorframe so that Doctor Grey could exit the room.
///
"You're right. I am hard on you. Alex hasn't had it easy. Everyone he's ever been with has run away, or stolen his job, or gone crazy, or broken his heart. None of them stick, and he doesn't deserve to take another hit." Meredith explained as you and Jo were getting changed from your scrubs into normal clothes.
Jo nodded in agreement at what Meredith said, whilst you busied yourself by pretending the wall was the most interesting thing in the residents lounge.
"But the point is, I, I, I am sorry for squashing you like a bug, or whatever it is that I do." Doctor Grey apologised, leaving Jo to thank her.
"But you know, you are what you allow, and if you let them pluck off your shiny little insect wings, they will. S/n has her sass to stop them, but you, Wilson, don't let them, don't let me, understood?" Meredith asked, about to leave when she added something before she left.
"And for the record, Wilson, I am rooting for you to stick."
Jo smiled softly as Meredith left, that smile turning into a grin as you hugged Jo from behind, hearing you murmur your agreement with Meredith into the back of her neck.
///
"Why aren't you down there?" DeLuca asked Cross as he sat down next to him in the gallery.
"I was on the procurement. Why aren't you down there, don't you have an all-access OR pass now?"
DeLuca frowned, turning to Cross as he scoffed.
"Chief of Cardio? So smart. But a guy who looks like you can get anyone. There's no way I'm going to land an attending. A resident maybe, I mean, Wilson... but she's with Karev, Blake, Brody and S/n like ladies. Brody's an intern like us but... hm, Edwards maybe? She's hot, and she's tight with Shepherd so that wouldn't help either, do you think I have a shot?" Cross asked, leaving DeLuca to tell him to go.
"You should go, because I'm about to nut-punch you." DeLuca stated as you cleared your throat, revealing yourself to have been sat behind them in the gallery.
"If he doesn't, I will. Leave, Parsley." You growled, watching as Cross' face fell and he ran away.

"Hey, are you alright?" Hannah spotted you staring at the OR board, unmoving and unreactive.
"What? Uh, yeah, just Parsley being disgusting and wanting to date a resident or attending so he can get in on surgeries." You gagged, leaving Hannah to grimace.
"I had to tell him I had a girlfriend so he'd stop staring and trying to ask me out." Hannah explained, leaving you to nod.
"Yeah, he asked me out and I ended up having to tell him I was massively gay. Are you still okay with us not being public?" You quietly asked, the two of you pretending to be talking about a surgery every time someone walked past.
"After everything with DeLuca and Pierce? I like our private moments. Plus, it's safer for our careers." Hannah replied, smiling softly before she headed off down to the ER.
///
"Doctor S/n, Doctor Torres just went up to surgery for a trauma case and Doctor Robbins isn't available." Hannah explained, passing you the tablet.
"Oh... wow, yeah, I have to scrub in on a transplant so I can't, Doctor Blake should be available though, just be careful because I don't think Penny has met Sofia as Callie's girlfriend yet... maybe page Torres again too." You warned, leaving Hannah to pause as you said something else.
"You deserve someone you can be with publicly, without putting a risk at your career." You stated, leaving Hannah to let out a sigh.
"You're too good, Y/n. You're nothing like the rumours say, and I'm glad I got to know the real you." Hannah smiled before walking away to find Doctor Blake.
///
"The winner of the grant is awarded one full research year in residence at the Preminger Research Centre. Each attending will nominate one candidate and summit them to the Chief of Surgery, who will then review and make a decision based on... oh! I didn't know I was eligible to apply!" Penny read off the Preminger grant application papers, you were watching her from where you were laying on the floor of Jo and Alex's loft, having completed your application but not submitted it yet.
"You gonna apply?" Steph asked, taking a sip of her wine as Penny walked back towards her chair.
"No, I just got to Grey Sloan, I can barely find the bathroom." Penny admitted as she sat down.
"Okay, I'm done." "Me too." Jo and Steph announced, leaving you to sigh.
"Finally. Shall we submit?" You asked, leaving Jo to roll her eyes and throw a cushion at you.
"1, 2, 3." The three of you pressed submit.
///
"So, why are you sulking?" Jo asked as she spotted you staring at a tablet.
"I think Hannah and I broke up? I don't know, it wasn't dramatic or explosive or teary so I have no idea if we did or what. We aren't avoiding each other, but, I'm so confused. Relationships are confusing, why didn't you tell me this before I actually had one that lasted more than two weeks?" You grumbled, running your hands down your face as Jo smiled.
"At least you grew out of the one night stands and had a healthy relationship that lasted more than two weeks. With a co-worker too, that's a lot of growth from when you were rejecting Leah." Jo acknowledged, leading you to sigh as Steph walked over and started talking about a hot guitar player she had to hold hands with during a brain surgery.
"Oh, I had sex this morning." Jo grinned, leaving you to gag and Steph to glare.
"Okay, I didn't want to know that, thanks Joey... ugh." You shook off, walking away to spot Hannah gesturing for you to meet her in a supply closet.
///
"Did we break up?" You asked as Hannah chewed her lip.
"Yeah, I think we did. But, honestly, it was the nicest breakup I've had and that hurts, but it makes sense. I think, for what it was worth Y/n, what we had, even though it was short, you were the sweetest and I don't regret a thing." Hannah monologued, kissing your cheek before heading to the door.
"I don't regret you either... I'm glad you were my first relationship that lasted more than two weeks, because you're an amazing person and I think you're going to go far in your surgical residency and afterwards. Thank you, Hannah." You smiled, leaving Hannah to smile back as she opened the door.
"Thank you too, Y/n."

Baby Shepherd - Part 1 - Jo Wilson x Shepherd!Sister!Reader
Summary: It's not easy to keep a secret from your older sister, Amelia. Let alone keep an entire relationship hidden from her and everyone else at Grey Sloan Memorial. Yet you and Jo were doing exactly that.
It started with lingering gazes as the other walked by. The brushing of hands when you were passing charts, accidently rubbing shoulders when everyone was crowding the elevators.
///
"So, what do you think I should get?" Amelia enquired, waving her fork in front of your face as she realised you were not listening.
"Are you even- okay, who are we looking at? Who caught your eye? Oh, she's cute, is it her?" Amelia followed your eyeline, smirking as you immediately turned your gaze to your lunch when Amelia had pointed out the girl you were looking at.
"Aw, come on! She's cute, and you think she's cute too, that's why your ears are burning!" Amelia teased, grinning as you huffed.
///
Jo didn't think you even liked girls; you didn't think Jo would ever like you back.
The moment the two of you realised that you were wrong was electrifying. The two of you were stood in one of the labs, looking over a patient's scans as the two of you had made the same diagnosis at once.
You'd turned to face each other, grins on your faces. Neither of you could deny the magnetism as the two of you were leaning in. You were quicker to duck back after giving Jo the most tentative kiss you could. You didn't expect her hands to go to your face, pulling you back in. Electrifying tingles ran through both your bodies as you broke the kiss, staring at each other before you both remembered you were at work and had patients to attend to.
The two of you stole looks at each other throughout the work day, wishing you could hurry away and get to know each other a little better.
///
It turned into sneaking away to dark corners or hidden spaces to make out or cuddle.
Jo tugging at your lab coat was the signal that she needed comfort from you, whether it was a long hug or a gentle but comforting kiss, you would drop everything for her. Your hand balled up to pull her close to you was one of Jo's favourite ways for a kiss to be initiated too.
Your signal was a little more visual than tactile.
Your girlfriend could see the exhaustion in your eyes, so she'd offer to scrub in on the surgery with Hunt, to allow you to get some sleep. Whispering sweet words in your ear when she felt like she hadn't seen you in hours, her hand lingering on the small of your back as you leaned into her.
But you and Jo did slip up keeping the relationship hidden, more than once.
///
"Hey, Wilson. I noticed you keep staring at Baby Shepherd. Do you have the hots for my baby sister or something?" Amelia raised an eyebrow, a smug smile on her face as she approached Jo at the nurses station.
Jo snorted at Amelia's question, a smile poking at the corners of her lips, "sure, yeah," internally smirking because Jo was dating Baby Shepherd and nobody else knew.
Amelia smiled at Jo's response laughing along as Jo chuckled, unaware of the inside joke under the surface.
///
"Let me finish your charts, you need to eat something." Jo affirmed, taking the charts from your hands as you huffed.
"Hey, you let me nap by checking on my post-op patients, let me do this for you." Jo bargained, nudging you in the hip so you would go eat.
Jo smiled as she spotted you returning a little while later, two cups of coffee and a brown paper bag of pastries in your hands, heading over to her.
"Oooh! Thank you, Baby Shep!" Amelia grinned, swiping one of the coffees as you tried to cover the look of shock on your face with an awkward smile.
Jo met your eyes as you pouted, watching Amelia take a large glug of Jo's coffee, grimacing as she realised this was not her order.
"This isn't what I'd usually order." Amelia remarked, smacking her lips together as she processed the unusual flavours.
"They were out of what you usually get." You fibbed, biting your lip as you spotted Jo grinning into her hand, barely holding her laughter inside.
///
You'd been aiming to kiss Jo on the cheek when you spotted someone rounding the corner, stumbling back as you whispered "shit!", eyes widening as Jo took your face in her hands and told you to trust her.
///
Amelia let out a breath as she continued down the hallway, aiming to get to the ER for the neuro consult that had been requested.
Rounding the corner, she paused mid-step, eyes landing on you and Jo, her hands on your cheeks.
"Hold still! You have an eyelash in your eye and moving is only going to make it hurt more!" Jo fawned over you, holding your face still as she worked to gently blow the eyelash out of your eye.
"Okay, I got it!" Jo grinned, moving her hands to your shoulders before your hand shot up to give her an awkward handshake.
"Thanks..."
"What are you- oh, Doctor Shepherd, hi!" Jo waved, spotting Amelia looking over, watching the pair of you.
"I'm gonna go..." You murmured, shuffling past Jo to head down the corridor, until you ended up coming back, mumbling curses under your breath as you headed past Jo again.
"Can't get enough of me, Shepherd?" Jo teased, laughing as you stuck your middle finger up at her as you walked away, in the right direction this time.
///
You and Jo were in the ER when Amelia saw the weird touching between the two of you again.
Jo's hand lingered on the small of your back, holding you in place as a gurney flew by, almost taking you both out.
Amelia didn't see Jo smile at you as you muffled out a 'thanks' whilst holding the tablet to your chest.
///
Jo was a tease. She loved to tease you.
Whether it was brushing a piece of hair from your face, right as your sister was walking over, or whispering in your ear before hurrying away, leaving your flustered self to deal with Amelia's confused face.
The worse moment Jo picked to tease you in public though, was in the crowded hospital elevator.
Jo had her back up against the elevator wall, whilst you stood in front of her, facing the same direction as to watch the numbers light up to signal what floor you were going to.
Your girlfriend's hands sneaking around your waist took you by surprise at first, quickly batting them away as you gave Jo a look to remind her the two of you were in public, jaw dropping slightly as Jo just smirked, her fingers hovering over your waist as she directed her gaze on the elevator numbers.
///
Jo paging you to an on-call room always left you with excitement running through you as you snuck away to meet her.
It was a classic move, Jo, the pager, the on-call room locked behind you, and no interruptions.
Your back was against the door as soon as it had shut behind you, Jo locked it whilst maintaining eye contact with you, a smile on her lips before the two of you closed the distance and your hands went to Jo's shoulders.
You were walking Jo back to land on the bed, her hands running under your scrub top and the two of you barely breaking apart, until your pagers decided to say otherwise.
"Goddammit!" Jo whined, reaching for her pager as you sat up to grab yours.
"Needed in the OR." The two of you realised at once, sharing looks as you both headed down there.
///
"You two have a fight or something? You're looking at each other rather intensely?" Owen enquired, glancing up from where he was working, whilst Jo assisted and you watched the monitors for any cardiac issues.
"No, nothing like that." You clenched your jaw, glaring at the monitors hard enough that if they could crack, they probably would have.
Jo bit her tongue to avoid saying anything that could have Owen realise the two of you were together, her eyes locked onto the trauma patient's injury so he couldn't read her expression too.
///
"So close to screwing my girl's brains out..." Jo grumbled as she began to write up the post-op notes from the surgery that Owen had paged you and her for.
"Good for you, Wilson." Amelia's voice had Jo jumping in place, almost dropping the tablet as her head whipped around to acknowledge the fact your older sister had just heard Jo muttering about screwing your brains out, without directly referencing you.
///
"Oh, oh my god!" Steph yelped, recoiling as she walked in on a scene she definitely did not want to see.
"Shouldn't we go after her?" You panicked, staring at the door that Steph had fled from after covering her eyes.
"Well, we'd have to put our clothes back on first," Jo was cut off as you threw her scrub top at her, reaching for your clothes with one hand as you texted Steph to talk and explain with the other.
///
"God, you two literally can't keep your hands off each other, can you? Jo, stop acting like a horny teenage boy! Ugh, being single sucks!" Steph complained as she'd sat down to try read some articles for your sister.
"It's not my fault kissing her is so addictive-" Jo teased, pulling your bottom lip between her teeth as Steph groaned, picking up her stuff to leave.
"Those two are like damn energiser bunnies on caffeine!" Steph grumbled, sitting down in the neuro lab.
"Who are like energiser bunnies on caffeine?" Amelia reiterated, quirking a brow as Steph's jaw dropped.
"Uh, Doctor Webber and Catherine Avery." Steph spluttered, grimacing as Amelia's face fell into disgust.
"I did not need to know that, Edwards, urgh, yuck!" Amelia gagged, walking away as Steph let out a sigh of relief.
///
"Can I ask? What's with the snow globes?" Jo enquired as she wandered around your apartment, watching you rummage in the laundry closet for another towel.
"I collect them. Those are all the ones I own, minus my favourite one. My ex smashed it." You explained, shrugging as Jo gave you a concerned look.
"Come on, I really need a shower." You gently pulled Jo towards the bathroom, smiling as Jo leaned in to steal a kiss.
///
"Was that your door?" Jo whispered, wrapping her arm around your waist as the two of you stood under the showerhead.
"Sh, I think Amelia's here..." You whispered back, pecking Jo on the lips before turning the shower pressure up slightly.
"Hey, I need your advice on a dress for my date tonight, can you take a look at these dresses-"
"NO!" You yelped, spotting Amelia's hand going to grab the shower curtain to pull it back.
"Jeez, okay, grumpy pants." Amelia retorted, tapping her foot as you stuck your head around the curtain, hiding Jo from view as she moved to kiss the other side of your neck and shoulder.
"So, it's supposed to be a dinner and but he said it's just casual, but how casual is casual, y'know?" Amelia rambled, not hearing the shampoo bottle be bumped over by Jo as she moved to start kissing your collarbone, moving down to your sternum until you pulled her back up to face level.
Your eyes widened at the thunk from the shampoo bottle as it fell, wincing as it narrowly avoided hitting your toes. Jo raised her eyebrows as you glanced at the bottle, knowing you couldn't pick it up without Amelia seeing Jo's silhouette in the shower.
So the shampoo bottle stayed on the shower floor.
Your breathing began to quicken as Jo nipped at your earlobe, smirking as you screwed your eyes shut, trying not to make a sound.
"Uh, you okay in there?" Amelia raised an eyebrow as you tugged the shower curtain to cover you more.
"Yeah, I just, the water is just so relaxing, ugh, I really needed this." You bluffed, catching Jo by the wrists as she began to wander them down to your waist.
"Cardio has you this wound up? I'll keep the bathroom door open, or it's gonna be a sauna in here." Amelia replied, stepping over to the door as Jo nipped at your pulse point on your neck.
"No... urf, no it's fine like this." You stuttered out, giving Jo a pleading look as Amelia shuffled around on the other side of the curtain.
"Are you sure? Maybe you should turn the shower down, you sound funny?" Amelia suggested, pausing as you adjusted the shower head to hit Jo a bit more than you.
"So, which one? Which dress?" Amelia enquired, holding the two options up for you to look.
"T-there... oh! Sorry, foot cramp!" You squeaked, glaring at Jo to remove her hand from your thigh.
"What do you mean 'there'?" Amelia retorted, looking between the two options as you peeked your head around the curtain.
"That one."
"Really? That one?" Amelia reiterated, staring at it for a while before she nodded.
"Yeah, it'll do, thanks, little one! Darn, I left my make-up with Maggie!" Amelia realised, quickly heading out of your apartment as fast as she had arrived.
Jo smirked as your forehead landed on her shoulder, pressing innocent kisses to the crown of your head as you panted.
"Aw, babe, is the heat getting to you? Do you need it turning down, or are you going to return the favour?" Jo teased, echoing what your sister had said, smirking as you punched her shoulder gently.
Her eyes widened for a second as you grabbed her by the waist, pulling her into a smuldering kiss, the shower water raining down on the two of you.
///
A pout crossed your lips as you watched Jo pick up another powdered doughnut, licking her lips, her eyebrows rose as you avoided her gaze.
It was only when Jo caught your gaze whilst she was licking her fingers that she put two and two together.
"Here. Want one?" Jo pushed the box towards DeLuca, who paused as he looked down at the box.
"It's the last one, you should have it." Andrew argued, about to push the box back to Jo.
"Nah, I'm a giver." Jo replied, catching your eye as a smirk crossed her lips.
///
"Well, Wilson got laid." The rumour mill whispered, leaving others to frown.
"How can you tell?"
"Because yesterday, she was all grumpy, and you know, pent-up. I honestly thought she was going to rip Karev a new asshole. But today? She's walking on sunshine and rainbows. She got laid." The person affirmed, pointing Jo out as she walked by, beaming.
///
Jo hummed as she reached for a grape, wrapping her arm around your waist as the two of you cuddled up on the attendings lounge. Your fingers rustled around a packet of crisps as the attendings' lounge door opened, you flying out of Jo's arms to the other end of the couch as Jackson Avery walked in.
Jo pouted slightly as she brought the grape up to her lips, glaring at Jackson's back as he grabbed his lunch before heading out, leaving the room's occupacy to fall to two people again.
Jo's pout was re-directed to you as the 'c'mere' grabby hands were brought into play, luring you back into your favourite place, in Jo's lap.
///
Amelia sighed as she opened the supply closet door, immediately looking for the supplies that would help when she spotted you and Jo also looking for supplies.
"Ha! For a second I thought the two of you were- you know, I don't want to know what these walls have seen, or heard." Amelia chuckled, glancing around to find something else.
"Uh, I have to go, this patient in the clinic really needs this..." you rambled, hurrying out as Jo looked flabbergasted at how quickly you'd ran.
///
Jo sighed as she paced up and down the on-call room, waiting for you to see the page she'd sent, summoning you to finish what was started in the supply closet.
Biting her lip, she pulled her scrub top off over her head, smiling as she heard footsteps near the door.
Smirking, Jo stepped forwards to tackle you, only freezing when it was Amelia she was pining to the door, not you.
"Whoah! No, you weren't supposed to- not you!"
"Wilson, wow, I'm flattered, truly, but I'm already taken. I mean, if you're after some Shepherd action, I'm pretty sure Baby Shepherd would be up for it." Amelia chuckled, watching Jo scramble to pull her scrub top back on and hurry out.
///
"So, I saw way too much of Wilson than I needed to in the on-call room." Amelia began as she spotted you at the coffee cart.
"You what-" You spluttered, turning in the queue but Amelia jabbed you in the back as the worker passed you your drink.
"I told her she was going for the wrong Shepherd, because last time I checked, I'm taken and you're not. You can thank me later if it works out, because she's hot and so are you." Amelia teased, pinching your cheek as you pouted at her.
"You said that. You said that to Wilson?" You exclaimed, looking at Amelia in disbelief.
"Hey, I'm serious. Thank me later if it works out!" Amelia called after you as you were paged back inside.
///
"Amelia just told me you-" Jo's finger on your lips shushed you as you found her in the bathrooms, fixing her har at the sinks.
"No. I don't want to talk about it." Jo shushed you, pausing as you gave her a mix of puppy-dog eyes and insecurity.
"I thought I paged you, not her." Jo admitted, biting her lip as your eyes widened.
"Oh, crap."
///
"Page Shepherd!" Jo exclaimed as the post-op patient went from sinus rhythm to v-fib.
"Which one?" Steph paused, grabbing her pager.
"My Doctor Shepherd!" Jo answered, beginning CPR on the patient as Steph paged you.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Arizona whispered to herself, ducking behind the corner as you ran over. Her eyes widened as she watched you and Jo work in sync to bring the patient back to sinus rhythm, Jo's hand on the small of your back as you smiled at her.
"Hey, Alex. Remember how Wilson rejected you?" Arizona spotted Alex writing on a chart.
"I almost forgot. Thanks for reminding me... why are you bringing this up anyway? She said I wasn't her type." Alex grumbled, frowning as Arizona grinned.
"Well, I think I figured out her type and, sorry honey but it was never going to be you..." Arizona apologised, biting her lip as she watched you and Jo interact from the corner of her eye.
"What, why?"
"Because that girl is definitely fruity." Arizona giggled, smirking as Alex looked at her in confusion.
///
"Uh, I, I got something for you." Jo held said something behind her back as she watched you unload groceries from their bags into your kitchen.
"Yeah?" You murmured, putting down the bag of carrots as Jo placed something in your hands.
"I know it's not like the one your ex smashed, that Derek got you, but I saw it and thought of you." Jo explained as you looked down at the snow globe she'd placed in your hands.
Your eyes widened as you looked over the snow globe, a smile poking at your lips as you turned it in your hands to take in all the detail.
It was bubbling slightly, but you didn't care as you placed it on the counter, smiling as you spotted Jo's smirk.
"So, do you like it-" Jo let out a huff of air as you pulled her into a tight hug, feeling your arms around her waist. Her smirk melted into a smile as you didn't let go, wrapping her arms around you to hold you in place as you spoke, "I love it."
///
"That's new. Where'd you find that one?" Amelia enquired, pointing her forkful of salad at the snow glove that Jo had gotten you as a gift.
"It was a gift." You smiled, pausing in sipping your water as Amelia raised an eyebrow.
"Who's getting you gifts? You got a secret girlfriend or something?"
"Yeah, I do actually." You glanced up to see Amelia's reaction, but she just chuckled, assuming you were being sarcastic and continuing to eat her salad instead.
///
"Hey, come on, you need to sleep." You poked Jo in the ribs as she began to try nap on the nurses station.
"But I'm starving!" Jo groaned, looking up at you to see you chewing your lip.
"You can sleep in the car, let's go." You suggested, gently leading Jo to your car so that the two of you could go get food away from the prying eyes of hospital staff.
Jo had been out like a light as soon as she sat down in your car and put her seatbelt on, a soft sigh leaving her lips as she relaxed into the comfort of sleep.
Adjusting the heat, you were careful to make sure Jo didn't get cold as she napped in the passenger seat of your car, eyes on the road as you pulled up to the drivethru and ordering for the both of you.
The smell of food managed to arouse Jo from her slumber, the two of you sat cross-legged, facing each other in the back seats and trying a little bit of everything that you had ordered.
A giggle escaped your lips as Jo looked up, her mouth full of food but she was still grinning and looking at you like a child on Christmas morning.
///
"Hey, where were you during your break? I was looking for you all over?" Amelia asked as she spotted you walking by.
"I ate out."
Amelia quirked a brow, side-eyeing you as you paused mid-step, face feeling like it was on fire as you realised how bad that sounded.
"Not like that!" You spluttered, looking at Amelia in horror as she smirked, not believing you for a second.
///
Baby Shep: yeah, let's hope amelia doesn't turn up in my bathroom asking me to pick a date outfit for her when we're in the shower together this time
Big Sis Amelia: what??!
Big Sis Amelia: I'm Amelia?!
Big Sis Amelia: who was this supposed to be sent to?
Big Sis Amelia: hang on, did you even like the dress you picked for me?
Baby Shep: yeah, of course I did!
Big Sis Amelia: you didn't even look, did you? you were too busy having shower sex with a mystery girl
Big Sis Amelia: i was literally on the other side of the curtain!
Baby Shep: i'm sorry?
Big Sis Amelia: was it anyone I know?
Big Sis Amelia: was it good?
///
Y/n: So, amelia now knows i wasn't alone in the shower when she came in asking me to pick a date outfit for her
Jo: omg what, how did she find that out?
Y/n: I accidently texted her instead of you
Jo: omg
Y/n: I can't look her in the eye
Jo: i'm sorry babe, but that's hilarious
Y/n: just be glad it was amelia i texted and not any of my other sisters...
Jo: she doesn't know it was me, right?
Y/n: no, i don't think so
///
Baby Shep: which one for tonight?
Baby Shep: 2 attached photos
Big Sis Amelia: the red one, but I really don't think I should answer this
Big Sis Amelia: have fun tonight, but please check the contact details before you send me something I definitely do not need to see!
Baby Shep: omg i'm so sorry!
///
Y/n: I need to stop texting you and amelia at the same time
Jo: what happened?
Y/n: you don't want to know
///
You had two instagram accounts. One that was for friends and co-workers, and one that had your sisters on it.
Of course you'd upload a photo from your date with Jo on the wrong account.
"How was your date last night?"
You were staring at a CT scan of an aortic aneurysm when Amelia asked.
"Oh, it went great, thanks- wait, how do you know I went on a date?" Your eyes widened, feeling panic wash over you as Amelia chuckled, a smug smirk on her face.
"Well, if it wasn't for you asking me what lingerie to wear and sending me photos, I'd say the photo you uploaded to your social media, you know, of the very obvious date setting. What did you get by the way, that food looked mouth-watering. It's too bad you picked a photo that barely had your date's hands in it." Amelia explained, pausing as she watched you hurriedly check your phone.
"Shit, Kathleen, Nancy and Liz have all seen it too... and so has Addison, great. I have to go do damage control, because they're going to blow that date post out of proportion." You realised, walking off as Amelia grimaced.
///
Big Sister Liz: I get the feeling you didn't mean to post that photo
Baby Shep: because i definitely did not mean to post that photo
Big Sister Liz: hope they treat you right
Baby Shep: <3
///
Big Sister Kathleen: you have a boyfriend and didn't tell anyone?
Mark unread?
///
Big Sister Nancy: Anniversary date? We didn't even know you were dating?
Mark unread?
///
Big Sister Addison: it's good to see you happy, Baby Shep
Baby Shep: <3
///
You were usually so careful with what photos you uploaded to which account. But you were just glad that you hadn't posted the other photo you had taken, with Jo grinning at the camera, wine glass in hand and clad in a stunning black dress.
You were shaken from your hypervigilance on checking through your sisters' messages by Jo paging you to an on-call room.
Rolling your shoulders back, a breath left your lips as you headed up to find your girlfriend.
///
"Hey, what's wrong?" Jo enquired as you walked in, locking the door and collapsing into her arms.
"I posted that photo of our date meal to the account that my sisters follow. So Nancy and Kathleen think I have a boyfriend, Liz hopes that you treat me right and Amelia asked in person how the date went. Addison's just happy I'm happy though... now I'm stressed." You explained, resting your forehead against Jo's as she let out a short breath.
"How about I give you some stress relief then?" Jo whispered, her nose brushing against your ear lobe as shivers ran down your spine, the backs of your knees hitting the on-call room bed behind you.
It was only when you looked around and realised something that the moment was ruined.
"Oh god, Jo, no, I can't orgasm in the same room my sister orgasmed whilst screwing Owen... I can't screw in the same bed as they did-" You gagged, tensing as Jo noticed your panic.
"Hey, whoah, how about we take this somewhere that they haven't? Like, every room of your apartment?" Jo pulled her bottom lip between her teeth as she awaited your response to her suggestion.
"That, that sounds like fun." You smiled, kissing Jo's cheek before you had to pull away, realising you were being paged.
///
Mama Shepherd: Your sister Kathleen showed me a photo whilst we were having lunch. You never told me you were seeing anyone? What is the name of the lucky fellow? Will I ever get to meet him? There isn't going to be an impulsive wedding invitation before I get to meet him, is there?
///
It was after shift that Jo had all but dragged you to her car, the two of you had been making out until your knee hit the horn and startled you both.
"Oh my god!" You whispered, ducking down as Jo burst out laughing, pressing her hands to her face as you stared at her in horror.
"Can we please drive back to my apartment before someone comes over here and see's that we definitely aren't fully clothed anymore?" You asked, biting your lip as Jo nodded, wiping away the tears of laughter.
///
Amelia should have known something was up when she sent you a message about coming over for dinner and you didn't respond. Or even read the message. She didn't expect what she would see when she came over to your apartment though.
"Well, I'll be damned!" Amelia's jaw dropped, eyes drifting over the scattered clothes before spotting you and Jo making out on your couch.
"Oh-OH MY GOD!" Jo's moan turned into a yell of horror as she spotted Amelia, whilst you looked up, immediately covering Jo with your body as you tried to pull the blanket that laid on the back of the couch over the two of you.
"Will you be staying for dinner?" Amelia nervously chuckled, making a beeline for the kitchen by stepping over the discarded clothes.
"We already ate." You retorted, reaching over the coffee table to pass Jo her hoodie.
"I did not need to know that." Amelia apprehensively hummed, opening your fridge and sticking her head into it so she didn't have to look at either of you.
Jo lightly whacked you on the arm as her eyes widened, making you realise how bad what you had just said sounded.
"No! I mean, we got pizza! There's leftovers in the fridge!" You corrected yourself, about to stand up but deciding against it when the blanket almost fell.
"So, um, how long has whatever's happening here, been happening? I mean, what is this? Obviously, naked, um, sex? Yeah, sex... or dating? Both or is it, um, what's happening here?" Amelia stammered, waving her hand around to gesture to you and Jo.
"I think we broke your sister." Jo admitted, her jaw dropped in shock as you bit your lip, nodding in agreement.

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 19 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
"Hey, Y/n, what are you doing tonight? Because there's uh, trivia night and I'm looking for a partner-" Arizona enquired, having spotted you updating charts.
"Uh, I'm busy tonight... I have a question actually, kind of board member question and since you're a member of the board... Has everyone forgotten about the non-fraternisation policy or was that thrown out the window when Bailey became chief?" You asked, rambling slightly until Arizona's eyes flashed with realisation.
"Which intern did you sleep with?"
"What- how did you-" You stammered, face melting into horror until Arizona laughed.
"Everyone's basically forgotten about the policy, almost like it was one of those plot points in a tv show that gets forgotten about a few seasons later. But, you didn't answer my question, which intern?" Arizona brushed off, raising her eyebrows you chewed your lip.
"I am not at liberty to disclose that information." Your eyes shut as you winced, waiting for Arizona to react.
"Wow, you sound like a lawyer." She chuckled, patting you on the shoulder as you opened your eyes again.
"My dormmate's boyfriend was studying law, we would all study together. I picked up some of the lingo, I guess." You admitted before Arizona was called away, leaving you to bite your lip worriedly.
Were you going to get Hannah into trouble and ruin her career by dating her?
///
"Is it snowing?" Hannah murmured as the two of you looked out of the on-call room window, turning her head she spotted you checking the news on your phone.
"Fire on Mount Baker. We should head down to the ER, they'll have burn victims incoming. It's going to be a busy shift." You murmured, leaning over to kiss Hannah, but diverting to kiss her cheek instead before you left.
///
You were sat debriding the burns of a patient's arm when you heard the patient room door open and close.
"Can I help you?" You asked, glancing up at Jo as she watched you debriding the burns, feeling the patient glance between the two of you.
"Alex's priorities are Doctor Grey, not me." Jo stated, sighing as you raised an eyebrow.
"And your priorities are Karev, not me. Have you tried talking to him?" You asked, wincing as the patient moaned at the pain of the debriding.
"Talking made it worse. Are you still having nightmares?" Jo asked, but you ignored her question when you saw how red her eyes were.
"He yelled, didn't he?" Your voice was low but Jo just nodded, leaving you to glare at the floor as you finished up the debriding.
"Y/n, have you debrided, irrigated and cleaned the wounds?" Steph asked as s he slipped into the room, leaving you to sigh.
"She just finished debriding, Braces knows what she's doing Steph, and so do I-"
"Oh my god, you both know what you're doing, you're capable surgical residents. It's just that Steph was recognised and we haven't been, Joey. Doesn't mean we aren't capable, because I happen to think all three of us are badass." You interjected, leaving Jo to sigh, apologising and admitting she'd missed you both.
///
You were standing at the fridge, looking through the freezer drawer for the ice cream you had stashed when your phone buzzed with Jo's ring tone.
Joey: i tried to tell him it wasn't working
Joey: he proposed
Braces: what did you say?
Joey: i said no
Joey: can i come in?
Braces: since when have you needed to ask? you have a key
/// 6 weeks later ///
Alex and Jo were back to living together in their loft, but apparently they were barely talking.
A car horn outside of the apartment had you running down the stairs, keys in hand as you hurriedly locked the door.
"Good morning!" Arizona cheered from the passenger seat, leaving you to chuckle as you climbed in the back, waving as you realised DeLuca was driving and April was in the back with you.
"You're cheery for an early morning."
"You should know by now, Y/n." April added, leaving you to laugh.
"Yeah, walking rainbow, literally and figuratively." A gasp leaving your mouth as you were passed your coffee order.
///
"Hey, you're coming over tonight with everyone else, right?" Jo asked as she spotted you getting ready to scrub in on a surgery.
"Yeah, sure, but I'm bringing ice cream." You stated, leaving to Jo nod in realisation.
"Have you taken some pain meds yet?"
"Yeah, they kicked in like half an hour ago. I'm fine, but ice cream is a requirement for tonight."
///
You were sat on Jo's couch, listening to her talking to Penny about her problems with Alex as you ate spoonfuls of ice cream. Steph and Ben were getting wine whilst watching you in amusement, smiles on their faces as you rolled your eyes at everyone's drama.
"Maybe I should just move back in with you, Braces. But then I'd probably interrupt whatever you've got going on with you know who?" Jo asked, watching you groan at the brain freeze.
"Wait, who are you dating?" "Since when were you dating anyone?" you glared at both Ben's and Steph's questions.
"I am not at liberty to disclose that information." Your voice was muffled through the ice cream in your mouth, leaving Jo to roll her eyes.
"Women are just as impossible." Penny stated, leaving you to almost offer her some ice cream. Almost.
///
"S/n, come on, we've got the 3D printed sternum and ribs surgery now. Wilson and Pierce are already scrubbing in." Callie hurried you along from where you were talking to Hannah.
///
"Wilson, S/n, I know that you can pull harder than that!" Torres exclaimed as you, and Jo worked on retracting the rib cage so the 3D printed part could be placed.
"1, 2, 3!"
"Oh crap, she's been under too long, she's starting to fluid overload!" Maggie exclaimed as the vitals monitors began to go off.
///
It was after surgery, you were running down the stairs when you spotted it.
"Oh god, sorry!" You exclaimed, running past Penny and Callie as they were making out in the stairwell.
You were running through the carpark when you took an unfortunate look into Meredith's car, spotting her and Maggie rolling their eyes as Jo and Alex were making out in the back seats.
"Everyone's getting some but me-" You complained as you slipped into her car, feeling the car engine hum as Hannah drove out of the hospital car park, pulling over eventually.
"How about I change that?" She smiled, leaning in to close the gap between the two of you.
///
"I told Alex to keep the ring in the drawer." Jo stated, finding you at your apartment, eating popcorn on the couch as Hannah laid in your arms.
"He's better than the others you've dated," You pointed out, watching Jo smile, "but he still has 206 bones I can break if he breaks your heart, you know that, right?"
"How long have you and Lilac been a thing then?" Jo asked, taking a handful of popcorn from the bowl in your arms.
"She's my longest relationship." You chewed your lip, leaving Jo to pause.
"She's an intern though, if the hospital found out, her career-"
"I respect her too much to put her career on the line for me. But it's going to hurt like hell, even the idea of giving her up hurts. She's amazing, Joey." You whispered, running your fingers over Hannah's cheek as she slept in your arms.

"Clutch, clutch, put down the clutch-"
"I'm trying to remember which pedal it is!" You exclaimed, eventually putting your foot down on the crutch as the engine stopped spluttering and making the car shake.
"Braces, you need to hit the brakes harder-" Jo was cut off as the car jerked to a rough stop, "not that hard!"
"Can you stop doing that, you're making me nervous." You stated, spotting how Jo was gripping the seat tightly.
"I'm making you nervous?" Jo exclaimed, her foot moving instantly like she was hitting the brake pedal.
"Stop trying to hit the brakes, you don't have a pedal." You deadpanned as you managed to successful turn into the hospital car park.
"Um..." You murmured, leaving Jo to freeze.
"What's wrong? Did you hit something-"
"I don't know how to park, or put it in reverse." You explained, leaving Jo to pause.
"Uh, okay, turn the engine off, I'll park it, let's swap seats." Jo stated, clicking her seatbelt off as you managed to put the handbrake on and turn the engine off.
You were out of the car first, ignoring how other members of the hospital staff were around as you and Jo swapped seats and Jo confidently managed to park.
"That's the neatest parking job you've ever done-"
"Anything's neat compared to your clunky beginners driving, Braces." Jo deadpanned as the two of you got out of the car and headed towards the hospital entrance.
"Well I didn't crash it-"
"We were going in circles in an empty car park." Jo replied, smiling as you pouted at her.
"Fine, you weren't too bad for a beginner." Jo replied, hip-bumping you as the two of you went back to work, having just spend a chunk of your pre-rounds driving around the empty car park.
///
"Hey, S/n, I'm looking for a roommate and I was wondering if you would be interested-" Arizona began, catching you as you were chewing on a mouthful of apple.
"I'm rather attached to where I am now." You admitted, leaving Arizona to quirk a brow.
"Even the showerhead held together by duct tape?"
"A) It was Jo's idea to use duct tape, she tapped it back together, and B) I got a new showerhead installed..." You brushed off, taking another bite of your apple as Arizona nodded.
"Hey, with Wilson moving out with Karev and carpooling with Meredith, I was thinking I'd carpool with you and hopefully whoever becomes my roommate, maybe April too." Arizona suggested, waiting as you thought it over.
"That would be more reliable, since Jo's in another neighbourhood entirely and she said that she might carpool with Doctor Karev, Doctor Grey, Doctor Shepherd and Doctor Pierce." You replied, pausing as Arizona chuckled.
"You sounded so formal then, it was almost adorable-" Arizona began to tease you, leaving you to huff and eat another mouthful of apple with a frown on your face and a pout on your lips.
///
"S/n, there's a patient I think you should meet, her name's Jessica." Callie approached you as you were walking past the treatment rooms.
"Sure, is she in pre-op or-?"
"I need you to stay with her while I make some calls to get her out of the conversion camp her parents are sending her to." Callie stated, watching as your face fell into shock and disgust.
"Are you okay with doing that?" Callie double-checked, raising an eyebrow as you cleared your throat.
"As long as those parents aren't near me, I'll sit with her." You affirmed, smiling softly as Callie led you into Jessica's room and introduced you to her.
///
You were sat with Jessica when you heard shouting from down the corridor.
"That sounds like my mom." Jessica admitted, leaving you to freeze.
"I'm going to go check everything is okay, you're going to be okay, there's nothing wrong with you or who you love, okay?" You stated, watching as Jessica nodded and you slipped out of the room in time to see Maggie being harrassed and then, her punching Jessica's mother in the face.
///
"My fist had a mind of it's own, because I didn't even know I was going to punch her until she was punched- what- S/n, as much as this is a nice hug, why are you hugging me?"
"You punched a homophobe."
"Oh my god! I lost control, I am a monster! I don't deserve to be hugged right now!" Maggie declared, leaving you to roll your eyes and let go of Maggie as she'd stopped hugging you back.
"I would have paid money. Cash money. Like a thousand bucks." Doctor Shepherd added, leaving Callie to contribute.
"Worth every penny, it was beautiful."
"What happened?" Doctor Grey asked as she walked in with her lunch.
"Yeah, we want details. Can someone page me, please, next time Pierce hulks out?" Doctor Shepherd requested, leaving you to chuckle into your hand until Doctor Grey deadpanned that it won't be funny when Maggie loses her job.
"You know what, Grey has a point. Next time, leave the thumb outside the fist when you clench. That way you avoid bone damage, see?" Callie explained, gesturing for you to pay attention as she was sorting out Maggie's hand.
"Is it true? Callie punched a homophobe?" Arizona asked as she ran in with a grin on her face.
"Pierce punched a homophobe." Doctor Shepherd corrected her, smirking as Maggie grimaced.
"Ooh, unexpected, high five!" You laughed as you reached over, high-fiving Arizona after everyone else.
"I have to go apologise to that horrible woman, don't I?" Maggie realised as everyone solemnly nodded.
///
"I don't care about if she's gay! I care if she's loved. I care if she's happy! And that is what you should care about! What is wrong with you that you don't?"
Smiles crossed yours and Callie's faces as Jess smiled, having heard what her father was saying and seen him smiling in relief that his daughter was okay.
"Are you okay?" Callie mouthed as she heard you sniffling.
"I'm fine, I'm just going to- yeah." You murmured, gesturing away as you began to walk away.
"Doctor S/n?"
Turning your head, you spotted Hannah looking at you in concern.
"Lilac. Can I help you with something?" Your voice crackled as tears soaked your eyelashes, trying to stop them from dripping down your cheeks to no success.
Hannah didn't speak as she gestured for you to follow her into the bathrooms, passing you some tissue for your eyes.
"Homophobic mother, caring father, daughter who just wants to love who she wants to love. Wow, apparently I'm crying over patients now." You chuckled, a sob leaving your lips as Hannah tried to console you.
///
"Do you want something to eat? There's leftover pasta, vegetable soup... yeah, it's pasta or soup..." You declared as you glanced through the fridge, ignoring Hannah's gaze on the back of your head.
"Do you want to talk about today?" Hannah enquired as you discovered that there was salad behind the soup in the fridge.
"I don't have parents. Or any actual family, really. Apparently I had relatives in Chicago, but when I was an orphan at 10 years old, they managed to lawyer their way out of taking me in. So, to see that father fight for his daughter? It's powerful." You explained, sighing as another tear ran down your face, whilst Hannah's hand squeezed your shoulder gently.
///
You were walking down the corridor when you spotted him staring at Jo.
"Parsley, don't you have other things to do than stare at the residents?" You asked, folding your arms as Cross jumped.
"I was just-"
"Staring at the residents. Yeah. I have eyes, Cross. How about you stare at some monitors instead? Patient room 2232, go."
"Uh, Doctor S/n, I was wondering if you'd like to uh, get coffee-" You raised an eyebrow at Cross' question, glancing from how Jo was walking over to Cross' expression.
"Yeah, no. Sorry, Parsley, I'm kind of, extremely gay. And, she's taken, so how about you move along and head to that patient room, please?" You gestured to Jo who leaned on your shoulder, raising an eyebrow at Cross as he apologised several times before heading off to the patient room you'd sent him to.
"Did he just try to ask you out?" Jo whispered, leaving you to turn to meet her gaze as she continued to lean on your shoulder.
"Yeah, after I caught him ogling you." You deadpanned, your nose crinkling up as Jo's face broke into a frown before the two of you began to laugh.
///
"I need to talk to you both." Jo stated, pulling you and Steph into the toilets to talk.
"You need to talk to him." Steph concluded whilst you blinked several times, a blank look on your face.
"Braces?"
"I'm so confused." You admitted, running your hands down your face as Jo sighed.
"Me too," she admitted in response, "me too."
///
Eyes locked on the tv, Teen Titans playing as you held a bowl of pasta in your hand, free hand holding the fork as you ate.
The buzzing of your phone caught your attention, specifically the buzzing of Jo's special ringtone.
Joey: red
Braces: omw
///
You were lucky that you were able to get to Jo and Alex's place without getting lost more than once.
Jo let you in, you could feel her eyes on you as you glanced around the loft space that she and Alex had put together. Uncertainty bubbled your stomach as you turned to Jo.
"I spoke to Alex. He said it was a long time ago but he could have babies with his face on running around somewhere..." Jo sighed, noticing how you weren't saying anything. A frown crossed her features before you walked forwards, hovering for a minute before she realised you were offering her a hug.
///
You were lying on the end of the bed as Jo worked on her notes. It was only when Alex walked in that you began to move.
"Right, well, I am going to meet... someone. Sort your shit out, please." You begged, leaving Jo to roll her eyes whilst you left, stealing an apple from their fruit bowl on the way out.
"Hey, Hannah. I'm on my way, do you want to me to bring anything? coffee?" You answered your phone as you left Jo and Alex's building and headed down the street.
///
"I worked with Lilac today. She seemed like a capable intern-" Jo began, leaving you to grimace.
"I thought she was working with Steph, but yeah, she is." You explained before noticing how Jo was in thought.
"Did Steph ever mention anything to you about a clinical trial for sickle cell anemia when she was five?" Jo asked, frowning more as you hurried away, sprinting down the corridors.
"Braces!" Jo called after you but you were looking for someone else.
"S/n, can we help you?" Doctor Shepherd asked as she and Steph turned towards you.
"She's, she's telling the truth-" You panted, walking towards Steph as she reached out to you.
"S/n-"
"Braces!"
"Joey, let's be real, we aren't the only two in this hospital with some sort of unspoken backstory. This place used to be nicknamed Seattle Grace West Mercy Death for goodness sake!" You exclaimed, watching as Jo's face fell.
"Steph-"
"I only tell people I can trust." Steph stated, making eye contact with you before she walked out, leaving you to take an exhausted breath.
///
"How can we have a dinner party with no dinner? Can anyone here actually cook?" Meredith asked as she worked on making Jo's margarita.
"Oh, Braces can, but I think she's at the hospital helping an ortho case at the hospital-"
"Call S/n, or we order pizza, because I have no idea what to do with any of this!" Amelia admitted, gesturing to all the ingredients on the countertop.
"I can do it!" April volunteered, leaving Jo to pause as she realised you'd actually picked up the phone.
"Do you think you could bring cheese or should I call Cross? I'll just call Cross-" Jo rambled, about to hang up when your voice came down the line.
"Joey, do not call the intern who keeps ogling you, I'll bring the damn cheese, just tell me which type?"
///
"Why are you taking the trash out? I brought cheeses, enough for a damn cheeseboard, never really had a cheeseboard, who has cheeseboards these days?" You rambled as Jo opened the door, dragging the trash out behind her.
"Don't ask, I think Kepner will want the cheeses in the kitchen." Jo explained, leaving you to walk through the house to find the kitchen.
"S/n? Oh you brought the cheese." April smiled as you passed her them, feeling awkward as you stood in your scrubs with Jo's Harvard hoodie over them in the middle of a fancy dinner party.
"Y/n! Yay, you're here!" A drunk Arizona cheered, leaving you to stare in shock as she hugged you.
///
"Perfect Penny killed my husband."
Meredith's words had you wanting to reach for the glass in front of you, but instead, you looked at Jo, focussing on her and Steph as the drama began to occur.
The rest of the dinner party was a blur as you were sat with Steph and Jo, all three of you quietly agreeing that Alex was being a jerk.
"Y/n, do you want a ride?" Steph asked, having just had another fight with Jo whilst you sat zoning out.
"It's okay, I have someone picking me up, thanks though Steph. It was nice to see you outside a hospital setting." You smiled, leaving Steph to let out a slight laugh.
"You too, Y/n. Although, you're still dressed for a hospital setting." Steph pointed out, leaving you to groan as Jo took your glass and downed it.
///
"Hey..." You smiled as Hannah pulled up down the street, hopping into her car as she smiled at you.
"How was the dinner party?"
"It was dramatic and everyone was fighting and I just wanted to leave, honestly." You admitted, leaving Hannah to just nod.
"Well, there's a late night viewing of that movie we were looking at seeing?" Hannah suggested, leaving you to smile.
"You're amazing." You stated, kissing her cheek before the two of you began to head to the cinema.
///
You were sat in the residents lounge, pulling your lab coat on when Penny Blake walked in. Jo was going through her locker whilst Steph continued to pull her lab coat on.
"Hi. Can you guys tell me how to find out what service I'm on? I mean, which attending?"
Jo was about to open her mouth but you sighed.
"Your emails should say." You explained as Jo and Steph walked out, your response having stopped them from bickering.
"Thank you." Penny said to an empty room as you walked out with a grumble on your lips.
"Cardio better be away from everyone or I am going to scream."

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 17 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
Interns are like catnip.
That's what Shane had said, back when you were interns.
Now Heather was dead, Leah had gone onto another surgical program and Shane was in Zurich. You, Jo and Steph were residents getting your own interns apparently.
Nobody knew you'd already had the catnip, not even yourself.
Until the group of interns walked up to you and you almost dropped your phone in shock as you spotted one of the interns heading over to Jo.
Your one night stand from the previous night was an intern.
"All right, I have three rules. One, listen to the nurses. Respect the nurses, do whatever the nurses say. You may think you know more than the nurses. You do not. Two, your life is now all about me, not about you, or your boyfriend, your fight with your sister or your nasty little rash down there. So, when we are focussed on me, we are learning to be surgical gods. When we are focussed on you, we're working at a gas station-"
"Okay, Steph, we get the point-" Jo began but you just shook your head for Jo to not bother.
"Three, no complaining. You complain and you are out, got it?" Steph finished, leaving you and Jo to chuckle until you met her eyes again.
"My turn! I have five rules. Memorise them. One, don't bother sucking up, I don't care. Trauma protocol, phone list, pagers. Two, Nurses will page you, you answer them at a run and nothing less than a run. Your shift starts now and lasts 48 hours. Interns are at the bottom of the surgical food chain, run labs, write orders, work every second night until you drop, and like Doctor Edwards said, no complaining." You smiled at Steph who just rolled her eyes playfully at you.
"Third rule, if I'm sleeping or eating, don't bother me unless the patient is dying or it's some bad results. Also, the patient better not be dead when I get there. Otherwise you would have killed a patient, and bothered me for no reason. Got that?" You asked, folding your arms whilst Jo wondered how long you had memorised those rules for.
You paused as your one night stand intern raised her hand.
"Yes... Hannah- Doctor Brody." You corrected yourself but it didn't go unnoticed by Jo, whose jaw dropped for a moment.
"You said five rules, that was four." She pointed out, watching you smirk.
"See, someone was listening. Rule five..." You paused, grinning as you were paged. "When I move, you move. Let's go, ducklings!" You announced, starting to run down the corridor before you realised the interns weren't following. "I said let's go, ducklings! Vamos!"
///
"S/n's taken to having interns like a duck taking to water." Arizona chuckled, spotting you running with your flock of interns behind her.
"She does indeed looks like a mother duck." Webber added in, leaving Meredith to laugh.
///
"Okay, for ease and I don't have time right now to remember your names, you're being called by colours. So, Parsley, Sky, Lilac, Crimson and... Lemon, because you're standing there like a lemon-" You stated, gesturing between the interns as Steph laughed.
"Any idea what happened?" You asked as Jo and Karev walked back in from the ambulance bay.
"All the ambulances are hearses, patients are all DOA." Karev stated, heading away from the ER.
///
"North entrance of the tunnel on 99 collapsed. We've got rigs coming in with live patients." Jo explained, leaving you to pull your interns back to prep them.
"Hey, are you going to tell me why you're so awkward around Lilac?" Jo whispered, leaving you to grimace.
"I slept with her last night. I didn't know she was going to be an intern working here-" You explained quietly as Jo's face fell into shock.
"Oh, my, god."
///
"We should get ortho to take a look at her arm and neck." Andrew DeLuca stated, leaving Steph to pause as her interns began to fall over each other.
"S/n! I know you're Torres' ortho goddess in training, can you look at this patient's arm and neck?" Steph asked, having told the interns to scram to radiology.
"Yeah, Parsley, radiology is upstairs, stay out of everyone's way and wait for the results, okay?" You stated as the interns started waddling around.
"S/n, nice job in reducing the wrist-" Torres began, but you shook your head.
"DeLuca did that in the field." You explained before your pager went off.
"Steph, I'm going to go find those interns, because they're probably lost." You explained, hurrying out as Steph nodded, pulling up the films of the patient's c-spine.
///
"Cross, you're Parsley, also, don't eat food and carry lab samples, that's gross, there's patients in the ER with concrete having fallen on them and you're eating?" You asked as Bailey asked where Cross had gotten the brie.
"Brody, Lilac, I need to talk to you." You stated as you caught up to Hannah.
"Is this about..." Hannah trailed off as you glanced around nervously.
"The walls have ears."
///
"S/n, help me stabilise her spine!" Steph shouted, leaving you to run over.
"What the- okay, teaching lesson of the day, never remove a c-collar if the patient doesn't have a stabilised spine!" You exclaimed as you and Steph got to work.
"How the hell did she dislocate?" Callie asked as you and Steph were decompressing the woman's spine.
"Interns, go... now!" You exclaimed as Steph told them to get out, "Parsley, Doctor Shepherd is on her way back, bring her here, we're in trauma two." You stated, leaving Cross to nod before heading out.
///
"Hey, Braces, what do you say about going out on one of those programs that Doctor Kepner went on?" Jo approached you, leaving you to glance at Karev as you spotted him behind her.
"Karev not wanting to go with you?" You asked, raising an eyebrow as Jo's face fell.
"And you don't want to either." She finished your sentence for you, making you sigh.
"Joey, I'm actually kind of enjoying teaching these interns, even if they do stupid and dangerous things like removing a c-collar from a labouring woman with an unstable spine. If you want to do that, then we could look at going, but I don't want to go in two weeks, I want to finish my residency first, because who knows, we could be anywhere doing our fellowships, you could be in Boston and I could be in New York or San Diego-"
"I thought we'd look at fellowships together." Jo stated, leaving you to flinch.
"I was looking at an ortho fellowship here, but I'm worried the budget won't be enough to keep either of us here at Grey Sloan." You admitted, leaving Jo to freeze.
"Crap." She stated, leaving you to nod.
"Indeed, crap."
///
"I'm moving back in with you until I can sort out Alex and me. Meredith is moving into his place with the three kids and I don't want to-"
"Karev won't fit and I am not leaving my side of the bed." You stated, watching Jo raise an eyebrow.
"Oh, no, I'm going to find a place for me and Alex. I'm just moving back in until I can sort it all out." Jo stated before she hurried away, not seeing how your face fell.
"Doctor S/n, are you okay?"
You froze as Hannah walked over, looking concerned before you felt the tear running down your face.
"You know, you're technically one of Joey's interns, Joey is Doctor Wilson, she's basically my sister, if you needed her, she's just gone that-"
"No, I came over because you looked upset and I thought you could use a friend?" Hannah offered, leaving you to smile.
"Thanks-"
"S/n and you, intern, they need us to help with getting the patient outside into the ER. You two can hold these doors open." Doctor Avery instructed, leaving you to nod as you leaned against one of the doors and Hannah had the other.
"Sorry, Lilac. That friend talk can be later, we need to make sure this patient doesn't die." You gave her a forced smile, leaving Hannah to just nod in understanding.
///
You smiled softly as Bailey told Steph off for letting the interns drown.
"Raise your ducklings. S/n, get in here and answer the interns questions too!" Bailey stated, leaving you to nod as you sat on the other side of Steph.
"Doctor S/n, is it possible for..."
///
"Hey, Braces, I found a place for me and Alex to live. So you don't need to worry about me moving back in." Jo explained after shift, she'd approached you as you were packing up to head back.
"Joey. Stop saying things if you're not going to follow through. By the way, if you're moving out, I think I need to learn how to drive. I can't keep relying on you or the buses around here. How did you even find a place?" You asked, leaving Jo to pause.
"I'll teach you. I put all of my money and savings into it, but it's only if Alex will pitch in too. It'll need fixing up but I think it's going to be amazing. I need to go tell Alex about it, I'll see you later, okay?" Jo replied, hugging you before pulling away to see if you were okay.
Your nod was brief and you could see Jo frowning, but you were back to grabbing your stuff and tugging Jo's Harvard hoodie over your head.
///
"Doctor S/n, do you want a ride? The bus won't be here for another twenty minutes." You glanced up at Hannah in her car, deciding for a moment before you hurried over to the passenger seat.
"Do you want to come inside? I know it's not really appropriate but I don't want to sleep with you, I just don't want to be in my apartment alone." You asked, grimacing as you remembered the non-fraternisation rule that everyone was slowly forgetting.
///
Jo raised an eyebrow as she walked inside, spotting you watching Ant-Man whilst Hannah was asleep on the other end of the couch. Meeting Jo's gaze, you brought a handful of popcorn up to your mouth, chewing it slowly before going back to watching Ant-Man. Quickly gesturing to the sleeping intern on your couch, Jo closed her mouth, walking over to the couch and shoving you over gently so she could sit on the other side of you. A small smile broke over your face as Jo took a handful of popcorn and began to watch Ant-Man too.

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 16 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
Doctor Grey and her children hadn't been seen since a little after the funeral of Derek Shepherd.
It was getting closer to Easter with no sign of Doctor Grey besides a note saying she and her children were fine.
Jo was working with Doctor Avery in the burn unit whilst you were working in peds with Arizona.
///
By memorial day, during the end of May, there was still no sign of Doctor Grey. You were working with Doctor Torres on a police officer who required a leg amputation and may be fitted with bionic prosthetsis.
"Hey, how's everyone doing in here?" You asked, sticking your head in as Jo looked up to smile at you.
"We have Snow White, so you can be Doc." JJ smiled, leaving you to raise an eyebrow as Jo gave you a look to not ask but a smile on her face otherwise.
///
July 4th had you and Jo celebrating by eating red, white and blue doughnuts in between checking on patients.
///
By Halloween, you and Jo were on the peds floor, hanging out sweets to the children who were in the hospital over the Halloween period.
///
Thanksgiving had you on shift but Jo was at Karev's.
She had seen your message about putting the turkey in as early as possible, but that plan went out the window. You arrived after finishing shift in the evening to a pile of burger wrappers on the counter.
"I take it you didn't put the turkey in early enough? Or on a high enough temperature-" You walked over to the oven, not seeing how Jo's jaw dropped.
"How do you know how to-"
"Uh, I spent a thanksgiving at my first girlfriend's when I was 16/17, they let me help out with the food." You stated, fixing the oven and setting a timer.
"Well, that turkey is going to be done tomorrow at the rate it's being hanging out in the oven, but do you want turkey tomorrow?" You asked, glancing at Alex, Maggie and Jo as they began to realise they were going to get turkey.
///
Christmas Eve had you listening to Anne and JJ singing christmas songs in the burn unit as Jo worked on making sure that Anne wasn't in pain. A smile broke across your face as you heard Jo and Anne joining in with JJ singing, giving you the encouragement to sleep in the door, hugging Jo from behind as you began to sing too.
JJ and Anne smiled as Jo grinned at your hug, the four of you singing loud enough it was heard down the corridor.
///
New Years Day had both you and Jo trying to cover up your tears. JJ had passed away in her sleep, leaving Anne to cry alone as you and Jo tried to comfort her.
It was only when a new patient was occupying JJ's old room that you realised how big of an impact that JJ had on Anne. Jo was debriding Laura's burns as Anne told her it was going to be okay, leaving you to give her a soft smile as you stood next to her bed.
///
Valentine's Day.
You hated Valentine's Day.
All for one simple reason.
Danielle.
You were sat on the coffee table whilst Jo and Arizona were sat on the couch, all three of you had beers but none of you had drunk enough to be past tipsy.
"I thought about it." Jo began, leaving Arizona to raise an eyebrow whilst you frowned.
"Thought about what?" You murmured, shifting so you could rest your chin on your palm.
"Experimenting. Kissing a girl." Jo explained, pausing as she looked for your reaction.
"Wh- why are you staring at me? Did you consider me or something?" You asked, watching as Jo motioned to zipping her lips.
"Ew." You shivered, leaving Jo to chuckle.
"I know right? How did you figure out you were gay, anyway? Because I doubt me backing you into a wall and you whining like a puppy was how you figured it out-"
"Wow, Wilson, you really have no filter." Arizona began, interrupting Jo but you had already sat up with a serious expression.
"Her name was Danielle. We met when we were 16. I was at a foster home in Kansas. She taught me how to swim. She's the whole reason I was a lifeguard in my gap year." You explained, glancing down at the beer bottle before placing it on the table.
"Danielle helped you to figure it out?" Arizona prompted, leaving you to sigh, leaning back to look at the ceiling.
"I called her Dani. She called me Flower. We met when her cheerleading practice ran over, I was lying on the grass and she found me next to the flowers in the grass. We dated until... you know, when I imagined her coming down the aisle, I didn't imagine her in a casket." You explained further, leaving Jo's jaw to drop as Arizona spluttered on her beer.
"Wait, did you see her-"
"Everyone saw. It was a really hot September but they wouldn't cancel the stupid sports match. So the cheerleaders were out in the heat. I was sat in the bleachers when I saw Dani launched up, but when she came down and landed on the grass, she was gone."
You took a moment to breathe, swiping at your cheeks but no tears had left your flooded eyes yet.
"I was moved to another foster home after that, but I aged out at 18... that's when we met, Joey." You pointed out, leaving Jo to put the pieces together.
"That's why you were in a really dark place when we met, your first love and girlfriend died." Jo realised, leaving Arizona to give her a look as you stood up and walked over to the couch.
"The last thing she said to me was 'I'll see you later, I promise'. My parents said they'd come back for me, they promised too. Why does everyone make promises then leave anyway?" You asked, carefully sitting in between Jo and Arizona on the couch.
"Uh..." Arizona began, but you just sighed.
"If either of you are going to leave, please tell me, and don't throw me broken promises, I can't handle constantly losing everyone." You requested, leaving Jo to begin to open her mouth but you were asleep with your head on her shoulder and your feet in Arizona's lap.
///
"Braces! Braces, wait up!" Jo shouted, over voice barely heard over the cover of Chasing Cars you were listening to before getting ready for rounds.
"Joey?" You pulled your lab coat on, turning off the MP3 player as Jo grabbed your hand and pulled you along.
"Doctor Grey is back!" Jo declared, pulling you into the gallery where Doctor Grey and Doctor Bailey were operating.
"Is that a new scrub cap- oh my god." You realised, leaving Jo to look at the scrub cap in question. The ferry-boat scrub cap.

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 15 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
One of the reasons you liked Seattle.
It didn't have earthquakes.
Or you thought it didn't, until you were sat watching one of Doctor Grey's surgery with Jo.
"So, apparently Grey starts morning pre-rounds in the middle of the night now." Steph commented as she walked in, sitting on the other side of Jo as you passed her your coffee cup. "I've been here for hours..." Steph complained before Jo shushed her.
"What are we looking at?" Steph enquired, watching the surgery as Jo passed Steph her notes.
"I don't know, I'll know when I see it." Jo stated, watching the surgery intently as you shifted in your seat to get a better look.
"What am I looking at?"
"Joey's notes on all of Grey's surgeries since November. At first, we thought it was just a fluke, but..." You explained as Steph realised.
"Oh my god, is this right? She hasn't lost a single patient, not one bad apple, since November?" Steph asked, leaving Jo to smile.
"She's on a streak."
"It's time for rounds, let's go." Karev announced, pausing as Steph told him about the streak.
You were sat with Jo stilll, staring at the surgery when everything started shaking.
"What the hell is happening?" You yelped, gasping as the picture on the wall behind you all fell and smashed.
"I thought Seattle didn't have earthquakes!" You turned to face Jo, giving her a panicked look after everything began to calm down again.
///
"Incoming traumas, Wilson with Karev, Edwards with Kepner, S/n with Pierce."
///
"I was paged about a hip."
"Jean Dominy, 75, angioplasty patient, discharged last week. Complains of shortness of breath after a fall." You explained as Doctor Pierce gestured for you to explain to Doctor Torres.
"I fell out of bed, dear, onto my hip, I'm pretty sure I busted the damn thing, I had it replaced 15 years ago." Ms Dominy explained, leaving you to glance at Doctor Torres who asked if she had been thrown off balance during the earthquake.
Callie withheld a laugh as she noticed how uncomfortable you looked as the patient began to talk about a book of sex positions.
"You can fix it, right?"
"I'll tell you what, we'll go and get you some films, and we'll continue from there." Doctor Torres stated, her hand on Ms Dominy's shoulder before the three of you walked away.
"What is it, S/n, don't want to talk about sex positions?" Callie teased, leaving you to grimace.
///
"So, the good news is, your EKG and chest films came back clear." Doctor Pierce explained to Ms Dominy.
"Well you have what is called, a below the stem femur fracture. Now, you have two cracks in the bone, one here, and here." Doctor Torres explained, gesturing to the x-rays taken of Ms Dominy's leg.
"So, uh, how do we get me back in the saddle?"
///
"Okay, let's take a look." Doctor Torres gestured as Doctor Boyd loaded up the x-rays.
"Yikes, that hip took a hell of a pounding." Doctor Boyd commented, leaving you to snort as Doctor Torres barely withheld a laugh.
"Oh, Ethan, you have no idea." She joked, asking for a zoom in on the right femoral prosthesis.
You shifted slightly as Doctor Boyd and Doctor Pierce had a flirtatious encounter, leaving you to murmur something about vending machines before hurrying after Callie, leaving the two to it.
"You saw it too?"
"Saw it? They're clearly flirting." You retorted, leaving Callie to laugh at your sass.
///
"Alright, plate's in position, I'll be placing the screws next, unless you want to let S/n scrub in and do them with me?" Doctor Torres asked, leaving Doctor Pierce to check the vitals.
"Pressure's good, S/n, scrub in." Doctor Pierce stated, allowing you to go scrub in.
"Will you stop it!" Doctor Pierce exclaimed as you walked in, leaving you to freeze.
"Not you, S/n, you're fine, get over here and come to the rest of these pins." Doctor Torres stated as she spotted you stop.
"S/n, after this, can you monitor her post-op?" Doctor Pierce requested, leaving you to nod as the surgery was over and the patient was moved from the OR.
///
"Hey, Braces, wait up!" Jo called out, spotting you exit Ms Dominy's patient room.
"What's up, Joey?" You tilted your head to the side as Jo shoved a piece of paper into your hand.
"So, there was a girl who came in with her friend who kept eyeing you and asked me for your number, but I got hers instead to give to you, so here." Jo stated, leaving you to pause as you opened the piece of paper.
"You're trying to set me up with people now?" You deadpanned, leaving Jo to shove you in the shoulder lightly.
"At least it's outside of your usual circle of bars-"
"I do not have a usual circle of bars, Joey." You interjected, leaving Jo to roll her eyes.
"Sure, sure you don't." She teased, pausing to wipe a piece of something from your eyebrow before hurrying off.
/// A few shifts later ///
"What, what is that?" Steph exclaimed, spotting the pot that Jo had put near her head.
"Hey, Braces! Come look, I pulled it out of a lady's nose! This sucker had me working on one single case, all day!" Jo explained, holding the glass pot up to reveal the leach inside.
"All day? So you just logged, six, seven hours of trauma, without even trying? All because of a stupid leach, up someone's stupid nose?" Steph retorted, leaving you to grimace.
"I think I'm gonna name him Herbie." Jo grinned, leaving your face to fall.
"No, no, Herbie is staying at Karev's, or I'll let Steph put it up your nose in your sleep, ew, ew, I am not sleeping with you if you bring Herbie into our apartment!" You exclaimed as Steph stormed off, taking her lab coat with a tug.
Your face fell into disgust as Jo grinned at the leach in the pot.
/// A few more shifts later ///
"Hey, Braces, did you hear about Steph chasing after a woman who cut off a patient's newly re-attached penis?" Jo asked as you walked into the residents lounge, sipping your water as you went.
"What?" You spluttered, almost choking on your water as you processed what Jo had said.
"The patient had their penis cut off twice in one day?" You deadpanned, leaving Steph to sigh whilst Jo slipped out to find Alex.
"What fellowships are you considering?" Steph enquired, leaving you to pause in thought.
"Ortho, but I'm considering cardio. Torres and Pierce think I'm decent at the specialities, so..."
"What about trauma?" Steph asked, watching as you grimaced.
"Hunt hates me but I love Seattle, I guess I have to consider fellowships all over... I'm not ready to be without Joey though." You admitted, watching Steph pause in thought.
"She's happy with Karev, though."
"Yeah, she has her happy ending with Karev, and that happy ending doesn't necessarily include me." You sighed, pausing as Steph had a look on her face.
"What's-"
You need to find your happy ending, Y/n, and seize it. Even if it doesn't have Jo in it." Steph encouraged you, watching as you let out a breath and nodded.
///
"S/n, S/n, I need to talk to you." You raised an eyebrow as Doctor Pierce approached you, gesturing for you to follow her into an empty trauma room.
Your eyes widened as you got a glance of Steph crying and Jo talking to Alex.
"Doctor Shepherd, Derek Shepherd, he's dead." Doctor Pierce began, leaving you to tense.
"What? How? Is Doctor Grey... no, she's not going to be okay, her husband's dead and Doctor Shepherd lost her brother-"
"S/n... Y/n, breathe, you're hyperventilating, breathe with me, okay?..."

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 14 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
"You need to get your shower fixed!" Arizona shouted at Alex, leaving you to raise an eyebrow as you appeared with the bread, about to throw it in his face.
"I put it in the freezer, fridge was making it stale and it was going to go mouldly on the counter." You stated, leaving Alex to pause as you dumped the loaf of frozen bread on him.
"What am I supposed to do with this?"
"Toast it!" You shouted as you hurried to grab your backpack for rounds.
///
"Sorry I'm late, sorry I'm late!" Arizona apologised, sitting next to Amelia.
"Um, Wilson just barged in and stole my shower. Edwards, does she always walk around naked?" Arizona turned to Steph.
"Uh, not around the hospital, generally, but you might need... hang on, Y/n!" Steph called you over, spotting you walking by.
"What's up, Steph?" You asked, leaning in the doorway.
"Does Jo walk around naked when she's at home with you?"
"Uhh, she's jumped in the shower with me before?" You replied, leaving Arizona's jaw to drop.
"Are you sure you two aren't-"
"No, we aren't dating." You deadpanned, rolling your eyes at Doctor Shepherd's amused face.
"It's like residents gone wild, especially with you two." Arizona retorted, leaving you to roll your eyes.
"You live with residents, Robbins?" Doctor Herman asked, making everyone jump as Arizona realised the intercom was still on.
"Did Wilson just climb in the shower with you-" Doctor Herman began, leaving Arizona to stutter.
"Yeah, no, instead of me." Arizona explained, leaving you to laugh into Steph's shoulder.
"Was she coming onto you?" Doctor Herman enquired, leaving you to snort.
"Contrary to popular belief, Joey is straight-"
"Oh please, there's nothing straight about the two of you together-"
"Residents gone wild!" Doctor Herman laughed, interrupting Steph, leaving Doctor Shepherd to kick you and Arizona out of the room.
///
You were walking to deliver some tests to the labs when you heard Karev.
"And Robbins can get handsy with the residents. Last year with Murphy, then you've got that weird thing with S/n, but HR got involved and now there's policies in place-"
"What weird thing with me?" You asked, pausing as Jo walked over, hugging you from behind.
"What weird thing with Braces?" Jo asked, amusing Doctor Herman as you tilted your head to the side at Arizona's stuttering.
"You and Doctor Robbins-"
"I don't date my co-workers." You finalised, shutting down the topic.
"Hey, you need to start putting on pants around the house, 'cause Robbins keeps checking out your ass." Karev stated, turning to Jo who raised an eyebrow.
"No, no, Alex- you don't need to put pants on, your ass is fine-"
"I'm going to go deliver these labs before HR gets involved." You interrupted, leaving Arizona to gawp at you as you grinned.
"I hate you all. I have surgery!" Doctor Robbins declared as you began to walk away.
///
You'd spent weeks of your third year of residency working between specialities, whilst Steph worked with Doctor Shepherd on neuro and Jo lingered around ortho and other specialties as well.
Arizona was working with Doctor Herman a lot to get the 4 months worth of surgeries down into eight weeks, meaning every time you were in peds, you were working with Karev. However, you'd spent a large cluster of your time in between the ER, cardio, peds and ortho.
"Braces, it's time!" Jo shouted, gaining your attention from where you had been staring at the vending machine.
"Shepherd's tumour?" You asked, pausing as Hunt called over the two of you.
"I need the two of you to hold down the fort here, okay?" Hunt stated, leaving you to let out a breath and Jo to thank Hunt.
"So..." You began before spotting the incoming trauma included a leg in a splint.
"Mine!" You exclaimed, hurrying over as Jo laughed in amusement due to your antics.
///
"We did it." Jo grinned, offering you a high-five as the ER began to get quiet.
"Damn right we did." You grinned back, high-fiving Jo in return.

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 13 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
"Hey... look," Steph began as she sat down, glancing up to see you munching on your apple as Jo glared over at Meredith and Alex.
"No. Look at that. He doesn't even eat with me anymore." Jo complained, leaving you to roll your eyes.
"Wow, I feel so appreciated right now. What's up, Steph?" You asked as Steph passed over her tablet to the two of you.
"So I did an ultrasound on April Kepner today."
"Okay, that's weirder, way weirder..." Jo gasped, leaving you to raise an eyebrow, "it could have been your baby-" Jo was cut off as you pinched her in the ribs, giving her a 'wtf' look.
"Jo, don't talk. Y/n, I need you to look too, I'm really bad at these, and I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure something is wrong with Jackson and April's baby." Steph explained, leaving you to lean closer into Jo to get a closer look at the ultrasounds.
"Don't you have your solo surgery after this, Y/n?" Steph asked as you and Jo stared at the screen.
"Yeah, but it's not for at least another half hour." You explained, leaving Jo to glance at her watch.
///
"S/n, are you ready?" Bailey asked, leaving you to pause as you were scrubbing in.
"As ready as I can be." You stated, leaving Bailey to smirk as you walked into the OR for your solo surgery.
///
You raised an eyebrow as you were exiting the hospital, clad in your Yale hoodie, headphones in and ready to catch a bus since Jo had warned you beforehand that she was going to Alex's.
You didn't expect to see them making out in front of you though.
A smirk covered your face as you crept up to them, letting out dog barks that startled Jo enough that she jumped back from Alex.
"Braces! What the hell!" Jo shouted but you were already running away, laughing.
"You two are really alike, it's creepy." Alex admitted, leaving Jo to gasp.
"That's my best friend you're talking about." She grinned, leaving Alex to chuckle.
"I know, you two have been attached at the hip since you first walked in as interns. It's no wonder Torres and Robbins thought you two were together." Alex replied, leaving Jo to pause.
"That explains why they glared at me that one lunch time, they even thought I was cheating on her with you, and that I was using her for experimenting." Jo explained, leaving Alex to raise an eyebrow, his arms wrapping around Jo's waist.
"The hospital rumour mill would have a field day with that."
///
"S/n, shoulder dislocation in bed four, an arm needs splinting in bed six, and a broken nose in bed two." Doctor Torres instructed, passing you the tablet as she went to go talk to Doctor Kepner in another room.
"Okay..." You mumbled, heading over to bed four.
///
"S/n, you're with me today." Doctor Pierce stated, leaving you to glance up from the charts you'd been looking at.
"Of course, Doctor Pierce-"
"Doctor Grey is paging 911 for cardio, let's move!" Doctor Pierce announced, leading the two of you to sprint to the OR where Doctors Grey and Bailey were stood with a patient whilst Jo stood next to Doctor Grey.
"You paged?"
///
"Braces, come on, Doctor Shepherd is doing a presentation on how she's handling a massive tumour!" Jo called you over, leaving you to glance at Doctor Pierce.
"I'll page you if I need you, S/n."
"And then... and this sounds crazy, I know, so don't even... I'll build in a distribution of a radioactive seed during surgery, keeping Doctor Herman's tumour bed free of recurring cells." Doctor Shepherd gestured to the screen as Steph frowned.
"I thought you were going to use a laser-"
"I think she's a whole toolkit kind of tumour." You added as Doctor Shepherd explained.
"I am, I already did. We're way past that."
"Try and keep up. I'm sorry Shepherd, but this is a great opportunity for them to learn." Doctor Webber explained, glancing around as Jo checked her past notes and you were twirling your pen between your fingers.
"The laser is for ablating cells off the optic nerve-"
"It's a massive butterfly glioma?" Jo asked, leaving you to pause to pay attention to Doctor Shepherd again.
"Well, it's not just massive. I mean, it's magnificiant."
"No, no, I mean that, won't a laser take months?" Jo asked in confusion.
"Again, uh, before that, I'll be using the ultrasonic aspirator to mush and flush the cells, then the sexy laser, and... yeah?" Doctor Shepherd asked, spotting that Steph had her hand up.
///
"You paged- oooh is that the 3D printer?" You asked, walking over as Doctor Pierce and Bailey exchanged amused looks at your excitement.
"We're 3D printing the patient's tumour." Doctor Pierce explained as you glanced over the printer.
"Shane and Steph mainly worked with the printer last year, so I've never really seen anything be printed before now." You admitted, leaving Bailey to roll her eyes.
"It's going to take 10 hours." She deadpanned, leaving you to nod.
"That much detail, it only makes sense." You replied, pausing as a chair was pushed over to you.
"If you're going to stand over it like you're at the movies, you might as well sit and watch."
///
"What are you guys still doing here?" Doctor Shepherd enquired as she walked in, glancing at where you were sat infront of the 3D printer, half asleep.
"We're solving a tumour by 3D printing it." Doctor Pierce explained, walking to the other side of the room as Doctor Grey asked what Doctor Shepherd was doing.
"Also solving a tumour."
"Maybe you should 3D print your tumour, S/n here would probably enjoy watching it." Doctor Grey joked, leaving Doctor Shepherd to admit visibility wasn't the issue with Doctor Herman's tumour.
"You all realise printing this thing is going to take, like, five more hours?" Doctor Shepherd asked, gesturing to how you were half-asleep in your chair.
"7ish." "7 20 minutes." "7 30 minutes."
"I'm just saying you could go home, sleep, then come back. S/n doesn't have to sleep in that chair, for one." Doctor Shepherd gestured to you until you revealed a cup of coffee.
"Someone has to stay in case the printer crashes." Doctor Grey explained, talking about how weird it feels to sleep alone.
"I can't sleep alone, the nightmares get worse. Jo has to switch between staying at Karev's and staying at our apartment because of it, and other reasons." You mumbled, downing the coffee like it was water in a desert.
"If you didn't have Derek, you had Cristina. I'm guessing you were like, the middle spoon in a very weird spooning situation..." You zoned out as Doctor Grey chuckled.
///
"I miss sleeping with a man in my bed. You know, turned away from each other, barely touching except for just the arm thrown over your waist..."
You covered your hand with your mouth as you listened to Doctor Shepherd's and Doctor Pierce's guy problems.
"That sofa was hard as a rock, I was exhausted."
"This is why I'm gay and own the comfiest couch ever!" You grinned, spinning in your chair as the other surgeons turned to look at you.
///
You woke up by falling out of the wheelie chair, realising that the tumour had been fully printed.
"You talk in your sleep." Doctor Shepherd pointed out, leaving you to freeze, muttering apologises under your breath.
"I'll go get coffee and then we can devise a plan for the cyclops." Doctor Bailey stated as Doctor Pierce threw you a whiteboard pen.
///
You, Steph and Jo were in charge of writing the plan for the tumour on the whiteboard, the three of you taking turns to organise and redo the board each time.
"You're their board bitch." Steph began, leaving you to laugh, turning to face her.
"You jealous?" You teased, leaving Jo to grin.
"You're jealous, aren't you?"
"No. A little." Steph admitted before you realised you needed to be writing, turning to hurry over to the board as Jo and Steph nudged each other.
"You need an extra set of hands?" Doctor Karev asked, leaving Doctor Grey to turn to Jo.
"Yes, Wilson. S/n, can you bring the whiteboard down with Wilson?" Doctor Grey asked, leaving you to nod.
You raised an eyebrow as Steph ran out of the gallery, leaving you to exchange looks with Karev.
"I think you just helped her understand the tumour Shepherd is working on." You stated, leaving Karev to pause.
"I'm surprised you aren't working with Hunt and Torres." He admitted, leaving you to tense.
"Hunt reminds me of someone I don't like thinking about." You replied, folding your arms as Karev frowned.
///
You were sat in the chapel, staring at the candles flickering in the light. The glowing orange captivated you as you stood up, going to light another candle as you heard the doors open.
Jo and Steph froze as they spotted you sat in the chapel, staring at the candles.
"Braces? Are you okay?" Jo asked quietly, watching as you reached out to Steph and squeezed her hand.
"We lit candles after a student died at my high school when I was seventeen. The candles always look beautiful, flicking oranges, dancing flames... I'll see you two later, okay?" You replied, meeting Jo's eyes before looking at Steph, who nodded, leaving you to nod back before you left the chapel.
"I miss you, Dani." You murmured as you walked down the corridor, away from the chapel.

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 12 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
/// Flashback to Intern Year... ///
"S/n, you're going to do the other pins." Doctor Torres stated, passing you the tools.
"Are you-"
"Don't question me, just focus on where the pins are going, you've seen me place the other ones already. Block out everything else but my voice and the tools." Doctor Torres explained before the two of you froze at the voice over the intercom.
"Torres! What the hell do you think you're doing? Letting an intern-" Hunt asked loudly over the intercom but Torres already had it handled.
"I know what I'm doing, Hunt! And so does S/n, hey, stop apologising, you're doing great!" Doctor Torres argued, turning to you as you began to apologise.
"Is she seriously letting S/n do that? She's an intern!" Leah exclaimed, leaving Jo and Brooks to glare at her. You looked up and made direct eye contact with Leah. You'd forgotten in that moment how the gallery was full of staff, including all the other interns from your class.
"Torres, if this goes wrong, it's on both of your heads." Hunt warned before turning the intercom off.
"Now that it's quiet again, you keep going, you're doing great, S/n." Doctor Torres encouraged, watching you begin to place the next pin.
/// Returning to 3rd Year Residency ///
"S/n, we have a seventeen year old with a broken wrist in bed three. Robbins is with Herman and Karev is in surgery with Grey." Doctor Kepner explained as she passed you the tablet.
"Page Torres, just in case." You asked one of the nurses, heading over to bed three.
"Hi, so I heard you broke your wrist..." You paused as you noticed how the patient was avoiding your gaze.
"You paged me, S/n?" Doctor Torres asked, walking over as she spotted you.
"Yeah, broken wrist."
"Okay, how did you break your wrist, Roxanne?" Doctor Torres asked, frowning as the patient wouldn't look at either of you.
"It's Roxie." She murmured, leaving you to pause.
"Wait, wait, did you... wow! Uh, we're going to send you up for some x-rays, Roxie." You stated, leaving Doctor Torres to frown.
"What did you-"
You shook your head frantically, covering your mouth with your hand as how Roxie had broken her wrist began to set in.
///
You were standing with Doctor Torres as Roxie had her wrist realigned and put in a cast.
"Roxie still not saying how she broke her wrist?" Doctor Torres asked, leaving you to pause, turning back to Roxie who raised an eyebrow.
"One question, was it worth it?" You asked, leaving Roxie to let out a laugh as Doctor Torres frowned at you in confusion.
"What was worth breaking her wrist for- oh... oh!" Doctor Torres realised, leaving the two of you to walk away as Roxie was discharged.
"What are you two laughing at?" Doctor Kepner enquired, raising an eyebrow as that had you and Doctor Torres laughing even more.
///
"Everything was in that car. Everything." Melissa stated, nobody noticing how Jo's face fell in realisation before she turned, spotting you standing outside Melissa's patient room with an unreadble expression.
"The car was the first thing she asked about when she woke up. She said she was asleep in it when she was attacked. It sounds like it's all she had." Jo stated as she, Doctor Torres and Doctor Hunt were scrubbing in. You were leaning against the sinks in thought.
"So you're saying she's homeless?" Hunt asked, folding his arms.
"I'm saying I think she's living in her car, so, yeah." Jo reiterated.
"Well, I thought you said she had a job."
"You can have a job and still be homeless, heck, you can have two jobs and be living in an abandoned attic. That just makes it even worse." You interrupted, meeting Jo's eyes before your gazes fell to the floor.
"I mean, try going through high school living in your car. You got to lie all the time, you can never have anyone over, you have to make up excuses why you have no bathroom, and then you know what? You can't even tell anybody 'cause they look at you like you're weird and pitiful." Jo ranted, leaving you to clear your throat.
"Until you find out the person who caught the lacrosse ball that was about to go through your car window is also in a similar situation, and that you're not completely alone." You added, pausing as Hunt asked Jo to find him when Melissa woke up after surgery.
"You lived in your car in high school? And you lived in an abandoned attic?" Doctor Torres asked, looking between Jo and you.
"See, that's the look." Jo pointed out before heading into surgery.
"Y/n?" Callie prompted, leaving you to sigh.
"The next door neighbour knew I was up there, let me use their washing machine if I'd help around the house. I washed Jo's clothes with mine, and shared food with her too." You explained before you were paged.
///
"Hey, you done soon? Let's go home." Karev asked, leaning in the doorway as he found Jo looking over some films.
"You mean go to your house?"
"What?" Karev frowned, leaving Jo to continue as she turned off the lights to the light box.
"It's your house. I just crash there, right?" Jo asked, leaving Karev to frown.
"You have an apartment with S/n when you're not at mine, you have two homes, Jo. I would have asked you to move in, but S/n needs you and you need her. You two are a two for one deal and it took me a while to realise that."
"I used to be so careful, but when this changes, I don't have anywhere to be, Braces could go off for a fellowship in New York for all I know, and then I'd lose her and I could lose you-"
"You're not going to lose Y/n or me, we both care about you. What's changing anyway, I thought we were good?"
"It always changes Alex, it always does. I came back to the apartment one night and heard Braces singing Creep by Radiohead as she played guitar. She actually took my advice and started learning guitar. Right now, I have two beds and a house and an apartment. But it's your bed, and Braces and I's bed. I hate that I don't want to lose either." Jo exclaimed, tears in her eyes until Alex walked over.
"Hey, look at me, you got me, and you've got Y/n, neither of us are going anywhere, because our homes are with you." Alex stated, leaving Jo to let out a breath.
///
Jo and Alex found you sat on the floor with a cup of coffee. You hadn't even spotted them until Jo was dangling an apple infront of your face.
"What's up?" You asked, taking the offered apple with a raised eyebrow.
"You wanna come over tonight?Jo says you can actually cook." Alex offered, leaving you to raise an eyebrow.
"Did you discover that the hard way and have to buy new pans because Jo tried to cook more than a pot noodle?" You asked, leaving Jo to gasp whilst Alex laughed.
///
"Look it's your first solo surgery..." Steph began before spotting you walking in, "It's a big deal, if you're too nervous, I'm sure Y/n or I could take it off your hands?" Steph suggested as Jo exited the toilet stall.
"I'm not nervous." Jo stated, heading towards the sink.
"Great, well, you better not be pregnant. Because if you let Karev throw a baby in there, I will never forgive you-"
"I don't want to hear this, nope, nope, nope!" You retorted, covering your ears as Steph laughed.
"I'm not pregnant! Braces, calm down! And I'm not nervous, I know how to fix a hernia. Step one, medial dissection. Step two, identify triangle of doom, avoid the iliac vein, step three-"
"Step three, puke. Bailey's going to eat you alive." Steph interrupted, leaving Jo to huff.
"No, she won't, because I'm a badass. Step three, lateral dissection, step four..."
"Identify triangle of pain." You stated, leaaving Jo to huff.
"I've got this procedure down, and I am not afraid of little bitty Doctor Bailey." Jo stated as a toilet flushed, leaving you to freeze.
"You should be, especially after that comment, good luck Joey." You stated as you and Steph turned to leave.
"Oh my god!" Steph exclaimed as the two of you speed-walked down the corridor away from the bathroom.
"Holy macarons!" You covered your mouth to try calm down.
///
"I just finished my first solo tapp surgery!" Jo grinned as she ran over to where Steph was walking over to you.
"All right. Did you throw up in your mask?" Steph asked, smirking as you presented both her and Jo with granola bars.
"No. Why does everyone keep asking me that? I nailed it! Medial, lateral, pain, mesh... boom!" Jo recalled the steps leaving you and Steph to freeze.
"What about triangle of doom, the iliac vein?" Steph asked, pausing as she noticed you scrambling to grab a tablet to check Jo's hernia patient updates.
"What about it?"
"What about it? You skipped it just then." Steph stated, leaving Jo to freeze.
"But I did it, in there. I didn't skip it in there. I did it, right?" Jo asked, leaving Steph to glance at where you had pulled up the patient information.
"There's nothing here indicating something wrong post-op." You replied, but Jo's frown didn't fade.
///
Steph was sat next to Jo whilst you knelt infront of her, holding her hand as Steph tried to comfort Jo, saying everything was going to be fine.
"Edwards, out. S/n, I know you won't leave without force." Bailey ordered, leaving Steph to leave whilst you stood up with Jo.
"How was the CT?"
"She never made it to CT." Your stomach dropped, immediately wanting to turn to Jo but you knew she wouldn't accept comfort right now.
"Wait..."
"This was your surgery, Wilson. I'm gonna need you to talk to the family." Bailey stated, raising an eyebrow at you, which was code for you weren't allowed to follow.
"Oh, my god. She's dead? She's dead-"
"I never said that. Wilson! She's fine!" Bailey interrupted Jo's rambles, leaving you to gulp and Jo to jump slightly.
"I didn't say she was dead, I said she never made it to CT, I didn't take her to CT, because I saw you do it in the OR, Doctor Badass." Bailey stated, leaving Jo to react.
"You have a problem-"
"No, you do, in fact, both of you do, you both second guess yourself, and S/n, you over-apologise! Wilson, this was a first in a career full of surgeries, you will be doing on your own. Before too long, there won't be anyone to catch you when you fall. Your patients need to trust, that when you take them into surgery, you know what you're doing. Now, how can you expect them to do that, when you two can't even trust yourselves?"
"You are so mean." Jo stated, folding her arms.
"I am, indeed. Tell all your little bitty friends. Oh, S/n, you have your solo surgery next shift." Doctor Bailey stated, leaving your face to fall as Jo let out a breath.
"Wait, who is it with? What am I doing?" You called after Bailey but she was already out the door.
///
You were laying on the floor in the other room with Jo, whilst Meredith, Callie, Alex and Doctor Pierce were drinking together in the other room.
"Play something for me?" Jo asked, turning in her chair as she realised you were running your fingers across the strings absentmindedly.
"Okay, okay, um, give me a minute." you replied, clearing your throat and sitting up properly to grab the guitar.
You hadn't realised that Arizona was in the doorway and the others had stopped talking the moment they heard guitar strings.
"When you were here before, couldn't look you in the eye, you're just like an angel, your skin makes me cry. You float like a feather, in a beautiful world, I wish I was special, you're so fucking special. But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo, what the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here..."

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 11 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
"Doctor Willis?"
You paused, raising an eyebrow at the new cardio chief as she kept calling Jo 'Doctor Willis'.
"Um, Joey! You're on cardio today, right?"
"Oh, it's Wilson, not Willis." Jo explained, leaving Doctor Pierce to apologise whilst you headed upstairs.
"What's first?"
"Jo, Josephine." Jo grinned, leaving Doctor Pierce to frown and correct herself.
"What patient is first?"
"Right... Doctor Bailey needs a consult." Jo explained after a glance at the tablet.
///
"When you seem really nice, or young, or pretty, sometimes people don't take you seriously. You have to help them understand who they're dealing with, you have to bring the thunder, if you don't do this, you should, you're really pretty..." Doctor Pierce explained, leaving Jo to nod slightly.
"Who's next?"
///
"Watson."
"That is not my name." Jo grumbled as she stopped writing on the OR board, passing you the pen so you could continue.
"You were indiscrete and stupid, and you are off my service." Doctor Pierce stated, leaving you to almost drop the pen as Jo replied.
"Wait, what?"
"Karev's your boyfriend, right?" Doctor Pierce asked, answering her own question as Jo stuttered, "yeah he is, I could tell. But you just met me and apparently felt it appropriate to casually share confidential information about your boyfriend's career, and then fail to tell me it was confidential, so I just used it to make smalltalk. And now I don't ever need to learn your name because you are off my service." Doctor Pierce snapped, about to walk away.
"Is this you bringing more thunder?" Jo enquired, leaving Doctor Pierce to stop, meeting your eyes as you turned around to try escape being in the middle of the conversation.
"No, this is me being pissed. Go swap with a resident I can trust... in fact you, S/n, come with me." Doctor Pierce ordered, leaving you to pass Jo back the OR board pen and begin to follow her, whilst giving Jo a terrified look.
///
"Doctor Pierce, bad news." Jo began, interrupting Doctor Pierce's lunch with Doctor Webber.
"You're off my service, where is S/n?"
"She's trying to find Doctor Robbins." Jo explained, leaving Doctor Pierce to sigh.
"Oh god, tell S/n to hurry with Robbins, I'll go talk to them." Maggie stated, standing up and hurrying away as Jo followed, leaving Doctor Webber alone for lunch.
///
"Doctor Robbins?" Doctor Pierce asked, noticing how you were standing outside the attendings lounge.
"In there, but she's talking to Doctor Torres." You explained as Maggie stuck her head in the door.
"I'm sorry." Doctor Robbins stated as Doctor Pierce deflected and you avoided eye contact.
"You're nice and full of crap. How's it going?" Doctor Robbins asked, frowning as you grimaced.
"Not good." Doctor Pierce stated, folding her arms.
///
"Edwards, Whitton, S/n, get her ready to move." Doctor Pierce instructed, leaving Jo to grumble.
"Oh, so she gets your surnames right."
"Maybe you shouldn't have pissed her off, also, you know how I feel about my surname." You stated, leaving Jo to falter for a moment.
"Braces, what's wrong?"
"I'm fine, just a headache. I have to go prep for this surgery, are you going to be in the gallery?" You asked, leaving Jo to hesitate before nodding.
///
"Thanks everybody, I gotta go check on that baby. S/n, can you close?" Doctor Pierce asked, having restored sinus rhythmn to the baby's mother.
"Can I close?"
"You're a third year resident. Can you close a midline sternotomy? Can I trust you to do that?" Doctor Pierce retorted, leaving you to immediately nod.
"Yes, of course, thank you!" You called after her as she left.
One glance up at the gallery showed Jo giving you a thumbs up as you grinned at her from under your mask.
///
"How's Rita Choudry?" Doctor Pierce asked, spotting you working on the computers as Jo lounged in your lap.
"Good, it was an easy closure and she's now in post-op." You explained, pausing as Doctor Pierce frowned at the two of you.
"How's the baby?" Jo enquired as Doctor Pierce checked her phone.
"It got complicated... Wheaton, I thought you were dating Karev?"
"She is, there's no other available seats besides my lap apparently." You added as Jo smiled, leaning into you as you pushed the chair back from the desk.
"Oh, hey, it's doctor blabbermouth!" Doctor Karev exclaimed, leaving Doctor Pierce to begin to apologise whilst Jo stood up to intervene too.
"S/n?" Doctor Pierce nodded for you to follow as the two of you headed down to the ER whilst Jo and Karev talked.
///
"Doctor Shepherd, I was called for a cardio consult. Was that you or the other Doctor Shepherd?" Doctor Pierce enquired, leaving Doctor Shepherd to smile.
"I love you."
"Thank you?" Doctor Pierce frowned in confusion, glancing at you but you just smiled at them both.
"I'm sorry, no-one has ever called my brother 'the other Doctor Shepherd', it's beautiful. I called you. Over here."
"This is Tracy, early 20's, possible minor ischemic stroke." Doctor Kepner explained, leaving the person who accompanied the patient to ask if he had given her a stroke.
"After sexual activity." Doctor Kepner added, leaving Doctor Shepherd to converse with the patient.
"So, was it just me?"
"What answer are you hoping for?" Doctor Kepner enquired, raising an eyebrow at the guy.
"S/n, can you order an echo and some chest films?" Doctor Pierce requested, leaving you to nod as she walked away on her phone.
///
"Doctor Pierce, Doctor Bailey asked to see you when you're finished, I think it's regarding the genome testing." You explained, leaving Doctor Pierce to nod before she glanced back at you.
"Are you sure you and Wilson aren't dating?"
"Hospital rumours think that Karev is Jo's beard or Jo's cheating on either me or Karev, however, Jo and I were never together, we've know each other for ages and she's my family... sorry I talk too much, I'm sorry." You apologised, pausing as Doctor Pierce shook her head.
///
"Pierce figured out what happened to the McNeil kids?" Steph asked as you sat between Jo and Steph, working on charts alongside them.
"Yeah, she did." You replied as you wrote something down.
"She solved it. She did what Yang couldn't do, and she hates me." Jo interjected, leaving you to roll your eyes.
"Maybe stop giving her half the story when you talk to her?" You suggested, leaving Jo to flick a pen lid at you.
"Hi." Doctor Pierce's voice had the three of you tense up immediately.
Steph was already out the room as Jo froze and you withheld sliding down in your seat, choosing to stare at the charts infront of you instead.
"Braces and I finished your post-ops. Anything else?" Jo asked, gesturing to you as you awkwardly waved.
"Joey and Braces, huh? You don't take no for an answer, do you? So you're insubordinate, along with everything else, and S/n, you can't be independent, can you-"
"No! You don't get to talk to her like that, or me for that matter. I am not insubordinate or untrustworthy. I think we got off to a bad start, I made a mistake. I should have told you the whole story, like Braces said. Also, Braces can be independant, she has to be, after everything the two of us have been through. We came here to learn, and we learned a crap ton from you today, so we decided that Braces and I want to learn from you and that I deserve a second chance. And you weren't going to give me one, so I gave myself one."
"Is this your thunder? Because I'd say, if anyone upsets S/n here, you won't just bring thunder, you'll bring a hurricane. All right, Wilson, I'll see you in the morning, S/n, Doctor Torres requested you. It seems Doctor Yang was partial to your work, seems the residents here aren't completely useless." Doctor Pierce stated, leaving Jo to pause.
"You keep checking your watch, did you write my name on your wrist?"
"I did." Doctor Pierce sheepishly admitted, hurrying out as you and Jo exchanged looks.
"So cardio and ortho are fighting over you." Jo teased, leaving you to roll your eyes.
"Whatever, Thunderstruck." You deadpanned, leaving Jo to stick her tongue out at you.
///
You were brushing your teeth when you got the text.
Joey: Doctor Grey is in the bathroom talking to Alex whilst he's in the shower
Braces: You do the same thing to me when I'm showering?
Joey: That's not the same
Braces: You even joined me in it once because we were running low on hot water
Braces: change the locks
///
You were grabbing a coffee in between checking on Doctor Torres' post-op patients when your phone went off, indicating that the group chat you had with Doctor Torres and Doctor Robbins had been messaged.
Torres: Now I know why you don't like Hunt
S/n: I thought you figured that out when I was an intern
Torres: He ordered me around in my own lab
S/n: He ordered you around your OR when you let me do that surgery on the leg
S/n: He was yelling down the intercom that it was on your head if I messed it up
Torres: I knew you wouldn't, plus you needed something to go right after Hunt had you crying in the bathroom
S/n: Pierce had to double-check Joey and I weren't dating
Robbins: What did you say?
S/n: hospital rumours think Karev is Jo's beard or she's cheating on him/me
S/n: gtg

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 10 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
"Today's forecast, hey! Mid seventies, unseasonably warm and clear in the Pacific Northwest. It's going to be a great day, Seattle!"
You rolled your eyes at the tv, checking your phone to spot a reply from Micah as your other hand reached for the cup of coffee chilling at the coffee machine.
"You still talking to that blue-haired woman from the bar?" Jo enquired as she walked out of the bathroom, grabbing the box of cereal from the counter on the way to the couch.
"Micah. Yeah, she's still talking to me." You replied, pausing as you realised you'd been talking to Micah for a while now.
"Are you two like, official or-"
"Jo, you know how crap I am at relationships-"
"How can you be bad at something when you've never had a long-term relationship, not since you were seventeen anyway." Jo retorted, taking a sip of her coffee with a grimace.
"Okay, can someone tell me why this coffee tastes like apples?" Jo asked, leaving you to smirk.
"That's what happens when you aren't around when I go food shopping, I choose the coffee flavours." You taunted, sipping your coffee with a moan of delight.
"And you chose apple? Of all flavours, apple? Coffee apple?" Jo exclaimed before you threw her ID card at her.
"We have rounds, let's go."
///
"Wow, is Lebackes grooming you? Are you going to be Doctor Junior Butthole?" Doctor Robbins asked, leaving Jo to laugh loud enough that you heard from the vending machines.
"Oh, no! That's what they'll call you!" Jo exclaimed, grinning as you passed her a snack from the vending machines.
"I won't hear them, because I'll be squealing away in this." Doctor Karev grinned, leaving you to pause.
"Overcompensating for something?"
Jo gasped, whacking you in the arm as Doctor Robbins laughed before speaking and walking away.
"Congratulations, lil butthole."
///
You were standing with Jo and Arizona when all your pagers went off.
"Incoming mass casuality trauma-" Jo began to rattle off but you tapped her arm, gesturing to the news playing on one of the screens.
"Mall explosion."
///
"Where's Braces?" Jo exclaimed as she looked up through all the triaged patient beds.
"She's outside helping with decontamination of the incoming casualities."
"Micah? You were at the mall?! Come on, this way." You directed Micah through the decontamination section before she was admitted into the hospital triage.
"Is that, that's the blue-haired girl from the bar that Y/n was talking to?" Shane asked, leaving Jo to freeze.
"Oh, crap."
///
You were standing with Micah as she was getting treated for the skin irritation caused by dry cleaners washing liquid when you spotted her.
"Leah?" You murmured, watching as Leah Murphy walked out of the ER and disappear into the car park.
"Did you know her?" Micah asked, noticing how you were staring into space.
"Yeah, she was in my resident class... and my friend." You explained, looking down to see Micah frowning.
"Then why do your eyes shine so much more for her than they ever have for me?" Micah began, leaving you to frown.
"What?"
"You can go now, Doctor S/n." Mich replied, turning away from you as your face fell.
///
"Hey, what's wrong?" Jo asked, spotting you sat with your head in your locker.
"Micah and I are no longer talking." You stated, turning your head to the side as Jo let out a breath of relief.
"Oh, well, I know that's not how you should do things, I'm glad you did because I didn't really like her-" Jo rambled before you cut her off.
"She told me to go because I looked at Leah how I should have looked at her."
"Wait, wait, wait, you actually liked Leah? I thought it was unrequited?" Jo asked, frowning as you sighed.
"I liked Leah, but the drama was destroying her and now she doesn't even work at this hospital and she needs a fresh start." You reasoned, leaving Jo to sigh.
"I think you need a fresh start too. No more bars or women... maybe learn to play the guitar so it stops gathering dust in our apartment-"
"It's gathering dust because you're the one who cleans, remember? I cook and do the laundry, you clean and fix things." You replied, leaving Jo to roll her eyes playfully.
"Yeah, yeah, I know, we've lived together for a while now. Anyways, you should start learning the guitar instead of getting your heart locked and unlocked again and again." Jo replied, leaving you to sigh.
///
"You really should get your locks changed."
Jo screamed as Doctor Grey's voice woke her from her slumber in Alex's arms.
"What are you doing here?" Alex asked, opening one eye to acknowledge Meredith standing at the foot of the bed.
"I need to talk to Alex. Wilson, get out of the bed, I can't get in the bed with you in it. I brought you a present anyway, it's in the hallway-"
"I'm not wearing any-" Jo began to argue.
"I don't care about your boobs, Wilson. Your present doesn't either-" Meredith began, leaving Jo to frown.
"Joey, I've seen it all before, hurry up, this hallway is cold!" Your voice had Jo's jaw dropping whilst Alex looked confused.
"You brought S/n with you?" Alex began, leaving Meredith to pause.
"I picked her up on the way over here, Wilson, go warm S/n up, she was shivering when we got here. You should really get the heating checked out." Meredith stated as Jo got up.
"I guess I'll go make us all some coffee, since I'm up." Jo replied sarcastically, pausing as she opened the door to reveal you in an oversized shirt and shorts.
"You picked her up in her pyjamas?" Jo asked, leaving Meredith to wave her off.
"Coffee would be great." Meredith smiled, leaving Jo to sigh before she walked with you down to the kitchen.
///
"Out of my way!" Jo shouted, pushing Steph as Steph growled.
"Best cases go to the fastest resident and I'm the fastest resident- S/n, where the hell did you come from?" Steph exclaimed as you sprinted past them.
"I'm caffeinated and I've been up all night. No more Mister Nice Girl, it's every woman for themselves now." Jo declared, leaving you to laugh as Jo and Steph argued over dibs.
"One of you get over here!" Doctor Grey instructed, leaving Jo to let out a screech as Steph shoved her and ran towards the gurney.
"Race you outside!" You joked, laughing as Jo shoved you, the two of you sprinting outside to spot the gurney that had landed in the car roof.
"Holy-"
"Help us!" The people inside the car yelled as Doctors Hunt, Robbins and Torres tried to get the doors to open.
"Hang in there, Dave, let me get a closer look..." Doctor Torres froze, removing her head from the open window with a blank look.
"Everything okay?" Doctor Hunt enquired, frowning at Doctor Torres' face.
"Yeah... no. They're sitting in each others' laps with no pants. Why aren't you wearing any pants?" Doctor Torres asked, leaving Doctor Robbins to deadpan.
"Well, I'll give you one little guess."
"Okay, we're gonna need to get them both c-spined-" Doctor Hunt began, turning to Doctor Torres and Robbins.
"Not it." "Ooh, bum leg." Doctor Torres and Robbins stated at once, walking away as you ducked behind Jo.
Hunt pointing at Jo meant she was shoving her lab coat into your arms, grumbling "dibs" under her breathe as you went to stand by Doctor Torres.
"How did you-"
"There are times where you learn to hide behind people, such as in PE class, or just now."
///
You were standing next to the door, waiting to help Jo out of the car as the other patients were loaded onto gurneys.
"Good news is, this day can't get any worse, can it?" The patient was cut off as the blanket covering his legs and other areas blew up in the wind, leaving Doctor Robbins to turn, covering your eyes with her hand as Doctor Torres fixed the blanket.
"Uh, thanks..." You spluttered as Jo looked at you with wide-eyes, realising what had just happened.
///
"I cannot believe they snuck out to that car. If I were her mother and this brain bleed didn't kill her, I totally would kill her. Oh, god. Oh, god. I sound just like my father when I was a teenager." Doctor Torres rambled, leaving you to laugh.
"It's sweet you care though." You interjected, leaving Doctor Torres to glance back at you.
"I love him, but I don't want our daughter to have my father for a mother." Doctor Torres stated, leaving you to pause as Doctor Robbins turned.
"I don't know what you just said, but it's nice to see what our kids have in store for them one day... or kid. You sure you don't want to consider a surrogate?" Doctor Robbins questioned but Callie cleared her throat as the surgery the three of you were watching began to have complications.
"Okay, I can't watch this. I'm gonna go check on Dave. Will you tell me when it's, um, when it's over? S/n, you wanna come look at some cool x-rays?" Doctor Torres asked, leaving Doctor Robbins to nod whilst you stood up, nearly tripping over in your eagerness to go see the cool x-rays.
///
"I'm a widow. She widowed me. I'll never have Alex to myself again." Jo complained, leaving Steph to glance at you as you drank your beer.
"Her best friend just left yesterday, okay? She needs someone to talk to. You'd feel the same if Y/n and you were separated, although you two technically have been since Karev came into the picture." Steph pointed out, leaving Jo to freeze and try to meet your gaze.
"This is how you felt? Wait, Alex hasn't kicked you out of your bed in the middle of the night-" Jo began, leaving you to glare.
"No, you moved beds entirely. Also, Doctor Grey rang me before she went over to Karev's so she didn't walk into you and him doing your devil's tango. She picked me up in case you were grumpy." You retorted, leaving Jo to sigh.
"She kicked me out of my own bed in the middle of the night, whilst I was naked, and he let her." Jo exclaimed, leaving Steph to glance at you with a smirk.
"Yeah, you're screwed." Steph stated, standing up to head over to the bar as you laughed into your beer.

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 9 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
"Hey, Wilson, did you happen to put on boot covers before you came in here?" Doctor Torres enquired, smirking under her mask because she already knew the answer.
"Why would I have-" Jo gasped, cutting herself off as the shower of blood from the compartment syndrome errupted all over her shoes.
"Okay! I get it..." Jo admitted, tensing up at the feeling of the blood soaking into her socks, "it's in my socks..."
"Ha! That never gets old!" Doctor Torres laughed, grinning under her mask before continuing to work on the patient.
///
"What happened to your shoes? Did you squash grapes?" You tilted your head to the side, picking up Jo's discarded shoes as she grabbed her spare pair.
"It's blood, Braces."
"Oh I know, that's what happens when you forget your boot covers." You chuckled, leaving Jo to whack you in the arm.
"You could have warned me!"
"It's better to learn from experience. I'll get the blood out of these when we get home, alright?" You explained, pausing as Jo's face fell.
"Uh, I'm going to be at Alex's tonight, but you can try get the blood out, I don't want to have to bin them unless I have to." Jo admitted, leaving you to pause, nodding slightly.
"Of, of course, I'm probably going to check out that flea market tonight anyway." You deflected, glancing at Jo's bloody trainers before putting them in a plastic bag to go in your backpack.
///
Danielle's brother owned a guitar.
That was what you first thought when you spotted it on sale at the flea market.
Danielle's brother owned a guitar but Danielle loved to steal it and play it whilst you sat with her in her family's back garden.
You didn't even stop to think as you bought it.
It sat propped up against the stack of books you'd turned into a bedside table as you stared at it, sipping the glass of water you'd just poured.
Your phone buzzing broke you out of memory lane, leaving you to put the glass down to grab your phone.
Joey: don't bother with the trainers, alex is going to buy me new ones
Y/n: i got the blood out.
You rolled your eyes, throwing your phone on the couch before heading over to grab the guitar, trying to remember how Danielle would tune it.
///
"S/n, I need you to monitor Avery's and Torres' post-op patients since they will be busy with the conjoined twins." Doctor Hunt instructed, leaving you to nod before turning ninty degrees to spot Jo already being over-assigned patients.
///
"I can't to this, guys, last time I did this-" Leah panicked, leaving Shane to deadpan.
"Through the table, we know. That's why we're practicing."
You raised an eyebrow as Jo walked over, dropping an apple infront of you before spotting you had already grabbed one.
"Oh- what are we doing?" Jo asked, distracting herself as you took her apple too.
"Doctor Shepherd picked Leah to do the burr holes in the Cooper twins." Shane explained, passing Leah the drill whilst Jo grinned, taking her half of your lunch as you pushed it towards her.
"Doesn't he know that last time-"
"Shut up." Leah growled whilst you flicked condensation at Jo to distract her from bringing up Leah drilling through the table last time.
"How's scut?" Steph enquired as you took a sip of Jo's coffee when she wasn't looking.
"Oh, it's fine, I'm actually killing it." Jo admitted before taking a mouthful of lunch.
You frowned as you watched Leah practicing the burr holes.
"Leah-"
"You're killing her!" Jo yelled as Steph laughed.
"I can't do this." Leah attempted to pass Shane back the drill but Shane argued that was her first one and she knew how hard to drill now.
"Take a breath and try again. It's better to learn from experience." You stated, leaving Leah to look up at you hesitantly.
"Is that your saying for this month 'it's better to learn from experience'?" Jo teased, leaving you to glare as you bit into the apple.
"I'm trying to be helpful, unlike everyone who is dumping their scut on you." You retorted, mumbling 'Hunt' under your breath but it went unheard.
///
"Joey, what's going on?" You asked, sticking your head into the room as you pulled a mask on.
"Can you help me with this? It's snagged on something-" Jo began, leaving you to run over.
"Page Hunt, I think it's perforated a vein. Joey, I'll go do that feeding tube change in peds, okay, you focus on this patient and the drain removal in 3922." You instructed, leaving Jo to nod as she hurried out, whilst you headed towards peds.

"Doctor Hunt, I should have called you-"
"You're lucky S/n did something right for a change and did. If not me, then you should have called someone, this hospital is full of doctors, Wilson. Because you tried to remove the wire by yourself, forcefully, you perforated the posterior wall of the subclavian vein, causing her to bleed. And now, I have to perform an emergency venous repair, and her colectomy has to be postponed." Doctor Hunt explained as he worked.
"I, I was trying to handle everything-"
"and you made it worse." Doctor Hunt growled, looking at Jo, but Jo was distracted as she noticed you glaring at Hunt from the gallery before you walked out.
///
You didn't expect for Jo to link arms with you and pull you into Joe's bar across the street with Leah and Steph.
"I can't get fired, my parents will disown me." Leah admitted, flicking a peanut shell onto the bar whilst you stared at the beer, thinking.
"I'll end up back in school." Steph replied, twiddling her fingers.
"I'll end up back in jail-" Jo was cut off as you gave her a look.
"I have no idea where I'll end up. Anywhere but Chicago, or in Kansas." You grumbled, taking a swig of your beer as Shane spoke.
"Will you all stop? If anyone's getting fired, it's me. I went crazy, very publicly."
"I disrupted an entire OR, I'm a surgical liability and Shepherd hates me." Leah retorted, pulling apart napkins as she spoke.
"Hunt hates me, you should have seen his face today when I screwed up-"
"That's his face every time he sees me, ever since intern year. If it was Hunt's vote alone, I would have been gone way back then." You retorted, leaving Jo to tap her beer bottle to yours.
"My ex owns the hospital, it's me." Steph interjected, leaving you to look at her worriedly.
"I hear that some residencies sometimes clean house, like fire an entire class of residents and start fresh-" Leah admitted, leaving the five of you to immediately reach for your drinks.
"Next round's on him." Jo stated as Doctor Karev turned up, having had a great day.
"Uh, I didn't order this-" You frowned as the bartender passed you a shot glass of something.
"She ordered it for you, said you looked too cute to be sad." The bartender stated, pointing out the blue haired woman who raised her glass to you.
"Even when one of us can be fired, you're getting girls." Jo chuckled, leaving you to roll your eyes before raising the glass to the woman and downing the shot.
"Are you going to-"
"Are you staying at Karev's tonight?" You asked, leaving Jo to roll her eyes as a napkin was dropped off with a phone number on for you.
///
"Are you leaving?" the blue haired woman, who you now knew as Micah murmured, leaving you to pause.
"I have pre-rounds in two hours and I need to shower-"
"Just use mine, I don't mind. As long as I get to see you again when you're off-shift." Micah replied, rolling over in her blankets to pull the pillow closer whilst you headed to the bathroom.
///
You were lucky your backpack had spare clothes in that you could slip into after showering at Micah's.
"Why do you smell like fancy shower gel?" Jo asked, scratching at her neck as you raised an eyebrow.
"Why are you smelling me- Jo, you need to calm down, you're breaking out in hives." You explained, passing Jo the tube of E45 as Steph declared that Jo was dying.
"They're stress hives, I've been a mess since I heard about Hunt and Webber talking about firing one of us." Jo stated as she pulled on her shirt.
"You're a mess? I've gained eight pounds this week!" Leah declared, leaving Shane to deadpan that she could stop eating.
"Where did you even get these at 7am?" Warren asked, picking up one of the still wrapped burgers.
"Drop it before I drop you." Leah growled, grabbing the burger and dropping it back in the paper bag.
"You know whose not going to get fired? Me, I'm going to keep my head down and stay out of trouble." Steph stated as she sat down to tie her shoes.
You barely withheld rolling your eyes as Jo stated that you all should be impressing the higher ups, knowing that any external display of stress could make you be seen as a liability.
///
Your eyes widened as you noticed how much Jo was freaking out and rambling to Doctor Kepner, much to Doctor Torres' disgust.
"Screw it, S/n, get in here. Wilson, here, has lost her grit." Doctor Torres exclaimed, leaving you to glance at Jo before walking over.
"I do, I do have grit!" Jo argued, leaving you to stay quiet and keep working as Doctor Torres replied.
"Yeah, well, all I see is some, yes ma'am, no ma'am, sissy girl, and there's no place in ortho for sissy girls. Do you hear me? Check yourself before you wreck yourself!" Doctor Torres replied, leaving you to raise an eyebrow.
"S/n, you're not going to lose your grit too or am I losing both of my future ortho goddesses?" Doctor Torres asked, leaving you to glance up from the work you were doing.
"I don't plan on being kicked off ortho any time soon."
///
"I owe you both an apology, for snapping. We overheard one of the residents isn't coming back next year and I've just been so afraid it could be me." Jo apologised to Doctor Kepner and Doctor Torres.
"Could be."
"Totally possible. S/n, do you feel the same way?" Doctor Torres enquired, turning to where you stood behind Jo.
"I think that you'd regret firing either of us." You stated, folding your arms as Doctor Torres raised an eyebrow.
"See, that is what I'm looking for, grit, sass." She smiled before walking away.
"Are you okay?" Jo asked as she itched her neck.
"I think I'm going to be sick." You admitted, taking a shaky breath as what you realised what you just said.
"Sometimes you're too sassy for your own good." Jo replied, smiling as you passed her the E45 cream again.
"Do you just carry that on you?"
"When you're stressed? Yeah." You replied, giving Jo a soft smile as she launched forwards and hugged you.
///
"Y/n! It was me!" Leah shouted, leaving you to turn around in confusion, pulling your headphones out as you realised Leah was crying.
"Leah? What do you mean? What was you-" You frowned, putting your arms up to steady Leah as she began to sob.
"It was me, I was the one getting fired, Webber's offering to send me to a research facility at the University of Washington, he said a surgical residency doesn't fit me-"
"Whoah, hey, you're a great resident, Leah, it's more this hospital and it's people that didn't help you flourish in a way that you needed. I think you can go far, Leah. But this hospital and it's drama isn't going to help. I'll miss you, Leah." You stated, hugging her briefly before heading out to meet up with Micah.
"You're going to be alright, Y/n, you should know that by now." Leah stated, leaving you to give her a sad smile as you put your headphones in.
"You too, Leah. I'll see you around."

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 8 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
"That's not supposed to happen? Wilson, what's wrong with you? You don't like cats?" Doctor Shepherd questioned, frowning at the computer screens.
"Hate 'em." Jo stated, her eyes watching the screen for the next image to appear.
"What's wrong with the beach?"
"Sand in my eyes, skin cancer, vacations I never got to take as a child... could we put Braces in this thing? I think you could get a really cool comparison for a baseline if you compared us?" Jo asked, leaving Doctor Shepherd to pause whilst Doctor Torres checked her pager.
"Uh-oh. Open comminuted radius fracture in the ER." Doctor Torres announced, leaving Doctor Shepherd to pause as he looked over the computer screens.
"Oh, there you go, took a broken arm to make her feel happy. Wilson, bring S/n up later, I do think we could get an interesting comparison between the pair of you." Doctor Shepherd admitted, leaving Jo to grin.
"I turned her onto ortho a couple of weeks ago with S/n. Watch this, hey Wilson, want to go set that arm yourself?" Doctor Torres giggled as the results began to show high brain activity.
///
"You don't wear swimsuits when you run out of clean underwear?" Doctor Kepner asked, leaving Jo to frown.
"I don't run out of clean underwear."
"You're a resident, when do you have time to do laundry?" Doctor Kepner stated, leaving you to walk over.
"She doesn't, I do the laundry and cooking, Jo fixes the broken stuff and does the cleaning." You explained, reaching for a tablet as April, Jackson and Jo glanced at you.
"Wasn't there some rumour you two share underwear?" April asked, leaving Jackson to admit he didn't need to hear that conversation.
"It's easier to just wash it all together, plus we share a wardrobe. I have to go, labs are back for my patient." You stated, hurrying away as Jo gawped at you.
"Now she admits she mixes our clothes together on purpose..." Jo muttered to herself.
///
"Hey, Braces, come on, you need to try this out!" Jo called you over, waving to you to remove your headphones.
"What's up?" You tilted your head to the side in confusion, putting your MP3 player in the pocket of your Yale hoodie as Jo pulled you through the corridors to arrive at the MEG machine.
"Hey S/n, fancy being a comparative baseline with Wilson's and Torres' results?" Doctor Shepherd asked, watching you raise an eyebrow before Jo pulled you over to the seat and told you to sit.
"Okay, so we're going to show you some images to react to-"
"You're looking for the brain correlates." You replied, making eye contact with Jo, Doctor Shepherd and Doctor Torres.
"Uh, yeah, yeah, we are. Okay, loading up the first image." Doctor Shepherd announced, watching you look towards the screen as the shark appeared.
"Huh, hippocampus is activated, remembering something S/n?"
"When Joey and I snuck in to watch Jaws at the drive-in cinema, we couldn't afford it so we parked up at the side and sat on the roof of the car." You explained, eyes drifting from the image as you heard Jo over the comms.
"Duuuunnnn duun... duuunnnnnnnn dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnn dunnnn..."
"Brain activity increased with that, thanks for the commentary, Wilson, next image is loading, S/n." Doctor Torres chuckled, watching as the kitten image appeared.
"Oh look, it's you... you're cuter though-"
"Joey, you hate cats." You interjected, ignoring Jo's facial expressions as you focussed on the image.
"And you're afraid of dogs, anyways, even though I hate kittens, I still love you, kitten." Jo retorted, leaving Callie to roll her eyes at the same time you did.
"You're cringing me out, can we move onto the next image?" You requested, leaving Shepherd to look amused as he agreed, loading up the beach picture.
"Girls in bikinis!" Jo burst out, leaving Callie and Derek to exchange looks as the MEG began to pick up brain activity.
"Hippocampus and amydala..." Doctor Shepherd pointed out, leaving you to sigh.
"I was a lifeguard when I was 18." You stated, leaving out information that had Doctor Torres raising an eyebrow.
"Oh yeah, lifeguard by day, shady bar job by night." Jo recalled after, Doctor Shepherd had already headed up to pick Zola and Bailey up from daycare.
"Isn't that like, not legal?" Doctor Torres nervously chuckled, watching as Jo rolled her eyes and you didn't respond, choosing to go through your MP3 instead.
"Hey, do I need to get Arizona on you-"
"I don't work there anymore, obviously..." You replied, ignoring Callie's concerned face as Jo rolled her eyes again.
///
"That's not fair, karaoke's my thing, you can't go without me!" Steph exclaimed as you were pulling your scrubs off to swap them out for a jumper.
"Wait, this is a karaoke bar?" Leah asked, turning to Shane with a frown.
"Uh, it's a regular bar that happens to have karaoke." Shane reasoned, leaving Jo to exchange looks with you.
"And how is that any different?" She asked as you chuckled.
"It's not, I've been to several karaoke bars and regular bars with karaoke during college, either way, there is drinking and karaoke-"
"It's totally different, and that's something I know because karaoke's kinda my thing!" Steph argued, leaving you to roll your eyes before pulling the jumper over your head.
You raised an eyebrow as Warren explained that he was also missing out on the karaoke.
"Aw gramps, how about a glass of warm milk too?" Jo teased, laughing as you threw a sock at her.
"Now, see, you mock, but that sounds fantastic right now-" Warren replied before Doctor Shepherd walked in.
"Okay, everybody get out of your streets and into your scrubs, I'm going to teach you everything you need to know about a hippocampectomy." Doctor Shepherd instructed, leaving you to grimace as you'd just finished tying the laces of your boots.
"But you cancelled that lecture." Jo pointed out with a frown.
"Yes, I did and I did you a disservice, not only is it a rare procedure, but it's one of the most delicate and elegant a neurosurgeon can perform, which you will see later tonight when you scrub in with me." Doctor Shepherd stated, leaving you to pause.
"Hunt called you out on cancelling everything, didn't he?" You asked, leaving Doctor Shepherd to withhold a knowing look as you gave him a sarcastic grin. Jo's laughing at the interaction broke your focus as Doctor Shepherd left and you pulled your jumper off over your head again.
///
"We are going to do the surgery tonight, the OR is available at 1:30am so technically it's the morning." Jo glanced between Warren and you as you did your best to not zone out.
"1:30am, that's still hours away-"
"Oh, don't worry Doctor Warren, just got a page from the ER, we've got plenty to do before then, come along." Doctor Shepherd smiled before leading the residents down to the OR.
"Aw, poor gramps!" Jo teased before you headbutted her shoulder.
"I need coffee, but your shoulder is so comfy..." You joked, leaving Jo to chuckle as her hand went to pat the top of your head.
"Come on Braces, let's go see what the ER has."
///
"Amazing." "Fantastic!" "Disgusting..." "Edwards!"
"I'm sorry Doctor Shepherd." Steph replied as you scooted closer to the screen.
"Yeah, don't apologise to me, apologise to Mister Quaid." Doctor Shepherd replied, gesturing to the patient whose scans you were all looking at.
"How did the shears end up through his forehead anyway, is it a new version of falling on your own sword-"
"S/n." Doctor Shepherd interrupted you, leaving you to grimace.
"Sorry Mister Quaid! I was just wondering how this happened?"
"You and me both, kid. Hey doc, figured out how you're going to get these bastards out of my noggin?" Mister Quaid enquired, all eyes glancing at Doctor Shepherd in that moment.
"It will be a very precise, yank." Doctor Shepherd exclaimed, resulting in Jo gasping in excitement whilst you barely withheld your laughter at her excitement.
"Oh, me! Me, me, me me!" Jo volunteered, putting her hand up and everything.
"Wow, Joey, you're more excited for this than you were for karaoke." You whispered, leaving Jo to gawp at you and your sarcasm.
///
"This is like watching people try to pull the sword from the stone..." You whispered to Steph as Jo stepped in from Leah's attempts to pull the shears out of the patient's head.
"You've been watching Disney, haven't you?" Steph replied before Jo pulled the shears out.
"Way to go Lady Hulk-"
"I think the term is She-Hulk, but long live the queen." You smirked as Jo turned around with a grin.
///
"Each of you will have a turn standing at the microscope with me, and get to ask one question. Ross, you go first."
///
"Okay, Murphy you're up."
"But I was right-" Jo interjected, leaving Doctor Shepherd to nod.
"Oh yes, you were, but nobody likes a know-it-all." Doctor Shepherd replied, leaving Jo to turn around and playfully glare as you and Steph laughed slightly.
Your eyes widened as Leah slipped up, leaving her to stand and panic as Doctor Shepherd tried to fix whatever had happened.
///
"Nova, if you can hear me, blink... Nova, Nova..." Doctor Shepherd checked the patient's reflexes, waiting for a response.
"Is, is it okay, if I just said yes?" Nova groaned, leaving Leah to let out a breath of relief.
"Everything is good here. Now Doctor Murphy will be in charge of your post-op care, and she will be in every hour until you do a neural check. All you have to do right now is just rest." Doctor Shepherd explained to Nova as Leah put on a fake smile to hide her anxiety over what had happened in the surgery.
You squeezed her shoulder before Doctor Shepherd pulled her aside, leaving you to follow Jo, Shane and Steph away from the patient room.
///
You were walking up the drive when Doctor Kepner pulled up.
"S/n? Heading to Callie and Arizona's?" April asked, her voice cracking as you tilted your head to the side.
"I have coffee?" You offered as the door opened to reveal Callie and Arizona, who was holding Bailey Shepherd in her arms.
"April? Y/n?"
"Can I stay here for a while?" April asked, turning to gesture to you, "and S/n brought coffee..."
"Ooh, coffee!" Callie exclaimed as Arizona let the two of you inside.
"Didn't you just pull an all-nighter? Why aren't you sleeping?" Arizona enquired as she watched you downing a very large coffee.
"I'm not becoming nocturnal by sleeping through the day alone. Jo's crashing at Karev's. I'm not on call until tomorrow morning, so I'll just go to bed early tonight and pray the nightmares don't wake me up." you muttered into your coffee as Doctor Kepner paused.
"My nightmares are at home, so instead I am here." She admitted, taking a large gulp of her coffee in the process.

Doctor Y/n - Residency - 7 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
Living in a household meant you are in close proximity to each other. If one person gets sick, there is almost a guarantee that everyone else will get sick.
You lived with Jo, who split her time unevenly between you and Alex Karev. This meant if you got sick, Jo could get sick and that would mean Karev would get sick.
You and Jo worked at a hospital, where viruses and infections fester and spread.
And now a virus was spreading through the hospital, starting as flu symptoms then moving into more gastrointestinal symptoms.
"Aren't you worried about getting sick?" Leah asked, leaving you to grimace.
"Yeah, but I'm going to work through it..." You explained as Doctor Webber began to hand out everyone's assignments.
"A third of us are out with a stomach-bug thing." Steph explained as Leah stated that she was going home sick.
"S/n, you're on ortho." Webber stated as he re-arranged the schedule.
"Oh, you're just pissed because you already lost the bet!" Steph exclaimed, leaving Leah to frown whilst you just grimaced and grabbed your bottle of hand sanitiser.
"What bet?"
"The bet wherein the first one of us to fall due to illness today has to be swap monkey for a week." Steph explained, leaving you to pause.
"Wait, what's swap monkey?"
"All next week, one of us doesn't like our service, we can trade with the swap monkey, and they can't refuse."
You had zoned out at that point, deciding to get out of the room with potential germs in it.
"Dead man walking!" Steph exclaimed as Leah ran out to go to the bathroom.
"Jo, I swear to god, do not ditch me if I get sick-"
"I know, Braces, I know, you're clingy when you're sick." Jo replied, about to reach for you but you dodged her hand.
"Also, I better not get sick because of you."
"Oh please, if you get sick from anyone, it'll be Leah. It's weird how you two actually get along." Jo retorted, leaving you to stick your tongue out before heading out to find Doctor Torres.
///
"S/n, let's go, ortho was paged to the ER-" Doctor Torres began before you spotted it.
"Joey? What the hell happened to his arm?" You asked before the three of you walked into another room to look at the x-rays that Jo had sent for.
"Man, that is a nasty break. You two see this? He has an old fracture that never healed properly. See how it's malaligned? It left the bone weaker than it should have been. Wilson?" Doctor Torres frowned as Jo was staring off into space with a guilty look on her face.
"I think that this was my fault. The guy was getting to me and I was pissed and I was just trying to restrain him-" Jo began, leaving Doctor Torres to fold her arms.
"You think that you broke his arm?"
Jo nodded tentatively whilst you frowned in disagreement.
"Wilson, don't flatter yourself, even S/n knows that tetanus spasms can be so intense they've been known to over-torque and snap bones." Doctor Torres explained, gesturing to you before she spotted you were holding a tissue to your nose.
"Nosebleed?" She asked but you shook your head.
"He broke his own arm?!" Jo exclaimed, pausing as she turned to spot you with the tissue to your nose.
"Mm hmm, but, we're not going to be able to re-align the new break, without re-breaking the old fracture." Doctor Torres pointed out, leaving Jo to realise whilst you just sighed as you felt your nose tickling.
"So, you have to break his bone to put it back together?"
"Nope. I think you do." Doctor Torres smirked whilst Jo's face melted into panic.
"What? I can't do that, why can't S/n do that? She loves ortho and bones-" Jo was cut off as you sneezed several times in a row.
"Okay, a) you thought you could a second ago, and b) I can't help this guy if S/n's hurling in the corner, fix your girlfriend then get ready to prep. Wilson, you are doing this, S/n can sit in the gallery if she can stay awake long enough." Doctor Torres stated before she headed out, leaving Jo to turn to you.
"How did you even get sick? I feel fine-" Jo began but you just growled.
"Lucky you." You mumbled, groaning as your nose felt like it was dripping again.
///
You were sat in the gallery with a large bottle of water as you watched Jo work with Doctor Torres.
"Oh come on, your girlfriend loves this stuff! Here, hold that, here, you got to hit it, hard." Doctor Torres stated, watching Jo's nervous expression.
"This feels wrong!"
"No, hey, I told you, the bone is misaligned, so we have to break it to be able to put it back together... okay, don't be a weenie, you're stronger than you think, just picture, I don't know, one of S/n's exes you couldn't stand or something."
"Okay, no, I've put guys in the hospital before... and threatened a few of S/n's hookups but, when I get mad, I get- I don't trust myself, that's why I thought I hurt him this morning, I don't want to do this, I want to hurt people, I want to fix them." Jo stated before the intercom began to buzz.
"Joey, did I tell you how I decided I wanted to be a doctor? It was a sports game, lacrosse or something. One of the players went down and when the paramedics ran over, his bone was sticking out. Whilst everyone else was disgusted, I was wondering how they'd put the bone back in. Some things get broken or need breaking so that they can be fixed... wow, I sound really congested." You spoke into the intercom, laughing as Doctor Torres grinned at you and Jo laughed too.
"Yeah, you do. I'll come home tonight, we can lie on the couch with soup and blankets and watch cartoons?" Jo asked, leaving Callie's face to fall but Jo couldn't see under the mask.
"Break the patient's arm and then I'll accept stealing you from Karev for a night." You replied, smirking as Jo took the hammer and broke the patient's arm.
///
"Oooh, you're feeling it, aren't you? The ortho glow?" Doctor Torres began but you just chuckled.
"Oh, it's that plus she's getting sick, notice how red her ears and nose are but she's also kinda pale." You pointed out, leaving Jo to gasp as she whacked your hand away since you'd been pointing at her face.
"You know, you two would be good in ortho, you could both be ortho goddesses under my tutorage."
"Right now, I feel like I could never get angry again." Jo admitted, leaving Doctor Torres to laugh.
"Oh sweetie, you date Alex Karev, you'll always have a reason to be angry." Doctor Torres laughed before walking away, leaving you to hold your giggles at Jo's expression.
///
"It's just exciting, you know, you meet someone and there's a connection. I mean, both of them have this spark, we all just clicked, they get it, they get me, I know there's still a chance it doesn't work out, I might not even get both of them on ortho... only something like 4% of ortho surgeons are women, but that's also why it would be so cool, we'd be the three musketeers-"
"Callie." Arizona's voice was grovelly, leading Callie to open the door and panic.
"Oh, oh, did you fall?"
"No, no, the floor is just really nice and cool. And this is my friend," Arizona gestured to the toilet next to her, "but, I've still got it. My superpowers are intact. Whilst you are adopting S/n and Wilson into ortho..." Arizona murmured, leaving Callie to nod.
"I still can't figure out how long Wilson was cheating on S/n with Karev, since they're claiming to be besties and everything. S/n's clearly bothered by Wilson spending all her time with Karev."
"Yeah, S/n doesn't cope well alone, and Wilson keeps leaving her alone to be with Karev. S/n doesn't really have any other friends besides Wilson, she's cordial with Murphy and Edwards but that's it."
"We could adopt S/n? No, wait, I don't think that's legal... how about we just make sure she's not alone... although I don't know how I feel about-"
"S/n and I already talk, Callie. How about you adopt her in the hospital, keep her on your service for ortho and I just let her talk to me if she wants to talk? Also, S/n has a policy, she doesn't date her co-workers, that's why she and Murphy are a little bit awkward at the moment-"
"Well, at least Murphy moved on from you..." Callie grumbled, leaving Arizona to sigh into the toilet bowl.
///
"I got Alex to start looking at his student loans... now I am all yours- you look like crap." Jo announced as she walked into find you under an avalanche of blankets on the couch.
"So do you! Now can we watch Adventure Time?" You asked as Jo padded over in her socks and began to climb under the blankets.
"Hell yes we can... I've missed this..." Jo admitted, leaving you to huff, quickly checking your phone with a frown as you spotted you'd been added to a new group chat.
"It only took us both getting sick for you to spend time with me." You mumbled, typing in your phone password so you could see the group chat.
"Hey, I'll start balancing my time more, okay?" Jo asked, reaching for you as you didn't even look, passing her your free hand instead.
"Who are you texting?" Jo enquired, grabbing the remote to put Adventure Time on the tv.
"A group chat with Torres and Robbins."
"That's... they aren't asking you to-"
"No, the only thing they're asking if I'm okay and if we need any orange juice." You deadpanned, leaving Jo to pause as she turned to look at the fridge.
"More people made it onto the fridge?"
You shrugged off her response, passing the bottle of water over to Jo to distract her.
"Are you sleeping over?" You asked as you glanced at the bowl of soup on the coffee table.
"Are you still having nightmares when you sleep alone?" Jo deadpanned, leaving you to grimace into the blankets.
///
Jo paused momentarily as she was brushing her teeth as a whimper was heard from outside the bathroom.
"Braces?" Jo murmured as she finished up brushing her teeth, wiping her face and slipping out of the bathroom as she heard you whimpering.
"I'm sorry! Please! Don't leave me! No! No! I'm sorry! It's cold! Please, come back!" You cried out in your sleep, leaving Jo to freeze in the doorway as she listened.
It was only when you jerked awake and sniffled for breath that she climbed into bed, pulling you into her for a hug.
"It's okay, I've got you..." Jo cooed, trying to keep you still as you shivered.
"My parents were fighting in the car, I asked them to stop but they got angry at me and said if I didn't stop, they'd leave me... but then they pulled over and left me anyway. They promised they'd come back. They promised!" You realised, crying as Jo held you a little closer.
"If you're going to leave with Karev, don't beat around the bush or make bullshit promises, just tell me, okay?" You stated, turning in Jo's arms so you could look her in the eye.
"I'm not-" Jo was cut off by your raised eyebrow, leaving her to just sigh, "I'll tell you, but I don't plan on leaving you anytime soon, Braces, I need you as much as you need me." Jo stated, leaving you to nod in understanding.
"How are you doing?" You asked, leaving Jo to laugh for a moment.
"Honestly, I'd love to just lay here with you and not talk." Jo admitted, leaving you to nod as you pulled the blankets closer to the pair of you.
"Okay. Then we'll do that." You concluded, reaching for the switch and plunging the apartment into darkness.
